Visited today for some lunch. Beautiful place, with clean and simple decor. There is a varity of seating, mainly bench seating, i would say, is accessible for most. The menu is varied with a choice that suits both vegetarian and meat eaters. I didn't have any cakes or sweet treats, but they visually looked nice from a distance. We ordered the breakfast stack with French toast and a full veggie breakfast. The highlight was the breakfast stack. The French toast looked beaufully made and tasted delicious - beautiful thick slice of brioche, sausages, and bacon with a side of maple syrup. Unfortunately, the veggie breakfast was nothing to rave about, mainly as it lacked in flavour, and the beans were tart and lacked seasoning. We had to ask for an additional knife and napkins as the table didn't have enough. The toilet also wasn't very clean. The room for improvement for this place is mostly the service and little touches. Maybe it is an unwritten rule or an ideal that is not common to all. However, serving a table of two of their food at least 5 minutes apart is a total no from me. It left an awkward, uncomfortable wait, while food was getting cold before we could both eat. Good location and hopefully can improve with some attention to detail.

Staff’s attitude was awful - yes it was busy but they were really rude. Pink chai very mediocre - didn’t taste like chai at all. The cakes and brownies very average, didn’t taste fresh and it was frankly quite disappointing. Very overpriced too.

The pastries are good but expensive, almost £4 for a very small slice of lemon cake. Drink prices are high but about average for Edinburgh. The hot chocolate was quite sweet. When it comes to service, we no longer have the impression of being a nuisance, no smiles. Too bad because it doesn't go with the charming atmosphere of this small village.

I don't want to be mean. But, this is one of the worst cafés I've ever been to. I ordered a coffee and a cake. I specifically asked for the coffee to be extra hot, which the employee said they could definitely do. The coffee came not just not hot, but actually cold. I ordered the biscoff blondie. It was more dry than the Sahara Desert. It was like eating a stale heel from a bread loaf, with a thin layer of biscoff on the top. I ordered a sausage roll, which was later in arriving than the coffee and cake presumably because it was being heated. Yet, it still managed to arrive cold. Not that I had a chance to inform the staff member of this, as he performed what I can only equate to a hit and run delivery of my plate. I had to return the sausage roll to be adequately heated. In fairness, the sausage roll was pretty good, when hot. But the cakes cost the best part of a fiver - most are around £4.50, and they do not represent value for money. Not once did any staff member, despite the café being relatively quiet, come to check on how we were enjoying our food. We went because my partner knew of the business through their social media presence, and the cakes do look appetising when you see them displayed. But the food/service is very poor. Like I say, I don't wish to be mean but I also want to give fair forewarning that if you're in South Queensferry, go elsewhere.

The Little Bakery in Queensferry is a true treasure! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the delightful aroma of freshly baked goods. The quality of the pastries, bread, and cakes is exceptional – everything is made with care and attention to detail. Their sausage rolls and pies are some of the best I’ve ever had, and the sweet treats like the scones and traybakes are irresistible. The staff are warm, welcoming, and always ready with a smile, making the experience even more enjoyable. It’s a charming spot for a quick bite or a takeaway, and everything is reasonably priced for the quality you get. If you’re ever in Queensferry, The Little Bakery is an absolute must-visit!

Lovely bakery🥐 Just take a look at the photos attached😍 The only things I can't hold - they can't do hot chocolate/ cacao without any sugar 🫠 and when you've got some perfect cinnamon bun - I prefer to have something neutral for drink instead really sweet cacao ( and it was required do not add any sugar)

My wife and I went here whilst in south Queensferry with the babes. We intended to go to another rather popular establishment further along the road but unfortunately they were sold out. The Little Bakery it is. The cafe is quite popular, pink and pretty. You can sit in as they offer full menu but we just wanted a in and out job. We were looking for something sweet but were drawn to the curry sausage rolls so we got a savoury as well. There is a vast selection attractive sweet options. I was almost trembling with indecisiveness so of course we got a selection. First the sausage roll. Unfortunately it looked better than it tasted. Perhaps it was because it was very warm but it was as rather bland. We didn’t get any curry flavour but the texture was crisp and flaky on the outside. You can tell they are hand made as they as they weren’t all in uniform shape. The sweet treats were a bit more positive. The chocolate tiffin slice was lovely with thick layers. I loved the dark chocolate and pistachio loaf which was very moist and delicious. The cinnamon bun which I was most looking forward to had a very sweet and tasty filling but I felt that that the dough itself was quite tasteless. Overall it was quite pricey but that’s to be expected for such a touristy area. Staff were nice enough.

Visited for coffee and cake and for a look round as I was thinking of ordering a birthday cake from them. However, all their cakes at the counter were not under cover, sausage rolls piled up uncovered, scones uncovered. When I saw a fly crawling around on the top of a beautiful oreo cake sat proudly on the counter it just turned my stomach. There were several flies buzzing around the food. Window sills were filthy with dead insects and crumbs. Yuck. Drank our coffee and left. The only reason I give 2 stars was for the young chap that served us, he was super friendly and helpful. Won't be back.

Food so far has been 4 Service 3 needs to improve Atmosphere 2 It can get busy in here and they have tables in a lower section at the back but it's not enjoyable sitting there so I'd avoid if that was the option. I don't see the need to be seated if tables are free and unreserved, because there were a few tables in the upper area that were free but were asked to go to the rear. No thanks. Not cheap but OK. Popular because not much competition. Alternative is Orricco Pier which has a few nice tables outside that catch the sun

It was a quiet day in South Queensferry so when we arrived it was steady but not busy at The Little Bakery. This is a popular place to go, the service was good and the food did not take too long to arrive. Food was also well priced and was a plentiful serving. There is plenty of seating inside and more towards the back. The atmosphere feels a little old and it appeared that there was measurements being taken for renovations to take place. Still would have no issues with going back. Great place for breakfast or lunch.

Went in here today for a quick coffee, big mistake! It was busy but still plenty of tables! Waited at least 10 minutes to place my order for a coffee and scone. The waitress apologised for the wait, fair enough, and then took the orders for the two tables next to me. I then waited and waited and waited whilst the last table to order after me were served two coffees and cakes and then the table next to me got their big ‘hot breakfast rolls and pot of tea,’ and still I waited and waited and finally after 20 mins of waiting after my order was taken so 30 mins of wasted time I decided to leave. Just appalling service and waitress tried to make excuses they are busy when I was leaving but as I pointed out the other tables who ordered after me and mine was the most simple order were already well into theirs and no sign of my coffee. Went two doors down to Orocco, placed the exact same order within 5 mins and had my coffee and scone within another 5 mins so much better service and beautiful view.

Very annoyed at my experience today at The Little Bakery. Just lost a local customer due to the attitude of the owner. I regularly visit the cafe with friends, walking the dog, and with family. Always thought bit overpriced but good cakes and convenient as I live in South Queensferry. I popped in today to order a cuppa and type something up on my laptop between appointments - as the cafe was quiet and it was convenient. Ordered tea and sat for a while typing - there were one or two customers when I went in, but they left and it was pretty empty. Initial waitress I spoke to was lovely and polite. After an hour or so, and whilst contemplating another cuppa and some cake to take away the owner walked over lifted my cup and told me they were introducing a laptop ban. When I asked why he said ‘it’s not a business it’s a food establishment!’ And they don’t want people working there -he went on to say it’s 45 mins for a cup of tea or 1 1/2 hours for food and I’d clearly overstayed my welcome. I said the place is empty surely one customer is better than none and explained that I’m a regular and normally don’t have my laptop but he was hammering home the point and really quite rude. So I paid and left. And I won’t be back! He could’ve asked if I wanted something else and upsold rather than being rude and unwelcoming. There’s other local places with lovely staff and better food I’d rather give my money to. I know they won’t miss one customer as they’re usually busy but maybe if people eventually get tired of poor customer service, a bad attitude and the overpriced but less than average food they might appreciate how important every customer is!

Having been here before with my dog I was disappointed by the poor service we received today. I had pre-booked and informed them that I would be bringing my dog with me, at no point was I informed of any new rules in place. We were given a cold greeting on arrival. Once seated I poured out of bowl of water for my dog and was abruptly told that dogs aren't allowed to drink in here, I would have to take her outside to use the communal bowls, even in the below freezing temperature! I then gave her a chew to keep her occupied, on top of her own blanket so that she wouldn't make a mess. Another member of staff then abruptly told me that dogs aren't allowed to eat in here. I asked why and was told that although no-one has complained today, there have been complaints regarding the messiness of dogs from other customers recently. I was also told that if she started barking we would be told to leave. The whole time she had not made a sound or disturbed anyone. When I explained that I felt you couldn't claim to be a dog friendly cafe if you didn't tolerate a dog's basic needs or normal behaviours, he still insisted this was ok! Even though we were intending to be paying customers! Unfortunately we felt we could no longer stay and went to Down the Hatch instead, who were much more accommodating, it was like night and day! I'm sure this cafe is fine for a cuppa and a cake but it is NOT dog friendly. We certainly won't be back.

Visited with a friend yesterday for lunch and cake having booked a table. The tables were very cramped together and we were rushed to make an order straight away. Both had a filled roll which were fine, but not really worth the £7.50 each as the fillings were very dry and slightly overcooked. Went up to order a cake and coffee each after and weren't told that our table was due back. Before we had managed to finish, one of the servers (assuming owner) walked over to our table with another couple in tow telling us it was required back now. Both us and the couple that he brought over felt visibly uncomfortable. Have no issue at all with tables being required back, but the abrupt way it was handled soured the experience. Had he come over 5-10 minutes prior we would have been able to box up what was left or finish quickly without the pressure. Not sure we'll be back, certainly not on a weekend.

For clarity, members of our family have visited several times before and the last time I ate there (February) I enjoyed it. Sadly today was a very poor experience, though. We went for brunch as a party of four for my Wife’s birthday today. When I’ve eaten here before it has been much busier and you might expect the odd mishap. Today it was less than half full (our booking was for 1030) and there were still empty tables when we left. There didn’t seem to be any queues or an obvious staff shortage. They just didn’t seem switched on. Yet our host was diligent enough to double-check our order before committing it to the kitchen, so we didn’t expect anything to go awry. The Little Bakery doesn’t strike you as the kind of place to serve a drink without a glass, but when our drinks were served, our host brought an apple juice without a straw or glass, and we had to ask for the latter. We also asked for table water (last time I recall it was brought by default as we were shown to our seats), but it never arrived. When the food was served, two of the four orders were mixed up. Our server didn’t wait to check if we needed anything (again, it wasn’t obviously busy) and I had to hunt for our host to ask for assistance remedying the orders. When the two dishes were returned, the “Canadian” pancakes arrived doused in golden syrup - rather than the maple syrup stipulated on the menu. Not only was this strange, because the other dish replaced at the same time did have maple syrup and the difference was very obvious in colour and viscosity, but it ruined the dish and none of our party could palette the pancakes. Nobody enquired how our food was and we couldn’t find any staff to raise attention with. Moreover when I presented myself to pay nobody asked how our meal was or frankly seemed to care. Given it’s my Wife’s birthday I was not in the mood for agitation so simply paid the bill. I wasn’t even offered a receipt! Given their lack of attention, I doubt The Little Bakery will read this - let alone respond to it, but sadly for them there are much better options for brunch in South Queensferry and I urge anyone reading this to prioritise “Down The Hatch” where everyone certainly cares for every detail - however big or small your order.

This place should be good because, well, it’s a cake shop, but unfortunately it’s quite unwelcoming and depressing. The cakes are fine (overly sweet for my taste but pretty good) but the staff are moody and slow. A lick of paint, a decent playlist and service with a smile would cheer it up a bit.

Got 2 breakfasts here, 2 French toasts. I don’t know if these people know what French toast is supposed to be because what we were served was not it. A massive piece of bread that was a little toasted on either side. Bread is way too thick, not soaked in egg long enough at all. French toast is much thinner and eggy, this was basically just eating a massive dry piece of bread, horrible! Coffee was nice.

We all had fried breakfasts which were average. The service was ok but they needed more staff on for how busy it was. As we were finishing, an older waiter kept rushing us to leave, before we’d even paid. The three times I’ve been here there have been flies around the cakes and in the bathrooms (which were also unclean). A disappointing experience.

A fantastic find with great views of the forth bridges from the nearby harbour. Staff were very welcoming and got us seated quickly. The full Scottish Breakfast was fantastic with good quality sourced produce. The pancake stacks were huge, generous portions and utterly delicious. The presentation of the food was put together by someone who really knows what they're doing. My daughter had a smores hot chocolate which was so thick and chocolaty. There are also various freshly made cakes a breads to take away if you wish. As you can probably tell by now, I certainly am a fan of here and will be making another stop here next time we visit Scotland. Keep up the good work guys 👍

Just moved to the area and thought this would be a great place to make my local coffee shop or bring visitors for breakfast. However I've been twice now and both times was very disappointed. The food and coffee is decent, however its taken over 30 minutes for it to come. Today, they seemed to completely forget about us and it took over 40 minutes for two breakfast rolls which only arrived after having to remind the staff I existed. There's better coffee shops in the area with much better service.

Lovely service but food took a long time to arrive. The food was also very average and overpriced unfortunately, but the cakes were delicious!

Had soup and a sandwich with my friend. Soup was carrot and sweet potato, was probably decent soup, marred with far far too much pepper. Sandwich was a rock hard roll. Wish i had gone for a cake

Bought some treats to eat on our boat trip and enjoyed them so much that we visited again when we got back a couple of hours later. Amazing home made cakes and friendly service.

What a really disappointing experience! Been twice in last month and food not great, ambiance non existent and customer service absolutely shocking. Will never be back. Other places deserve my hard earned cash.

We had not checked previous reviews when we visited and glad we hadn’t as our soup, sausage rolls and drinks were all delicious. The soup was sweet potato and carrot and was piping hot and a hearty bowl. The staff were all so friendly and prompt too. We will definitely be back!

A vibrant brunch menu?!? Not a single veggie or vegan savoury option. Cakes looked good but not for breakfast.

Been there twice now, unfortunately second time will be the last. Before i ordered i asked about vegan options for pancakes, as it stated on menu, was told there is only vegan french toast . Was taken aback that no information given about any other options even on the menu is states pancakes and toast available. Had to order that. Waited for 30 min minimum. And once arrived - what a disappointment. On the menu french toast comes with icecream, mine came with none. Toast was dry and tasteless. Just two peaces of bread with some raspberry jam and dark chocolate syrup. Very unpleasant experience. Maybe chef has changed or someone wasn’t in a good mood, but unfortunately wont be back.

Was in earlier today, immediate impression was a bad one. For a start the (only) staff member there was indifferent and unfriendly. As a result I felt very uncomfortable and it was apparent this individual just didn't want to be there, or just didn't appreciate their customers. The place itself is a bit shabby and badly needs a makeover. Given that there's plenty of other cafes nearby, I would recommend people go elsewhere.

Small pub. Not on main route. Most be a nightmare getting beer kegs to the pub. Beer was food. Staff friendly. Welcoming atmosphere.

Great tea and pastrie. Cozy area to read, write, or hang out with friends. Only downside was that there wasn't any wifi.
