Lorna the lovely lady who greeted us when we arrived and left took the time to chat with us,she was very pleasant! Good staff make it an even better experience! When I attended earlier this week I wasn't there for food, but I was bitterly disappointed with the poor selection of beers on offer. This wasn't helped by the eye watering prices which they are charging for nondescript ales from nondescript breweries. My enquiry about whether they sold a traditional Scottish 80/- beer was met with a blank vagueness. When this sort of fare is being offered, poor ales at utterly ridiculous prices, is any wonder that there are so many pubs closing.

I walked in there one time and MBS was there eating a cheese roll and he decided to invest in my idea for a 1 million seater greyhound stadium. Magic! The pints were also class

We recently visited Cosmo, excited to enjoy their diverse spread, but unfortunately, the experience fell well short due to one glaring issue—most of the food was cold. While the selection looked promising, with a wide variety of dishes, the lack of proper temperature management made it difficult to enjoy anything. Hot dishes like the curries and the rice along with the mussels, prawns, pizza slices the vegatables on offer were lukewarm at best. The cold food not only detracted from the taste but also worrried me with regards to food safety. We informed a member of staff who said they would pass it on but no one else came back to speak to us about our concerns. The management needs to get a grip on this before someone becomes ill. This is one buffet we will be avoiding when in Edinburgh.

I’m embarrassed (for the restaurant) to write this review. But here goes… We booked a table for six people for 2.30pm on Saturday. We were contacted at 1.48pm, telling us that they “had a problem” starting their shift (!) and that they would take us at 3.30pm… So we delayed our lunch for an hour. When we arrived at 3.30pm (to an empty restaurant), the waitress was surprised to see us. We mentioned our text which received a quizzical response from her. She then explained that firstly she had just started her shift, secondly the text hadn’t come from her and thirdly the chef had also just arrived. She said that they would “probably” start serving food after 4pm but that there were plenty of restaurants down the road who would have space for us. So we went to Pacos (down the road) and had a really excellent meal. On the way back up the road, we looked into the window of The Bothy and I was (un)surprised to see a couple of tables of customers with booze but no food. Whilst I am hopeful that we might have been served eventually, had we waited for the chef to get his/her act together, I am not certain that we’d have been served this side of Christmas - we’re currently in August - which is a shame since I can’t wait that long (I’m in charge of trifle this year). But seriously, this was bad communication and terrible customer service. Avoid this restaurant- go to Pacos instead!

My wife and I last dined here in September 2013 and it was so good we had to go back. It did not disappoint. the interior of the hotel is worth going in for a pint on its own. We started with baked camembert and then had the seafood pie. The meal was amazing. Big thankyou to the staff for making it another memorable night. This is a must do dining experience in Edinburgh.
