Lovely fresh food but veggie food is in very high demand! Tom and Robin were amazing; excellent service and great cocktails :))

Después de haber sido clientes habituales durante varios años y siempre contentos con la comida, hoy nos sentimos decepcionados. No tenían varios de los elementos en el menú y cuando la comida llegó no era la calidad que esperábamos por el precio que estábamos pagando. El servicio fue bueno en general, pero no se nos acercó a preguntar cómo nuestra comida no era para poder hacer comentarios.

We ate here on Saturday evening. The food was delicious. We started with oysters, scallops and cured salmon which was delicious. I finished with a very generous portion of fish and chips which was quite possibly one of the best I’ve had in recent memory. My review would have given five stars if not for a few issues. The toilets were absolutely disgusting with urine all over the floor. I realise that they are also a pub which might explain this, but the cleaning checklist in the toilet said that it was last checked at 3pm- five hours before we arrived. Additionally, the bar was very noisy. Service was also fairly slow.

Extremely slow service! We sat down at Ipm - starters appeared eventually, but it was at least another hour before mains hit the table. Chicken dish very dry. We received a free glass of wine by way of apology. Disappointing experience and we’re unlikely to return.

Nice setting and food was decent however the service needs improvement. We were given our bill without asking for it or even being offered dessert menus. One of our mains was late on arriving and the replacement pea puree we asked for to go with the fish and chips was eventually brought out after our meal. All in disappointed, I wouldn’t rush back

Splendid. Went in for a swift half on a Sunday night. Got a seat at the bar on the far side. I like a big horseshoe/round bar like this. Decent draft beer selection. The staff are very attentive - lots of checking if anyone needed serving. No hanging around, waving an invisible tenner in the air here. The staff all look they’re in Peaky Blinders - love it. Very helpful too - showed me the other beers round the other side that I couldn’t see and even got me a taster. The surroundings are gorgeous and it’s got a lovely atmosphere - really nice and pubby. You can tell it’s gonna be good just from the outside as you enter.

I always enjoy the buzz and atmosphere....excellent service and the young woman from Austria serving was outstanding..... Good food all around except 3 of us went for the ribeye (£114) whick was decidely ordinary to the point of poor...reason being it arrived at the table decidely cool, depressingly grey and with barely any charring. Seemed to me it was meat straight from a cold fridge. Since everyone else's fish etc was ok we didn't send it back. We should have done so.

Excelente anticuado hecho por Stuart. Probablemente el mejor que he tenido. Gran servicio como de costumbre. Debe ir a Edimburgo.

Entré a tomar una copa mientras estaba en un día en Edimburgo, pedí dos rones OVD de 25 cl y una botella estándar de coca-cola. Me cobraron 14 libras. 70... ..resultó que la coca era de £ 4 que es robo a la luz del día... definitivamente no volverá.

Went in totally at random for breakfast at about 11:00 am during the week and didn't emerge again for about 90 minutes. Service was very slow and although one waitress was very apologetic it didn't really help when all we really wanted was a nice breakfast and then to get on with enjoying the Fringe Festival. The Full Breakfast I ordered was virtually cold, the bacon was tough and the fried egg over cooked. I asked for a second cup of coffee but that still hadn't arrived by the time we were asking for the bill. We did at least have plenty of time to take in the gorgeous old building with its ornate decorations and fittings, shame the service and food didn't impress quite as much.

Friends and I ate there to reminisce about a previous visit some 50 years ago. The food was not as good as we had hoped and it was very noisy in the restaurant due to the busy bar attached to it.
