Great place to have food and drinks while watching football

Absolutely shocking service and behaviour from the staff. From what I seen from the manager to an innocent man in there is an absolute disgrace. Really disappointing as enjoyed the pub beforehand but what was served up to a reasonable man myself and husband decided to leave. Not due to the man’s actions but due to the staff. Clearly not trained to deal with any form of customer service. Would’ve been a high review yet the way the staff member conducted themselves is nothing short of embarrassing.

Steak sandwich. White bread a few bits of cold fridge steak ,rocket salad, amazingly rocket salad again on the side. Absolute joke of a meal for the price. Get a chef not a microwave cook. Chips were decent that says everything really..

I liked the beer here, I didn’t find this in other pubs. Well, the fish and chips are great

This is a great pub, particularly for watching sports, with plenty of tables and a good selection of draft beers.

Been here a few times when up for the rugby, have always enjoyed it here. Great for sporting events and food is good.

Fui allí esta mañana a desayunar, ojalá no lo hubiera hecho. Fue horrible. Teniendo en cuenta que esto es 930 de la mañana el tocino estaba frío como piedra, pero bien cocido las salchichas estaban demasiado cocidas, secas y honestamente no comestibles, incluso un perro habría luchado para comer esto. Parte del desayuno estaba al 100% ayer. Lo sé de hecho. Le devolví esto al gerente y le di el ingenio. Decidió simplemente ignorarme Volví al bar después de 10 minutos y pregunté qué iba a pasar me ofreció otro desayuno que me negué obviamente pedí mi dinero de vuelta dijo que no, lo que resultó en unas pocas palabras de elección que se dijeron antes de echarme del establecimiento. El gerente que no quiso dar su nombre no tiene habilidades de comunicación para estar en ese trabajo bien hecho el hombre sin nombre.

Pretty much what it looks like from the outside.

I have visited in the past for a pint on my way into town. However my latest visit 2/3/25 the experience was poor. Had to hunt for the breakfast menu to start with, the guy serving was friendly but I could tell he was run off his feet. Took 15 mins for the tea to arrive. The tea was consumed still no breakfast. We ordered more tea it arrived and I asked about our food? The girl said it was very busy and apologised. New tea arrived and the milk was off, then the breakfast arrived minus bacon,sausages and mushrooms on one, missing mushrooms and egg on the other. No butter for the toast. No follow up from the girl serving despite the fact she passed our table at least twice. By this time we had to depart for our train otherwise I would have complained. Pretty poor customer service and poor food presented too

Terrible service from the bar to the table service wrong order delivered for food, cold coffee served and dessert not being brought out before I had to leave.. unfortunately won't be rushing back.. 😕

Ordered mac & cheese for dinner with chips & onion rings ..mac & cheese looked like it had came out of a tin ..only thing that saved it was the portion of chips & the parmasan cheese ..when ordering mac & cheese you expect it to come with a cheesy crunch topping ..

Food was fairly basic but good, limited menu probably due to football being on and playing on all the screens, not the best for trying to have a conversation.

Buscando una copa antes de casa y nos encontramos con Pallavi en el bar que me sirvió con una manera cálida y amable y me hizo sentir bienvenido e incluido! Enfoque muy profesional y amistad genuina de una maravillosa dama de Mumbai en la India

Pedí un pollo blt con un lado de papas fritas condimentadas, las papas estaban frías y ni siquiera tenían una pizca de sal en ellas, así que no estoy seguro de por qué se llamaban "sazonado". El pan sándwich estaba muy seco y las cortezas eran muy rancio, muy pequeña cantidad de pollo simple y un poco de tocino picado frío. No volvería aquí.

Plataforma 5 es un concurrido bar deportivo, especialmente en los días de rugby y fútbol. El personal del bar hizo brillantemente para proporcionar un servicio rápido. Una buena gama de bebidas en oferta y comida en bar disponible aunque la falta de mesas debido al número de clientes hizo que esta no fuera una opción Un gran ambiente y un par de bebidas muy agradables antes de volver a casa

Was in for food and a few drinks last night; took a while for the food to arrive, but the service was friendly and the ladies toilets were spotless.

Very busy pub with pub grub sadly the afternoon we were there our food went back first was cold and a plain burger came with the lot then with cheese lol.. But plenty food coming out think we were just in lucky on the day but other than that it is a good pub abd meeting place

My friends and have come every month for a number of years now. A particular favourite was the fish and chips all round. However, over the last few months the standard has plummeted to the point where we are now looking for an alternative venue.

It's a nice place with decent food, pleasant service, many beer options and sport streaming... Good for a stop.

A friend and I saw in the New Year here, so Platform 5 will hold nice memories for me for that reason. A clean, tidy, well appointed pub.

I use to drink in here many of years ago! Use to come with my wife for a quick something to eat and a drink. Came in yesterday with my wife after a mentally draining day. With allergies you should have a paper copy along with an alectronic copy! Bought the festive sandwich and burger! The sandwich was absolutely solid. The burger nothing very festive about it.. Just a bacon and cheese burger with a wee ball which I am guessing was supposed to be stuffing. And it did taste as if it was under the heat lamp for a while. On top of that 35 minutes waiting time? Sticking to farmhouse inn

It's a busy functional food value pub for beers before or after meals or for watching footy with mates etc. I wouldn't choose it for food or for wine or a couples night out

the service at platform 5 was brillant, and food was brought out quickly. A special thank you to a member of staff matt who was very polite and welcoming.

Went there for a breakfast before coming home to Notts, absolutely bang on, everything perfect, anybody who wants a breakfast head here, I've been to other countries but this place is 10 times better👍

Wait staff was overwhelmingly slow. We waited over an hour from order to the time we got dessert. There was an elderly gentleman who told us he didn’t work there who was picking up glasses and dishes from tables. The same time he was doing so, 3 staff members were standing behind the bar with no customers doing absolutely nothing. The man came to our table to pick up our dishes (thinking he worked there we told him we hadn’t gotten our dessert) he told staff we were waiting for food and still took 30+ minutes. Fish and chips was overcooked. The nachos were soggy and cold. Staff never returned to our table to check in either. Would not recommend this restaurant. Edit: While I’m unable to add another comment we visited on Monday December 2nd. For a time frame around 1640 to 1820 we were there. We sat at table 37. When we first arrived there were maybe 3 tables of guests, while more did come in during our visit there was plenty of staffing for the amount. Only one (male) server was going to tables to deliver silverware/food. The other three were indeed at the bar with no customers majority of the time. I do understand being extremely busy in a work place and having patience, but unfortunately this was not what was happening during our visit. I hope that helps you answer any further questions.

Came here with my friends on Sunday teatime. Service was first class. Food was excellent. Atmosphere was really lively. Can’t wait to come back again soon.

Great pub good food and drink good choice

Friends retirement meal, very disappointing as food cold and veg way over done. £16:95 for a rather small portion and left feeling hungry. Venue is great and well located but won’t rush back to eat here.

It has a nice atmosphere and is passable as a place to have a drink, but don’t eat there.

A huge choice of nondescript & naff beers with a "whiskey made in Scotland" sign. Whiskey is made in Ireland. Whisky is made in Scotland. But why would a colonising company (Greene King), founded by a slave trader, care about cultural misappropriation.

My friends and I were shown to a table by our waitress Helen who was very happy to help, she was very friendly and took our order. Helen would come back a couple of times to our table to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Thank you great day.

Great atmosphere for the rugby! Very friendly and helpful bar staff. Hot dog however was poor for the price.

Food arrived cold was returned but could not be replaced therefore made other choices after far to long a wait second order arrived with cold veg and cold mashed potatoes would definitely not recommend eating in platform 5.

✋Do not order food here. Food took 40 min, was tasteless and was cold on arrival. A shame to the general pub food scene. I do not recommend going here when there are several good pubs surrounding this place 👎

Great place for meeting friends

Popped in for a quick drink with friends on a wet rainy day before heading home on the train. Great pub with a good atmosphere!

Very disappointed not wheelchair friendly at all all high tables on entrance when noticing the next level up the seating looked as if it was lower asked the bar person if there was a lift and she didn't seem to know !!!!!!!!!!!!!

The place is really nice, the staff are friendly. The atmosphere was really good, they had plenty of tv screens, some showing football and others rugby. I got served quickly at the bar and ordered the nachos to share. They were really good, very tasty. The toilets are upstairs, at the back, and then downstairs. Were very clean and modern. I would definitely recommend it, it gets very busy when Edinburgh Rugby and Scotland Rugby are playing.

It's a barn of a place but good for big groups and sport. Forget it if you want a quiet beer but lots of local bars for that. Service us quick at both the upstairs and downstairs bars. Crazy busy when murryfield has games / events

Nipped in here for lunch whilst waiting for a train at Haymarket station. Nice looking clean place. Fish and chip were perfect with a large portion served. Price was reasonable for a city. I'll visit again. TA!

Nice pub food was OK, toasties was a bit hard and not very warm. Chips were nice Was with colleagues and we had a great evening food however was functional as opposed to being a gastronomic delight

If you want all the sports and some ha' decent grub, this is the place to come. If you want decent booze, go elsewhere. It's typically quite busy and lacks a cohesive atmosphere

Went here for a couple of drinks decided to have something to eat, went to the bar at 8 pm and they had stopped serving food really come on been here lots of times in my opinion is not as good as it was

Entro mucho a la plataforma 5 cuando en Edimburgo, vine a tomar un par de copas, decidí comer algo. Fui a pedir a las 8 pm y la cocina estaba cerrada a pesar de que se anunciaba hasta las 9 pm y ni siquiera estaba tan ocupado.

This is a great looking bar with plenty of tv's for sport. Had breakfast here which was average and fairly cold after a 30 minute wait (it wasnt busy). The real downside was we were told they had no coffee!! Really strange in this day and age

Abbiamo scelto questo ristorante perché Simone è celiaco e abbiamo letto che servivano piatti gluten free. Per due volte abbiamo dovuto rimandare il panino con hamburger chiesto semplice, senza null'altro che la carne, e invece servito con verdure e salse. Aggiungiamo tempi d'attesa lunghi e comunicazione difficile.

Very rare for me to leave a bad review. Chaos started when the app was indicating as no food or drink being available, so we had to order at the bar. Fine, but either offer the app or don't. Went to the bar to order and the server didn't believe that they served mojitos despite these being on the menu. A colleague helped them out, but they didn't have any mint, so it was more like a sad daiquiri. Food arrived after nearly 40 minutes, even though the place wasn't that busy and we had only ordered a burger and some nachos. The burger was fine, but the nachos were poor. The avocado (not guacamole, just plain avocado) was bland and sickly. The nachos themselves were over-seasoned, and tasted a little stale. Sure enough, my fiancé ate half of them and threw up less than an hour later. Not good enough. Avoid the food, especially.

I am just home after meeting a friend in Platform 5. So so disappointed we both had a BLT , very stale bread and poor amount of chicken and bacon. That's the second time I've been disappointed with your restaurant as its in a perfect spot , but food not worth it. Won't be returning.

Came here a few days ago with my dog. Very welcome, friendly staff. Great food and drink at reasonable prices. Will come again.

We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Good atmosphere, lively, we sat at a booth which had a tv. You are encouraged to order via the green king app, however, oddly, this showed as no food available. Ordering at the bar was fine however. Service was prompt. The food is lacking some imagination, I ordered the club sandwich, I was expecting it toasted but you can see what turned up attached!

Very nice place. A bit load, but stylish, clean, and just at the right place to have a drink while you are waiting for your next connection. Super friendly and welcoming service. Nice collection of available bear, whisky, gin, etc.

It's a nice place inside with loads of TVs for live sport, but the food and service let the place down. The food is average at best, steak sandwich, burger and fish & chips all overcooked. The service was slow, which is strange considering there were lots of staff working and it wasn't too busy. I would go back for a pint and to watch some sport, but definitely wouldn't eat there again.

Good pub if you’re waiting for a train, good atmosphere there were loads of Hearts fans there. The old firm game was on and looks like they were supporting Rangers. Celtic thrashed them- bad luck chaps

Sorry but every space everywhere had glasses and plates on them all night. I was there from 5 till shut. And the toilets! Ooft, just don't go there. My visit was last Saturday and I wouldn't say overly busy. Certainly not full.

Nice beer, but the food was very disappointing. The beef and bacon burger pattie was overcooked and hard, and there was only one tiny slice of bacon. The nachos weren't much better, made with bits of burger industrial cheese. Only ate half of it. Nice pub for a beer, wouldn't go back for food.

I had made a special reservation for dinner on Friday, August 9th, 2024 at 9 p.m. because the website said that the kitchen was open until 10 p.m. and we would like to have something to eat there after we arrived in Edinburgh. When the six of us entered the store, no one noticed us for a long time. When the bad-tempered barmaid finally took a look at me and took us to the farthest corner of the shop to a table where someone else was sitting, whom she shooed away, we lost the desire to eat something. It wouldn't have been possible because she hit us in the head while we were running, but we didn't think we needed to eat anything else here. The kitchen would be closed. By the way, the pub was almost empty, why did she pick the bad spot? We left straight away and would never come back.

Always a good spot for a pint when leaving Haymarket station with a great selection of beers. I left a small suitcase unattended to nip to the bathroom and unfortunately a thief passing by tried their luck and walked away with it. Janey and her bar team were super helpful and supportive. The team promptly checked CCTV and went above and beyond to recover the suitcase by going to neighbouring accommodation to align the movements of the the thief. Janey took my details when I had been left flustered by the sequence of events and her actions led to return of my suitcase within an hour from the hostel nearby and I can't thank her enough for her help and kind nature during a busy Fringe lunchtime service.

After a long time, we found we can have Belhaven Black in there. And also we can have nice small cuisines too. Upstairs room is very good. All staffs were very good when we visited several times. Thank you! Very good hamburger in here. Although we don’t drink alcohol in here, we can have a lots of foods. Very good foods and very good hospitality! All staffs are very kind!

Had a great time in Edinburgh. Went to Edinburgh Castle which was amazing. Visited Holyrood Palace where the King stays when he visits Edinburgh. The highlight of our trip to Edinburg was the Military Tattoo. What an incredible evening. Stayed at the Scotsman Hotel. Great area and wonderful accomodations.

Had an early dinner here before going to a show at the fringe. Food was not good. Wouldn’t think you could go,wrong with a toastie but was dreadful. Choc brownies were good. Lack of staff so a long wait . Staff were all very polite. Wouldn’t recommend.

3 of us came here after a day in Edinburgh for a few pints and some decent scran! It's perfect for the rail station, and even for a cheeky pint if you miss train 😉

I've been to many places for a nice hot breakfast. This might be the worst I've ever had. Waited 40 minutes while the plave is basically empty. Staff look like they've just heard a war is starting. And the large Scottish breakfast was horrible. Cold, about a tablespoon of beans. Dried breaking apart sausage. Cold hard potato scone. White cold toast. Dear lord tbis place needs to move on to another venture and stop serving this rubbish

Amazing location and a spacious pub. There’s loads of variety on offer with the drinks and the prices reasonable given the setting. Bar staff are friendly and helpful, the decor is good and everywhere is clean. I’ll be back!

Wouldnt recommend the slots in here they are literally a scam,over 300 in one slot on one game 50p a go and only 5 bonuses took over 200 spins to land my first 50p bonus, scammers

If the rugby's on this place is wild but if it's not it's a really nice pub.
