What a beautiful hotel, that’s got a hidden gem around every corner. It’s opposite Chester train station and within a short walk to the city centre. All the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and the interior design is high end and well thought out and planned. Throughout the hotel are museum pieces with information and the garden within the grounds is beautiful and quirky. The bar is very big and the chairs and decor is stylish and comfortable and getting served is easy. The only issue with our room, was the tv was mounted on a bracket, that didn’t rotate towards the bed, so you had to watch it side on, which was a bit odd. Such a great find in Chester and we’ll definitely be coming back.

Had 2 nice nights here. Roma’s are small as expected but very comfortable. Location was great. Parking was fine but not connected to the hotel so a bit inconvenient but worked fine. Food was good and the rooms were generally quiet.

An overnight stop. The hotel has just completed some refurbishment, and they've done a good job. The downstairs public rooms are lovely and comfortable. The bedroom was clean, and the bed was very comfy. Highly recommended.

Lovely hotel, very clean and modern while still keeping it's heritage in the building. Only problem we had was that we had ordered a bottle of prosecco for our room and took about 6 hrs to get it after asking for it 3 times. To be fair the IT systems were down for a bit so that may have been the problem. Overall an excellent stay and will be returning.

Anniversary stay. Brilliant hotel stay. Lovely service, amazingly comfortable bed, close to the city centre. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and will be revisiting for Chester marathon at the end of the year. Eddie was excellent at the front desk. Thank you!

Brilliant hotel. We stayed in a family room which was huge and the beds were the comfiest I've ever slept on. When we got there the toilet seat was being repaired but hadn't been finished. They apologised and we went out whilst thet fixed it. No problem at all but they offered us four drinks token as an apology. I requested a late check out for an hr and was given it complimentary and after an amazing breakfast at check out we were once again told how sorry they were and gave us some money back on the room. None of which I asked for or expected but what wonderful customer service. Would definitely be back. Even without all of that it's a huge beautiful hotel with great rooms service and breakfast 🌟

The food was very good. The room was not. No luggage rack. The bathroom had a musty smell to it. Was not informed about the renovation. There is no chain on the door for extra security. No safe in room. Since I am from another country, I could not put my passport in a secure place. Had to keep it with me, which wasn't necessary in the UK.

Got married on 25-4-24 at Chester zoo. Stayed at the Queen's night of wedding, service from staff was poor, apart from the staff in the day time who were lovely and couldn't do enough for us, even held our daughter for us while we ate breakfast, she was lovely. The general manager was meant to greet us and he didn't show his face, the communication was poor leading up to the wedding. My partner stayed night before and her breakfast was their for over 24 hours on the landing. When we booked the queen's not once were we informed about the renovations going to happen until January just gone, as we wanted the old style side which is what we booked and we got the modern which was nice but no need to get rid of old style from a historic building. Will never step foot here again. Oh before I forget the drinks were very much over priced. Not a great place, lost all values of what it used to be. Very sad 😢, day staff don't require much improvements but night staff need to improve there faces and smile. Drinks need to come down in price, buffet food was beautiful ❤️

Quaint The Queen At Chester Hotel is full of character and charming, despite being a tad dated. Room was spacious on the 6th Floor with 2 windows (of which 1 can be opened for some fresh air). Corner room is spacious with comfortable bed and pillows. We have a bathtub. Good selection and spread of hot and cold dishes for their Breakfast buffet. Lovely grounds, especially when we were blessed with lovely sunny weather. A 10 minute walk to the left of the hotel brings you to many restaurants, pubs and cafes. There is also a Waitross supermarket down by the canal. Helen

Currently being refurbished. I bet they don't fix the machinery that drives noise into the fabric of the building (and into your head on the pillow) from the very early morning.

This is an ok hotel. Functional, right next to the train station, and comfortable enough. But it’s a bit of a rabbit warren, in need of a freshen up, and just tired around the edges. Parking is £12 per day and limited.

Room was OK but a bit tatty with scratches over the furniture. Bathroom was very good. Black out curtains. We were allowed to check in an hour before schedule which was much appreciated. Car park £12 for 24 hours. Next to train station and saw the hop on bus go past the hotel if you plan sight seeing.

A truly welcoming and comfortable place to stay in, if you need a place to feel at home in, this is the place for you, the staff are the most helpful people I've come across, the room was the most comfortable room, with really good decor and a bed that we didn't want to get out of, the bathroom was well thought out, and quite beautiful, you don't have to go out to eat as the food is absolutely delicious, and reasonable priced, very well served and presented by the friendly restaurant staff, we needed a bit of a break away from home as I'm just getting over head, neck and throat cancer, this hotel was the prescription my doctor couldn't give me, it was a short stay, but I came away feeling better than I've felt for a good while, so thank you so much for a lovely stay xxx Dave n Kathy Naden.

Hotel is being refurbished at the moment but we weren't disturbed. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel is right by Chester railway station which is a 10 minute walk into the town centre. The breakfast is a buffet with plenty of choice.

Over all the room was fine and the service nice. I received two stained towels that was hung on really dusty towel rails. This took 2 nights and 2 complaints to fix. But we were compensated with drink vouchers. The walls are paper thin and our room was located right by a door which made a loud noise everytime it was closed. We were really disappointed at arrival when we discovered that the hotel was under major reconstruction. The entrance (which by the looks of tiktok-videos looked amazing) was the thing that really made us decide on this hotel. Location is great since it is right by Chester station and close to a lot of restaurants and shops. Rooms look cool with a theme of kings from different countries on each floor. No outlets for charging your phone close to the bed. Oh and also the lift broke twice during the 4 nights we stayed there. A plus is the cool outdoor area by the restaurant which has a lot of statues.

Arrived to find it took 10 minutes to find make shift entrance round the back of building.. Then told renovation taking place, did I not receive email that morning when it was clear it had been going on for some time. email arrived late afternoon. Certainly not four star hotel. The bed had lumpy mattress and pillows. I had spoken to other people staying there and we're all of same opinion. Very dowdy place not appealing at all. Not like last visit 7 years previous. Would have cancelled if given notice of renovation work.

Unfortunately, it was under remodeling work haha. It feels a lot like a Korean motel, but it will get better after the remodeling, right? The elevator didn't reach our room, so it was inconvenient to have to carry heavy luggage up the stairs. It was nice that the train station was close!

I stayed here over the weekend for my birthday and had a lovely time. Service was amazing, when we arrived our room wasn’t ready so we were kindly offered an upgrade on our room with a better view and added shower. All staff greeted us with a smile and willing to answer any questions we had about the area and where to go. The rooms were clean and the interior felt royal with rich red and gold colours used. Only one down fall was the windows were quite stiff to open but nothing worth marking down on. Breakfast had everything you needed and was really good value for money.

Before making a reservation online, I phoned to check a small point. No reply, so left a message. No response, so sent an email. No response, so phoned twice more on different days. No response, so left messages. No response. If it is this difficult to get action when I am trying to spend money, what will it be like if I have an issue? Gave up and booked elsewhere.

So I thought I would share my review. Please note that I did contact the hotel and they failed to reply and tried to blame me for the bad service to my first email. Head office failed to reply too. Basically I asked for a cot to be put into the room. It wasn't. We chased 2x to no avail. And then finally a cot was put into the room. The cot was completely inadequate and I would challenge the manager to sleep on the mat they said was a mattress. They completely ruined our 10 year anniversary as both kids were up throughout the night and uncomfortable. I've added pictures of what they termed adequate mattress. Key issues, reception too busy with American customers to respond. Wait times in excess of 15 minutes. Even when requests are made they are not actioned. I can add what's app and email messages to prove this. No apologies. I've stayed at the premier in 2 mins down the road and closer to Chester station. They provided better service. They actioned any requests and I didn't have to wait 15mins to speak to reception. Aave your money and book there! I asked for bed bumpers but the hotel didn't have these. My kids kept falling out of the beds. The beds are way up high and the tables and lamps caused head bumps. I asked for the beds to be put together numerous times as we couldn't move them. But they said they would. But didn't. Poor service let you down! The breakfast quality was poor too. Just very basic. Not fresh juice, the cheap usual cartoons filled with sugar.

The hotel is a tired old lady, once very beautiful but badly in need of care. One of the only 2 lifts were not working and that one wasn’t always available. The dining room decor wasn’t welcoming but the food was very good. The staff were pleasant but probably not enough of them. The cleaning in general should be greatly improved. The situation of the hotel opposite the station was very good especially for taking tours. This meant about a 15 minute walk into the heart of the city.

On 10 August, I brought a friend here for dinner. I knew the food would be good, as I was told it is cooked in the hotel kitchen (I don't know the relationship between the bar staff and the hotel.) The service here, compared to the hotel proper, was terrible; slow moving, reluctant to answer questions or explain policy. Finally got our food and left. So, if you want to be treated like you are in a Fawlty Towers operation, come here. If you want decent service, go across the street'

Food was nice, service was shocking. Sides delivered as starters. Rude waiting staff who were more concerned about chatting at the till/bar than paying attention. Half the sweets order turned up 30mins late. I was asked "what do you want" in a very rude and blunt manner by a waitress as I was asking for the bill, a "hello, how can I help" would have been better. Eyeballed aggressively by the chap this waitress was chatting to at the bar (possibly a chef). Not going back, and I suggested you don't go either. Only decent member of staff was the new supervisor who did a good job of trying to set things right.

The Old Harkers Arms, Chester. Quality pub and restaurant. Superb selection of well kept real ale. I had the Cheshire Cat bitter which is a lovely pint. They were doing a ‘pie week’ and what a menu that was - absolutely delicious. Needs to be on more than once a year it’s so good. A very well kept place. Bar man / owner had been there 12 years.

This pub has just franchised out its food and it's mostly burgers. The place was very cold, we kept our coats on. Food was mediocre, batter was overcooked on the fish and tasted as though it was cooked in the same oil as the hot wings were cooked. It was our first time there, was not impressed and would not go there again or recommend it.
