Costa Coffee Guildford Train Station in Guildford

I just pop in for 2 coffees and a porridge and the lady with red hair has been very rude. She put cold milk in my porridge after I specified at the till that i want hot milk. She express her frustration after i confront her saying that i should ask for hot milk next time twice.

Why is there ALWAYS items missing whenever I make an order?? I’ve never received a full order from Costa! They always miss items! Tf?? Pay attention??

Amazing service. The lady and gent that serves me were smiley and friendly. I asked for a twist ro my drink and the man who made it went above and beyond ro accommodate me. I was really happy with my drink and with the service! Great experience and I will definitely be coming here in future for my peach ice tea! Better than Starbucks :)

Regular visitor. Current staff are fabulous. Which means service is quick and friendly. What's not to like?

My encounters with the staff here have been good, they are always friendly & helpful at giving recommendations. Service is a bit slow in comparison to other station Costas I’ve visited, employee was being trained whilst I was waiting to be served surely they should put a third person on shift to aid but the coffee was nice!

I was served by a new manager called Chris. This man is an utter disgrace to this establishment. He was rude to me as well as his staff. Chris' approach is not only discourteous but also unprofessional, demonstrating a lack of suitability for a managerial role. My coffee was great as usual before my train, but I will not be returning to this cafe until this person is removed.

The manager was completely awful and disregarded everything I said whilst the colleagues who were serving me were wonderful.

The manager was hostile and I felt extremely rushed. The woman serving me was extremely nice and apologised for her managers behaviour. I believe her name was Alci. I won't be returning to this location due to the managers attitude and rudeness.

Toastie was not toasted properly and the flat white had no flavour. Worst I have ever tasted. Service lackluster.

I'm having coffee and across from me manager and a minute taker are having official meeting with member of staff who is receiving a warning which will be kept on his file for 6 months. It will not be a disciplinary this time. I don't understand this company and how can they conduct those meetings in public!!!

4 pm on a Saturday afternoon and no ice anymore, they made the iced latte without ice which I though would be ok, the milk was actually a bit warm and made me sick. Also, customers should not get charged the full amount for not having the exact drink (with ice), + no almond milk. I got disappointed with my drink, it went straight to the bin.

They must change their opening timings bkz only its showing that 5am its open but actually its not.

Costa might want to change your opening times online it says you open at 6am when in fact you open at 7am on Saturday. Line of people waiting at 6.40 wanting coffee and you lost our business.

They haven't had oat milk for several weeks. Who doesn't have it nowadays?!

This is a good place for a quick coffee and snacks while at the train station. Quite useful to know.

We were cold and miserable so Costa Coffee at Gildford Station was welcome respite.

Costa has been my favourite coffee shop for many years, and the nature of my job means I visit different Shops regularly. Just lately it’s been terrible, it’s either no staff so paper cups only, low stock for lunches, Yesterday it was shut in Guildford for deep clean, today it’s take away only as staff have Covid apparently. Shutting at 2m. And several orders wrong due to staff not listening. Come on Costa what’s happening

Clueless youngsters making coffees, really not knowing what they are doing. Awful coffee avoid, it’s really not worth £3.50!

Friendly staff, well made drinks, tasty food

Just wanted a top up of hot water from my coffee as it had gone cold and bear in mind I have a reusable COSTA coffee cup, so I'm promoting Costa wherever I go, I was refused and told this is from head office

Costa in general has been declining over the last few years (in terms of the quality of coffee ((has the blend changed - all I can taste is cheap robusta?!?)) and food ((nothing is fresh and it all tastes synthetic)) ), however this particular Costa at Guildford Station is truely the pits. Customers are just generally made to feel a nuisance, and not welcome at all. The main shutter door is shut most of the time, unless you know about the side door you would think it was closed. Most of the time they now cordon off the seats at the back by the toilet (they never used to do this, but is something they've carried on since the pandemic). Very occasionally they open this up. The seating elsewhere in this cafe isn't great either, there has been nothing done to make this a cozy and comfortable cafe to sit in. The staff are poorly trained, they forget requests for milk with coffee, then think the solution is to pour some coffee away to make room for milk therefore diluting the coffee (not good enough when you are buying an expensive coffee). The staff generally have a bit of an attitude. On one occasion they shut 15 minutes before before their closing time , and the staff member at the door who let me in threw her keys on the floor in a tantrum along with dirty looks in my direction. The food fridge has been out of action for a long time now. I really struggle to think of a positive. When the station rebuild is complete and there are other options, unless this Costa dramatically improves I stop frequenting this place. As it is I go less often now, preferring if I have time to swing by mcd in town or a cafe at another station on the network.

Guildford railway station Costa Coffee, it seemed appropriate to visit for refreshing coffees after the rail engineering diversions and whilst waiting for the airport bus. But the Americanos turned out to be quite translucent in appearance and weak to being only having the vague flavour of Coffee. Probably the 2nd or 3rd rinse of the Coffee grounds by the inexperienced staff. The small circular table had a wobble in any direction not capable to correct with insertion of temporary paper wedge at the floor level. Perhaps some quick thinking manager could bring the services of a carpenter to fix the table wobbles during out of serving hours. But the real aspect for improvement is to have a Real Coffee as I remember from the Costa Coffee shops of long ago circa 2019/early 2020

I’ve visited the Costa in the train station 5-6 times when my trains are delayed/ cancelled. Staff is always on their phones/talking absolutely ignoring the customers. Getting orders wrong and making customers feel awkward. Wouldnt recommend unless you really need it

Come here every morning for a caramel oat latte before heading to work. Everyone who serves you is always friendly and very polite. Would 100% recommend 👌

I come here in the morning before work and the staff never fail me. The atmosphere is friendly and they always serve a good cup of coffee as quickly as they can, even when the demand is high.

I have asked for an Hazelnut Almond Coconut Latte Plus(protein), took ages to make it,I was almost missing my train and the drink tasted of just hot water....please can someone replaces the baristas over there? Many thanks

I'm being generous giving them 2 stars due to the guy's communication customer service was good, but the other stuff I'd give zero stars for. It's not cheap at Costa and I've spent a lot of money in various Costa branches over the past few months, if they don't do your food right it's very inconvenient. Went in there at about half 3 in the afternoon yesterday and he specifically asked me what sauce I wanted for my bap (Ketchup or Brown) I said Ketchup please and he gives me nothing?? Even brown sauce would've been better than tasting nothing. Even worse, a lot of the bacon was completely burnt as in black. I didn't look at any of this until I was on the train so it was £3.25 of the £10 I'd spent wasted. Do I really have to check these basic things in future before I leave the shop? I thought my previous Costa experience the day earlier wasn't great but at least that time I got my food. This time I paid £3.25 for a small bit of bread! The whole point of the purchase was because I had about 10 mins to buy some food for my long train journey. I hadn't eaten since the morning something really small as I was busy, then before I needed to take this long train journey back home I needed something big to eat as I hadn't eaten in so long and something to also last me until the next few hours later when I got another chance to eat. Hence buying a toastie and a drink as well but I was charged for a bap which was just bread so I had to just make do with 2 of the 3 things I paid for.

The staff at this branch seem to be unable to understand the difference between a black and a white coffee. It doesn't matter if I order through the app or order verbally, they somehow always get my order wrong. For context I only ever order a black americano. Not difficult to get right.

Nice and easy, always friendly staff. It's a great place to stop off if you are just waiting for a train or waiting for someone. Toilets are nicer than the ones on the platform too, so a good idea to go there instead...

Great experience I really enjoyed my xmas spicy cappuccino. The young man serving was wonderful suggesting the xmas tea which my son thoroughly enjoyed.

Terrible service, and really dirty. I ordered the Frostino (first time) as they had the poster up of the new Irish Velvet Range - on the poster the Frostino has chocolate sauce and whipped cream. What I got looked nothing like the picture. When I asked about it, he threw his hands up saying "I don't know, I didn't make it, I think we're out of whipped cream." Then he mockingly offered star shaped sprinkles. When I asked about the chocolate sauce, he said "I suppose I could put some around the rim if you like." At that point, I just wanted to leave, but I had time to kill waiting for my train. He offered a free drink and brought some tarts to my table - too little too late. I tried some of the Frostino, but it tasted like it was literally just ice and syrup. The service at this particular Costa has always been inconsistent, but this experience has been the most disappointing. Never going to any Costa Coffee shops ever again.

Inept staff. Slow. Decaying fruit on show. Toilets hadn't seen a clean in a while. Broken toilet seat. Full bin. Rubbish strewn about in there. Really should focus... generally poor... give it a miss . There are other coffee shops

My colleague and I had a plan to get up extra early and come to the Costa at Guildford Train station for breakfast and coffee. I had accumulated points on my Costa app and when we arrived we were given a price of £13.40. Once the staff realised we were paying with the app the price increased to £16.00. We found this very disappointing and not the experience we had hoped for from Costa.

The staff were fantastic and friendly, however the music was far too loud for a coffee shop. Anyone wanting to do some work or studying is going to have a hard time concentrating. Toilet could do with more regular cleaning throughout the day and toilet paper. Otherwise a good place to stop for a quick coffee.

Clean friendly staff w&rich stocks all their delicious goodies. a nice place to have a cuppa before or after a long train journey or just to pickup a cuppa on the go!!!

FSA rating 4/5 as of 04/05/2018 so sadly can't give 5 stars even though I'd like to. Staff are great and easy on the eyes. This Costa made me fall in love with the hot chocolate with cream, marshmallows and sprinkles that you need on a cold day when waiting for your delayed train. The ham and cheese toasties and delicious but very hot.

Always busy but also really quick to be served. Staff are always cheery making the wait easy to digest. Ive always been happy visiting this Costa.

Costa need to review there staff training in this branch. I was in line to be served next when 3 staff pointedly ignored me and joked among them selves and loaded pastries onto the shelves. Basically anything other than serving. CUSTOMERS come first! All I wanted was a quick cup of tea. After several attempts to get there attention I was acknowledged with the quip I’ll make it in a minute. I insisted now as I had a train to catch. This worked but only after a joke at my expense. Costa need a senior manager at this branch to get these people into action.

I am not sure that Costa will ever be able to solve the problem of employing millennials. A good example has been a recent visit to Costa at Guildford station. I ordered a toasted cheese and tomato sandwich and a latte to go for my daughter. I received my sandwich to go but then observed the staff serving other customers and discuss their personal lives with group hugs for each other and laughing and joking whilst ignoring the fact that I was hanging around at the counter clearly expecting more (my missing latte) but being pointedly ignored. Eventually I went and asked about the missing latte. The server was clear 'Oh i'm so sorry I didn't hear you order the Latte and didn't charge you so you need to pay again. I paid again for a latte. I then enquired if the sandwich really cost the £6 something I had paid earlier? The server then looked back through his till history and realised that he was wrong and that he had charged me twice for the Latte (despite having been so adamant that I needed to pay again earlier) He offered a rebate but I am so fed up with appalling service and attention to detail by Costa staff that I refused on principle because in my mind I would not be able to complain if I accepted the refund. Avois buying anything from this awful outlet staffed by people who simply don't care and who would prefer (judging by there general demeanour) to be working anywhere else other than at Costa. What is really, really interesting is that there is no way (by email or phone) that one can complain directly to Costa (or Whitbread) which says it all about their attitude to customers and customer service. There are SO MANY places offering vastly superior coffee and vastly superior service. Avoid Costa.

Although the coffee and snacks served at this branch of Costa are up to their usual standard, it is not my favourite branch. The premises are badly laid out, which means that the customers mill around trying to get served and then collect their orders. Also because it is attached to the railway station entrance, the door remains open all the time, making the premises extremely cold and draughty during the winter months.

Really good service and do a change the shop is laid out so that the queue doesn't stop you actually getting your drink. Just a shame the staff were so unwashed and scruffy looking

Thought I'd get a Vanilla Iced Latte quickly before I caught my train, wasn't aware that there was someone new making it so had to ask for assistance (which is fine) however my latte was far too strong and sadly lacked the vanilla and any sweetness at all, went straight in the bin. Couldnt go back to complain as had to board train

Friendly staff, with fantastic coffee of your choice.

Quick service, and helpful staff.

Usual range of Costa products with a good sized seating area, with more hiding round the corner. There's not normally a big queue so you usually get served fairly quickly, handy if you're jumping on a train. Staff are friendly and happy to recommend if you're stuck on what to get.

I thought it was a bit below the usual standard of a Costa. Perhaps because it was a hot day or the location at the station meant that people were in a hurry. They seemed understaffed and had run out of things such as bottles of water. The place was not as clean as I would have expected, especially the toilet and the design of the place means that there are a lot of high tables and seats. Still, it is a convenient location if you are travelling by train and it still serves good food and drink.
