Where to start, easy look elsewhere! We compared on Google & decided on this one as advertised free breakfast & wifi, well neither were an option well WIFI is in public area in pub not rooms, went down for breakfast at time suggested by welcome book & we should have prebooked also it was not included! We could pay extra so found a cheap cafe! Also NO hot water or heating on at night so had to use a small electric heater in subzero temps! Just got told it was a mistake by Google with regards to breakfast! Sadly won't be heading back didn't bother going back to try n mention about other issues as the staff didn't seem to bothered about the place.

Didn't stay here just popped in for some food and drinks. Service abrupt. Told half hour wait on food orders ..55 mins later it arrived. Gravy extremely salty and the chips were over cooked. Server did nothing but complain how busy it was and was seriously frazzled and appeared to be on her own . Cleaning tables then running to serve food then back behind the bar. No sauces offered . Issue over cutlery and spoken to like a 5 year old . Wouldn't return to this pub if we were in the area again. Ruined the end of our holiday. Had to travel home feeling hungry and horrible taste from the gravy. Disappointed as the food that was served to others while we were waiting looked really good .

Hotel Lord Nelson is a charming and historic hotel located in the heart of Brigg, a picturesque town in Lincolnshire, England. Dating back to the 17th century, the hotel is a classic building with a well-preserved facade that reflects its rich history. The building has a traditional English pub style, with rustic wooden beams, open fires and a warm, inviting atmosphere that permeates the entire hotel. The hotel offers a range of comfortable and tastefully decorated rooms, all equipped with modern facilities without compromising on the historic charm. The rooms have a cozy and homely atmosphere, making it an ideal place for both business travelers and tourists who want an authentic experience. One of the most notable features of Hotel Lord Nelson is its traditional pub and restaurant. The pub serves a selection of local ales and classic British dishes made with fresh, local produce. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere where guests can enjoy a hearty meal after a day exploring the area. The location in Brigg is also a big advantage, as the town is known for its charm and historical significance. Guests can take a leisurely stroll through the town's narrow streets, visit local shops and markets, or explore the surrounding countryside, which offers scenic hiking trails and historic sights. Overall, Hotel Lord Nelson is an excellent choice for those seeking an authentic English experience in a historic and welcoming setting.

What a nice surprise. Having a walk around Brigg and decided to find somewhere to eat and came across this venue. I ordered omelette, my husband ordered the house curry, both meals were delicious and very well presented. The staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be returning.

Popped into Brigg to take our minds off of loosing our dog. Decided to have a bite to eat and chose this venue. I had the omlette, my husband had a madras curry. Both meals were spot on and very well presented, the service was excellent, the staff were very friendly despite being extremely busy preparing a buffet. The atmosphere was so nice, we'll definitely return.

My family and I were meeting my sister and he son at Lord Nelson for lunch. We met up and were shown to our table. We ordered our meal from a menu given to us We were looking forward to our meal but sadly were disappointed. Those who ordered the gammon found it very salty. My burger was cold and very dry. I think the Lord Nelson is fine for drinks and a chat, but not for food. The staff were friendly.

Nicely presented large pub in the center of Brigg, does rooms as well. We'll kept local real ales along with the usual lagers at reasonable prices. Seems popular for food , the usual pub fare but seems popular and reasonable priced. A more personal experience is offered than the Wetherspoons down the road.

We have visited for lunch a couple of times in recent weeks and the food is good, well cooked but by no means exceptional. If you just need to eat or meet visitors to town it is a large pub and always seems to have plenty of tables available. A wide range of food on the menu too. Staff maybe not as welcoming and helpful as you would like but not unpleasant or rude.

I’m not usually one to complain but the food and service was appalling. First when upon arrival the girl with red hair was so rude and couldn’t pull herself to smile. Then when we once got out food it was awful, I could barely cut my meat, the potato’s were rock solid and my peas were frozen and the beef was pink. When we got our desserts the same girl slammed our plates down with so much force that I thought the plates would break. After talking to another employee about how rude the girl with red hair was she ensured us that she would put our word forward and then we overheard her talking very loudly about us saying “they’ve got bigger things to complain about.” This behaviour was completely unacceptable and the food was practically inedible.

Everytime ive gone there in the past few weeks (4 times), they have 'just stopped serving food'. I asked the girl behind the bar the other night what time do you stop serving she said 19:00. Ive just been back in at 18:30 and the man behind the bar said they've already stopped for the evening. Either serve food in the early evening or dont.

It was dated and needing a make over. Ripped wallpaper. Plaster coming off the wall and a bright green light in the centre of the room that lot the room up all night. The window didn't open and it was ono e of the hottest days in July. Very unhappy. We will not be back!!!!

We arrived at the Lord Nelson where the parking is situated at the back & is free at weekends. The staff were warm & friendly & the pub is really quirky & well done out. We were staying the night & had 5 rooms booked for our friends. The rooms were nice & clean with large beds & tea & coffee facilities. There is a large beer garden & plenty of space too meet friends inside & out. We ate breakfast in the morning & it was great they do a small & a large & a small is enough for a medium appetite as come with toast & tea & the usual fry up items, the large is 2 of everything. I will definitely be staying here again. The pub is central in town.

Arrived on a Saturday lunch as a group of 6 with dogs. Asked about a table, the lovely young lady managing the bar by herself explained only one side of the pub allows dogs and that there was a table reserved for 2pm, but if we would be finished by then we could sit there. Ordered promptly, nice varied menu and decent prices. As our food was about to come out (1pm) a male in an apron very aggressively approached our table explaining the group reservation were early. It took some time for him to offer an alternative table which we were more than happy with. He then made lots of huffing and puffing for dramatic effect carrying tables and chairs down to accommodate us. We moved immediately and the male who I presume is the owner/manager was more pleasant at this time although his attitude about the fantastic young lady managing the bar single handedly was appalling, blaming her for the error. The food had clearly been sat under a hot plate whilst we played musical chairs so was all dried up and not pleasant. Other than this the food was adequate, pleasant enough. We left (before 2pm, despite having taken longer due to the table move ) without another word from the manager. I seriously hope the young woman working the bar is snapped up by another pub and she is treated with the respect she deserves rather than surrounded by the chaotic and inept manger she currently works for. Won’t be returning which is a shame as it’s a nice venue in the town.

We booked in advance as a party of 10 and made it clear at the time of the booking my wife had to eat gluten free, and we was told this wouldn't be a problem. I again made it clear at the bar that my wife's carvery meal must be gluten free, so it was disappointing when the meals came to our table and no one seemed to know anything about one of our party being gluten free and my wife was served a regular carvery. This was sent back and a GF carvery came back a few minutes later. I enquired which of the deserts on offer was GF and was told by the lady chef none on the menu, but they had some almond bakewell tarts which were GF and sounded quite nice. I ordered that for my wife and it was particularly disappointing when, as the rest of us were being served our deserts my wife was told that they've just realised they actually didn't have any GF bakewell tarts at all and they'd have to refund us for that, so as the rest of us had pudding my wife had nothing and just had to watch on. Guys, it's 2023 and over 2,000,000 people in the UK suffer with some kind of food intolerance, there's really no excuse to not be on the ball with this. The staff were friendly enough and the food was OK for the rest of us, but we left underwhelmed for what we paid and in my wife's case disappointed and still hungry.

Walked in to a lovely looking traditional pub, it seemed to be split into two sides and we sat on the quieter side. A small Sunday dinner menu and we were ready to order. Waited at the bar and was acknowledged from the other side, we continued to wait and more people were queuing the other side, the barmaid continued to see us but not mention to queue the other side. Another staff member came on who grunted to wait, he then continued to go to the other side to serve people who hadn’t waited as long. We were disappointed in the poor communication and service and walked out. Wouldn’t recommend. Such a shame!

Went as couple last week for lunch, pub was very quiet, one person ordered just before us and another couple few minutes afterwards, no one else. Gentleman's order came out, fish and chips, same as my husbands so thought ours would be on its way. We waited, then the couple after us got their meals, we waited some more then we asked and was told it was on its way but waited some more. When the 2 meals did eventually arrive no apology was given. Food to be fair was OK but wait too long, can't imagine what they do when busy.

Excellent pint of local beer to start, my wife had white coffee , hot milk supplied in small jug. Food cooked to order, so a bit of a wait, but worth it. I had large Yorkshire pudding filled with liver and onions, arrived hot, was tasty and filling, my wife had soup and fish and chips from pensioners menu. Travelling through the area, and having been here before, we decided to visit again. The pub/restaurant is large and it was easy to locate a free table. The bar was not very busy and provided quite a relaxed atmosphere. The menu contained a good range and requirements were ordered and paid for at the bar. The quantity and quality of the food was very good, and served in reasonable time. We did experience a slight delay in being able to pay but overall our visit was pleasant

We booked a table at the Lord Nelson/Hardys for the Brigg Xmas light switch on. Never been before but it turned out to be a fab choice. The meal took a little while to arrive but that was expected due to how busy all of Brigg was. We ordered a variety of meals including a mixed grill, 2 x Home made Lasagne, Two Admiral burgers (with Stilton and black pudding), & a Spanish option burger with chorizo. We all enjoyed our meals very much and it was reasonably priced. Would def recommend if you are looking for something a little more upmarket than wetherspoons (not a dig at wetherspoons in brigg, just the meals here were tastier). All I would of liked that was not really available would have been a selection of ales instead of designer lagers. But that is a personal preference drink wise.

We have been several times here as a couple and with a group and I have to say we have never had a bad meal since the refurbishment and new menu. Went yesterday with just my husband and we both had a lovely meal which was well presented, freshly cooked, and served by friendly staff. Neither of us eat animals and we had plenty of choice and were both full after the meal. We have been with friends who eat anything and they were just as enthusiastic about their meals. Prices are good too. I would recommend calling here. I am not sure if this review is meant to be in the Hardys bar section or the Nelson, so I will repeat it in both as we feel that the efforts of the staff should not be held back by some of the older negative reviews there.

La razón principal para venir a este pub es el fuego, lo que hace que el servicio y cutre entorno pagua más soportable. Went for a celebratory birthday meal to the Sheffield Arms which had come highly recommended. We weren't disappointed. It was the best 'pub' meal I've had in years. Two had meals from the menu and two of us had the wonderful all you can eat carvery. Everyone enjoyed their meals (lasagne and Yorkshire Pudding wrap) but the carvery was exceptional. Great choice of vegetables, meats, sausages and the most gorgeous baby potatoes. The staff were great, very cheerful and friendly and the puddings were delicious too. I understand that the Sunday carvery has even more choice. We paid £9.95 for the carvery - brilliant value. The pub is beautifully decorated; of course it was busy but the service was excellent. It still retains a local feel but definitely book if you want a meal. Thank you!!!!
