Excellent! We had a caesar salad, onion rings, sauté greens, veggie lover's foccia and they were VERY good! Veg was fresh, sauces tasted really good, and service was quality care with classic Scottish hospitality.

Food was overpriced for what it was, the menu was very limited the selection wasn’t great at all. Most definitely not the standard I’d expect from a restaurant within a marriot hotel I was expecting much more. Can’t fault the staff they were very attentive but we were the only two people in the restaurant to begin with ! The buffet/ self service food I don’t know how that was organised I can only assume it was some sort of package there was folk in and out helping themselves and it looked amazing and some good items on display When tables did come in to order from the menu we witnessed folk walk back out after five minutes looking at the menu !! Tbh if I wasn’t totally drained and shaking needing something to eat I’d have ordered elsewhere and had it delivered Like I said the hotel review is a lot more details bu let the pics speak for themselves over the “value” for. £63 bill

Food standard is fair, no real complaints but it certainly does not reflect the mammoth bill you'll get at the end. Service standard I'd call 'functional'. The place was pretty quiet and we were sat away from the main restaurant at a big cold window on a cold night, then the family who came in after us were sat next to the fire exit at a far away corner of the restaurant. After paying we were followed out and asked if we had paid..... Definitely some hospitality training required. As it stands we won't be back. Do yourself a favour and go to the carvery down the road, you'll be far more satisfied.

L’hotel dove noi alloggiavamo non aveva il ristorante, così abbiamo deciso di spostarci senza fare troppi km ma seguendo le recensioni. Ambiente inglobato in un noto hotel, non hanno la grazia nell’accoglienza, comunque abbiamo scelto dal menù cose semplici , per lui hamburger e per me fish and chips, tutto molto banale, avevo aspettative diverse da questo noto grill🙁

We both had steak. I couldn't eat mine, I was chewing for ever and couldn't swallow it. My wife said hers was OK. Wine was good

The food was amazing, steak cooked to perfection. Service may need a lot more training as we had to wait for drinks and ask him three times. Also they were unsure about their food in terms of allergens and intolerances

Terrible service tonight. Not very busy, miscommunication about our orders. Food didnt arrive all at once and when it did it was cold. Wont eat here again.

The head waiter/manager was not relaxed and had no idea of professional customer service. Our food was not hot, I was over charged for my wine and throughout there was no apology.

Friday night at 6sh and had run out of burgers. Both had the fish & chips which was lovely. No lager on offer as according to another guest ran out of gas !!!! Breakfast had lots of choice and very tasty. Watch out for feral kids

I was sent to the bar from the restaurant because of “staff shortage” - with the assurance that the menu is the same. There, service was non-existent - eventually a walk to the counter elicited a disinterested presentation of the menu by a barman in deep conversation with a colleague. Order of wine was ignored - requiring a second visit to the counter. The dish (spicy chicken burger) was tasteless; the accompanying mayonnaise insipid. The fries tasted like cardboard. Once food was delivered to the table not a single appearance by a waiter or bar staff in the 50 minutes until I returned to the bar counter to seek a bill. Third world operation.

While we were booking in at reception at the Edinburgh Marriott we confirmed our 6pm booking in the Cast Iron Grill and Restaurant for a large party. Arrived on time to be met by a female waitress who informed us that the grill didn't open until 7pm that night. Not a good start. We were offered the same menu only to eat in the reception area, which we agreed but it wasn't ideal. Food was good, hot and plenty of it. Went to the same grill for breakfast - wonderful selection and the food was hot on the self service counter. Marks downgraded due to waitress dropping cutlery on carpeted floor whilst setting table and having picked the items up placed them on the table. They weren't taken away to be cleaned or replaced by other clean cutlery. Not my idea of what you expect from this type of establishment.!!!!!

We only ate breakfast here, two days in a row, as we were staying in the hotel. The service varied vastly on both days. The first day the server was rude and did not understand when my husband enquired if they served Porridge. She offered him scrambled eggs instead! This girl was not good at keeping tables clean either, as she just sprayed round items already there, she never actually wiped a whole table down. The second morning we were not looking forward to encountering rudeness first thing in the morning. However, this morning another young lady greeted and seated us. The service couldn't have been more different. The menu is small, due to COVID, but there is sufficient to make a choice, from the three options. Toast isn't an option, if you don't have the full breakfast. You have to pre-book your time for breakfast, for social distancing. However, each morning there were 6 tables being used and they were used as 3 tables next to each other, in two areas. I am unsure why they weren't spaced better in such a large restaurant.

I visited this restaurant while staying at the attached hotel. The menu is small but has a reasonable range of choices so everyone should be able to get something they like. The service is excellent, attentive without being invasive and the turn around of courses is done at a sensible pace. The food itself was perfect, I had a burger one evening and a steak another and both were done how I asked and came with all the sides etc that were ordered with no issues. Would definitely consider this again when travelling in the area.

We ate in this restaurant three times during our short stay at the hotel.As a disabled customer, I found the restaurant layout to be straightforward to navigate and comfortable. The quality of food is exceptional, fresh and delicious, and the service outstanding - under the watchful eye of the restaurant manager Joaquin - who is a credit to the Marriott brand.

Only reason I ate here was that I was staying in the Marriott hotel that this restaurant is part of. Average food that was overpriced. Steak wasn’t rested correctly so it bleed all over the plate. Unacceptable in a Steak restaurant

The menu here is great and they have set price menus for £18 or £21 for 2 and 3 courses.My steak was done to perfection and my wife's cannelloni was the best meal she has enjoyed.Together with great service (Kathy was lovely) we really loved the dinner here.

We like the Cast Iron Grill but we prefer eating their menu in the Brew Bar by the main reception. It's more relaxed there Love the caesar salad and burgers. Craft beers and a great selection of wines available We do like the traditional scottish breakfast in the Grill room in the morning though. The haggis is superb with bacon

Breakfast included was bountiful but blah. 20 minutes wait for a tasteless omelette.... tho my son did like the haggis. Supper was slowly served by a poorly trained serving team and was flavorless. Avoid the place if you can.

Was a pleasant surprise after a long day of walking like a tourist . The chicken served is halal and was great The kids loved the sweet potato fries. The service by Emilla was superb

Comimos en el Brew Bar como preferimos aquí en lugar de en el restaurante. Una cálida bienvenida por parte del personal que nos recordó de nuestra estancia anterior en marzo. Disfrutamos de una botella de vino y cervezas durante nuestras visitas, y pedimos ensaladas césar para nuestra cena, recién preparada y sabrosa. También disfrutamos de los cafés y compartimos la tabla de quesos. Ambiente agradable y relajado, por eso preferimos aquí.

We made reservations for dinner when we checked into the hotel. When we came in we were asked to wait about 15-20 minutes for a table. The place was not that busy and had several open tables that were clean. Service was ok. Food was average. We had fish and chips and steak. The staff seemed tired and unhappy.

Este restaurante está ubicado dentro del hotel Marriot en Edimburgo, muy bien distribuido, una cálida bienvenida y un servicio razonablemente rápido, por un personal amable y muy eficiente. El buen menú y los precios son razonables, la comida es muy sabrosa y las porciones son de buen tamaño. También tomé el desayuno, que es de estilo bufé y el más que he visto distribuido en cualquier lugar. La calidad del buffet era muy buena. Recomendaría.

Right into the Marriott complex, we had a good rare cooked steak. My wife also ordered the blue cheese which was really good. Prices are bit expensive compared to the overall quality. Service was good.

A Saturday night treat, not what we expected

Not had a breakfast here for a while, so nice to be able to after this stay, friendly welcome from Achilles welcoming us back. Asked chef for my normal breakfast preference of poached eggs, arrived cooked to perfection. Mr C enjoyed bacon sausage, egg has hash browns, and we had fruit juice tea and coffee. An enjoyable breakfast. See you all again in March

Having spent the weekend at the hotel we decided to have an evening meal and breakfast here. It was well worth the visit. Both meals were fantastic and really tasty. Breakfast in particular was outstanding! Definitely recommended if in the area.

Staff all very helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice of either continental or cooked breakfast.

I enjoyed an excellent meal in the Cast Iron Grill - part of the Marriott Hotel complex. The meal was well prepared and presented and the wine list was most acceptable. A slightly wider menu choice would be of use. The staff were all very attentive - I couldn't fault the restaurant in any way.

Meals were of good quality and well served; staff were extremely helpful. Sticky toffee pudding was among the best I have tasted.

Have had a few carvery meals here within the hotel after functions and they are always excellent. Pork, chicken, veg, roasties etc. Straightforward so gravy is gravy etc but wholesome and enjoyable in comfortable surrounds served by very attentive staff.

had dinner here while staying at the hotel and the food varied between great and average, the squid and chorizo starter was really nice, as was the chocolate brownie desert. the baby back ribs however were average, the smoky bbq sauce was so strong you could barely taste any other food, and the slaw it was served with tasted like it was from a cheap deli counter.

Located on the main floor of this property, you will find this restaurant. You can have both breakfasts and dinners here. We enjoyed our delicious breakfasts here. Very pleased to see that there was an "omelette" station to order from. Was a huge hit with our family, where your personal choice is cooked up. We had great service at the Cast Iron Grill, and was the perfect way to start our first full day in Edinburgh.

The Cast Iron Grill at the Marriott hotel serves as a breakfast, lunch and dinner place. This place is more format than most Marriott's in the UK as you are seated by staff for every meal.

The food here was very good for a hotel. Service was slow initially, but then picked up. The pizza and ceaser salad were both very good. Cocktails were good. The home made sundaes were also very good.

Ate at this restaurant while staying at the hotel. The staff were nice and welcoming. Placed our drinks order and received them within 5 minutes. Food was delayed slightly but a nice waitress apologized and gave us two drinks of our choosing on the house. Food was presented well and was very tasty the only down side is there isn't much of an atmosphere.

Las costillas estaban muy tiernas y ricas. Las patatas, he probado de mejores, es lo que me hubiera ahorrado para no acabar tan llena. El postre estaba delicioso. Took forever for a waitress to come to the table. Then our omelets were made after our late arriving companions. Then our bill was incorrect... more waiting. Not worth the price.

Very good food, great service and lovely, friendly, helpful staff; food was quite expensive but well worth the price for what you get. Drinks are horrendously expensive though; even soft drinks prices are eye-watering. The main reason for giving this 4/5 is the staff, they cannot be faulted and are the best thing about this hotel.

It is the hotel's restaurant. Considering the quality of the hotel, the terrible experience here will not be surprise for us. Our visit was during Christmas, in the rainy day, my friend and I decided not to go out and try the hotel's restaurant. As hotel guests, we were forbidden to use the restaurant because they want to host, want to make money from some kind of group. We were asked to go to the bar for lunch. Ok, then I found tables of guests were been ignored at the the bar because the staff are busy serving their group of the rich guests. My friend and I as well as tables of other guests had to wait more than half an hour to get to order. The only good thing is the attitude of staffs are good.圣诞节期间来访整个餐厅忙着服务他们的大客户没有人招呼我们这些住店客人，我和我朋友还有还有几多其他客人只能被呆呆地凉在一边，水也没有在那里坐着至少半个小时，才有人过来点菜。而且因为他们的大客户要使用餐厅我们作为住店客人居然连餐厅都进不去。不推荐在这里吃饭，附近有购物商场可以在那里进行午餐和晚餐。唯一的优点是服务员服务态度挺好。

The food was good, the staff is great and enjoyable.I had a rib eye steak cook to perfection (medium - rear) I do recommend if you stay in the hotel.

Stayed at the hotel with friends on our way to St Andrews and were not expecting the restaurant to be anything special but we had lovely food. As a vegetarian I am usually faced with second rate food options which tend to focus on cheese and/or risotto (which is my pet hate) but I had a delicious & imaginative polenta main dish with an equally delicious cauliflower side order. It beat the pants off the posh St Andrews restaurant that I had to endure the following night. Thank you Marriott for recognising that we vegetarians deserve equal culinary treatment to meat & fish eaters.

We had dinner here when we were staying at the hotel overnight. Food very good although quite a limited choice. Also, a wee bit expensive - £13.50 for cod and chips. Everything we ordered though was very good.

Always eat here when staying, ate on two occasions first night with a 6 year old grandchild, a varied child's menu who opted for the burger and chips, We enjoyed a steak and a chicken ceasar salad all delicious The service as always was great, all the staff are very talkative and friendly. Breakfast was the same high standard buffet they have had for years,.the chef who is behind the counter always makes perfect poached eggs for me, also everything is fresh and topped up regularly by staff also the cold buffet is always stocked well and topped up by staff, there is something for everyone, been coming to stay and eat here for years and have never disappointed with the food always great friendly staff

Il s'agit du restaurant de l'hôtel Marriot, donc Resto d'un grand hôtel. Nous logions dans un autre hôtel de la zone, sans restaurant. Belle salle, carte proposant notamment des plats locaux avec lesquels nous nous sommes régalés. Belle carte des vins, la plupart étant servis au verre, ce qui est très pratique et raisonnable. Les choix de restaurants corrects dans le secteur est plus que limité, et c'est très bien que celui-ci existe. Un bon souvenir.

We eat here regular when in edinburgh. The hotel is nice and the source grill is a big relaxing area to eat in. The staff are always a friendly happy bunch who seem to enjoy their work. The food over the years has always been a high standard with the steaks and cesear salad first rate. They have a varied menu that suits most people, but if you ask for something they normally can produce it. The kids menu is really good as well and the staff look after the wee ones well.The breakfast buffet is really good with a large hot plate serving some great scottish breakfasts treats. The cold buffet is equally well stocked.we ate there twice at night and really enjoyed our time their. We will be back for sure.

Locale all'interno di un hotel, ben tenuto ed arredato. Tanto personale e tutti molto gentili. L'hamburger ed il fish&chips che abbiamo preso erano buoni. Unica pecca, ristorante un po' difficile da individuare perché manca di cartelli e segnalazioni lungo la strada (suggerimento: bisogna entrare nel parcheggio dell'Hotel Marriott).

Straightforward menu good variety and good choice for the children. Staff were friendly and helpful and plied the children with sweets. It is not Michelin standard but does not try to be. Good food at a good price.

The Restaurant Manager and staff were outstanding. We were treated wonderfully and our meals were perfect in every way. Couldn't have been happier with the service. Definitely 5 stars!

Kind of expected too much having read favourable reviews. To start, ordered and paid for fever tree tonic, received the wrong one but no one interested in changing it.Ordered restaurant food at the bar - our choice. Bar person asked "all together", hubby assumed he meant "pay for all of it together". We had ordered 2 starters, 2 main courses and 2 drinks. So would have thought it was pretty obvious what our intention was but in the event of doubt, why not just clarify? So, our starters and mains courses came out together............ Only 2 of us on the table. Fine, they took the mains away after telling us that is what we asked for - maybe the foreign accent of the waiter and our distinctly British accent confused the scenario somewhat.Oh and we had to fetch our own cutlery as there was none on the table.So, after consuming a distinctly average £7.50 prawn cocktail and a duck egg that was overcooked and lacking in imagination, we were then served with cold main courses after a right telling off from previously mentioned waiter who was quite argumentative. To be honest we couldn't be bothered to argue so just smiled sweetly with a "whatever" attitude.No check backs on our distinctly average main courses and as we speak, 15 minutes after finishing, our plates are still in front of us. So much time has lapsed in fact that I've had time to post this review and still no offer of fetching us a £16 round of gin and tonics. Obviously sales are not on their list of priorities along with lack of customer service skills. So we'll pop off and buy a nice drink elsewhere.Awful, rude and unfriendly service, totally average food - would steer clear if I were you!

We ate in the restaurant 2 nights and both nights the main offering was lamb which was just fat. Not very nice at all. We also ate one lunchtime which was not so bad. Breakfast was the usual buffet with the same choices.

I stayed at the Marriott on Business, and I had an excellent experience at this in-house restaurant.Occasionally restaurants in hotels can get complacent, but I thought this was awesome. I had the fish and chips and the single filet overflowed the basket!! Definitely recommend, and you can thank me later. Enjoy!

Era un sábado por la tarde, el centro de la ciudad a tope, temíamos que no nos dieran de cenar en ningún lado, y cerca de nuestro hotel estaba el Marriot. Fue todo un acierto, los platos correctos y deliciosos. Nos atendió una camarera que hablaba español, muy muy amable. Los precios muy bien

Manos was fantastic helping us with choices. He had great knowledge of the dishes and wine. Jocelyn and Manos served us throughout our meal, were very professional and we thoroughly enjoyed the food. Thank you :-)

Our waiter looked after our every need , told us about different foods we had never experienced before. It was a very pleasant atmosphere and great dinning experiance!

Chose this restaurant for our anniversary meal instead of going to somewhere in the city centre. So pleased that we decided to do just that because from the minute we were welcome to the bill payment, the customer service was excellent. Obviously the training is passed down from the American side of business. The food presentation was very classy. I had the chicken liver pate served in a small glass jar for starters and the battered fish haddock with chips. Both are really good, tasty and plentiful but not ridiculously massive. My husband had the pan fried roast lamb which he devoured in minutes. He said it was perfect.We shared the sticky toffee pudding which was just enough. They even gave us two separate tubs of vanilla ice cream instead of the normal one for a single order. Our refreshing white wine is just gorgeous. One tiny negative is the heater from the ceiling was blowing warm air directly to me then suddenly changed to cold blast of air for about 10 mins. But after a while it was fine again, maybe just an old system? Overall I don't mind celebrating another special occasion at this restaurant again.

They have a great breakfast buffet including local delicacies such as haggis and black pudding. Their daily changing lunch buffet was also very attractive.

We chose to stay and park the night before an early holiday flight and so glad we did. The dinner was delicious, but what made the experience was the wait staff. They were a joy to watch. Certainly a good recommendation to repeat the experience.

When staying at the Marriot hotel , we decided that for the first night we would dine at the hotel . From past experience , this sometimes works and sometimes does not . However ,the dining experience was excellent as was the food . The waiters were very chatty and helpful which made the experience a good one . Plenty of choices for all tastes and a good selection of wines.

Caesar salad was fine, but the braised short ribs were fantastic. Tender and succulent, with a rich, savory gravy. Crème brulee was also a winner. Too bad it's our last night in Scotland.

We visited with our 8 year old granddaughter Macie for two nights and dined in The Source Restaurant on Saturday. The waiters Ali, Achilles and another gentleman from Greece provided excellent service and made a great fuss over our granddaughter. Seeing that Macie collected key rings, Ali was kind enough to give her one of his own personal key rings from Tunisia, which was above and beyond and greatly appreciated. The food (including the burger served to Macie) was wonderful and beautifully presented. Well worth a visit for the food and the service.

Food was fine. Achilles, our server, was very nice. My carrot and coriander soup tasted nothing like either. It was distinctly celery flavored. It was warm and tasted ok....just not what it was billed as. Chicken Caesar salad was fine. Hubby had mushroom starter. Tasted good, but didn't care for the nice bread being on the bottom and all soggy. His ribs were fine. Fries/chips would have been better than the steak potatoes. They were so big - just not that tasty.

We always eat here when staying at the Marriott before flying off on holiday. The food and service in the Restaurant is always 1st class. We were served by really luvly servers, two who came from Greece were extremely attentive, and friendly, we had great chats with them when attending to our table, they all gave a great service to us. Our meals were of the normal high standards that you get from here. Our favourite is the chicken/beef ceasar salad. Would recommend anyone to eat here if they are staying.

We always stay in the hotel before flying out on holiday. The food and service at the Source grill is always 1st class. The 2 waiters who came from Greace were extremely attentive, great conversationalists but above all gave a great service. Had our daughter wedding at this hotel and stayed for a week. The food and services overall at this hotel is fabulous. Staff all over the hotel And restaurant could not do enough for you. This evening was the second occasion on which I have dined at the Source Grill in the Marriott hotel in Edinburgh. On both occasions, I found the staff - who incidentally are drawn from a diverse range of home countries with a slight inclination towards the Mediterranian region - to be very attentive and helpful. This evening I partook of three courses: the prawn cocktail - complete with King Prawn and dressing of an ideal consistency, and the Grill of the Day, which happened to be a steak from the leg of the lamb, which was succulent, juicy and tender, served just as I had ordered: medium rare and accompanied by chips and salad. I finished the meal with the cheese plate (c.f. platter) which consisted of three types of British cheese, served with a variety of savoury biscuits and a fruit chutney. There was a variety of wines available, and I found the Australian Shiraz to be most flavoursome.While enjoying my main course, there was a continual train of waiting staff enquiring whether I required any "sauces" with my meal; or should that have been any "Sources" with my meal?I commend the Source Grill to any guest at the Marriott Hotel in Edinburgh who enjoys sumptuous food and excellent service.

Food was lovely, not cheap but you get what you pay for. The chicken was lovely and the salmon and steak was nice. My son also had the burgers which were huge.

Typically (no matter what the chain) the restaurant within a hotel isn't the best spot to eat, but here they offered decent, quite tasty meals. Ala carte ordering or prix fixe for two or three courses. Very pleased with the waiter's recommendation of the braised short ribs.
