Excellent food brilliant service very reasonably priced a place you must try !!

Went for meal friday before mothers day after returning home my daughter was extremely ill all night visited gp at out of hours & doctor on Sunday.. and again 5days later as still unwell . A week off work sick . Lost pay .We all had different meals and none off us ill . I rang to inform them to be told sorry no other complaints . Pursuing as poss food poisoning .we have eaten here twice in past no issues .Halloumi curry !!

5 for a Saturday lunch,a very friendly welcome and great service. The food all arrived together and was hot and very tasty. Will definitely be going back again, a superb meal service

Brilliant location good food and nice seating area outside

Spent 2 weeks on the towpath here, had several meals and can honestly say that everything coming out of that kitchen is gert lush. The homemade jumbo chips are to die for.

9 of us went for my birthday yesterday.food was amazing and piping hot.service great.would highly recommend.

Traditional warm friendly busy pub with generous delicious traditional food

Beautiful pub! Atmosphere...feels very local and you might get some funny looks if you're not from the area. Felt quite judgmental and the drinks are overpriced. Apart from that I feel it would be great on a warm day to watch the canal on the front seating area.

The pub catered for a group of 21. The food was really good, no one had any complaints. The portions are huge. I had the chicken fajitas and there was enough for two people.

Fantastic home made chips - massive like a roast potato

Didn't book , but staff went out of their way to found us a table. I hope they don't lose the chef / cook food was hot and superb.

Had fish and chips, batter was soggy and the whole meal was tasteless. Very disappointing.

Had a few meals here and the food is fantastic NOT your quick in the microwave stuff that so many pubs pass off as cooking! Had a few different choices and never had a bad meal. The service is excellent. Can’t recommend highly enough! Going again this week!

We use to call this pub the lifeguards pup as all my colleagues from Northwich old pool use to meet up and drink here after work in the 80’s I still remember the great time we had here and the food and atmosphere has only got better, I hope it remains for many years to come 💖👍

A small family group recently went here for some lunch after a full day of activities. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and seated promptly. They took our order and brought out drinks quickly. After deciding on our food we placed another order and waited a short time for the food to arrive. We had a mixture of Sunday roasts and burgers. The food was hot, well portioned, fairly priced, and cooked to a good standard. The only item we felt was a bit of a letdown were the burgers that were quite dry. But, based on the rest of the food at our table I think that can be chalked up to a one-off and give them the benefit of the doubt as everything else was delicious.

It was my first time at this pub and I can't speak highly enough. There were 4 of us who went on a Sunday afternoon with no reservation but the team managed to find room for us. We had 3 lamb shanks and 1 roast beef and the food was excellent brilliant portions cooked superbly. We'd all ordered been served and eaten in 45 minutes which is excellent for a busy Sunday with lots of people watching the football. I had a apple and blackberry crumble for desert which was outstanding. The only thing I'd say is I'd like more custard with it only because I love custard and would drink a bathtub given a chance. Overall 11/10 can't recommend highly enough

Nice pub, welcoming and friendly staff. Quick service and was able to get a table at short notice for a Sunday roast and the food was incredible. So so tasty!

Went for Sunday tea, really delicious home cooked food, took 45 mins almost but if it’s being cooked from fresh I suppose I don’t mind.

Great food and lovely helpful staff

Food was good - huge portions - and reasonably priced compared to other pubs. We visited whilst on a canal holiday - the pub is situated by the canal. Thursday night is Quiz night, so we joined in!

Breakfast cooked just right, excellent quality served promptly, The pub is situated next to the canal and has a large outside sitting area.

I don't know about the food but the ales are very well kept if on the expensive side,the pub itself is in a very nice location by the canal and seems popular with boating people.If the bar girls were more cheerful instead of unsmiling automatons I would have given another star.

Food is absolutely amazing big portions too a great choice of menu well worth a visit or two

Seemed a nice enough place, but when we called in one evening for a drink, we discovered children aren't even allowed to sit outside after 7pm (I knew they weren't allowed in the bar, as I'd read that already). There were no other customers at all (9pm after a busy bank holiday) but we had to drink up quick and get away. I know places have good and bad days, but I personally will steer clear in future, as we were polite, friendly and happy, but were made to feel very unwanted.

Nice place next to canal with narrow boats. Handy to go for a walk before or after a meal. Smashing food and very filling. Friendly efficient service

Went for a meal there was eight in our party we all enjoyed our food cooked nice and plenty of it nice surroundings right by the canal plenty out door seating worth a visit

A busy pub, with lots of boating people visiting, and it was quiz night! Very enjoyable. The swans and ducks outside were lovely too!

Had sunday lunch here last week, it was not nice, it was over loaded with that much salt it physically made me sick. We have eaten here before in the week and food was excellent so we were disappointed when it wasnt nice. It was that bad even my partner never ate it which says alot. The Yorkshire pudding tasted like eating pure salt. We wont be going here again for a sunday lunch.

By far the best Dinner Roast Beef...I have had. Absolutely delicious. Took some home as I couldn't eat it all. Had it for lunch the next day. 😋 Loved the ambience and the canal outside with narrow boats...loved it!

Visited the pub today . Staff were great food looked amazing good and could tell it was home made .. the girlfriend had chicken which was perfect and I had a cheese burger that was as dry as Gandhis flip flop …I left 80% of the meal .. explained to the waitress in a positive manner , thinking they may send someone to apologise or offer some form of refund … but nothing … seems a shame to loss a customer over what would cost around £3 to replace the meal .. yes …we are in a habit of saying things are fine👍 when there clearly not! . I was a chef for 8 years … I know what a stale bun , toasted comes out like

Nice pub. Great food, but a bit pricey. Not a great choice for beer, but staff very friendly. Menu has reduced recently.

We had a lovely few hours having a lazy lunch here with friendly service. Good selection of beers and local ales ontap. Food was great. Kids meals were huge! Definitely go for the homecut toasty potatoes, they were lovely. The bar staff even let us charge our phones. Close to the canal with mooring rings.

Great pub grub. Order the homemade chips as they're incredible, just make sure you have a solid appetite as the portions are generous. Good veggie and vegan options also

Absolutely great little country pub at the side of the canal, excellent food and service with a smile too! The fajitas were divine and some of the best I've ever had. My mate had a burger which was apparently "one of the best burgers he's had" (sorry no picture) but the onion rings were whole onion in a seasoned batter too. You cam tell they're home made!

The service was top notch, our food came so quickly and was delicious. The waiters were really attentive. We had the lamb and it was YUM. Really good value for money in my opinion

The first bad review I have ever given, but the food was that bad. Last Sunday three for lunch. Visited to bring back memories for my husband. The food was almost inedible but the staff were lovely.

Kitchen closes 8pm (allegedly) but nothing on the website. BEWARE: Actually turned away diners before 7:30pm. Tables free but chef was having none of it, so service review very low. Drink prices considerably higher than The Lamb Wharf (to which I have no affiliation) by nearly 50%!! Can’t review food but score based on attitude and terse rejection. One woman had been diverted from M56 closure after flight from abroad & driving to north Wales. She was at her wits end.

A little gem hidden by the canal. Staff are very friendly. Now for the food, the portions are a really good size. I had the chicken burger with hand cut chips. It was delicious, home made coleslaw and a lovely salad. The hand cut chips I've never seen the like of but boy they were good, and the onion rings were whoppers! Would definitely recommend for some food if you're in the area.

Lovely staff and a warm welcome in this retro-modern, canal side gastropub. Sadly only one real ale on during our visit, but there’s a good range of other beverages. Food was quite good but the portions are rather too large and carb loaded with spuds, Yorkshire puds etc. Nice ambience, sport tv (muted), and a pleasant hostelry to while away a Sunday afternoon if you’re passing by road or narrowboat.

My friend and I had lunch here today and it was excellent. Such a good variety of choices and very reasonably priced. We dine out at least once a week (ladies who lunch) and will certainly be back.

Update 28.03.2023 Called in for a drink at lunch time. Nice hand pulled pint. Menu still has good range of choices. Good pub. Visited here few times now. Nice food and served hot. Staff are friendly and polite. Enjoyed meal here. Nice restaurant area with space. Bar area was very busy. Wide range of choices on menu. Will visit again.

Absolutely incredible food! The Sunday roasts are a regular favourite for me and my family. Huge portions! Fresh hearty home cooked food. Staff are all extremely friendly and nothing is too much for them. A great atmosphere and such a lovely location by the canal so great views too! Highly recommend!

Great food and excellent staff. Good menu with a range of good pub grub. Quite a good price considering it’s not a cheapo chain pub. Staff are friendly and very efficient. Cutlery and sauce was down on the table before I’d even got back, the food followed not even 15mins later.

FOOD POISONING. Sadly me and my friend are both extremely sick today after eating at the pub. We have been in a few times with no issues but now will not be going back or recommending people to eat here. This happening over Xmas is not acceptable, we are not just missing work today but also from seeing family this time of year.

Stayed on a nb for two days near the pub, the Sunday lunch was lovely, the beef cut was remarkably nice. One star removed for veg a bit too hard. Apart from nice roasties and Yorkshire pudding. Good service from staff as well. Excellent, thank you, makes a change from ping food in most pubs these days. Recommended.
