I have eaten at the Red Lion several times before, for Sunday lunch and for an evening meal. This year the quality has greatly deteriorated and when I took three people there for a thank you meal it was absolutely deplorable. I could not believe the plates of food which were served to us. On each plate was the roast meat, roast potatoes but half of each was burnt BLACK, Yorkshire pudding which was also burnt BLACK and mash potatoes. I had roast turkey which was very good, one person had roast beef which again was good the two other people had suppose roast ham which looked like rashers of bacon. We were served a dish of vegetables which consisted of carrots, peas, broccoli and red cabbage. They were all tasteless, the broccoli wasn’t cooked and the red cabbage was a poorly looking pink colour. So out of the whole meal the only things that were acceptable were the turkey, beef and mash potatoes. I told the waitress that the potatoes and Yorkshire puddings were burnt and also told the girl who took my payment at the bar that I was very disappointed with the food and why. She said she would tell the chef to which I pointed out that the chef already knows because he sent the Black burnt food out. Because this meal was my treat I felt very upset and disappointed but didn’t want to cause any embarrassment to my guests by making a fuss. It cost me £54.00 for the food which was definitely not up to anyone’s expectations. So sad because I used to really liked going to the red lion.

I visited one Friday 31st May and asked if the fish and chips were gluten free. I was told that they could be , by using chickpea flour but that gluten actually burnt off over a certain temperature so there really was no issue. I ordered the gluten free- but was served regular fish and chips. The chef came out for a second time a reiterated that it was not an issue as it burnt off! I was made to feel that I was making a fuss. Will not return and suggest people with allergy or intolerances to be very cautious.

Very disappointed with the Sunday lunch today , the starter of prawn and crayfish had no crayfish in , the Yorkshire puddings were like pancakes, two of the group orders the sausage with black pudding mash , there was no black pudding in the mash they also never got other items listed on the menu. We brought this to a waitresses attention who had to go and check with the chef , she came back saying that they had ran out of black pudding for the mash ! We asked to speak to a manager at the end of the meal as we were not happy to pay for the 2 meals that were not as described.we were advised that they had knocked £3 off each meal to compensate for the missing items , we were not satisfied with this and stated that we were not prepared to pay for 2 of the meals because they were not as listed on the menu. The manager was not professional in her response and was quite rude to one of our group , it resulted with her leaving the table without our issue being resolved. Not a professional response and definitely will not be returning ever.

So impressed with the great selection of gluten free options..... still rare in many restaurants and much appreciated. So it's brilliant that coeliacs can eat here with no awkward questions, no allergy file (nightmare!). Thank you so much Red Lion Team. Our order was 2 GF haddock and chips and 2 special pies (our partners eat gluten). All the meals were enjoyed, the staff were friendly and the restaurant was surprisingly spacious and lovely. We are from Nottingham but I would visit again if i could.

Made a late booking for mother’s day and although the restaurant was extremely busy, we where accommodated. We arrived and although some of our party had not arrived yet we where served drinks and the opportunity to wait in the bar area. We where then shown to our table in the beautiful and very busy restaurant. The atmosphere was fantastic and we all had starters and mains. The service was second to none, our waiter was Dean and he was so polite and attentive. The food served was delicious and we all enjoyed such a wonderful day. There was 11 of us in the party so by no means an easy table to slot in but the service was faultless from start to finish. Its so amazing to have this bar and restaurant on our doorstep, cannot praise Kerry and her team enough, they all cheerfully worked so hard to make my day special and a gift of chocolates for all the mums was the icing in the cake. Well done to everyone at the Red Lion, doing Crowle proud. 🥰

Upon being taken to the dineing area it wasn't busey and plenty of tables spare! Lamb shank was tough Sunday lunch was average crackling was just raw fat not crackling at all!! Visited for the ‘Steak Night’, and ordered a rare steak which was cooked perfectly. The steak came with onion rings, peas, mushrooms and chunky chips. Sauces were also included in the price and I had the stilton which was lovely. Great value for money, especially when you compare to nearby restaurants that also do steaks. Much better than a Miller & Carter. Will definitely be returning!

Visited on a Saturday afternoon whilst stopping at 7 Lakes. Walk of about a mile. Unbelievably, this pub was apart from cars driving through the village the only sign of life in the village so we were not really expecting anything. Fortunately, the beer was good, the service was efficient and we happily wasted a bit of time in the lounge. Only downside for me was Strongbow cider on draft rather than a more tasty choice. Disappointing as the beer drinkers had a better choice.

Despite this lady at front of house fit us straight in no problem. Lovely room where food served, and we chose and ordered quickly . Front of house loudly disciplining staff in view of customers . Food lukewarm - steak tough - meat in steak pie tough - chips soggy. Mentioned this to front of house who said she would tell chef - she left and took one plate and never returned . Complained again to waitress when she came to take rest of plates and no action taken . 106 pound later will not rush back .

The Red Lion was just around the corner from our temporary home after a long day on the road, so it looked like an ideal option for a Friday evening meal and plenty of others seemed to agree. Post-lockdown restrictions were obviously in place - please don't touch the bar! - and sadly usual draught ales weren't on offer as the team gets geared up for more normal times. Lots of familiar favourites on the menu and the food comes in generous portions. I'd have to quibble about the 'fully encased' nature of the pies - shortcrust is the pastry of choice for such a treat, I'd have to assume that the puff pastry shell is warmed up, the top is sliced off to allow the the chosen filling (steak and ale, minted lamb, chicken or mushroom stroganoff) is ladled in and the lid popped back on. The overall effect is a bit like a filled croissant, to be honest, but my steak and ale serving came with so much quality meat and tasty gravy that I was more than willing to put my crust concern to one side and wolf the lot. Across the table a giant portion of liver, onions and bacon which came with bubble and squeak and other veg proved too generous but what could be managed was enjoyed. Sunday lunches look a real bargain judging by the price and there are some unusual options for vegetarians - falafel burger and battered banana blossom were both new to me, and there's jackfruit curry, too, as a well as that aforementioned mushroom burger. Staff were friendly and efficient and working well with their new systems, a thumbs up all round.

We visited here for a prebooked gluten free meal. Starter garlic mushrooms, no gluten free bread available (it was at their other venue but not this one, not helpful) result was a small dish of mushrooms and that was it. Main course faired no better as I was told they had no gluten free pasta despite this being pre ordered and most of the gf options on the menu being pasta. They could have purchased pasta from any supermarket, not having any when the meal was pre booked was a poor excuse. A pre prepared alternative was already available, not really acceptable. I didn’t bother with dessert as the first two courses were disappointing.

Visited here last Sunday with family. Had been for Sunday lunch under the previous owners and it was amazing so invited family over for a visit back so as you can imagine I was really looking forward to it. Booked a table for 5:30 as recommended by the pub as it "can be busy on Sundays" we arrived early, were shown to our table and service was great...to begin with! A young girl served us and her manner was lovely, apologies for a starter not available and very polite and table etiquette was great. However, the starters were lovely but the main course was luke warm. Sunday menu so a roast dinner £9.95 for the smallest piece of meat/potato and £12.95 for four meats that were clearly the ends of a day. The veg was cold apart from the red cabbage and the carrots were black. I should have complained but were torn between being hungry and it was clear the kitchen was shutting up as they turned the lights off! The dessert fridge was also turned off and it was clear they wanted us out even though only half way through dinner! We had asked for our drinks three times by this point! After a cold lunch we were asked to sit in the bar area where we could get coffees and desserts in there if we wanted them. So we moved ourselves though (all the staff had left) sat down finished our drink and went to order desserts etc to be told we couldn't have them as the kitchen was closed! So £95 later i was embarrassed and not satisfied with the meal at all. I paid...shouldn't have ..no one was even interested in taking the bill! Oh forgot to mention while we were finishing our drinks our waitress went home with her sunday lunch foiled up on a plate..it was clear then that the dinner was over. After hearing great things about how this pub had changed I was very disappointed and darn't risk the humiliation with family again so we wont be revisiting...such a shame ! Maybe lunch at 1 would be better if you do go? Such a shame as the food if hot would have been lovely

Started out great sitting in the sun having a drink outside. I ordered the Haddock and chips as did my friend, the waitress did not understand our vegetarians question does the vegetarians Sunday lunch only have vegetables on. Two had the sunday lunch, one had vegetarian chili and one had Gammon. my haddock came with triple cooked chips which I have had many different times so know what to expect. With in a couple of minutes of the mains arriving the waitress came and asked if the food was alright. Not long enough to be sure. My chips were burnt I do know the difference and the batter was to hard to eat. My friends was fine. When I mentioned this I was told it was to late to do anything about it I should have told them when they asked. the mushrooms on the gammon where burnt and he did not eat the onion rings. However this is not the problem i have with it all it was the reaction of the waitress. She kept coming back and saying it is my fault that I had not complained sooner this happened several times in the end I had to ask her to stop she came back with excuse after excuse all the time blaming me. We found it very intimidating and four of our party felt the same. One of our party had eated there the week be fore and said the food was so different all we where told it was the same chef the same batter and the same chips. I put a damper on our birthday celebrations and our whole day. We will not be going back and would not recommend to anyone.

This is a review of The Red Lion in North Street, Crowle; it is not in Epworth, as one review stated and it does not offer mid-week steak nights, indeed the restaurant is not open in midweek at all, so that loses the credibility of some other reviews. This is a traditional village pub with a nice clean room, having large murals and good dining furniture set aside for SUNDAY LUNCH ONLY. There is seating for 35-40 diners so booking is recommended.

Took the kids for leisurely Sunday lunch at this restaurant in the Red Lion Pub in Crowle. First time we'd been and I have to say it was a great find. The staff were friendly and professional. The menu is extensive and the decor fresh and homely. My partner had calamari which was delicious, crispy batter and not chewy at all (and he's a real fuss pot!!); the eldest son had vegetable soup which kept him quiet for a while and he finished it all with no complaints and I had duck pate with chutney and toast - it really was delicious and the youngest son kept nicking nibbles from my plate (what better compliment). For mains we all had the traditional beef dinner and we all wanted it rare - and for once (in a pub restaurant) it was perfect (why can't most restaurants serve rare beef!!). Unfortunately we had to make tracks early so skipped dessert but we'll definitely be back again to try them out.

Been here a number of times with three friends, cannot fault the place excellent food hot tasty and served with a smile by the waiting staff. was busy last time we went with a retirement party going on all Gents and they where having a great time, the witing staff were very tolerant with the guest getting a bit noisy, but hey ho after 40 odd years in the local steelworks it must be a relief.

. Nice place in a lovely setting. The staff come across as very friendly and it's great to go for a drink Sunday lunch is ok but unfortunately my partner and me were not impressed with the quality of the every day menu. Very average.

We ate here on Saturday night 4th October. The menu was on boards on the wall which are difficult to see from all tables, so people get up and stand at the end of your table to read them.

I loved this when it had previous owners who i knew well. My favourite was a giant filled Yorkshire pudding with beef and the most amazing mash potatoe and gravy. But went in feb and i chose a burger which was lovely but their menu wasn't as good i struggled to choose something. Lovely pub though

We ate here on 11/7/14 for my birthday and had starters, mains and one dessert. Considering the above came to approximately £50, including drinks, The Red Lion offers great value for money.

This just a fabulous place to eat. We had Sunday lunch to celebrate my sons engagement. The food was delicious. The service was excellent. Thank you to the young lady who went to great lengths to find out a suitable sparkling wine to celebrate, and making the whole experience special.

As other reviews have stated it doesn't look much on the outside and you have to go through the pub to the restaurant. The room is attractive but not over the top.

I was treated to a belated birthday meal with my mum and her husband. Did not look anything special on arriving and wLked through the busy bar. Shown straight to our table and the menu was explained and the specials board. I decided on a starter of prawns, scallops and black pudding which was delicious, the second course was spicy lamb shank which was cooked beautifully and the flavour was lovely. Would describe the food as gastro pub type food with a twist. The only thing i would suggest is that they add an ialian antipasto to the starters as we would have definitely have gone for that. Would definitely go again.

We were referred to the Red Lion in Crowle by the licensee of the Reindeer in Sandtoft following a dispute over gift vouchers (an odd business decision on their part we would suggest!). The Red Lion is "tucked away" in Crowle and externally not very impressive. However, internally it is very clean and appealing. Our visit to the spacious Parkers Bistro was superb from start to finish with professional, efficient and attentive, but not intrusive, staff, a good choice of drinks including excellent coffees and a menu to satisfy the most discerning of diners. Unable to find fault with any aspect of our visit, we very much look forward to our next meal there in the very near future.

First visit to Parker's bistro (red lion) but certainly not the last! They have just started doing the most wonderful afternoon teas, the most delicious little sandwiches and cakes perfectly presented with a fantastic service. We will most certainly return very soon to sample something else on the menu. Lovely surroundings, friendly staff and delicious food....this place is a hidden gem!

When we arrived, we were a bit apprehensive as the pub outside needs a bit of TLC. However, once inside the pub had a good atmosphere and was cosy with plenty of staff and seating. Then we went through to the bistro which has obviously had some money spent on it. The menu is varied with something for everyone and several vegetarian specials with dishes ranging from about £7 for a main course to £19. It was beautifully presented and well served. And exceptionally tasty! We were a big party and the service was excellent throughout despite a minor confusion with one of the mains. We had a great time and would go back any time.

Couldn't fault the food served by Di, previous owner of the Red Lion, and sorry they left but thankfully it soon re-opened. Better to keep open than have another place closed in Crowle. Different set up now as a Bistro serving a variety of tasty meals with a twist.

Many pubs still treat their customers as did British Rail in the days of the cardboard sandwich. If you need your faith restored then you need to check out Partker's Bistro at the Red Lion. The restaurant area in clean and ambiant with attentive and efficient service. A standard menu is complemented with daily specials and a reasonably priced wine list. The bar serves at least one cask beer.

Faultless service, I booked an hour before going as looking on the website I thought it might be busy. On arriving, slightly late (apologies for that) was shown to table by a very friendly waitress. Ordered drinks and meals. Meals arrived I only wish I had taken photos. It was the traditional Beef roast dinner but beautifully presented and served with extra gravy in a boat..my lunch companion was very pleased. Everything was cooked to perfection, you can always tell when a restaurant is bothered about the food they serve when they ask you during the meal if everything is OK.

A friend and I went last night for a meal at Parkers Bistro (part of the Red Lion) and we were both highly impressed with both the food and service. Nothing was to much trouble for the lady who was serving the meals. We will definitely be going back at some point.

A good location in a quiet area with plenty of parking. We enjoyed a selection of delicious Sunday lunch meals ... I enjoyed a beautiful beef stew accompanied by the usual trimmings. Others in our group enjoyed the delights of the carvery including roast pork and roast leg of lamb. My wife spoilt herself with a dessert of chocolate mouse and raspberry ice cream. I'm sure we will return on an evening to try the menu in the Parker Bistro.

I was staying in the Premier Inn and bought the meal deal at The Anchor. Having dined here on several occasions the service is always amazing both at dinner and breakfast. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Stu, Josh, Sky and the rest of the team are amazing and make your dining experience great. The food is always lovely.

I was called out in a storm to fix a problem on the road outside. The friendly gentleman from the pub kindly invited me in for a coffee and to warm myself up. I am very grateful for their kindness.

Went for a celebratory birthday meal to the Sheffield Arms which had come highly recommended. We weren't disappointed. It was the best 'pub' meal I've had in years. Two had meals from the menu and two of us had the wonderful all you can eat carvery. Everyone enjoyed their meals (lasagne and Yorkshire Pudding wrap) but the carvery was exceptional. Great choice of vegetables, meats, sausages and the most gorgeous baby potatoes. The staff were great, very cheerful and friendly and the puddings were delicious too. I understand that the Sunday carvery has even more choice. We paid £9.95 for the carvery - brilliant value. The pub is beautifully decorated; of course it was busy but the service was excellent. It still retains a local feel but definitely book if you want a meal. Thank you!!!!
