Today i have ordered an afternoon tea takeaway for the 21st November from Betty’s Northallerton. I rang and received a pleasant greeting. My order was taken and repeated back to me as we had to change the sandwich order, due to a fish and seafood allergy. The person was polite, courteous and professional. I would recommend this service to anyone who is wanting an afternoon tea, and have not got the time to visit the tearoom.

I would never give business to this place ever again. I am incredibly disappointed and disgusted with the customer service of this place. I was taken here for a meal as a treat and sadly it was not the treat I had looked forward to. I am celiac and so I can’t eat gluten. I ordered off the gluten free main menu and the gluten free dessert menu. We paid for the bill and the service charge, on our way home I knew I didn’t feel well and within the hour my stomach was in soo much pain I took myself to bed. I’d definitely been given gluten in the main or in the dessert I’d ordered. I stay well away from gluten and so I know the symptoms when I’ve eaten gluten all too well! I was so poorly that evening and through the night, which was a real shame and upsetting. Those people who suffer with celiac will understand. I rang up and asked to speak to the manager who didn’t care to really want to know my complaint and put the owner straight on the phone. The owner was so rude and heartless. He began very abruptly and arrogant, he went on to say that he cooked my food and served it which was an absolute lie and that he knows those meals don’t have gluten so therefore didn’t believe me. He would not accept that I’d been poorly from his food. No compassion whatsoever. I genuinely feel so upset by this experience. They refused any compensation. They refused to offer me a refund for my meal, which is the least they could have done. the owner showed no understanding or empathy for the fact I had been so poorly after eating at the restaurant. I know exactly how my body reacts when I eat gluten and without any doubt in my mind that restaurant had gave me gluten! I would not recommend anyone goes here with allergies, they simply don’t care. I won’t eat here ever again, the manager was incredibly rude to me on the phone. An all round awful experience I wouldn’t wish for anyone else. I will forever be telling friends and family to not go here and give them business as the owner is not a nice person at all to deal with. I feel so let down by this business and I feel terribly treated as a customer and overall utterly disgusted. They can reply with a response to this post but I know exactly how I was spoken to and treated in this instance by the owner.

After helping with a power cut the week before. We thought the least we could do was pay this place a visit. Our food honestly was absolutely gorgeous. I'm still hearing 4 hours later how great the Yorkshire pudding wrap was, and my pie was fab. Lovely friendly people, beautiful location, and perfect food. Thank you also to the nice lady who suggested we move table so my little girl could look out on the scenery. The farm shop was great and there's even a sweet shop and pottery painting place. We will defo be back as my little girl wants to see the "sheep with the crazy hair again." Would absolutely recommend.

We called on spec today for a quick lunch prior to visiting friends in the area. The welcome was friendly. Staff and customers were most welcoming to our two little dogs. How nice this was. The food was most acceptable . Decent-sized portions and a lovely selection of seasonal vegetables. Pity not all pubs are so accommodating.

The Joiners Shop Café and Kitchen is a fantastic spot for families and dog walkers alike. With its charming “Woof of Fame” board celebrating visiting dogs, it’s a welcoming place for pet owners. The food is delicious, the coffee is excellent, and the service is outstanding. Highly recommended by Nina and Lettie for a relaxing and enjoyable stop! Check out books for sale by local authors.

We have visited this cafe on many occasions and can say that the cakes are amazing 😀 However the front of house service is certainly not warm and friendly. We would give them a great rating if only they would smile and even pretend that you were welcome as a customer. Alternatively I would suggest they are booked on a customer service course .
