Almost 5 pounds for a cappuccino for which no order has been taken at first, for which you then have to wait more than 20 minutes, with a spoon and sugar missing and, as a highlight, a 10% service fee appears on the bill? As beautiful as it is in Gleneagles - unfortunately we didn't like it at all...

We love Gleneagles and The Dormy House. We popped in on our way north for a light lunch in Auchterarder Bar to find it had been changed to a pop up bar - La Barra de A70. The menu was limited and we chose a sharing beef nachos platter which was a very small portion and hardly fed one! It was beef chunks and I only found 2 chunks in the whole plate. Including 1 beer and 1 non alcoholic mojito, vastly overpriced for what fundamentally was soda water with lime and mint, the total bill including service charge was £48. We don’t mind spending money at Gleneagles when the quality is good but we felt that this was very poor. It would have been better having a full lunch in the Dormy House Restaurant. The staff and service were excellent as usual. A very disappointing visit to one of our favourite places

My friends from Canada and me came to play golf at Gleneagle. After the round, we had some drinks and lunch at the Auchteradar Seventy bar. When my friend paid for the bill, he noticed the amount on the credit card machine was different from the bill, he then raised the question and the waiter acknowleged it was over-charged for £3. We thought it was just a mistake and accident. The next day, after another round of golf, we went to the same bar for drinks and lunch, when we paid for the bill, the credit card machine over-charged us again compared to the bill. The first time can be considered as an accident, but it happened two days in a row, it just made us feel it is a systematic over-charging practise by the staff. Although each time the over charge were small, but it made us feel very un-comfortable to come back to the place again. My Canadian friend was so kind and he didn't request a refund, but my wife who is a Scottish felt very ashamed and let down by the dodge staff at a high end establishment like Gleneagles in Scotland. Gleneagles hotel and the golf club are excellent places for foreign visitors, but some sneaky staff very tarnish the image of the place.

Unfortunately left unimpressed by the over priced and limited food selection coupled with shoddy service. Also, vegetarians beware, you have been cancelled. £20+ for small scampi and small pot of fries, no veg nor salad. Service was mostly by uninterested staff who required several reminders that we'd ordered tea 15 minutes earlier. Eventually brought us tea for two, half the original amount ordered. Setting and views make up the stars given.

We had lunch here twice, after playing King’s Course and the PGA Centenary. We each had a pizza the first time around and that was good. Second time we decided to go for the curry and that was even better. Service was nice and friendly.

Had a few beers after golf. Nice craft beers and very friendly service. We all loved the peppered nuts and order several small bowls. It was only upon looking at the bill that we saw that they were £5 each. Hey ho. All in all a very nice spot and good starter for the Dormy next door.

We approached the bar and asked if food was being served, the young girl told me yes and if we took a seat she would take menus over. We sat at a table and waited patiently. Another couple sat down and a different waitress served them, meanwhile our waitress was starting to serve newcomers at the bar. After what seemed like an age I approached the bar again for menus, she shouted across to her colleague who was too busy on her phone and obviously didn't appreciate my bothering her for some service. At that point we left. Rude!!

Went here after a meal elsewhere. They had special gins on offer, there was a gin festival the night we were there. Also a wee two piece band who got better the more you drank. Great views over the golf course. Service was not too quick, but I just think our order got forgotten, got there in the end!

Auchterarder 70 is the old-fashioned telephone number for this part of the hotel. Access via very steep steps at the front, but if you go round to the right hand side, near the trade entrance, you can walk halfway around the building on a path and then there is a gentle incline into the main building. The WC facilities are good with nice ESPA Bergamot and Jasmine products but on 2 consecutive days the hand-dryer (Mediclinics) did not work.

Stopped for lunch at The Gleneagles on the way south, to find that the Dormy, our normal choice when not staying in the hotel, was closed for refurbishment. We chose Auchterarder 70, our first visit. Food and attentiveness of the staff was excellent, but why oh why was the soup served with desert spoons. This is simply not right! When the correct tool for the job was requested, apparently “they do not normally serve soup upstairs”, when the restaurant manager was asked on departure, apparently all the cutlery from the Dormy had been sent to the hotel!

Despite the Dormy being our intended destination, we chose Auchterarder 70 as its neighbour was closed for refurbishment and upgrading. Very restful and enjoyable with quick and friendly service as you expect at this venue!

We fancied a spot of lunch and tried Auchterarder 70. It is set up like a sports bar with a huge screen and I can imagine it getting quite noisy during match or tournaments. The layout of the tables and seating along the windows facing the golf course reminded me of the original Dormy House 15yrs ago but modernised.

Really lovely place to sit and chill. Had snacks for lunch, which were nice but very overpriced for what you got .....£9 for 'sliders' which were 3 mini burgers...no sides with it e.g. fries or salad...they're extra. Nice balcony area overlooking the course, which was lovely as the weather was particularly nice on one of the days we were there. Staff were great...very friendly and attentive. As said in my review about the actual hotel....you're at Gleneagles so you're going to pay 'Gleneagles prices'.

A nice new addition to the hotel, we came for lunch, the food was good, although the service not ideal, the waitress forgot my wine and even when I reminded her it was slow arriving, when the boys went for a beer the next day after golf, it took 45 minutes for the beers to arrive after ordering.

We noticed The Auchterarder 70 Bar when having a meal at the Dormy Restaurant and the following day whilst on a walk around The Gleneagles Hotel grounds we called in for a drink, nice atmosphere and great views out over the golf course and the hills in the distance, this must be a great place in the summer to sit and watch the golfers, the beer with the same name as the bar went down well, so much so after lunch in the hotel we came back to try another. We will most definitely pop in the next time we visit Gleneagles.

Ordered vegan food and found what seemed like animal part in it. They insisted it was part of a mushroom which it clearly wasn’t. This made my wife feel sick and therefore couldn’t accept the offer of another meal. Offers of drinks etc weren’t acceptable as this had ruined our evening. I had to argue for any reduction in the bill and was threatened with the police if I didn’t pay. Appalling customer service.
