We've just had a wonderful few days at Inglewood Manor. Although we visited Chester and other interesting places, the hotel was the highlight of our break. The hotel is full of character and history. Our bedroom had a nice view and the bed was very comfortable. Facilities were excellent overall. We dined in the restaurant on one night and it was top class. The food and service were amazing. The service throughout the hotel was excellent, all staff members were friendly, pleasant and professional. I read reviews before booking this and amongst the reviews there was mention of the decor being a bit "tired". I'd have to agree with that in part. Certainly in our room the carpet was crumpled in the middle of the floor. Apart from that, it's a very old building and deserves to look tired!! I would recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for the night after my brothers wedding meal we booked bed and breakfast the room was ok but in the morning when we went down for breakfast there was hardly anything on the continental breakfast table we waited half an hour for our coffees and an hour for our cooked breakfast mine was fine (Avocado on toast) but my husband had ordered full English was very dry and the black pudding was like a piece of rubber he sent it back but we had no apologies and they didn’t bring a fresh black pudding all in all the breakfast experience was shocking

My partner booked a three night stay for my 60th birthday, the hotel is beautiful and all the staff are lovely but I want to name one member of the restraunt team in particular and her name is Carol. Carol went above and beyond to make my birthday extra special and I really appreciated her thoughtfulness, she is a credit to the hotel. The hotel is in a perfect place for chester, cheshire oaks and chester zoo

Having just come back from a 2 night stay at Inglewood manor. On arrival we spoke to Pete on reception who upgraded us to room 1 which is a beautiful room with views of the beautiful gardens and woodland surrounding the hotel. What a lovely place to stay and I must say thank you to their staff who were all extremely friendly and attentive. Thanks again for a lovely stay. Paul & Anne from Derbyshire.

Very disappointing. Poor quality food. Basic fillings in sandwiches, staff didn't know what the fillings were and had to get a menu. Lemon drizzle cake stale. Pannacotta not fresh with a skin on the top, could have been days old. No meringues as listed on menu. No tea and coffee served until we asked. Shortage of staff and staff not in the least bit interested if the customers were happy with food . Young inexperienced staff who hadn't been trained...... to carry drinks , serve food etc etc. Not their fault as they were very pleasant. And to cap it all some of us had upset stomachs later that day. A place to be be avoided at all costs and a visit by public health wouldn't go amiss

Arrived on a Friday night for 1 night stay. Was immediately impressed by the exterior as its very beautiful. There was a slight mix up on check in that even though the room was booked and paid for it hadn't been put on to the system. Luckily the receptionist managed to sort it as there was only 1 room left due to a wedding the next day. We loved our room! Big cozy bed and everything you need except for a teaspoon. Plenty of space and a good seating area as well as a desk. Luxury toiletries and plenty of towels provided. Lots of hot water. We had a great view looking out over the front. We went off for a couple of hours shopping at Cheshire oaks so have to say that it was really nice to stay somewhere so quiet and beautiful in its own grounds that was also so close to so many attractions. Breakfast was good although for us we found it a bit of a rush with having to check out by 10.30. I would of liked to have had a walk around the grounds but given the check out time we didn't get around to it. All the staff were lovely and its very grand inside. My only negatives would be the pillows could do with upgrading. I was so tired after driving for 6 hours I did manage to sleep but my other half was awake most of the night because of how flat and hard the pillows were. I'm sure though this would of been addressed if we had gone and asked but no one wants to be wondering around in the middle of the night. We would definitely stay here again but bring our own pillows.. And teaspoon!

Made a room booking for a wedding for one night. £100. Wedding at 2pm. Arrived after a very long journey at 12pm. We were told the room wasn't ready until 3pm. Had I checked the confirmation email? The reception was filled with wedding couples family and other wedding guests who were also waiting to get into their rooms! Why sell this wedding package to people for one day when they can't use their rooms? No apologies from staff who actually suggested we use the toliets to change or ask another guest to use their room to change! Our room eventually became free at 1.30pm which was useless. Unbelievable and unnecessary stress and drama for all at the beginning of a very special day for the wedding couple. The current management have a terrible attitude. I feel sorry for the young staff who have to work under them. It's a real shame because the building and grounds are grand. But as always it's always about the people. This hotel never answers the phone. The overriding takeaway is a feeling of provincial incompetence and penny pinching. Please avoid.

We had made a last minute booking to try and get away to raise the mood of someone struggling with their mental health. Their health declined and we were unable to go. Dinner was very good indeed and staff friendly our room (1) was very spacious and airy and nicely decorated . We had a wonderful afternoon tea with a glass of fizz. The sandwiches were lovely, cake selection was good and the scones were a good size, well baked and light served with clotted cream and Tiptree jam. Service was attentive and friendly, really the staff were all so nice and approachable. The grounds of the hotel are well worth a stroll around, although in parts in need of attention especially tennis courts. Unfortunately, the only thing to complain about were the toilets - smelly, dripping taps and not 4 star! What a shame because everything else was just perfect.

Billed as a boutique hotel with 29 rooms in a country setting. It is all of this but sadly not the peaceful break away we had wished for. Room 19 – if you get assigned this room in any of the warmer months, ask to change unless you want the constant drone of the kitchen extractor fan until 11pm and starting back up at 6am to help you sleep. The hotel is beautiful but sadly its dirty, our room had a number of dirty marks on the inside of the bathroom door, cracked floor tiles and mould on the bath edges. The room was dusty (which I have now seen is a common complaint about this hotel) and considering they are still implementing covid measures is more than a little disturbing. We did mention to the lady on reception when she asked if we had had a nice stay but she did not even ask the room number so I guess she gets these sorts of comments regularly. There was a fire alarm in the early hours of the morning that did shut off quite quickly and all the response from reception was ‘It was a false alarm’ – no real apology. The finishing touch to our stay was a warm cooked breakfast, in a dusty restaurant with smeary windows on tired and torn chairs. We actually decided to cut our visit to Chester short as so tired

Stunning Tudor manor in a stunning location. Proper menu as well.Better alternative to the dated chain hotels in the area. Great staff, lovely rooms - probably more atmosphere in the nicer months of the year (not many staying in Jan)For it to be a good attraction for business visitors though, it really needs to boost WiFi as phone signal is not great and strong WiFi is a prerequisite these days for any hotel. £20 at Argos can get a WiFi booster - this place could be sorted for WiFi for not much more I’d imagine. So - 4/5 but unfortunately not much chance of me staying again unless they boost the WiFi as there is little phone signal and little WiFi in the rooms.I can exist on 4G or WiFi but not without both - (business traveller)...

Well where do I start. A party of seven of us pre booked an evening tribute night. Cost £39. Each. Let’s say fawlty towers spring to mind. I think approx 100 guests there. Nicely decorated room. Starters eventually arrive but three not the ones ordered.. such a faff getting it sorted as they had run out of the requested and pre ordered meals. Mains arrive must be around 9.45 by now. Still not the requested dietary requirements, as pre ordered. Our organiser spoke to the duty manager, who tried to brush off complaints, but after a while took it seriously and will speak to events coordinator next week. He did supply free wine. By now several other tables are complaining about the service and food. Desserts arrive but by now no one was interested in them as feelings of disappointment were strong. For a well established hotel things have gone wildly astray at this function.

Unusually, I had a vegetarian main - the comté, red onion and potato pie, with wild mushrooms. Very tasty pie, if anything the mushrooms were a bit salty for me but that's a matter of taste, then a pineapple suet pudding with basil sorbet (how did they manage to cram so much basil in a small sorbet?). I called ahead a couple of days before to make sure we had a nice room and not the view of the bins. The lady I spoke to happily said she would put us in the second floor. I wish now I hadn’t asked for that as it gave us a loft room and the climb up there was bad. This is a beautiful building in beautiful surroundings, and the staff were very courteous and helpful. we had pre ordered our menu as requested for Boxing Day. We were a little surprised with our starter, three small breaded balls, squiggle of dressing and two tiny salad leaves. Looked awfully odd on the plate, it was only when I returned home and read our menu choice, that I realised the poached pears were missing !! Although the beef lunch was tasty, it could have done with being hotter. After our dessert, I queried the coffee and mince pies. The server at this point told me he didn't think there were any mince pies. However they did arrive, the mini type, one each. I can't say that we would choose to dine here again, especially at such a special time of year. It really didn't feel very well organised as far as the meal was concerned.

Our room was at the top of the hotel and was only accessed by stairs so elderly guests or anyone with walking difficulties would have a problem. Our room was quite pleasant but because of the age of the hotel, the windows in particular looked tired! The room was a good size, and included all amenities ranging from tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer, iron, room safe etc. Staff were very helpful, and a plentiful English breakfast is served. Probably best to hire a car when staying there as a little cut off otherwise.

We enjoyed our first visit two years ago so had no difficulty in booking yet again where we enjoyed friendly service at breakfast and dinners. Rooms are excellent - no two alike. After a hard day's sightseeing in Liverpool our room provided the perfect haven of comfort. All very clean and comfortable. Will visit again.

We waited a full hour for breakfast. When I complained (nicely and discreetly after 45 minutes) I was told it was because they were busy. They weren't that busy. There were 5 waiting on staff who couldn't organise the proverbial in a brewery! They took orders and served 3 other tables before us. There was lipstick on the glass, no natural yogurt or fresh fruit other than chopped apple. It wasn't worth waiting for. The rooms are nothing special and not like the photos on the website. The TV didn't work either. We will not return!

£25 for three courses or £19 for two - excellent value. Portions were sized very well, meaning there was room for all three courses! The food was cooked to perfection and when we wanted cheese and biscuits as well as dessert it was no problem.

I stayed here overnight on business the room was comfortable and well furnished and the staff excellent and very attentive. The Wi-Fi was of an adequate speed and easy to connect. I spent the evening working and therefore ordered room service. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the food was very good. Will look forward to returning the next time I am in region on business.

Following on from my review earlier in the year "Look elsewhere........") and our awful experience here for Christmas luncheon 2015. I do hope, for the sake of the unsuspecting paying guests that have already booked, that you get your act together this year. I have attached a picture of what was served to us as a "lavish luncheon" at 90 odd pounds per head. Mr. Humphreys (General Manager who was nowhere to be seen and the banqueting Manager who had resigned the day before) wanted horse whipping........ I think that the place is full of students and stand in staff over Christmas. A professional chef would not have presented a plate of food like what we were given. If you have already booked and are staying overnight, as our party of 60 did, get up early. Waiting on staff for breakfast were few and the food dishes were not refilled. Requests for toast and coffee was a mission and the few staff they had started clearing away at 09h50 so most of us went hungry........ again

I stayed over as a guest of Carlsberg. I was greeted with a smile at reception. The room I had was stunning & very comfortable. I ate what can only be described as 1st class!! The sea bass was the best I've ever had. I shall definitely be recommending the hotel to friends!!

we were invited to my partners grandparents 65th wedding anniversary lunch at this hotel along with 30 other family and close friends. The hotel is breathtaking and the staff very polite and helpful, however the food was abysmal, I had ordered the prawn cocktail and my partner the supposedly homemade tomato and basil soup. When my starter arrived i honestly thought it was a taster as it consisted of 3 shrimps and a soup spoon of sauce, not a lettuce leaf or tomato in site. this was accompanied with half a round of buttered bread, my partners soup was no more than a ladle of what can only be described as tinned tomato juice. Main course wasn't much better, a minted lamb shank sitting on a spoonful of mashed potato and a bowl full of very undercooked frozen veg.. dessert was nice although i could have done with more biscuits with the cheese, overall a very disappointing meal at a very costly price...

A birthday treat at this lovely hotel set in 38 acres of beautifully kept gardens! Staff were friendly and helpful and it was quiet and relaxing. The dinner and breakfast was of a high standard with attention to detail. Our room overlooked the gardens and was comfortable and of a good size with en suite bathroom, all very attractive. We will certainly visit again!

Eleven of us had a great weekend in Inglewood Manor and what made it so good were the staff; Tamara, David, Connor, Wendy and Hayden the Manager. As you can see from my Tripadvisor comments I've travelled around the world, likewise so had the friends we were with and none of us had met hotel staff like the ones mentioned, friendly, attentive, so helpful in every way. If only all hotels had staff like the ones mentioned it would be fantastic. The hotel is a grade 2 listed building, so don't expect all the modern day features of most of the hotel you're likely to stay in. Set in beautiful ground away from the hassle and noise of city life. The decor hasn't changed much from the original style, plenty of wooden stairs and wood panels. Decorative ceiling in the style of the period when it was built. There are plenty of stairs and corridors. There isn't a lift so it's not an ideal location for any disabled person or someone who cannot manage stairs. The lounge area is comfortable and the bar is adjacent to the dinning room. The bedrooms are comfortable with a selection of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, spring water and biscuits. The bed was comfortable but there was a slight ridge in the middle as it was two single beds pushed together. There was a small flat screen TV, two comfortable chairs, iron, hair dryer in the room. The bathroom was very clean, towels soft, a large bath with a good shower. The hair shampoo and soap were in one container which the ladies felt lacked conditioner and there wasn't any body lotion. The bedroom door was opened with an old style key. The restaurant was comfortable and had a good atmosphere. In general the food was good but some dishes weren't great; the lamb was tuff. There was a good selection of wines. The breakfast was good either full English or a various selection of other things on the menu. The hotel was well kept and very clean. There was free WiFi. Would recommend this hotel and ask about the weekend deals.

Friday night meal with my wife which was a bit of a trip down memory lane as my Grandparents used to live in the grounds of the Manor House. The setting is fantastic, staff very helpful and the food was lovely. Not cheap but not expensive and the quality of the meal meant that it felt extremely good value.

We had Christmas Eve lunch here and the food and service were lovely. The prices are just about right - for the time of year not many places will do better. We had the traditional turkey dinner as we don't eat this ourselves on Christmas Day. The only gripe my wife had was the veg was a little undercooked for her taste - more raw than al dente but this is the trend these days.

Met up with a colleague here for a quick dinner on a weeknight. Restaurant was very quiet and the waitress was very attentive. I ordered the black pudding scotch egg and the pork belly. Highlight for a big eater like me was the portion size! Coffee afterwards served in the lounge. Nice hotel in a nice countryside setting.

This is a fine place in the countryside not far from Ellesmere Port or Chester. The festive afternoon tea on 31/12 was very good although at almost £20 not to be considered cheap. The doggy bag that was brought home did not have much in it and the diners were all feeling very full. There could have been more of a offering for vegetarians.

So other members of the family had been here for dinner. They always raved about it,so i was expecting something special. What a dissapointment that was.Although no one else was in the resturant we were taken to the table 10 minutes late.Prawn cocktail was served in a glass, but cutlery was a large knife and fork. The Soup was very, hot, like from a microwave had heated it up.It was also spilled/splashed around the bowl, messy. Main courses. The lamb hotpot was delicious, just very small portions. Turkey dinner ordered came with the gravy already poured over the dinner instead of in a small gravy boat. (dont like gravy on my meal)The sweets were all very nice as was the coffee with mince pies. But the mince pies were only very tiny, size of 50p.The bar tender was also the waiter,so as time went on it got busy and the waiting time for someone to serve became longer. The meal for 4 was booked the week previous and we were asked to pay the full price of the meals over the phone. Price per person, £22.50 4 course lunch at 12.30The laundry bags were in the hallway near the toilets, not very tidy.So would i go again? NO.

I arrived to hotel late and the restaurant was fully booked, so had to order food in the bar. The started which was a salad was good but then the fish and chips were horrendous. I sent it back because the fish had ammonia smell and they didn't even come back for an apology or an explanation, if there was any

Birthday treat for afternoon tea. Put us in a room on our own so I asked to be moved to sit with everyone else dining...which they did. Sandwiches brought out on saucer sized plate then another plate with cakes and scones. I asked why not served on 3 tier cake stand as she gave some poor excuse as to cakes might melt so they don't use them hower other diners had them! They forgot to bring the strawberries and cream and champagne we ordered. Waitress was moody and unhelpful and we had to go into bar for a cocktail as they were now shutting!! Huge amount of money for poor food and service. Never been back!

The Woodland is close to Ellemere Port Hospital and serves for much of the day. Usual "Stonehouse" fayre. Very pleasant member of staff who checked for allergies and carried our drinks to our table as I am dodgy on my feet. We took advantage of the offer of two meals for £11.75 from a reduced menu. Pleasant food, but nothing special, except the price.

We went here for food as the brewers fayre is closed for refurbishments at the premier inn we were staying at. The food was terrible, if it wasn't for us being starving after a full day at Chester zoo we wouldn't have eaten it. Wasn't expecting top of the notch food for the price but was definitely expecting much better than what was served. Everything looks to have come out the same deep fat fryer which seemed could do with a oil change, one of my children's starters was veg sticks which were so dry and looked like they'd been prepped the week before, the others a "garlic bread starter" was two slices off a cheap garlic baguette. The staff were lovely and the place was clean so probably a great place for a drink, just wouldn't return again food.
