Bank holiday lunch time and it was nice and busy, good job we booked a table because there were a couple of groups who were turned away. There was reasonable social distancing measures in place with plenty of space between tables etc. The menu was nice and we all enjoyed our lunches which consisted of paninis and toasties mostly. Service was nice and friendly too.

Popped in for a cream tea whilst passing through town. Very welcoming. Lovely home baked cakes, etc. Great service - very friendly and very obliging. Sanitiser available on entry and exit. Would just have liked serving staff in masks.

Came across Bedale as Leyburn was so busy with the cycle race, and we were so glad we did. A lovely tearoom, with very pretty decor, and proper china, my husband had the omelette special, which looked really good, he thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the porridge with red berries. All food was cooked to order, and well presented, very friendly staff, spotlessly clean, a must visit if in the area. We would definitely return. Dogs are welcome. Nice town lots of independent shops.

Quite a small cafe, but offering nice food - homemade scones, etc. Sandwiches, toasties, etc. Service good, prices reasonable, and good quality food. Situated on the main street.

We stopped for a quick cup of tea, but a lovely little cafe, so friendly. We only had pot of tea and the most delicious apricot and sultana scone. Only a small place, but well worth stopping at, the menu looked really interesting and I guess delicious. Only a small cafe but very clean and tidy, everything was well presented. Very prompt, cheerful service even after a long busy day, thanks and well done.

A warm welcome for all your doggies here at the Fika Room cafe! We have visited several times now with our rather large Bernese Mountain Dog and we are always greeted warmly and have been happy with the staff, the cakes, the drinks and the way that dogs are accepted and welcomed indoors. The staff have always been chatty and very pleasant. Well done! We will be back!

Mum and I came for lunch. Read rave reviews. Ordered a bacon and maple croissant and a slice of quiche and latte and tea. All tasted nice but portion sizes lacking. Croissant was pleasant and came with a small side of salad. Quiche was a small slice also with a few bits of salad. I was hungry and it did not fill me at all. We were going to indulge in cakes which did look nice but we saw some being served and slices not very large for £5 ish each. We had ‘huge’ cakes elsewhere They asked for £19 something, which I questioned. They were charging £2.50 each for a tiny tiny bit of salad, more plate decor than anything. We left feeling hungry and a bit cheated if I’m honest. Sorry!

Seven of us were spending a week flying at the Yorkshire Gliding Club, Sutton Bank and on a rainy morning we visited the Gavel for Breakfast on a Club Member’s recommendation. If you’re looking for a full English breakfast this is definitely the place to go. Good quality nicely cooked breakfast, good portions,(you would have to be ravenous to go for the large), excellent value for money, good service and friendly staff. Look forward to going to try the lunch on our next visit.

On a walk around and stopped for some refreshment. The beer was well kept and the bar staff was polite. We observed a local having a Ploughmans Lunch and what a plate full.....we shall return in better time to this proper family friendly country pub......
