Platform 5 in Edinburgh, City of

Food arrived cold was returned but could not be replaced therefore made other choices after far to long a wait second order arrived with cold veg and cold mashed potatoes would definitely not recommend eating in platform 5.

✋Do not order food here. Food took 40 min, was tasteless and was cold on arrival. A shame to the general pub food scene. I do not recommend going here when there are several good pubs surrounding this place 👎

Great place for meeting friends

Popped in for a quick drink with friends on a wet rainy day before heading home on the train. Great pub with a good atmosphere!

Very disappointed not wheelchair friendly at all all high tables on entrance when noticing the next level up the seating looked as if it was lower asked the bar person if there was a lift and she didn't seem to know !!!!!!!!!!!!!

The place is really nice, the staff are friendly. The atmosphere was really good, they had plenty of tv screens, some showing football and others rugby. I got served quickly at the bar and ordered the nachos to share. They were really good, very tasty. The toilets are upstairs, at the back, and then downstairs. Were very clean and modern. I would definitely recommend it, it gets very busy when Edinburgh Rugby and Scotland Rugby are playing.

It's a barn of a place but good for big groups and sport. Forget it if you want a quiet beer but lots of local bars for that. Service us quick at both the upstairs and downstairs bars. Crazy busy when murryfield has games / events

Nipped in here for lunch whilst waiting for a train at Haymarket station. Nice looking clean place. Fish and chip were perfect with a large portion served. Price was reasonable for a city. I'll visit again. TA!

Nice pub food was OK, toasties was a bit hard and not very warm. Chips were nice Was with colleagues and we had a great evening food however was functional as opposed to being a gastronomic delight

If you want all the sports and some ha' decent grub, this is the place to come. If you want decent booze, go elsewhere. It's typically quite busy and lacks a cohesive atmosphere

I come in to platform 5 a lot when in Edinburgh, popped in for a couple of drinks,decided to have something to eat I went to order at 8pm and the kitchen was closed even though it was advertised till 9pm and it wasn't even that busy very poor customer service

This is a great looking bar with plenty of tv's for sport. Had breakfast here which was average and fairly cold after a 30 minute wait (it wasnt busy). The real downside was we were told they had no coffee!! Really strange in this day and age

Per due volte abbiamo dovuto rimandare il panino con hamburger chiesto semplice, senza null'altro che la carne, e invece servito con verdure e salse. Very rare for me to leave a bad review. Chaos started when the app was indicating as no food or drink being available, so we had to order at the bar. Fine, but either offer the app or don't. Went to the bar to order and the server didn't believe that they served mojitos despite these being on the menu. A colleague helped them out, but they didn't have any mint, so it was more like a sad daiquiri. Food arrived after nearly 40 minutes, even though the place wasn't that busy and we had only ordered a burger and some nachos. The burger was fine, but the nachos were poor. The avocado (not guacamole, just plain avocado) was bland and sickly. The nachos themselves were over-seasoned, and tasted a little stale. Sure enough, my fiancé ate half of them and threw up less than an hour later. Not good enough. Avoid the food, especially.

I am just home after meeting a friend in Platform 5. So so disappointed we both had a BLT , very stale bread and poor amount of chicken and bacon. That's the second time I've been disappointed with your restaurant as its in a perfect spot , but food not worth it. Won't be returning.

We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Good atmosphere, lively, we sat at a booth which had a tv. You are encouraged to order via the green king app, however, oddly, this showed as no food available. Ordering at the bar was fine however. Service was prompt. The food is lacking some imagination, I ordered the club sandwich, I was expecting it toasted but you can see what turned up attached!

Came here a few days ago with my dog. Very welcome, friendly staff. Great food and drink at reasonable prices. Will come again.

Very nice place. A bit load, but stylish, clean, and just at the right place to have a drink while you are waiting for your next connection. Super friendly and welcoming service. Nice collection of available bear, whisky, gin, etc.

It's a nice place inside with loads of TVs for live sport, but the food and service let the place down. The food is average at best, steak sandwich, burger and fish & chips all overcooked. The service was slow, which is strange considering there were lots of staff working and it wasn't too busy. I would go back for a pint and to watch some sport, but definitely wouldn't eat there again.

Good pub if you’re waiting for a train, good atmosphere there were loads of Hearts fans there. The old firm game was on and looks like they were supporting Rangers. Celtic thrashed them- bad luck chaps

Sorry but every space everywhere had glasses and plates on them all night. I was there from 5 till shut. And the toilets! Ooft, just don't go there. My visit was last Saturday and I wouldn't say overly busy. Certainly not full.

Nice beer, but the food was very disappointing. The beef and bacon burger pattie was overcooked and hard, and there was only one tiny slice of bacon. The nachos weren't much better, made with bits of burger industrial cheese. Only ate half of it. Nice pub for a beer, wouldn't go back for food.

I had made a special reservation for dinner on Friday, August 9th, 2024 at 9 p.m. because the website said that the kitchen was open until 10 p.m. and we would like to have something to eat there after we arrived in Edinburgh. When the six of us entered the store, no one noticed us for a long time. When the bad-tempered barmaid finally took a look at me and took us to the farthest corner of the shop to a table where someone else was sitting, whom she shooed away, we lost the desire to eat something. It wouldn't have been possible because she hit us in the head while we were running, but we didn't think we needed to eat anything else here. The kitchen would be closed. By the way, the pub was almost empty, why did she pick the bad spot? We left straight away and would never come back.

Always a good spot for a pint when leaving Haymarket station with a great selection of beers. I left a small suitcase unattended to nip to the bathroom and unfortunately a thief passing by tried their luck and walked away with it. Janey and her bar team were super helpful and supportive. The team promptly checked CCTV and went above and beyond to recover the suitcase by going to neighbouring accommodation to align the movements of the the thief. Janey took my details when I had been left flustered by the sequence of events and her actions led to return of my suitcase within an hour from the hostel nearby and I can't thank her enough for her help and kind nature during a busy Fringe lunchtime service.

After a long time, we found we can have Belhaven Black in there. And also we can have nice small cuisines too. Upstairs room is very good. All staffs were very good when we visited several times. Thank you! Very good hamburger in here. Although we don’t drink alcohol in here, we can have a lots of foods. Very good foods and very good hospitality! All staffs are very kind!

Had a great time in Edinburgh. Went to Edinburgh Castle which was amazing. Visited Holyrood Palace where the King stays when he visits Edinburgh. The highlight of our trip to Edinburg was the Military Tattoo. What an incredible evening. Stayed at the Scotsman Hotel. Great area and wonderful accomodations.

Had an early dinner here before going to a show at the fringe. Food was not good. Wouldn’t think you could go,wrong with a toastie but was dreadful. Choc brownies were good. Lack of staff so a long wait . Staff were all very polite. Wouldn’t recommend.

3 of us came here after a day in Edinburgh for a few pints and some decent scran! It's perfect for the rail station, and even for a cheeky pint if you miss train 😉

I've been to many places for a nice hot breakfast. This might be the worst I've ever had. Waited 40 minutes while the plave is basically empty. Staff look like they've just heard a war is starting. And the large Scottish breakfast was horrible. Cold, about a tablespoon of beans. Dried breaking apart sausage. Cold hard potato scone. White cold toast. Dear lord tbis place needs to move on to another venture and stop serving this rubbish

Amazing location and a spacious pub. There’s loads of variety on offer with the drinks and the prices reasonable given the setting. Bar staff are friendly and helpful, the decor is good and everywhere is clean. I’ll be back!

Wouldnt recommend the slots in here they are literally a scam,over 300 in one slot on one game 50p a go and only 5 bonuses took over 200 spins to land my first 50p bonus, scammers

If the rugby's on this place is wild but if it's not it's a really nice pub.

Standard city centre chain bar . Can get very busy and in busy part of town. Food is to be expected from a chain pub although vegetarian selection limited. Decent selection of beers.

Had lunch with my kids and dog before a day out, staff were friendly and had a lot of time for my son, food was good and served hot and fresh. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a quick but tasty bit to eat.

Very busy pub. Very noisy. Have to raise your voice to order/attract attention of bar staff which the female with black hair behind bar seemed to take offence at as she shouted something back then flounced off to other end of the bar to serve where she didn't seem to take any offence at the men shouting orders. Note to women. Send your man to the bar if she's serving, seems to prefer that. Not great for the hospitality industry tbh.

FILTHY! No idea how this place passes its food hygiene inspection, doesn’t appear to be any cleaning going on anywhere. Food was OK but remains to be seen if I’ll get food poisoning later.

I should have known 12£ for a drink and lunch sounds too good to be true. We paid 27£ for two mains, two drinks and a fry. The food was something I would make if I didn’t want to cook, so basic and not fresh at all. The vegetarian options were not that good, salad, grilled cheese or haloumi and flatbread (I ordered that). The servers were nice and cider was good but if I could give zero stars for food I would. Don’t waste your money at this place, there are much better places around that area.

We went there for breakfast, Excellent welcome despite our broken English. A very good breakfast! A delight. A blonde waitress took care of us, she radiated kindness and kindness! She helped us greatly in finding the buses. Great breakfast!

We ate here to watch a rugby game. After saying which game, the cricket was turned on next to us so we had to move table to watch our game. I had to ask for food that wasn't coming.

Brilliant wee pub uses it meny of times for an after work drink, pre drinks for a night out, something to eat while travelling, right across the road from the train Station staff are always friendly. I would miss the place if I was in the area !!

Golf on every tv every angle you looked. But where are the staff. Every single table was full of empty glasses and no people. It looked like a table had not been cleared all night

The people working here are delinquent and dangerous I was attacked by 2 member of staff 1 pretending being a manager, the other a waitress. Very aggressive, scary and delinquent. Oh there was no reason being like that apart something strange with them!

Great bar for sports events with plenty of TV's.had drinks only .the only downside was the table area outside was a complete disgrace as there were cigarette ends everywhere along with rubbish why would you eat or drink outside with this.we went 2 days consecutive and still the same. Also the ladies toilet door lock was faulty .

That wasn't the finest pint of Tennent's you can find. I was there during the rugby match, and half of the pub was closed off upstairs, with only one bar open. It has certainly deteriorated since it first opened.

Excellent location staff are polite and professional good choice of drinks and plenty of places to sit. Really enjoyed our visit. Definitely recommend this place.

Beer was pretty bad, lines not cleaned properly and glassware not in good condition. Nachos were a rip off, a plate of crisps with a couple of sauces on top. The toilets were roasting and there was about an inch of liquid on the floor.

Tabel was never cleaned after the customer us left it was sticky. Prawns were not cooked properly and chorizo was burned. Said to waiter when he came to clean the table and he just ah thats a shame !!!!!! Wasn't offered a refund even though it couldn't be eaten. Won't be back

Extremely rude and agressive door staff. The people behind us in the queue said he's worked doors for 20 years and has never seen such poor treatment of customers. Do not drink in this bar. Vile.

Excellent pub for a meal and drinks., with railway memorabilia adorned the walls,. Customer service was excellent and the food was well portioned, hot and very tasty. Great menu choices. Very tidy pub.

It was nice enough but the seating could be a bit better. You have to go upstairs then down 2 flights of stairs to get to the toilet. Not ideal for the elderly or infirm. This was our first visit so we need to think whether we would go back.

The woman and man serving on the 1st bar on entry were just plain rude. I didn't get his name but at that point complaining was the last thing I was thinking about. We came from a funeral to there as was convenient for everyone in our party (ages 40 to 70) even though most people said they don't like it and unfortunately they were proved right. The girls who started on the evening shift were clearly new and actually lovely but Helen the woman who appeared to be in charge of the bar was less than friendly when I asked for a drink to be changed because it was wrong. We spilled a red wine at our table by accident and the glass was smashed in the process. I cleaned, sweeped and mopped that myself. The young boy who gave me the cleaning equipment was also lovely but I'm not really sure what the manager was there for as he was nowhere to be seen. I know this is a pointless complaint as nothing will be done but I just hope no one else is treated this badly regardless of where they came from. The manager Cooper, couldn't have cared less when I complained. He didn't even apologise for the terrible service. And by service I mean me goin to the bar and carrying the drinks up and down while him and Helen stared at me from the doorway at the upper bar because I had told they young boy that I wanted to see the manager. They should be embarrassed by their behaviour but suspect this will just carry on. Also why is the next question how much did we spend?! This is a disgrace. Do you only provide good service when a certain amount is spent? That just shows you as a company are judgemental and prejudice. I wouldn't spend one pence in your establishment ever again.

I Booked a table for six adults for Saturday well in advance and we were delighted to have the best table in the pub. The round table up the stairs to the right. Place was busy but never waited any more than three to four minutes to be served. A few times we used the bottom bar as only one serving at the top bar. The food servers did jump in to help out when they could. All staff very friendly. All toilets were clean which is good considering how busy it was. Loads of televisions around so never missed sports. This pub is in Scotland's capital city so expect to pay city prices. In my opinion £30 for 4 and a half pints and a double vodka and coke is very reasonable for Edinburgh. All in all great place for drinking and watching sport. Will be back on the 10th of February and will be asking for the same table. Cheers.............
