Decided to have a coffee after shopping at John Lewis and before heading for the Waitrose shop. Never visited before but very disappointed. The flat white coffee was awful, nearly cold and hideous taste. Queued for ages as well. Knives and forks and spoons looked dirty some still had soup stuck to them where they hadn't been washed properly. Why is this so badly run?? I really don't understand it. Looking at the reviews it appears to have been badly run for years. Very sad John Lewis!

I have been visiting here occasionally for several years. Yesterday, the quality of the plants and goods was still good (and still pricey!). Coffee and food were fully adequate. But the cafe service was probably the most abysmal I have ever encountered. Not a hint of a please or a thank you. The two staff members I had the misfortune to deal with didn't seem to know what a smile was and were as cheerful as if they had just received a death sentence. Coffee was slapped down on the table at the start and whipped away before we had finished afterwards. The word is 'rude'. Suggestion to management: spend time training staff and checking on them. I may try the cafe one more time, then it will be wiped off my list for good.

Breakfast used to be very good but the one we had on Monday was awful, the 3 tiny mushrooms were like leather and the bacon was wafer thin and dried out. The hash brown hardly cooked and cold. There are hardly any staff and the waiting times atrocious.

Pleasant enough as far as the 'garden' aspect is concerned although not sure if it was an intentional play on words when observing a sign stating: "Bare with us as our Christmas tree delivery has been delayed", so much for modern day education, faulty Spellcheck or as mostly the case these days staff for whom English is not their first language. As for the café the indifference to customers is as bad as ever, bordering on arrogance because nothing has ever been done about it by those responsible. The service is slow with staff seeming to enjoy operating at a gentle pace that suits themselves, pausing to have little chats with each other & often content to engage in a long conversation with a customer, all the time working hard to avoid eye contact with the usual long queue of customers. It's the indifference that is so overwhelming. The staff need replacing as I suspect they have done the job for too long & imagine they have earnt the right to do as they please. The breakfasts are fabulous but my lasting impression is that I have to pay a price, not for the food but to have to endure the dreadful service.

what a shame, 3 of our orders were fine but the small plate fish chips and peas and classic brunch were cold and overcooked. Youngman who was the chef or cook should be ashamed of himself. there is no way I would of produced such a poor plate of food small plate or otherwise. I didn;t complain as I had to ask 3 times for someone to clear and clean the table. 3rd time visiting the red lion but not sure Ill be visiting again. I know you get what you pay for but at least it should be edible.

Just had my first and last visit to this Starbucks. Ordered two hot chocolates. The young girl making the drinks called my name and handed me one drink. I explained I’d ordered two and this was met with a blank expression. I waited a few minutes while she made drinks for other people so asked her why I still only had one drink. This was met with an eye roll and she started to make my other hot chocolate whilst prioritising other people’s orders. She eventually plonked it down without an apology. I decided not to say anything but as I walked away she offered a very sarcastic ‘you’re welcome.’ Not a great customer experience

We have eaten here a few times now and beyond the first visit which was good the quality just hasn’t been the same since. We ordered the chickpea curry which says it’s slow cooked, it wasn’t, the chickpeas were hard and I could have made better myself, very disappointed as it run by Indians which you would expect a decent curry at least. Services was not great, nobody cleared the table or asked us how the meal actually was. Not big portions either. Shame as the location is nice and the venue is nice too but the food isn’t worth the money

First time I have been here for some years, and was surprised to see it is now a Dobbies Garden Centre with a Waitrose inside. I confess to liking garden centres more for the home stuff than the garden gear, so I was disappointed as there was not really that much on offer. We contemplated having lunch here but the menu looked poor and there weren't many customers in the café section which was probably telling. Also noticed Ladd's Garden Centre is now shut so that is pretty disappointing.

Was absolutely disgusted with the manager marko He has no customer skills at all The bar staff Tara and ashleigh were brilliant had all the skills to make a customer feel welcome the manager marko made me feel uncomfortable and awkward Would not recommend a visit if he is behind the bar or on the premises those poor girls have to work in an environment that is not friendly for a pub/club night spot in town has not been an enjoyable visit

Long narrow cafe with about 10 tables outside in the main street. Super friendly service, accompanied by an offer to carry the tray outside. Straightforward food to carry you through the day, with a few twists.
