Visited today for breakfast. Hot buffet was very good. Very professional service from sam the manager who was courteous and very friendly can't recommend enough

Usually not too bad , but tonite the service took nearly an hour for our meals too arrive. Although the steak was cooked right , medium rare, onion rigs were soggy, peas cold, chips cooked in burnt fat and soggy and cold, tomato cold and tasteless. What a shame poor quality food which you pay hard earned money for... Come on Bobbing Apple won't be back too soon . Get your staff in order.

We eat here Sunday 1st September and had a carvery. The Bobbing Apple is already great value for money but I had a 40% off voucher making it an absolute steal! The carvery was tasty and plentiful as you’d expect however the Mac and cheese which was a shame. The staff were friendly however the queue to order took a while and it seemed like the managers didn’t want to muck in. Still… for £20 for 3 dinners, this is a bargain!!!

Liane was a lovely waitress very friendly and approachable. Nice to have a play area for the children but a shame the outdoor play area is no longer available.

Came for an early evening meal with my friend. The food was nice and very reasonably priced. The main reason for this review though is to praise the lovely waitress Sue. She was very attentive and friendly. She checked everything was ok with our mains and then again with our desserts. We had a lovely chat with her at the end of our evening even though she was very busy. A lovely lady and a true asset to The Bobbing Apple.

Sunday carvery, I’m Going to be honest, I really enjoy it here, the Yorkshire puddings are lovely the meat is lovely, past 3 times I’ve been I’ve been very disappointed and it’s not the food that’s the problem it’s the management, we book table for 4pm and past 3 times have been and arrived and all the vegetables have gone and they will only re fill with frozen peas they shouldn’t cater until 5/6pm if they are not prepared to cook more fresh vegetables, however going on a 1oclock arrival everything is fully loaded and beautiful very very impressive more than the Toby carvery and they gave us a doggy bag for the dog very kind lovely

Poor food, poor service. Came early afternoon and lined up, when we asked for a table for two (asked if we had booked which we hadn't) but we could see loads of spaces instead we got put round the corner by tables and tables of families with babies and the play area. No consideration that we were slightly older. Food took 40-45 minutes, no one came to tell us there would be a long wait, neither were we told when I ordered. I am sure the reason they get business is because of the Premier Inn next door. Not a place I intend to return to.

Great food, served very quickly. Honey served us and was lovely, very helpful at any needs. Would recommend to others!!

Went here for dinner on the 22nd.Not had any problems here for several years and that was under a previous management and menu.The food was fine although the chips were nothing special.I had the mixed grill and my wife had the smothered platter.My steak came just the way i like it (ie blue).the service was fine and the staff were polite.My only real criticism is the rather tired and down at heel state of the place itself.From my seat i could see 2 cupboards with missing doors and a lump missing from the floor.Also one of the toilets is often out of order.To me the place needs a bit of TLC after all its not high end but a bit of a spruce up would do no harm.

Food was awful. Burnt breaded mushrooms, soggy chips and battered cod was mostly batter with hardly any fish. Terrible service.

Called in here for drinks after a friend's funeral. Staff friendly but tea/coffee machine wasn't working too well - couldn't make hot chocolate and cups overfilled. Many of the cups given to the group for drinks were very stained- not acceptable in a public restaurant.

Had Xmas day meal here with me the wife and grandkids it was terrible service was very poor and slow the roast potatoes looked like aunt Bessie’s out the packet and the sprouts were hard and no cauliflower absolutely disgusting I would like 75% of the money I paid I will never eat here again

Booked a table for 5.15pm for Christmas Day with my family, the only time that 8 of us could be seated together. No pre dinner drinks offered even though it was supposed to be included in the deal. Slightly late in getting to our table, even though we arrived 30 minutes early, and the seating and tables were dirty. Went to get our Christmas dinner but it wasn’t anywhere near what it should have been like. Meat over cooked and quite tasteless. Sprouts grossly undercooked and parsnips were burnt to a crisp. Roast potatoes were like mush. Stuffing balls tasteless and Yorkshire puddings were rubbery. Christmas pudding was cold. Some of the staff were ok but most had faces as long as a kite. Not a good experience, especially as we’ve eaten there before, but won’t be going back until many improvements are made. At a cost of about £450 a waste of money. Be nice to receive an apology and a refund but I won’t hold my breath.

Fully booked but wasn't it was empty xmas eve. The place is sticky, tables and chairs broken/wobbly, mess everywhere,toilets broken out of order, lazy staff, waited an hour for food got a refund. Yet the carvey sitting there with loads of food unattended. This place needs to be closed down fast and let some one that noes what there doing to take over. Only good point is there's plenty of parking. Stay away save your money for McDonald's just across the road.

Me and my family decided to go out for a nice relaxing lunch in the christmas holidays. We were told to sit at table 52 but when we went to order the woman at the bar told us we weren’t allowed to get food as we were too late even though the food was from 12-6 and forget that we sat at table 52. There were 6 of us (5 adults and 1 child.)1 of the adults and her child ordered their meal at the bar. They ordered the festive pie and a kids meal of poppers. The rest of the family ordered their meal including burgers, gammon steak and a club sandwich. After 20 minutes the second lot of the family’s food arrived and we started eating it. We waited a bit thinking that they were still cooking the 1st part of the family’s meal. After eating around 15 minutes their food hadn’t come out so we spoke out to one of the waitress and asked where our food is. She went to check and told us that the food ticket hadn’t gone through so they hadn’t cooked out food. We were very angry as we had nearly finished the rest of our meals so we asked to speak to the manager to see what had happened to the ticket. The manager was lovely and gave us a full refund and even went to the kitchen and cooked our little one her meal as she was getting a bit sad and hangry. We were very grateful for the manager but we were quite disappointed that our original meal had been cancelled. The restaurant wasn’t very full and the area we were sat in had no people. Overall, a not so great meal out due to forgetting order but the food was good and drinks were nice as well.

If I could give a minus 100 I would. Absolutely shocking behaviour from Mikey the waiter! So first of all we booked it two weeks prior, due to it being my dad’s 60th birthday. We booked it for 7pm. We arrived and all was going to plan. Then we placed our orders around 7:30. 7:40 food started coming out, (we did four separate orders). First came out my parents. Then my sisters , even though she ordered a mixed grill and I only ordered a lasagna. I have it until 8:15 and then started to get a bit worried as two of the orders didn’t come out? So I went and asked the manager, who then told me our tickets didn’t go through. So she offered us our food and a refund. Which was absolutely fine, as much as we was annoyed we didn’t let it affect our night. All night we was being watched like criminals but Mikey , he kept staring at the table! We had two children with us so we just thought it was because of them. As the night went on we had all eaten and asked for the plates to be removed before deserts. They were not, deserts started to come out. I then asked Rebecca another waitress to see where my desert had gone, as it was missing. She was so polite and resolved it straight away! Then after we had finish we was arranging to put down a tip and my family all went for a toilet/ fag break. And I was alone on the table. When Mikey approached he started to clear the deserts from the table, I even helped him! Which I really shouldn’t have! He firstly asked me where everyone had gone, then he aggressively started to raise he’s voice and accused me and my family of threading the manager? There was a joke made previously that night, as my mum can firey, “where’s mum gone I bet she’s gone to beat up the cook” then we all said “ can you moan after when you’re home as we don’t want spit in our food” it was just a private banter. If anything we was offending my mum not anyone else. But Mikey told me that he’s going to report us for threading behaviour and will get us banned. It’s not even what he said it’s how he said it. I then sat back and it clocked. Mikey had heard only part of the conversation. I then decided to approach him the way he approached me, and I told him he got the wrong end of the stick. We’ve been coming for years! Why would we want to be banned?!? So I got the manager and explained to her. Not only was he rude he only approached me because I was alone and I strongly believed it was because I am a female. Because when my brother came over when I was talking to Mikey he went quite quickly! I will not be treated like a dirt. We did nothing wrong! I am still in shock! He shouldn’t have ever listened in on our private conversation and quite frankly he had put myself and my family from returning! Man shouldn’t be in customer service that is for sure!

Came today for breakfast , precooked for a large group of 50 of us . Manager Thomas had it all in hand and sorted for us . With extra juices and pastries etc to ease the congestion . Everyone enjoyed very much . Great value for money . Will look to book more here in future .

We came here as a large group for a Christmas meal. We were so well looked after. The food was great and all the food came out at the same time which was not an easy feat! Thank you so much!

When useing voucher here I wasn't told about useing it for deserts and mains as I used it for mains then went up after and had to pay full price for dessert as I already used it for mains so leave the tab open I wasn't asked if we was having desserts so was gutted to pay full price instead of getting discount

Absolutely terrible service. Never ever had such disgusting food. I actually asked the waitress if she had cooked the food 😐 The chips were so over cooked. I was told my garlic bread had fallen on the floor. And cook another piece. Never did get it. Wasn't busy at all a miserable waitress with arm in plaster clearly must of been in pain or that's what her face looked like. Think before you eat in here GONE DOWN HILL

Worst so called Resturant I have EVER had the displeasure to visit. I had Prebooked for a Party of 8, arrived early about 30 mins before and spoke with a male member of staff who seemed friendly enough. The place was worn, dated and just grubby. the table we had was sticky. well we were here now maybe the grub would make the visit worth while. I went to order some drinks whilst the family decided what they would eat, and thats when I meet the most misrable Manageress in the resturant world. I ordered the drinks and then asked them to be added to the final Bill, she stated that I had to pay for them now, but spoke to me as if I was dirt on her shoes, I stated that we were eating here and that I would pay at the end of the meal, she Said that I had to pay as I ordered as they do not do tabs anymore???????? Her attitude/customer service skills was non excistent, Infact it was so BAD I decided to to walk out the resturant, Birthday Party with me, I was'nt going to spend my hard earned Cash in a Place that does not value its customers. so I left, Family in tow.

Honestly the worst brewers fayre, it’s dirty, staff are unfriendly especially the old blonde woman on the bar. No thank you, no nothing! Barely any drinks available, always food out of stock. We only come here for the soft play, ended up spending £60 for 1 adult and 3 children! Joke of a place, save your money and go McDonald’s next door.

SHOCKING. Queue to order took 15 minutes. Machine for coffee tea sloppy and without milk . Table was sticky and wobbled so we had to place a wedge underneath leg.then i noticed everything on the carpet, dried food, peas,chips, and even a piece of pudding. Put us all wondering if the place was that dirty…then we noticed the radiator .SO MARKED WITH WHO KNOWS WHAT .BROWN MUCK splashed ALL OVER IT. Then the meal.the steak was cooked as ordered. BUT,that was all we could say. One waited for so long for smothered chicken most had finished their meals. That was a disaster ,bacon raw,chips over cooked.we left and will never return.

So after paying £9.99 and not being offered a receipt (hence no receipt number) I found a seat and went to get a latte but the machine wasn't working. So it was instant only. I then proceeded to get a hot cooked breakfast. All items on the plate were cold. The serving dishes were in need of replacing as lids broken. How do you expect customers to lift the lids off without a handle? Oh yeah make the food in them cold. Really disappointed with the food, the chef couldn't give a dam as he was busy flooding the kitchen as I heard him and the staff laughing about it. Very poor performance, I shall not be eating here again

Stayed at the Premier Inn, so went for breakfast. Reasonable value for money, food was of a good variety, running a bit low on some items at 1030, breakfast runs until 1100. Place is dated, not particularly clean. Table sticky. Coffee machine faulty, towels all over the floor underneath it. Staff member who we paid, looked miserable and disinterested. Other staff polite and friendly.

Buffet breakfast review. This venue is an average space for food. Nothing special. However is brilliant value for money. We are repeat customers due to the play area for our kids. However in all honesty the food is hit and miss. I would say we have attended roughly 10 times. It caters for large groups and has free parking if you put in your registration at the front desk. It’s sad that the food is hit and miss. Sometimes burnt or stale. I would suggest waiting to eat if it isn’t stocked up or asking. They only provide soy milk as an alternative. They do not provide any other non diary products. Which reduces the food variety. Very little gluten free options. The decor is dated and well worn. Our tables are always wiped down. However I have noticed a lack of attention to detail. Stains on the wall, dust in the play area. It’s a means to an end. However in all honesty if we didn’t have kids we wouldn’t come back.

So understaffed they are running reduced hours, and a parent there is no chef in the kitchen. Food yesterday was great, but day two my garlic mushrooms to an age to come and no wonder.... burnt... Kept the bbq sauce for the next course just in case.... Whitbread can do better than this and it's a shame....

They only score 1 because you can’t score negative. The staff are absolutely atrocious; no people skills what so ever, rude and obnoxious. They can’t be bothered to be there, we all left disgusted

Absolutely disgusting service was awful. Food was just as bad inside filthy sat outside rubbish everywhere fag butts everywhere bottles leaflets just overall absolutely filthy. The only reason I went in there is because I was staying at the premier inn know for next time not to go.

I came here with my partner the other Sunday. He ordered the mix grill, I ordered the cobb salad with cheese. After a long wait, our meals arrived. My salad arrived ,just lettuce , cucumber one tomato half and the thinnest time pieces of cheese, almost translucent. I complained to the server, who took my salad away. He returned a few minutes later , saying the kitchen wouldn't allow more cheese. I took my salad to the bar, and complained about the measly portion of cheese, lack of avocado and croutons. I was told the kitchen had run out of avocado and croutons . If I had known this, I would have ordered something else. I was told I could order something else. I ordered a jacket potato with coleslaw, which costs less than the salad. By the time if arrived my bf had finished his meal. I emailed head office. Was offered an apology. Really not good enough .I've been coming to brewer's fayre for years asslways good prices for a decent meal. I foubt I'll be returning anytime soon

The tables were sticky to touch, one of the waitresses claimed that people complain about that a lot…would’ve thought they would’ve done something about it then??? Ordered food only to be told by a grumpy employee that there would be a long wait for food, at least 45 mins. No reason given. The restaurant wasn’t busy in the slightest. Mains arrived after nearly an hour wait. We ordered dessert at the same time as ordering our mains so we weren’t expecting to have to wait so long again for it however…45 mins pass and no dessert (which has already been paid for). Despite several times asking staff how much longer dessert would be we were simply told each time that they’ll ‘find out’ yet it didn’t seem to change anything. Ultimately we got up and left without ever receiving our desserts which had already been paid for. Shocking venue. Not the first time I’ve been there and it’s felt unclean. Staff are either grumpy and condescending or nice but have no idea what is going on… Better off going to McDonald’s over the road where you don’t have to wait over 45 minutes for an ice cream sundae.
