White Bear Public House & Restaurant in North Lincolnshire

We visit the White Bear on regular occasions and we are never disappointed. The very friendly staff and warmth of the pub is so inviting. The food is outstanding and also it’s lovely to just call in for a drink too. Especially on those sunny days when sitting out in the lovely beer garden really helps you to relax and switch off. If you have dogs and whilst out on a walk you fancy a quick pit stop drink, then call in, they are dog friendly and even have a jar of treats for the dogs and of course plenty of water for them to drink too!! If you are ever looking for good quality food and a friendly atmosphere, then look no further. You won’t be disappointed. Nothing is ever a bother and the owners and staff are happy to help in anyway they can. We will continue to visit and alway recommend The White Bear to people when they are looking for a new place to go for a lovely meal and/or drinks! Don’t ever lose sight of what an amazing job you all do! Thank you and see you all again very soon.

Have been meaning to leave a review for so long but always end up in a food coma and forgetting to! A trip to The White Bear always hits the spot. The menu is vast and there is always something to suit even the pickiest of eaters, including dedicated vegan and vegetarian menus. As you can see, my favourite is a rare filet with a glass of Primitivo (my mouth is watering just thinking about both). The staff are lovely, hospitable and welcoming. Nothing is ever too much trouble. The place is extremely dog friendly too - they always get spoilt rotten whilst here!

The food and service in a lovely rich older-style environment were great ... Until I used the gents toilet and gagged at the strong overwhelming odour of urine. Loos were reasonably clean but clearly in the cubicle there has been a longstanding urine ingress into the floor. Decent experience ruined by this issue.

The food here was fantastic and great value for money. Very nice staff. Well worth a visit. The pinza bread for starter is fantastic

Great place!, the best chateaubriand we have ever had!, (£75.00 as of 01/01/2025)it was so soft and cooked to perfection, the sides were amazing and the peppercorn sauce was delicious, the staff are friendly and helpful, well worth a visit!,

Ordered egg and chips for lunch. Charged full price of £16 which was the cost including ham which as a vegetarian I did not want. When the bill came I queried full price expecting this to be a mistake. Landlady insisted on the full £16 with no apology or explanation. We will not return.

A little hidden gem great Sunday lunch might be slightly expensive but they're VERY generous with the size especially the meat . Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff can't recommend it enough.

I was called out in a storm to fix a problem on the road outside. The friendly gentleman from the pub kindly invited me in for a coffee and to warm myself up. I am very grateful for their kindness.

Never been here before even though I only live a few miles away but I’ll definitely be back! Went for Sunday lunch with friends, we all had a delicious, plentiful roast and the sweets were so lovely too and well presented. Loved the pub inside with the different seating areas. Pleasant waiting on staff too. Looking forward to the next time 😊

just had my birthday meal at the White Bear .. we had fillet steak that was cooked to perfection and apple crumble for dessert that was also yummy !!! staff are lovely the girl that served us was very cheery and polite .. 10/10 we will be calling again soon .

Great cosy pub with great food, great drink and great friendly service. One of, if not the best Sunday roast

First tome visiting the white bear...the restaurant was lovely nicely decorated throughout..was greeted by a young waitress and taken to put table even though we were early ...we got asked straight away what drinks we would like and a menu was given to use to choose from we all choose a Sunday dinner which was delicious home made toast potatoes in goose fat ...home made Yorkshire puds and 4 slices of meat beef and gammon I had home made gravy too separate dish with vegetables in it which whre broccoli carrots and cabbage we choose to gave a cauliflower cheese too and mashed potatoes there were 3 of us I can stay the food was amazing the service and everything about it would highly recommend and will be back.

Ate here with old friends in October 2024. The food was great (I had a Rib Eye Steak) cooked well and the pepper sauce was a really nice addition. The staff were friendly and I loved this place.

Enjoyed the tapas Thursday menu ! Superb value ..3 dishes , ciabatta and a large glass of wine for £20.. 5 of us all had excellent food.

What a treat to go out for Sunday lunch and to be made so welcome inspite of being coeliac and only tolerating minimal dairy products. I had the turkey dinner which was delicious and plentiful. Matt (the owner/chef) cooked some new potatoes in olive oil with garlic and seasalt (delicious) to avoid the buttered roast potatoes and produced freshly cooked seasonal vegetables and a separate gravy all without dairy. The bit of dairy I did have was the gluten free yorkshire pudding. Matt is coeliac so totally gets it. My husband, who doesn't have any dietary requirements had the roast gammon dinner and also enjoyed his meal. I can thoroughly recommend eating at The White Bear. A big thank you to Matt and all the staff for their kindness today.

Booked a table for a Sunday roast after being recommended, didn’t disappoint, the 3 meat roast came and the meat was piled up, great portions and very tasty, pleasant pub with a great atmosphere.

Sunday lunch, nothing special for the price. Had cheaper and better at several places elsewhere.

White Bear never fail to deliver on service. The food is delicious and a trusted pub for gluten free food if you are coeliac. All the staff are lovely and friendly and it is always a pleasant experience. We also enjoy a Sunday lunch take away.

Beautiful food, cosy atmosphere, polite and hardworking staff. Would definitely recommend and we will visit again. Thoroughly enjoyed our steaks which were cooked to perfection and flavoursome and the desserts were delicious and sizeable portions.

Only went here for the tomahawk steak…I wasn’t disappointed. This was cooked to perfection. I made the mistake of having a starter and finishing my missus as well, only to be served a gigantic meal. Hats off to the chef, personally came to ask how I would like my steak cooked. Will be returning with friends and family.

Went to The White Bear for the first time today. We often just get in the car go for a drive and find new places to eat. We were made to feel welcome immediately we hadn’t booked but they said if we can just have a drink at a table and they would sort us one asap The lovely character pub was buzzing with diners and drinkers. Felt like stepping back in time Quirky rooms slanting floors and walls it’s just delightful We were seated at the dining table within 15 minutes and promptly ordered our food We both had roasts I had turkey my husband have beef. Everything was hot and delicious beautiful gravy the most delicious roast potatoes literally could not fault it. Vegetables served in a dish on the side lovely and hot carrots had a little bite to them well seasoned white cabbage and broccoli Minor critique £5 charge for cauliflower cheese which was ok but lacked cheese sauce it was as if cheese had just been melted on the top. My husband had the crème brûlée for desert which was absolutely beautiful They can do nothing about this but purely for information the car park is tiny so we parked just up the road and it wasn’t a p We will definitely be back Lovely service lovely venue

We went for a meal to the pub and it was very very cold inside and staff was very unfriendly! Food was very expensive and not very good! Certainly we would not recommend!

Disappointed with the whole evening the burgers were dry when your paying £23 pounds you do expect it to be decent. The pub was also freezing. And we all felt as if the staff were wanting an early night didn't feel comfortable sorry to say.

I've been to this pub several times and then try a Sunday lunch elsewhere, but nowhere compares to The White Bear Sunday roast. The portions are huge, the meat is tender just the best Sunday lunch in this area. Value for money and home cooked, it's an absolute bargain for the price. The staff are so lovely too. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. 😁

Visited The White Bear on Saturday evening. The staff were very friendly and were happy to accommodate the 5 of us and two dogs. Gave advice on places to visit. The food was excellent too. Will visit again next time we are in the area.

Away for the weekend with friends, went for an evening meal. Food was amazing, Friendly staff and great service . Allow dogs in and our 2 , Oscar and Willow were made a fuss of . All round great place ,highly recommend

The manager or owner or whoever runs this place should be absolutely ashamed of themselves!!! Spoke to myself and my friends like dirt on the bottom of her shoe just because one of them couldn’t afford to eat there and so brought a meal deal to sit and eat in the beer garden with her drinks. Had the owner come out and been polite about this from the get go it wouldn’t have been an issue and there would have been understanding there- however the lack of customer service skills was appalling, she came outside and just completely started on us being extremely cocky and snarky towards the three of us which I think was unwarranted considering we payed the extortionate prices of the drinks there and would argue deserved more respect than that. Afterwards my friend went inside just to clear the air with the manager and was completely shut down and spoken to like absolute rubbish- calling her a little girl. I found that to be quite condescending as although we are only a group of young girls we were more than respectful and I even payed £7 for some cheesy chips as it’s all I could afford. I just found the service to be disgraceful and you certainly will not be getting mine, or anyone I knows business again.

Considering the current struggle for businesses at the moment, I expected better service, especially considering we were the only 4 people in there, also spending a good amount of money. I thought it was general knowledge to politely ask a customer to stop or to leave if they’re doing something you don’t like or allow. Clearly not. According to the owner it is appropriate to threaten them and proceed to throw insults at them. Although I had been warned by a couple of people prior to going that the owner was rude, I didn’t let this effect my decision to go, however, the owner certainly proved them right. We couldn’t have been anymore polite and understanding, so in no way did we deserve this sort of disrespect. Wouldn’t recommend.

Always good pub food. Quiet on a weekday so relative and I were able to chat and have a catch up. Caters well for members of my family who are vegetarian vegan gluten and dairy free which is not always possible in some.

Went for Mother's day lunch. It appeared that the beef, gammon and turkey had been purchased pre cooked and vacuum packed, ready for slicing (or even cooked, sliced and vacuum packed owing to the consistency of the slices and lack of roasted taste). The potatoes were also tasted that they had been purchased ready cooked and vacuum packed, ready for browning in a deep fat fryer. The vegetables by there preparation appeared also vacuum packed. The only item homemade was the Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Such a shame, but with pubs struggling to find trained chefs: boil in the bag and the microwave seems the order of the day. I challenge the White Bear to state otherwise and look forward to their comments.

We booked a table at the The White Bear for lunch today! (New Years Day) The food was so good. We all had the roast. The meat was so tender. I had beef and turkey and it was plentiful. Lovely veg cooked perfectly, not soggy and not too hard, just right. The portions were really large and lots of veg. Couldn't fault it at all. Thank you 😀

Great pub in the village. The food is amazing. One of my favourite places to have pint and grub. The rack ribs are huge and one of the best items on the menu. Along with any of the steaks.

Arrived at the white bear to a warm, festive atmosphere, the pub it decorated beautifully for the Christmas season. The food did not disappoint, reading other reviews some people have said it’s pricey, I feel the portions sizes were most generous the food was pipping hot, the presentation was excellent, you may be able to get a Sunday dinner cheaper but in my opinion you pay for what you get. We were made to feel very welcome the staff were very attentive although the pub was very busy we were well looked after. Would highly recommend.

We pre booked a table,but you would of thought so ,we was sat right next to the bar on a small table ,the food was average ,when the staff asked how was your food I said the table was the problem ,whilst trying to eat our food I was knocked in the back several times by the staffs order bag ,and my chair kicked by people passing but the worst was when people came in because we was sat next to the bookings diary ,I practically had customers coats in my food ,she replied ( nowt we can do about that ) I said there is remove the table , and before you think I'm a moaner I go for Sunday lunches every week ,and never complained before , disappointed ,

Great place to eat food amazing

Had a nice mixed grill .Mrs had kebab hanger bbq chicken . And step daughter had kids nuggets and chips cannot knock the food was banging . Just the prices .never seen a mixed grill priced at £30 as most have commented about the prices. Very nice pub food go and decide for yourselves is the best idea .

Went for Sunday dinner it was lovely cheesecake to die for was made very welcome and would just like to thank staff who looked after me after I had a fall on way to pub ice pack was much appreciated sprained ankle and a few bruises but okay Thankyou once again will be back .

There were 3 of us and we ordered the Bear burger and home cooked lamb burger. The burgers were tough and tasteless, the chips soft and oily, the relish also tasteless. I really struggled to eat mine. With 2 glasses of wine the bill came to £72.50. I came away feeling pretty fed up. It is difficult to explain the price for such a very disappointing food experience.

Table service only, but the waiting staff are very attentive and your glass isn't empty for long. Food was delicious and portions were more than generous. Will definitely return

Just gets better….. been eating here for many years and the quality of the meals and service just keeps on getting better. Arguably there are cheaper local places to go to but it’s all down to great staff,quality and quantity and that’s where the Bear...

Decided to try the white Bear and can honestly say we were not disappointed,from start to finish it was excellent the Sunday roast which I had two roast was amazing especially the roast potatoes which were the best;I did make sure I left room for dessert I had lemon meringue roulade my favourite my sister had chocolate fudge cake which also looked delicious.the service was also excellent can honestly say we couldn't fault anything it was well worth the drive there.

Good food, good sized portion, nice atmosphere. If a little on the spendy side. Cheap and cheerful it is not but well worth a visit if you have a bit of spare change. 2 of us ate and had a couple of drinks for 50quid.
