Food absolutely fantastic. Went for Sunday lunch. Everything cooked to order . Tables bit close but food out of this world.

Service and staff good. Food terrible. Sunday roast was appalling. Dry over cooked beef and gloopy gravy. Could do much better with little effort.

Had an excellent family Sunday lunch, couldn't fault it. Been again on a Sunday with friends. Same great Sunday lunch, will return.

The Old School Inn were very accommodating for a private function earlier this month. Opened on a day they would not be usually open and staff came in especially for us. Provided excellent food and staff were brilliant! Thank you 😊

Really nice location, attentive service from Amy and the team. She let us know that the food would be little slow, this wasn't a problem for us. I had butterflied King prawns lovely! My wife had the duck balls equally delicious. I had sea bream 2 fillets with risotto and the most amazing roasted kale really crispy and tasty! My wife had stroganoff with fillet steak and oyster mushrooms And really nice vegetable rice and skinny chips. On the whole, excellent! Thanks again Amy and team, far better than "pub grub" but for a comparable price . A real revellation! we will be regular visitors. Thanks! Tony and Lynne Parker-Jones.

The food was excellent, but the portion sizes were way too big. Our server Ewan was friendly and efficient. A choice of three real ales was a pleasant surprise. The ambience was fine, but we were constantly disturbed by a lady sitting at her laptop at a nearby table talking loudly on her phone.

A wonderful place! Staff super friendly, food delicious and highly reccomend Sunday lunch. Their selection of wines is recommendable. It is also dog friendly. What more could you ask for

Lovely pub, taken over fairly recently & is just getting better and better. Only open Friday to Sunday at the minute & no food just yet, but if you're in the area well worth a visit for a delicious pint of ale & relaxed friendly atmosphere. North Hill's a pretty town too and there is plenty of good walks nearby

Menu on website completely different the actual menu was very basic.Food was very processed tasting as if it was all ready meals and oven chips. Very disappointing will not eat here again

Booked a meal, paid deposit, had a health problem, really high blood pressure, chest pains, unable to attend, phoned a few hours before to cancel my place, my group were charged full price for a meal I never got. They never even sent me the food! Very discompassionate! £28 for nothing! Won't be going there again. Did nothing for my blood pressure! Don't prebook!

attended last night with a group of 26 ladies. a long time since ive been here but the food was absolutely fabulous both in presentation and taste. service quick and efficient despite the size of our group and with a smile would highly recommend

The old school inn at Epworth has got to be one of the best meals we’ve had in a while As soon as you walk in the atmosphere is welcoming the staff are lovely and very attentive We ordered some drinks at the bar and then found a table for us After a few minutes the waitress came with the menu We ordered the silverside of beef and also the braised beef and onion They came with all the trimmings the Yorkshire pudding was massive we also got a bowl with cauliflower cheese and broccoli My husband loved his meal and mine was way too much for me and I felt bad leaving some on the plate as it was absolutely delicious but i physically could not eat any more lol It was fairly priced and for the 2 of us came to around £36 altogether We will definitely be recommending this place to friends and family and we will return in the future too These did not disappoint at all

Went for a meal for 4 people last night and I can honestly say the food was brilliant big portion sizes the service was excellent the atmosphere got a little bit loud but we enjoyed it thank you for everything we will return

Went for a 50th and though I do not normally review, just had too.. Both the food and service was excepional.. Great staff, absolutely no complaints.. All more than accommodating for a party of 7.. Thoroughly enjoyable and we'll worth the visit..

We visited on a quiet quiet, sunny Saturday. We were welcomed on arrival and the service was excellent throughout our visit. The food was so tasty, each part of it showing some creative flair from the chef. The drinks were cold and an explore of the outside space cemented that I’d be very lucky to have this as my local.

Great food and service at The Old School Inn in Epworth. Six of us had Sunday lunch there and ate in the bar area as there was also a dog in the party. The staff were very polite, friendly and attentive. The Sunday roasts were probably one of the best pub roasts we had eaten. All the plates were cleaned off and we'd definitely recommend the The Old School Inn for Sunday lunch. Perhaps George Ezra on repeat could have been changed but other personal tastes are available. The pub garden was also very spacious with plenty of seating, not to be missed when it does decide to stop raining in the UK. We'll certainly be back if we attend another festival in Wroot or at the Epworth Showground. No photos unfortunately, we simply started eating and enjoyed the food too much to stop.

Service was a little slow but the food was lovely. We will be going back nice beer garden

Called for Sunday lunch the best I have tasted in a long time

Visited with friends for Sunday dinner and what a treat we had. Met by the friendly staff, a great choice of quality drinks on offer to suit all. Three of us had the beef diner and one had the pork. Has to be without a doubt the best Sunday dinner I’ve had out to date. Everything was cooked to perfection and full of flavour & nice and tender. The giant yorkshire pudding topped it off. Sat and enjoyed a few beers in the sun trap beer garden afterwards. Highly recommended

Delicious food and the service was amazing. Very quiet, so I was able to talk, not shout as it was my daughter's birthday. It's not that expensive. Would recommend going.

Food was amazing but a table of (I think) 4 finished dining before we ordered and a table of 2 were eating as we ordered (otherwise empty restaurant) and it still took 40 minutes for our orders to arrive. What happens when the restaurant is full?!

Proper pubby pub. The beer was reasonable. No food today. Lots of local punters, well it was a Saturday afternoon.

A very average meal. Quite a long wait from giving our order to it arriving, small portions and very little veg. Not in a rush to go again. Oh, and don’t call customers in their 60s ‘guys’ . It’s disrespectful.

I booked The Old School Inn for 14 people following my grandsons christening, I was not disappointed! Nicola the manager personally coordinated the booking making sure everything was right, my family had come over from Toronto so we needed everything to be perfect and it was, Nicola even came in on the day to make sure all was well, even though it was her day off! The food was brilliant, well worth every penny and nobody came away disappointed. Can’t wait for our next visit.

My wife ordered sirloin steak. When it arrived, it bore no resemblance whatsoever to Sirloin. Asked to speak to the chef who refused. Didnt eat this chewy lump of beef, nor paid. This is the second occassion we have had poor food and poor service. Wont be eating there again

13 January 2023. We were a party of 4 and we all chose the prawn starter, 2 fillet steaks, duck and fish & chips. The waitress then returned to our table a number of times firstly to say there was no Bearnaise sauce for the 2 fillet steaks so we changed to sirloin steak. She then came back some time later to say there was no cod for the fish and chips but could substitute sea bass, not really appropriate so changed to another sirloin steak, all medium rare. Next, there was no potato gratin to accompany the duck. She then came back to say there were only 2 portions of the prawn starter. One person changed to a different starter from a very poor choice and the other three agreed to share the two prawn starters between them. It was a surprise that so many menu items were unavailable given that we were the only diners in the restaurant area. When the steaks arrived 2 of them were rare. The third was actually raw inside and cold and was sent back to the kitchen. All the steaks were very poor, being chewy and sinewy. Obviously, we decided against a dessert and asked for the bill. This arrived with the original 4 prawn starters listed, meaning an overcharge of some £15. When this had been rectified we paid and left, never to return.

Pro fox hunting venue, ,make own mind up if you want to support them. Food ok though.

A lovely Sunday lunch in a lovely building. Far exceeded our expectations, we we're really pleasantly surprised. Far more than a pub lunch but with reasonable prices.

Absolutely shocking. Terrible service. Whole table of 5 ordered, and then on the last order the chef said he wasn’t taking any more orders and was very very rude. Won’t be coming again absolutely disgusting behaviour on behalf of your staff

First time visiting and the interior decoration was lovely which gave me high expectations for the food. The food was great we had a Sunday lunch only slight fly in the ointment so to speak was no butter with our starters both the garlic mushrooms and soup came with bread but no butter which we thought was odd but we still enjoyed it.

Staff lovely just never enough of them when they put an event on. They run out of gin glasses and fruit. Prices never the same, even though the rounds are. Hot weather, perfect beer garden, why not put a bottle bar outside £2 a bottle. Could easily be a 4* but not looking after the audience 😔

Excellent meal with very good service. Wild boar was cooked perfect and the food presented beautifully. Chef was warm and welcoming. Beer garden is lovely and worth visiting on a nice sunny day.

Went for Sunday lunch with family’s all of us noticed everything tasted salty from the veg to the gravy. Pointed this out to the waitress who was very defensive and told she would inform the chef. Starters and desserts were average for the price. All the party were very disappointed. The staff were miserable including the bar staff and no atmosphere in the place . We used to come here prior to covid times and was much better. We won’t be returning.

We haven't eaten dinner at the School Inn since 2019 and this was the first time the whole family could get together. Not surprisingly the chef and menu have changed in the two years. We were greeted warmly by the staff and Ellie showed us to our table and listed the specials. There were no starter specials and all of the main specials were meat - a nice choice (Wagyu sirloin, wild boar, crocodile, kangaroo) but all meat. The menu had surf n turf, pork loin, sea bass but the only vegetarian dish was butter squash risotto. For starters we chose 2 king prawns on a lovely fresh salsa and a tomato soup which was very rich and tasty. For mains we had 2 sea bass which came on roasted mediterranean veg, the Wagyu sirloin and the wild boar. The wild boar was lovely served on finely chopped cabbage, celeriac, carrot and smoked pancetta. The Wagyu sirloin was very nice but not so special. Truffle mash as a side was very tasty. Ellie was great at serving and very attentive. With drinks the bill was not so cheap but decent value overall. We sat in the main bar area which was fine but you can get a more "restaurant" atmosphere if you sit in the restaurant. area I feel for the veggies out there who would not get much choice at the pub.

Fantastic food and a great place to go.

Absolutely amazing. We eat out A LOT, and this was the best meal out we've ever had. My 11 Yr old son had swordfish and thought it was the nicest thing he'd ever tasted! The staff were very attentive and the chef came out to speak to us when we wished to give praise. It was getting busy as we left as there was a band on. Just wish I didn't have to work tomorrow as the atmosphere was amazing.

Haven't eaten in this place for a few years so decided to try it again, I will not be eating here again any time soon. The food was of very poor quality , myself and my partner had the muscles for starters these tasted old very smelly and chewy. The service was painfully slow and the food took alot if time to come out despite it not being so busy. I will not be visiting this establishment again....

Have visited several times for evening drink and often meet friends there. Had a Sunday lunch with family sometime ago in the bar and thoroughly enjoyed it so decided to go on our own in the restaurant. Not many in, but the food was delicious....

We ate in the restaurant on a Fri evening. The building is lovely, better on the inside esp in the restaurant. The service was great, staff were attentive and friendly but not over the top. The food was delicious. Definitely visit again

Our third visit and after two lovely previous visits, this time we opted for the sharing meat and cheese platter. For £18 we were looking forward to it. We asked if it came with bread/crackers as one would expect, to be told it did not...

Came for our Xmas do, the staff were amazing... especially Aoife on the bar, she was excellent at sorting our drinks and even helped put on some music for us all as there was a large number in our party. Had a lovely smile on...

Lovely meal as usual very festive atmosphere

First time here and chose this from the reviews on Google. The staff where very friendly and efficient. The food was spot on. My wife and I both plumped for the pie of the day - steak and ale with chunky chips. Just walking in to the place and we felt comfortable straight away. Would we go back? Definitely! The 30min drive for us is well worth it. Try it for yourself... We're confident you'll not be disappointed.

All I can say is that this place is fantastic! You guys have a wide variety of great beers. Surely, I will come back for the fish and chips.

Our experience visiting the Old School Inn was great. The setting was lovely, we were lucky to go on a nice day, so we sat in the very pretty garden. The staff were lovely, very friendly and attentive. The food was nice, the tripled cooked chips were a major hit with one of our party. The only reason I didn't give five stars is that the menu has a distinct lack of vegetarian options. Luckily I do occasionally eat fish so I was happy. But it would have been nice to have options of vegetarian food. We will definitely be back and I'm sorry I couldn't give five stars because our experience was very good.

We have been several times. It can get busy if the weather is good. So having a bar meal can be very noisy. Our last visit we used the restaurant as we were a party of 8. The service and food were very good. We could talk and catch up with news etc.
