The Row Barge in Guildford

This place has turned itself around with the new management. Great vibe, friendly staff, live music and DJ's every week. Absolute sun-trap of a beer garden next to the river in the summer and a roaring fireplace in the winter. It's not my local but well worth the trip out of town.

Love coming to this pub now that Hailey took over. Really nice atmosphere where everyone is welcome and the location by the river is lovely! Went tonight to play some darts and pool, had a lovely conversation with some fellow locals and had a good chin wag with the land lady! Wonderful management. They have absolutely turned the whole place around in the time they have been here. The staff are courteous and caring. Big shout out to Joeli-May and Daisy for their laughter and hospitality

I’ve been here many times now and I have to say the atmosphere and service is second to none. Me and some friends came here for food and it was spot on! We couldn’t fault it. Will be definitely going back! 10/10

Fantastic local pub and venue. There’s events on throughout the week and at weekends, great friendly staff and in the summer the location is beautiful by the river. The Rowbarge is at the heart of the community now and there’s no place I’d rather spend a night out with friends than in here. Thank you Hayley and team for bringing such a vibe to Guildford!

The food was shocking and over priced. The burger was a pressed down meatball. The slow cooked lamb pasta was chewy and all you could taste was chilli . The steak was like a bit of leather. We shall never go back. First and last time of eating in this place. We are disgusted. The only good thing was our server Lizzie. She was amazing

So tonight is our new landlady’s birthday of turning this place around. With showing our community a great place to come and celebrate many occasions. Music with open mic that encourages out local folk to come and express their musical talents. With a great children’s play area which helps parents have a chance to sit with the kids by the river. The fireworks display which was so full of laughter. As a council pub that’s enjoyed and appreciated by our locals Hayley has really turned this pub around. It’s a great place we all share and happy to call ourselves a great family with us locals. She’s an absolute star and deserves a medal for how she has cared so much. Our community needed someone like Hayley. She’s an amazing landlady and definitely turned the barge into one of the best social places to visit in Guildford. 👍

Have been a few times now having moved from London, this is our local pub and I have to say that DAVE and colleagues have done nothing but made us feel really welcome. We will be going a lot more regularly as the pub has a great atmosphere mainly due to the staff being so hospitable. Thanks all and see you soon! X

Listen. The good points were great location. Barman was friendly. What I thought was disgusting was paying £2.95 for a soda and lime. Water is free. I git informed I got charged £2.95 for a little bit of lime cordial. He said the manager said charge the same as lemonade!! My local pub charges 15p. They couldn't believe I was charged that much. An absolute rip-off.

No frills, limited selections, not exactly focused on service.

Lovely location for a pub, fab views and lots of outside seating. Staff friendly. Visited May 2024 Shame food (2 pies) were burnt (no discount offered). Lady did offer to reheat them but we didn't have another 20 minutes to wait as it was our lunchtime.

Haley is a star! This is one of the nicest places ive been to! The friendly atmosphere and the spectacular location is brilliant place to hangout with friends and family!

Not entirely welcoming and not that well layed out. Had a pint of shere drop which was pretty poor and cost £5.80 which is crazy. Not sure on food as didn't have any but probably won't be coming back

The new owners have given the Rowbarge a new lust for life. Music has come back every Saturday and there’s something happening on most days. Definitely worth checking out. Oh and there’s a bouncy castle too

A hidden gem Quiet and hidden away next to the river, if you looking for a drink, this is definitely worth consideration. Speaking with the new owners, the new kitchen will be up and running next week so I cannot comment on the food, however the service, ambience, and a bounce castle in the garden for the children were all winners.

Very nice pub on the river side. The staff is quite friendly and they even crack a joke here there. They occasionally have guests around for various events. They've also got two tables under cover that have outdoor heaters available. May 2024 update: They've put a children play area and loads of other tables and seating. A bbq was on on Saturday too. Just as always. Very clean. Food-wise there a Champion House outside that does rather delicious food.

Set right on the river, the location of this pub couldn’t be more perfect! The owners/managers kindly let a few of us launch our paddle boards from the pub, and upon our return we sat by the river with a pie and a pint. Perfect afternoon ✔️ Great prices ✔️ Kind and accommodating managers ✔️ Thank you so much, I’ll be back soon.

Lovely, pop absolutely huge though. Are you for two floors? I believe but definitely worth a visit if you’re ever in Guildford the food is absolutely delicious. It seems like a very friendly pub where you can just get together

That’s more like a no thrills pub which has a very pleasant beer garden next to the river. However, I wouldn’t really stay inside as it is fairly basic. Friendly staff, charging issue was solved quickly - I had to point out though that I was overcharged; staff noticed earlier than me but did nothing to notify me. Will give the benefit of the doubt and come back in summer; it’s not a place for a romantic first date though.

Enjoyed the Kane fm day/night here was good fun, great vibe and friendly atmosphere, love that it’s by the river wey with boats going past. Inside the pub is a little tired and dated but I guess like most pubs these days. Didn’t try the food but will next time

Found this pub after a walk with my friends dogs and stopped for a drink and totally love it the manger was very friendly and helpful. Will go again

The food is excellent as its served by an independent seller in the carpark. The new bar manager chris is sarcastic, abrupt,rude and moody. To tell me that the rear bar is not a bar. There are no signs to indicate this. The previous bar manager George was always happy to serve at the rear bar. Chris told me if I wanted to be served I should walk to the front bar to get my drink. He says he doesn't like being interrupted when he's having a conversation and I'm being rude to take him away from his chat to be served. Outside,when he was collecting glasses he waved his hands, swearing and kicked a goose in the river. When a customer raised concern he was told to do one if he didn't like it. I've been playing pool nearly every Wednesday night for 8 months as its not busy. But, I will take my hard earned money else where!

Needs refurbishment desperately and change the music,too loud with much effing and jeffing doesn't make it a pleasant place for a quiet drink by the river. This could be an amazing pub in a fantastic location, but at the moment, it's a scruffy rundown boozer with so much potential.

The open mic night here is great; one of my favourite evenings in Guildford. It gets busy if you are wanting to play so make sure you get down early to sign up.

Beautiful pub by the canals ! The staff were so friendly and really welcoming ! We’re from out of town and decided to pitch up and quench our thirst , good prices for their pints 🍻 and chasers ! We had our dog with us too and this is definitely a dog friendly pub ! Definitely recommend visiting , we sat out side in the sun and enjoyed the view and the passer bud on their boats who were also very welcoming and friendly ! What’s a great place to visit ! A MUST VISIT PUB !

Great location, atmosphere and range of drinks. Had a Caribbean food van in the grounds serving food when we visited, which was a great idea. Good staff and service, so would recommend this place if you're in the area.

This place is a lovely location, has a car park, pool tables, darts , sky sports. This place has everything but customers.? Very strange.

We normally go to this pub every Wednesday and the staffs are friendly and it's clean and homely environment to enjoy our night.

Spurred on by some local press we dropped in for a pint, VERY busy for a Tuesday, live music on the stage and staff working hard. Very large selection of beers on tap, but Cornish Rattler in fridge, so sold... Fast, efficient, friendly service on a busy night, we didn't eat there, but a bar snack menu appeared to be flying out over the evening and looked good. We will definately be back to this Riverside, very traditional pub!

Visited very recently with a large family group. Tasty, light lunch (sandwiches, panini a, chips) the lovely bar staff even gave us a couple of portions of chips free of charge! Lovely tranquil spot with the river adjacent to the pub garden. Clean bright facilities and good parking too.

If your looking for something modern and full of fancy drinks then you at the wrong place But if you want a proper, genuine, traditional pub experience then look no further!!! It’s the pubiest pub you will ever visit. Good selection of draught’s , some bottles , spirits and wine selection is red or white. Doing a good job being a traditional pub keep it up

Service was good but food not so. Ordered a chicken, bacon and avocado salad which arrived with no dressing or vinaigrette (nearly 16 pound) had to ask for dressing and mayo and balsamic (to which they bought over malt vinegar) Hardly any avocado in it and very few bits of bacon. In my opinion going out should be special because you expect the food to be better than if you cooked it yourself. In this case I ended up being charged 16 quid for something I could have made at home and probably do a better job.

Open Mike at the Row Barge on Tuesday night was a hoot. Very relaxed and some good music.

This pub has a very pleasant location, situated beside a canal, with plenty of boats, kayaks, etc, so lots of passing interest. The exterior area is nice in the sunshine, and there was a good choice of beers and shorts. There is a new covered area outdoors, i guess that is essential in current times. The tables look a bit scruffy, and could do with some painting and tlc. None of the parasol umbrellas seemed to fit or provide shade. Also the staff did not seem interested in collecting glasses, which were piling up. Not a great look. A small point i know, but as the 2 bar staff seemed bored with nothing to do, it might have been an idea to do some tidying.

Staying in the Premier Inn hotel round the corner whilst working in Guildford on my own. I decided to go to the Rowbarge pub for a few beers but was astounded when I ordered a Pravha Lager and was charged £5.90p. I was even further pissed off when they told me that they were closing in 5mins. I said why are you closing so early at 21:30, and their response was because we are not busy. I replied with maybe if you lower the prices of your drinks then maybe people would frequent the place and you would sell more and make a better profit. And the reason for the title is because it’s a sh@t hole inside as well. Fixtures and furnishings are way outdated and nothing matched it looks like everything was purchased off Steptoe and Son ffs.

Very nice location close to the river. Friendly stuff. Average offer of beers but not average prices. A bit too expensive.

It's got a very nice canalside area, great for a stop off on a boat, but the temporary(?) food van let's them down. Abrupt and rude simply for asking if they had vinegar for chips (no, was the eventual answer)

Went here for a quick stop, food was from an outside food truck which was weird, but what they served was super unique and we all got something different. Really happy with the loaded chips, was expensive but left feeling full and otherwise happy. Great views over the river

A missed chance by management here. A great site on the Wey navigation, unfortunately they don't take advantage. Their food is provided by a catering van in the car park and included snacks that none of us had heard of 3 of our group ordered over £30 worth of food and left about 25 quids worth. Sorry but we won't be going back.

Great pub by the River Wey. The staff are friendly and you get a meal from the outside kitchen. Open mic on a Tuesday is a must one of the best I have been to.

Lovely friendly pub overlooking the river. Great hot snacks and fine beers - marvellous after kayaking on the Wey Navigation. Easy access to the water from the beer garden and paddlers welcome. Perfect for some refreshments with a friendly welcome from the staff.

Standard pub on the side on the Wey. Perfect for a drink....was enjoying an evening playing pool with a friend and that was perfect for that....do not expect a very sophisticated place.

A cheerful landlord served us drinks and crisps half way along our canal-side walk and we sat outside on the benches to enjoy the afternoon sunshine.

Fairly basic canalside pub. Decent range of beers. Good for lunch. The ham egg and chips was filling and tasty Unpretentious and good value. Plenty of outdoor tables too.
