Lovely pub. With an amazing welcome. Quality drinks and atmosphere. A special mention for Leo who was a total star and Marcia is tremendous character. The meals are great beer even better. We stayed in there other building for the long weekend but head breakfast in the dragon. Steve the landlord is a gent. We will stay again top marks 👍

We were passing through the area and popped in for some lunch. The staff were friendly and the service was good. The meals were very nice, and there was plenty of choice on the menu. A little background music would be nice to improve the ambience.

This was a great pub with great food to match. I had a chilli with basmati rice which made a nice change. Beer was good and we all agreed that all was great.

I went went here for the first time today with a coach party ( Redcar Breathercise) we had a lovely meal but apart from the meal we all thought the staff were lovely, they were extremely helpful, friendly and accommodating, we are already talking about going to the Green Dragon again.

Dreadful food . Second time at lunchtime . It’s extremely greasy . They don’t make any effort to remove any of it . The chips are vile - very overcooked. This time I sent it back . Replacement not much better . It’s very difficult to keep composing . They charged full price , just under £20 including a main and cup of tea . Will not go back

Visited on the 25th July in the afternoon and ordered fish chips mushy peas and homemade veg lasagna garlic bread and side salad. Fabulous food haddock very freshly thin battered, lovely. Pub dog friendly but no treats for him.

Room (2) very clean, well decorated, comfortable with well equipped bathroom with full sized shower..bed and all soft furnishings appear new and of good quality.....food quality at breakfast and dinner excellent.....staff very friendly and obliging....bar good.... typical English pub...

This is a really lovely little pub which is obviously popular with the locals as well as visitors. The staff were great and our room was very well appointed with everything you need even down to shower caps! We were at the front of the building facing onto the street so it was a little noisy at night but to be fair that quietened down around 11. Bed was really comfortable and the pillows were just right. I always judge a hotel on its beds and pillows! We had soft fluffy towels as well which is always a bonus We are in the restaurant and the food was both hot and tasty and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was lovely and a very good choice to be had. I would definitely recommend for couples visiting the area

First time visit. We were made to feel very welcome and the food was very good. We are both gluten free and this wasn't a problem with plenty of choice on the menu of meals which could be adapted to be gf. At the end of the meal we were told that new menus are shortly to be produced which will identify separately meals which are gluten free, vegetarian etc .

We were made to feel very welcome upon entering this lovely, lively pub on a friday evening. The pub is very dog friendly too. Service and the food were excellent and we would thoroughly recommend this venue.

From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome along with our dogs! They serve local casked beer that tasted fantastic, I had a pint of pennine that is brewed locally in Well village, a brilliant sign that their cellar is in tip top condition, food was great and fantastic value for money, the boys enjoyed a meal, drink & pud for £7.95! I had a prawn sandwich and it was perfect! Cannot fault this place 10/10 from me, the boys & the dogs! They also had a treat for the boys after their dinner and had dog treats, will deffo be back :)

Was staying over night here and met all my expectations, however I must say the Homemade steak pie went above and beyond my expectations. It was recommended tome by 1 of the friendly locals when I spoke to him. I have a huge appetite but it just got the better of me. The room was very nice and cosy had everything that I needed and when next in the area will be staying here again the breakfast was spot on with everything very tasty and freshly cooked. Many thanks for a great nights stay.

A lovely pub, our rooms were lovely, tea, coffee making facilities, the room was spotlessly clean and welcoming…our breakfast the following morning was perfect, we had a full English, with also a choice of fruit, cereals and fruit juice.. would certainly stay here again.

Absolutely excellent service, food was delicious and staff were very helpful as booked a table for 4 but then had my granddaughter join us. They were very helpful and accommodating at so short notice. Definitely recommend a visit do take out pizza's too bonus .

Visiting the area again and called in to see if the kitchen was open for an early dinner. Absolutely no problem at all was the answer, which when you're hungry is just what you want to hear. Our food was delicious, hot and plenty of it - try the steak pie, it was delicious! We didn't have to wait for at all for our food to be served by the manager himself who was great, but I should say that ALL the staff we spoke to were really lovely. We really enjoyed ourselves and will be returning.

We decided on an impromptu mid week dinner out somewhere local. Knowing that The Green Dragon had recently been taken over by new management, we decided to try it out. We weren’t disappointed; the service was great, the food delicious and plenty of it. The pub had a warm atmosphere, was clean and the staff were all really friendly. Went for lunch yesterday and had the steak pie which I was told is one of the best sellers and after eating it I could see why. My wife had the chicken goujons and couldn't believe the size of them considering it was a starter. I understand the current owners took over about a month ago… things are looking good, very good! A bar busy with locals having a late afternoon drink when I checked in but I was greeted warmly, understanding of parking rules outside checked… disc parking but not really a problem once you’ve worked it out and I was able to park each afternoon/evening almost outside the front door of the pub (although nowhere in Bedale is that far away)… then taken up to my room to show me the ropes. You don’t get that sort of personal treatment in many places now. My room was on the second floor… no lift but not too bad a climb, although if you have mobility issues it may be wise to phone to book and discuss possibilities. The room was a single but of reasonable size… if swinging of felines is your thing you’d probably be OK with a medium sized moggie. Comfortable single bed, impeccable good quality sheets and immaculate bathroom… all absolutely fine for a couple of nights and at a very reasonable price. You can eat your evening meal in the bar or restaurant/breakfast room… I chose the latter (and booked a time) which was a good decision as the bar was still quite full with locals. I had seen some food going out as I sat down, concluded that portion size was generous so ordered only a main (OK with a side of decent onion rings) which, again, seemed wise. My homemade steak pie with veg plate (carrots, peas, broccoli) plus mash and gravy was, indeed, substantial and delicious. A proper steak pie and the best I’ve had in a very long time. Other dishes going past looked just as good. If you have a healthy appetite there’s a reasonable choice of starters and desserts or puddings. I just about managed my pie and some ice cream. There’s nothing too fancy on the menu… it’s all good honest food which suits the pub and the customers. Breakfast, similarly, isn’t a fancy affair… you get a choice of cereals, yoghurt and fruit followed by a substantial Full English using local sausages, bacon and black pudding. I excluded some of the items in order to trim back a bit but, even then, was well set up for the day. They also do a bacon or sausage roll, beans or eggs on toast option for those wanting a smaller breakfast. It’s fair to say I was well impressed with what the guys at The Green Dragon are doing. It seems a well-run and friendly establishment where the owners understand and cater well for their market. They’re also integrating well into the community with social and charity events at the pub. The staff are great too... friendly and helpful... and well turned out in their green shirts. If in the area again this would certainly be my first choice for a couple of nights stay.

Writing on behalf of my parents who stayed the night while away "Mr&Mrs Raine" "The alarm night" my parents say that the staff and management is absolutely amazing and the couple who'd not been at the business that long were absolutely brilliant and we're extremely helpful. They can't wait to book up again and enjoy another stay at this great little destination that has great rooms,amazing staff and a perfect little cosy pub! Thankyou!

This is the first time we had been to Bedale.We wanted Sunday lunch and decided to go in the Green Dragon and were really pleased that we did. The restaurant looked full but they made every effort to get us a table. The Sunday lunch was superb.Very hot and plenty of it. The Manager of the pub was lovely as were all the staff.
