Was lovely food and staff was nice and clean

Had Sunday lunch there with family .it was beautiful x

Popped in for a couple of beers and they had a 70's Rock band on 😊

1st time going to Chancel pub for food and it won't be the last. Just had the best chicken bhuna of my life(freshly made may I add) and I've had a few 😁. Service was spot on really polite and attentive staff. Me and the wife had a starter to share and the 2 chicken bhuna's (which also came with rice,skin on chips and a naan bread) a couple of pints and a pint of coke and spent just under £40. Would highly recommend.

Went for dinner today with the hubby and the food was amazing! Had a halloumi fries 😋 followed by chicken bhuna, (freshly made) naan bread, rice and home made chips with 2 pints of beer and a coke for less than £40. Very polite staff and nice atmosphere. Will be back!

Typical estate pub, very much for the locals but nothing wrong with that. Only the usual keg beers though.

Nice place, good beer garden, lots of seats. Hear the food is nice but haven't tried it.

We didn't try the food, we just went in for drinks. Good pint of Guiness. Friendly service.

Good Saturday night with band Bit rubbish at first with kids running around though would be better if adults only Nice enough for a drink in a casual setting will go back again

DONT bother took over 1 hour for jacket potatoes to arrive and they were cold when they arrived the staffs attitude was as if it was our fault my friend ordered the chips they were rich hard

Band night after football, no food eaten.

Glasses were Dirty brother in laws had lipstick round the rim and brown bits in the glass.

Not many small pubs left this is one of the good ones

Just got a new chef, a real one not just someone who just cooks.. Steaks from£8.. BIG only a limited menu but what is there is great. Big refurbishment going on.

My daughter hired the venue for a Christening. Food absolutely disgusting, outside area which we had use of was overgrown with tall weeds, ash trays full with cigarette butt's, overall the place was filthy. Not even worth one star!

No food on offer cos the chef hadn’t turned up. Not surprised given the level of service, locals clearly not welcoming to non-locals. Bird in the barley up the road are much better with better service and welcoming staff. Would avoid this place like the plague, many other local pubs with staff actually pleased to have customers and food on offer,

We started going to my Dad’s local The Chancel for Sunday lunch since January. It’s so good we now go every week. There’s a special offer for 3 courses but even 2 courses is good value and the food is homemade and excellent. The main course is always hot and perfectly cooked, good portions too, which is why we only manage 2 courses. The homemade desserts are very popular, always more than one flavour of cheesecake available. Nothing is too much trouble for Carrie and Scott who now hold the reins, and chef Sonya. We look forward to going every week and are never disappointed. Gets Dad a proper home cooked meal too.

A great visit to this gem , that's just on our doorstep. Offered 3 courses for £9.99 and why not. Tried the garlic mushrooms with garlic bread, very garlicky (just the way I like it) Roast dinner with all the trimmings, Yorkshire puddings best I'd had in ages. Reminded me of the home cooked meals I had along fine ago. Finished off with home made white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake, it was totally amazing. What with this and their loyalty card scheme well with a visit. They even do take outs too. Well with a visit

went for food at the chancel, omg, it was shocking, it is clear they have a new cook and obvious they don't know what they are doing. would avoid if i was you, food was very bland, it was cold, only took a few bites, had to leave the rest, luckily didnt eat enough for food poisoning. very disappointed, used to be good for food. wont be returning in the near future.

Very nice old pub feel. Clean and tidy and the staff are really friendly. Good to hear music from the 70's 80's and 90's. First time there and would be happy to return.

Spent a couple hrs this afternoon in the beer garden and then a couple hrs this evening, I have to say ,what an absolutely fantastic job the staff are doing keeping up with all the covid precautions and equally all the customers demands working incredibly hard ,can't praise them enough !!! ,well done

Popped into the chancel for the first time in years, we found it very welcoming I have to say....we both had good the wife had liver and onions, I had the steak pie, and both we agreed was excellent, the presentation of the food was great....smooth and fast service and well priced. Would I recommend it 100% and certainly will be going back...

We popped in here for a bite to eat on a Sat lunch time. 7 adults and 2 children. Having eaten here previously since new ownership the food is very nice and well priced. This didn’t let us down once again. What did was the member of staff behind the bar. If looks could kill when we walked in! We were made to feel unwanted / an inconvenience. Ordering the drinks first I noticed a few of the glasses had thick pink lipstick on these, we asked for the drinks to be replaced, they were - poured from one dirty glass to another. We gave up at this point. The food was then served quickly, well 6 of the 7 were, she rudely said. Oh there was “two chicken was there” a moment later a kinder female member of staff came through, explained the mix up, apologised and said it wouldn’t be long. Mistakes happen, we are all human, it how we approach them that matters, if it had been dealt with as kindly as the second member of staff did, it would be a higher score. Overall, I’m not sure I’ll return. A friendly greeting costs nothing these days.

Went for a quick family lunch. Staff surly, glasses caked in old lipstick (no apology) and toilets filthy. Quality of food was good though when delivered (one of the meals came five mins after the last one).

This pub is on the up. Great value food and drink. The home made pies and lasagne are lovely. Only improvement would be real chips rather than frozen. Friendly staff and service. Cleaner and fresher with each visit, I hope regulars of the dolphin give it a go. Keep up the good work!

Under new management Angie and Eugene, brilliant very friendly, they have worked wonders with the Chancel, after many years of miss management. Starting to serve home cooked food on the 3rd of February, looking forward to sampling it. At last it looks like someone really knows what they are doing.
