This place was recommended to me who said the food is great? I went for Sunday lunch with 2 friends. 24/11.24 sadly I can’t say we had the best experience. We were shown to our table by a vey nice gentleman and the atmosphere was good. The waitress came and said which roast would you like? Who said I wanted a roast? We were not offered a menu? 2roast pork and a roast beef, the beef was chewy and and the pork not a lot better. The plate was cold therefore the food was warm at best and a lot of it was almost cold, the Yorkshire pudding was soggy and difficult to cut. All in all a very disappointing experience. Would have happily have spent more if the food had not been so poor

Lovely Sunday Roast here today. Two kids portions and two Adults. Everything really lovely. So often the potatoes and parsnips are under par with a pub roast. Not here. They were spot on, lovely and crispy and generous portions. Yorkshire puddings are home made, large and cooked very well. The Bar staff are great and the main thumbs up is the price. £65.00 for our meals and drinks which were 3 pints of diet pepsi and half a Guiness. Really good to know that you can still go out for Sunday dinner near Guildford for under £120 for a family of 4. Not so keen on the TV's showing sport however they are unobtrusive and quiet for those that want to stare at a TV over lunch. Not for us but that's just personal opinion. In summary a really lovely 1.5 hours here today and we'll be visiting you again. Thank you.

Incredible pub. Been a couple of times. Roast dinner amazing. Great value at £14.95 too. Kitchen hours now extended apparently so food into the evening. New owners are making slow changes. So far so good. Prices some of the lowest in the area. Very competitive.

A warm welcome from Adam who has just taken over. A good selection of both alcoholic and soft drinks are on offer. Chucky the Chef cooks amazing food and will come out to see diners personally to check everything is good. They have a large garden with plenty of seating ideal for watching the sun go down with friends and family. A excellent venue for family and friends with plenty of parking.

This is close to us and thought as under new management would try to support as need good pubs. There is no atmosphere and place feels drab to be honest but we stuck with it. Pint was appalling poured with a two inch head which was handed over. Was redone but bar lady did not know how and got help from Landlord. Had roast dinner but it was worse than school dinners. Meat was cheap and fatty, food all very basic. We left all uneaten and went elsewhere to get good food as not worth eating a bad meal. Shame as had high hopes but be amazed if survives.

Friendly pub with a great garden area with lots of seating and tables, lovely spot for families. Food was very good and they serve a variety with main meals and light snacks. Prices are normal for nowadays. The barman was very welcoming and helpful. I think the pub was quiet at the time because of Guilfest which was on for the whole weekend. I would definitely recommend a stop here and we will be returning.

Stopped off for a bit of lunch on Friday the 18th at about 3pm. Barman informed us that the kitchen had just closed but at that point the chef was walking out and said “no worries I can knock you something up” we ordered food and a couple drinks, food came quickly, was great and the barman was absolutely top draw. Couldn’t do enough for us, really friendly, and just made it so pleasant! I’d never normally write a review after a bit of lunch but on this occasion, I had to! My only disappointment was that I didn’t have any cash to bung him a bit of a tip! Thanks and will definitely be returning soon 😊

What attracted me initially is the fact it's local and has a reasonable price list. The fact it has a beautiful garden with things to keep young kids happy playing is just an added bonus. However, there were a few things missing from the menu. A couple of us ordered prawn sandwiches with chunky chips, but our only complaint was the bread didn't taste very fresh and was so thin. Some chunky bread would have been great. The kids burger didn't look great (very thin and possibly of frozen sort?), whereas the main burger (adults), looked incredible! Hard to say on atmos as there were very few people around. I guess that made it nicer in a way 😀. I would return, but not sure I'd order food atm

A week before Xmas I asked if they could possibly fit my family in for Xmas lunch (2adults 3kids) and they were stretched but agreed which was a huge relief for us! Well a couple of days later we added another adult and then another day later we asked to add another adult and her 2 kids, and they still accommodated us. 1 child is autistic and would only eat nuggets and chips… that was not a problem and I was recovering from surgery and could only eat soup/pursed food so I explained to them I wouldn’t be having the 5 courses and they were understanding, but not only that, the chef contacted me and asked if I would like a different soup making or could she do anything else to help as it was Xmas…. Well I said a turkey dinner puréed would be nice but I knew she would be busy so didn’t expect it. Well she did do it and it was amazing! And gave me a couple of extra portions to take home!! The day was lovely, the food was amazing, the staff were all really nice and helpful and chatty. We all had a good day after the few weeks before we were all worried about the day and not feeling festive but these guys saved my family and my sister and my friends families Xmas!!

Looking forward to a lunchtime beer on Christmas Eve only to be told that as they had not ordered beer in time there was no draught beer at all. They could only offer bottled beer. What's more they weren't expecting a beer delivery for another five days. How can a pub expect to survive if it doesn't have any draught beer over the whole of the Christmas holiday period.

Went for lunch on a Saturday. Easy to get to from Guildford by car, good car park. Staff pleasant and helpful. Menu limited, and what we had was of only average quality. My chicken and leek pie was rather soggy and had little discernible meat. Chips good thick cut. Peas (thankfully) just peas - not minted or mushy! Sticky toffee pudding was pleasant and served with plenty of custard. However it was closer to streamed syrup pudding than sticky toffee.

Popped in for food! Was told we can only have the Sunday roast, and was given the menu. First thing we order was soup, out of stock (home made soup)? Out of stock? Next on the menu we read that a generous Sunday roast (meat of choice) as obviously they had no idea what they had left in stock would be accompanied by a Yorkshire pudding (delightful) honey glazed parsnips(didn’t arrive on the plate) and seasoned vegetables, I can only assume came direct from the microwave(had to season myslef)! To top it off they came in three separate pie roasting dishes which was only one short of the 4 overcooked aunty Bessie’s potatoes that arrived that looked like they’d been cooked in dirty oil or four times over! Added to this a family that booked 2 nights ago which also included the meat(so it was pre ordered) was told they have no pork left!! Never go there again! Stay clear

Waited for half hour before we were asked if we wanted food, even though we had booked a table for dinner. Staff behind the bar had no idea of our booking, said we could sit anywhere. The chef was standing at the bar just chatting with the bartender and other customers while we waited, this was at least 15 minutes he was by the bar. When the bartender/waiter did come to our table to ask if we still wanted food (we didn’t) we said no and he just walked off not caring why we no longer wanted to eat. There was no query as to why we didn’t, he didn’t seem to care. He seemed more concerned with having a good time with the chef, who was still at the bar when we left, than serving people who had booked a table to eat dinner. Won’t be returning here and will be telling family and friends of our experience.

Have used the pub for years for the odd family roast dinner or for a meal out with my husband. Food is nice but it’s a treat visiting for meals. Well they did a Reggae Day last weekend and it was fantastic! Music on all day, carrabiane food, rum punch and cocktails and was all decked out looking the part. Kids had the new playarea to play in which I never heard was there and it is really good for the kids. But the atmosphere was great and drinks and food was nice and good money for the good time we had. It felt like the summer is finally coming and was a good day for everyone. We left about 8 but it went on until midnight I think so they really did well. They say they are going to be doing more over the summer and are putting on other stuff too for kids and stuff. We will all be coming back to them and a lot of people I have spoke to say that aswell so I thought I give you a review

Lovely looking pub with a pretty garden i pass by so often but haven’t been in for several years. Family visiting last week and we had an issue with our water supply, so tea and a bite to eat was off the menu. Let’s go try the cricketers, and the seven of us headed straight there. It was very quiet, but it is expected on a dreary January afternoon, the 2nd official working day of a new long and difficult year, festivities are over and normal life resumes again. However, firstly it was lovely and warm and we were all very pleasantly surprised at how clean and fresh and welcoming it was. A recent revamp in whites and greys and a lovely wooden floor have done this place the justice it needed. The back garden was well maintained, very pruned and tidy. There has been a child play area landscaped and wooden play equipment erected which looks very new. I will be back in the kids holidays to make use of the good beer, free WiFi and child activities that look like I’d enjoy 20m alone?? The woman working was lovely, chatty, and efficient/attentive. The chef came out after our dinner and was very pleasant and asked if we enjoyed the food and so forth. We very much did enjoy our meals, but they were huge portions! So lunch Infact was dinner and we unfortunately couldn’t even get a couple of desserts to share! Coffees all round finishing a lovely, unexpected but very pleasant and enjoyable afternoon with family. We shall without a doubt be coming again, with friends, with family, whenever the opportunity is given if I have my way! Very much think you need to shout about your refit, garden, kid’s facilities because I think a lot of people would be more inclined to revisit, but what is unseen is unknown.

Haven't been back since refurb, lovely decor and improved garden, but unfortunately after booking for an early Sunday roast disappointed to find only turkey and bit of gammon was available out of the usual selections. meal was warm at best, a lot of the gammon was left due to not being edible and the roast potatoes were like bullets which were not pleasant and again left, nice vegetable selection, and desserts for the children were enjoyed. Came for quiet drink with my son after a walk today in a pub that I have been going to since I was very young., with my 13 year old. This was once a family pub, it is now a pub full of aggressive punters, who were swearing at volume, making threatening phone calls and letting their kids run riot. In any other pub I expect this would have been dealt with, but here there was one female member of staff to deal with this vile party (amongst others). - bear in mind this was 3.30pm a Friday afternoon. Being intimidated physically was the last straw and I ended my v expensive and frankly off tasting pint and left. Disgrace of a once half decent family pub. Oh, I am not sure the non drug policy is working either. AVOID.

We stayed there on two occasions in carpark in our motorhome, on the first night we have spend £300 , at the end of the night I asked barman if I could charge my battery and he agreed with no hesitation ( at the end of the day we spent a lot of money that night in this establishment). We called back few days later and asked if we could stay, to be told by Kevin that is fine but he didn't appreciate me stealing his electricity and he would like some kind of contribution...now I thought spending 300 pounds was enough of a contribution on a night where there was no one there. Anyway I agreed, but I didn't pay any money for electric as we didn't use none, what we did do we spend there over £600 second time around. Luckily the unpleasant owner was away at the time and all the staff that was working on the night were voicing their opinions on Kevin, nothing nice to say... making his chef work while she had a massive bruise on her head with no time off. Ignoring the poor management, staff seemed to be OK until we called again and wanted to stay with them again and of course spend money at the pub, we were told no from Chucky, the one who was complaining so much about him to us seemed to told him that we called him a greedy sad man. Not too worry I have booked in up the road from cricketers and the pub owners are delighted to have us here with much more pleasant custom and food.

Beautiful and inviting looking pub but thats about it, went in a few weeks ago for an early evening bite to eat, ordered a pint of Tribute which was flat with no head whatsoever, so settled for another ale which quite frankly was no different, a week later we thought we'd give it one more try, the ale was no different, The barman asked if we would be eating and I said well yes but not just yet, but within a few minutes I was asked the same question but again said not at the moment, then less than 2 minutes later asked again by a young lady in a dirty chef white cover by a dirty grey hoodie, to be honest it actually put us both off, they were trying to hard to get us to eat, we didn't feel welcome we actually felt in the way, we left with our really touching our drinks, it's such a shame as this is a beautiful pub, expensive drinks which would be such a problem if the ale was well kept but it really isn't, they had tv's but they were not on

Started coming in here earlier in the year and didn't realise it was such a decent little pub, Decent beers on, Fair priced, Really nice home cooked food too which is also a good price. Quite often go down now, always been made to feel welcome, and the garden is lovely in the sun! That Chucky too, is a right Babe got to love her always having a giggle, has kids following her around mesmerised, giving hugs to the miserable customers. True Beaut right there, she shouldn't be hidden out in the kitchen, she is the best host with the most (oi oi) that I've seen in a pub for donkeys years!

My dad was a regular here, and after suddenly loosing him earlier in the year, the main priority for his send off was a big gathering at his local, with everyone he knew and loved!! Because thats what he would have wanted, well we barely lifted a finger and didnt need too, Chucky took care off everything, and it was perfect. A buffet big enough for 5x the amount of guests, all his favourite foods, the fosters were flowing thick and fast in his honour, but although there was a very large gathering there were no long ques at the bar, the elder guests were all looked after and given the comfy sofas to rest in with endless teas and coffee next to them so they didnt have to struggle to get a drink or move around, the kids who attended (several young grandchildren) were all kept amused and busy at a difficult time by chucky too. She went above and beyond and smashed it.... Kev and Guy were great too! Thank you all so much

Six of us booked to have lunch here on Saturday. As it turned out we didn't really need to book as there was plenty of space available. Friendly staff. Plenty of space. Good service. The food was not spectacular but then we weren't looking for...

Very friendly staff. Sadly the food was poor and of low quality. Not sure there's a proper chef. Pub was cold, tables bear and not at all welcoming.

After reading glowing reviews we decided to go for a Sunday Roast. Very disappointing, beef was tough, roast potatoes hard as bullets, vegetables very poor quality. Will not return.

My friend and I are local, and recently started going to this pub in the last month or so. We have become committed regulars, and I don’t even drink! From the moment we walked in we were welcomed by the landlord, and all his staff are super friendly too. The food is great, the chef really cares about your dining experience and has proven to be very committed to our enjoyment of our food. I have taken another friend and my parents there since and all enjoyed it. There are good choices on the regular menu, as well as a light bites menu. The Christmas menu starts 1/12 but due to our own circumstances chef agreed to allow us to experience the Christmas menu early. Last night we arrived to a reserved table with crisp fresh white linen, a reserved sign, Christmas crackers, a candle and party poppers. My friend had chosen the traditional Christmas turkey meal and I had the cod with prawn sauce. Both meals were mouth wateringly good, so good in fact that we have requested the same experience for next week and chef is happy to oblige. They go out of their way to ensure we are happy and comfortable which is much appreciated. The pub puts on various events like monthly pub quizzes, discos, prosecco nights, and so far we have had such fun there. Tonight is a disco, next Friday is a pub quiz which we are going to participate in, and fast becoming regulars. It isn’t a packed pub, which in Covid times is appreciated, but it has a great atmosphere and a warm welcome is guaranteed. Just felt the need to share my experience as it is such a positive one. I’m not a pub person but I love going to the Cricketers, and look forward to spending a great evening there once a week and any spare time in between eating and chatting, and generally having a great time.

The staff were very friendly and the pub lunch was very nicely presented and the food tasted scrumptious. I had fish and chips and my daughter had a prawn jacket potato. I would definitely go back again to the Cricketers without any hesitation.

Recommended as a good cocktail bar. Cocktail menu on the wall. They don’t serve cocktails on Saturdays. Disappointing

Super kind/friendly/welcoming staff whenever I go in to get a coffee - keeps me returning!

The coffee was good but I had to wait at least 20 mins for it after they had given my latte to someone else. I had to speak to a rather grumpy waiter about three times to get him to eventually bring my latte. When I complained I was told it was my fault as I had moved tables. I had but I was still very close by and only to comply with the cafe's request that our running group should be in a particular area as we also had a walking group with dogs. Watching everyone receive their coffee when these people had ordered theirs a long time after me was not a great experience. I raised the matter in a polite way at the end but nobody was prepared to offer an apology.

We were in Ripley to visit a family member and popped in to the Half Moon for a quick en route. Well priced beer, good environment, and more to the point a proper friendly landlord and landlady. Wish we had a pub like this nearer to where we live, would never be out of the place. Would most certainly return if we were ever to be back in Ripley.

A gentle, warm coffee shop with a relaxed upstairs where you can sit on a settee, r af a book or newspaper and enjoy the coffee and comestibles (gosh, there's a word from the past!). I thoroughly recommend it.
