The best restaurants in United Kingdom serving British food

The first night, the service was excellent as was the food. We went back for the second night, service was appalling, waitress had attitude, minted lamb pie - served with cold beef gravy, I had to request mint sauce which came in a hospital paper pot, I then had to ask for a teaspoon for it, and when she brought it she said is there ANYTHING - sigh - else you need. Basic food - cheap - you get what you pay for!

the best BEST. quick service and a quality sandwich. specials are tempting, and the menu is very good. parking is a breeze.

Been here for lunch on several occasions with friends, and have always had a good experience. Food has been invariably good from the £10 lunch menu, service excellent from friendly staff, and the only minor complaint each time was that the background music was a little too much in the foreground for comfortable conversation. Otherwise, highly recommended.

Excellent! We had a caesar salad, onion rings, sauté greens, veggie lover's foccia and they were VERY good! Veg was fresh, sauces tasted really good, and service was quality care with classic Scottish hospitality.

I have to say that the food was excellent, but sadly the service let the experience down. One staff member in particular was quite rude and seemed to be in charge, telling others what to do and whispering into colleagues’ ears while they served other customers, which felt very unprofessional. Tables were left dirty, and when I asked about it, the staff member just gave a look and never returned to clean it. We just changed tables after waiting for a bit. Also, the women’s toilets on the terrace are much less clean than the ones inside—and they’re frequently out of toilet paper. At this point, it’s honestly better to walk the extra steps to the indoor facilities. That said, now that summer’s coming, I’m glad they’ve removed the roof section on the terrace, it looks much brighter and more spacious. I’ll definitely be back and hope to see some improvements in service.

Revolting. Don't waste your time or money coming here. Stale bread, so much mayo in tuna sandwich it wa running onto the plate, tasteless and looked like cat food. Strange furniture, corner sofa and chairs. Really. Shabby, didn't look clean. Tables not cleared or wiped down. Full on Chinese menu (written in chinese) alongside baguettes, paints, jacket potatoes. Just turn it into a noodle bar and be done with it. Just wierd all round. Will not be returning

A lush, comfortable greenhouse on a crisp winter’s day, with a sparkling sea-view - a real unexpected treat on a gorgeous coast walk, after a visit to a certain famous Italian cafe earlier. This is the one I’d recommend.

If you are looking for refined then this is not for you. The Bedford room is somewhat drab and to be frank needs a good clean. I was sat next to the window cill which has a few ornaments which had clearly not be dusted or washed down for some time. I appreciate that spiders can spin webs through the summer very quickly but this genuinely needs a good clean. When the room is not clean this makes me query what else is not clean! Having pre booked this tea for a girlfriends birthday I could not fault the afternoon tea itself. The sandwiches had a good amount of filling and the scones were light for me, perfect. The cake selection for someone who is dairy free was great and the service was also good. There is an excellent selection of quality teas and other drinks too. Overall I would of liked to give a very good rating for the tea itself as it was lovely but the surroundings and cleanliness really let this down and it could be so easily rectified.

Spent 4 nights at the Park Hotel. Our room was very nice, very clean and warm. We ate in the restaurant every night and the food was lovely. Friendly and accommodating staff too. Would definitely recommend and stay again 🙂

We spent the afternoon at Budock Vean celebrating Mother’s Day with our families, including both Mum and Mother-in-law, and had a truly wonderful experience. The team were absolutely fantastic from start to finish, and we thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea – everything was delicious and beautifully presented. A special shout out goes to Wendy, who was fabulous and really made our afternoon feel extra special. Nothing was too much trouble, and her relaxed, friendly approach made us all feel so welcome – we honestly felt like she could’ve joined us at the table, she was that much fun! We’re already planning our next visit, especially to try out the pool and jacuzzi. Thank you to everyone at Budock Vean for such a lovely day – we’ll be back very soon! 🧁🍰🫖☕️

We've just had a wonderful few days at Inglewood Manor. Although we visited Chester and other interesting places, the hotel was the highlight of our break. The hotel is full of character and history. Our bedroom had a nice view and the bed was very comfortable. Facilities were excellent overall. We dined in the restaurant on one night and it was top class. The food and service were amazing. The service throughout the hotel was excellent, all staff members were friendly, pleasant and professional. I read reviews before booking this and amongst the reviews there was mention of the decor being a bit "tired". I'd have to agree with that in part. Certainly in our room the carpet was crumpled in the middle of the floor. Apart from that, it's a very old building and deserves to look tired!! I would recommend this hotel.

We stumbled upon this hidden gem on mother's day, what an amazing experience! Food was excellent, great ambience and the staff were very friendly. Lovely to see the chef come out and have a chat with us.

El miembro del personal que nos asiste era agradable, pero después de preguntar si un artículo era vegano, parecía que preferiría estar en cualquier otro lugar. Con dos mesas de dos situados en el exterior, cualquier plan de disfrutar de sus compras en el lugar puede ser aplastado. Compramos cuatro artículos. Todos eran aceptables, pero absolutamente no relación calidad-precio. Por estas razones, siento que la panadería Primrose es promedio en el mejor de los casos.

Booked the Jubilee for a private party, Jack the manager went out of his way to ensure the night went smoothly which it did! Food was lovely as it's off the menu but a buffet style. Definitely recommended.....
