We popped in here for a bite of lunch yesterday after looking on Tripadvisor for a good tearoom in Stokesley.........we were very pleased with our choice. As we were visitors, we asked a local where to find the tearoom, as we couldn’t see it on the High Street and were pointed in the right direction down an alleyway by the side of the Co-op.We were greeted by happy, efficient staff, found ourselves a table then made our choices from the menu and ordered at the counter. I had a jacket potato with coronation chicken which came with some coleslaw, a few crisps and a small salad.....just right...and my husband had a toasted ham and cheese panini with the same accompaniments. The food came quickly and was very tasty and well presented. We were tempted by the delicious looking cakes on offer but didn’t have space for one so maybe the next time we are in the area, we will definitely pop and indulge.....I notice that a previous reviewer remarked that the afternoon tea at £10.95 was expensive. In our experience, we’ve found that you are more likely to pay at least £12 if not £15 to £20 for a good afternoon tea, so I don’t know why they thought it was expensive! We thought that the prices were very reasonable and good value. We will definitely be revisiting if we get the chance.Thank you Bexters for a really pleasant lunch.

We popped in for lunch after finding this place down a little lane off the main street. Had 2 amazing hot chocolates made from melted drops instead of a powder. You could feel the difference as it coated your mouth. I had a ploughmans which was delicious, had plenty of cheese, great ham, a gorgeous chutney, crusty bread and proper butter plus a minimal bit of salad just how I like it. My partner had a brie and cranberry panini which by the looks of it had a whole brie in it. It was oozing out and looked amazing. They don't do half measures here and you get value for money.

This review is compiled on behalf of my wife and her sister who finally found the time in their busy lives to take some time of and have a slap up afternoon tea at one of the many gourmet cafes in Stokesley, eventually through local chitchat they decided on Bexters and although they found all the food was tasty and too a high standard they also thought it was extremely expensive for what was on the afternoon tea stand.

I found this place on Trip Advisor looking for somewhere to take my mother for afternoon tea. My wife and I take mother out a couple of times a year for afternoon tea. We've previously been to Betty's, Rockcliffe Hall, Acklam Hall and numerous other places, this little gem tucked up off Stokesley high street beats them all hands down. This is a smallish place with maybe 8 or nine tables and there is a lovely cosy feel to the place that is spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. The staff are lovely, very polite and helpful and couldn't do enough to make our stay very enjoyable. The afternoon tea was excellent with a selection of generously filled sandwiches, scones with jam and cream, a selection of cakes and pastries, in fact we couldn't eat it all and the items we left were bagged up for us. All this at a very reasonable price and substantially less than some of the establishments mentioned earlier. There is a very nice alternative menu and the food we observed being served looked very nice. This is a drop in place but if you want afternoon tea it must be booked beforehand. We all commented this is the best one we have had in the area. Well worth a visit and we will certainly be returning.

The town retains its old world charm, but by chance walked up a snicket/ginnel and found this charming but modern tea room. It was pretty full on a Tuesday morning, obviously locals. I have been here a few times with different people and each time its been quality. Today I took my mum for a birthday afternoon tea treat. We reserved a table in the off shoot of the main part where food and coffee is prepared so it was quiet, very comfortable and lovely surroundings. The afternoon tea was lovely- fresh leaf Earl Grey, beautiful selection of tuna, ham and egg sandwiches in the freshest of bread, warm scones with proper clotted cream and a chocolate sponge and bakewell tart. I cannot fault this place- its hidden away ever so slightly from the main places to have lunch in Stokesley so probably missed by many. It is still very central but I suspect you need to know its there to find it. Its worth a little wander as the service is very friendly but non intrusive. The décor is modern, homely and simple and the food is high quality, tasty and great value for money. Afternoon tea is just sort of £9 per person and worth every penny. Me and my mum are afternoon tea experts (we think) and this is far superior to others close by.

As a present to my mother, I bought in advance a high tea for her and a friend. They had the most wonderful high tea and mum asked me to write a top review for Bexter's and to say many thanks for the lovely tea, cakes and sandwiches. It could not have been better, they were happily greeted and felt very special. Thank you so much - and again a big thanks from my mother Marjorie and her friend, Ursula.

There are lots of refreshment places in Stokesley, but this is the best for ambience, friendliness and the quality of its coffee. Bexter's now has a solid core of regulars known to each other and the staff; this gives it a special feel. The welcome is second to none, a smile is guaranteed whatever the drink or bite. It's especially attractive to the solo visitor who wants a quiet read of their papers or a reflective few minutes at the outdoor tables.

We pre ordered afternoon tea for three. Table and food ready for our arrival. Lovely selection of fresh sandwiches, fruit scones with plenty of jam and cream, lemon cake and brownie. Staff were attentive and friendly, and the tables were not squashed together. The decor is 'shabby chic'. I would recommend to others and will definitely return.

We visited Bexter's Tea Room early February and we came away satisfied yet a little hungry. The quality of the scones, cakes and tea was second to none but we would have benefited by having a little bit more!We had one scone between us and an odd number of sandwiches which left us feeling hungrier than we expected. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was quiet and relaxing (just what you need for a Saturday afternoon).Make sure you book for afternoon tea so you're not waiting around for a table. I would recommend popping in for one of their cakes if you're ever around Stokesley!

This delightful little tea room is hidden away in the College Square end of Stokesley. Friendly staff, a cosy atmosphere and a good range of drinks, savoury snacks, cakes, lunches, etc. in my humble opinion, this is readily the best place in Stokesley for a light lunch, morning coffee, afternoon tea. Well worth seeking out Bexters if you are in this attractive little North Riding market town. My wife and I wouldn't go anywhere else!

We had a fabulous afternoon tea at Bexters on 12 December to celebrate my Nanna's 82nd birthday. We received a a delicious selection of sandwiches and cakes, all home-made, amazing scones, and a really nice pot of tea to wash it all down with. The service was so friendly and the ladies serving the afternoon tea took great care of us. We had a really lovely afternoon and can't wait to go back.

As I no longer live in Stokesley my visits to Bexters are infrequent, but yesterday I was reminded what I am missing. The cafe itself is small and cosy and unlike some of the more cavernous high street chains it was lovely and warm on a very cold day.The selection of wonderful cakes and snacks is wide and varied and your only problem will be deciding which to have. From previous experience I can tell you that the Scones are some of the best I've ever had and trust me I've had a few:-). The Coffee blend hits the spot and as my friend demonstrated the Luxury Hot Chocolate with all the trimmings is not just for children.Good coffee and wonderful food alone do not constitute a great experience but add in excellent service from two lovely ladies who provide quality service with a smile and pleasant demeanour and you've got the complete works.Great Coffee and wonderful food will on their own never make for a great cafe experience, add in

We made a visit to the tea room while on holiday. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. There is a great choice of tray bakes and cakes and they even had a few gluten free options! I can't remember what everyone else had but I had the gluten free lemon drizzle cake and it was yummy. My sister was a little disappointed her latte didn't have the teddy bear design like the picture but she enjoyed it all the same lol. If you are in the area it's well worth a visit.

This was the second visit we have made, since the new owners took the place over and on both occasions, we have not been disappointed - it was nice to see the continuation of the cafe.It is nice to see the reinstatement of the extra seating area, with it's wooden tables and bright decor,it adds something to the place. As before the staff are very welcoming, very friendly and nothing is a trouble, you are welcome to take a table next door and they will bring your order through, when it is ready- service with a smile! The chose of food is very good, and of high quality, with most of the suppliers been local, which is good to see. Would recommend any of the cakes, on display with a coffee of your chose- a real treat! On both occasions we have been, it has been a Saturday, when the farmers market has been on,( would recommend that to), and the cafe has got quite busy, just before noon, so would recommend you go early, if you want to try the place, on a Saturday. I think you wouldn't be disappointed.

I've had afternoon tea in a few places including Rockcliffe Hall but no where even comes close to Bexter's.Not only is £8.95per head amazing value (a third of what you pay in some places) but it is all sensational. As well as bottomless tea, we each got 4 5 finger sandwiches (with the freshest bread), 4 tasty mini cakes, a slice of moist coffee cake, and two beautiful scones (one cheese and one fruit) complete with a generous helping of jam, clotted cream and butter. The surroundings too are really quaint- a perfect blend of homely yet modern decor. I would certainly recommend you pay a visit- and wear something with an elastic acted waistband because you'll need it!

Lovely tea room set back from the high street. Staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. The choice of scones is ever changing and always very tasty and fresh. I inevitably end up with a carry out to feed the rest of the family later.

My fault for not reading carefully, but we travelled from Newcastle after booking a table for 3 for "afternoon tea". We first realised something was not quite right when, having been shown our table, no-one came to take our order! Food and drink had to be ordered at the counter and I then discovered that an afternoon tea package was unfortunately not available. We decided then to just have cake and tea as it was too complicated to get a selection of sandwiches, scones and selection of cakes. The food was good and the staff very friendly so a good choice for the passer by. It is a pity that they accepted a booking for "afternoon tea" - there was obviously a misunderstanding! A lesson learned for my next afternoon tea booking!

Went to Bexters with my sister, nephew (aged 13) and aunt for a late lunch. We all ordered separately but the food all came together. My sister and I had panninis, ,my aunt the delicious cheese and onion quiche and my nephew had a plain ham sandwich. This was huge! Delicious bread and lovely ham, with what looked like home made crisps on the side. We were definitely saving room for a cake or scone. I had already been offered to try the new raspberry and vanilla scone which had just been baked. This too, was delightful. I opted for cherry bakewell (gorgeous!) and my aunt had carrot cake. My sister had a problem paying by card. The lady serving her offered to ring my sister at the end of the day when they cashed up to see if they payment had been taken or not. How about that for service? Absolutely gorgeous in every way, makes a change from the 'chain' coffee shops (one has sprung up in Stokesley). I didn't want to write this review as it would encourage others to go and I want it all for myself! As I said, fabulous food, superb service. Thank you!
