This was a dump it was dirty and I am surprised that I am not dead I don’t know where it start with this place what a dump!!!!! There was paint on the sofa could not get in my room and there is a sign in the rooms write bad reviews her

If you want a Chernobyl disaster experience, then this is the place for you. If you want to feel like a Chennai and Thailand experience, then don't go there. Better off to Chennai in India.

What more can be said about this place than has already been said a thousand times over. I made a video about the horrors of this place which did surprisingly well, some of the highlights included literal poo on the walls, vomit in the stairwells, and oh so many rusty nails, broken doors, and rubbish absolutely everywhere. As far as I'm aware, the place is closed to the public now, which is probably for the best as only a flamethrower could fix it

Such a lovely place. The staff are so friendly and the atmosphere is great too. Always pop in when we on holiday here. Great entertainment !

I've not been physically, but I floated around on Google Street View and still wanted to die. It's like almost like packing up your entire council estate and bringing it to the beach for a week. Bring weed and vodka though. Not a holiday unless you're completely off your box.

Stay away, to be honest parkdean is better though when it comes to the treatment from staff that was the only thing different the service i was given was way better than parkdean though, when it come to some customers they can be extreamly rude. Food wasnt too bad but could have been presented better but overall not some where id go again,

The engineer came out straight away to fix a window I wasn't able to close. Very prompt. Polite and friendly. Accommodation was clean. I had a great weekend.

Pontins Camber is somewhat outdated unfortunately. May be okay 40 years ago but not what you expect in 2023. Still I will be going back next year as the event is very good. A DANCE weekender! Such fun and great memories. 😊

The chalets are badly, if ever in recent history, been maintained, except to fix obvious leaks and breakdowns. Doors, windows difficult, or impossible, to open/close/lock. Standard of cleanliness is poor, especially the floor. Leaks when it rains and windy, as wind blows water under doors. The structure of chalets are of a very poor quality. However, it is very convenient for Camber beach. There's plenty of parking spaces on the site, which has maintained 24 hour security barriers. Be careful of the pesky seagulls if picnicing on grass areas. Also seagulls have been known to enter accommodations to steal food.

Poor experience but didn't expect a lot. Thought it was illegal to do single occupancy supplement but apparently not.

This place needs to be closed down and refurbished. The rubbish everywhere was disgusting, the paint work on everything needs redoing. Over half the activities were not available and felt cheated.

Family & G/kids had a fantastic time. Well worth a week away. Breakfast is amazing but the evening food is basic & personally overpriced. Stage shows & children's entertainment is wonderful.

Great location with walking distance to beach. Evening entertainment great for kids. Issue with door lock which was resolved within 30mins. Room was clean but the sleep wasn't great. Both sofa bed and single beds uncomfortable. Swimming pool wasn't open so can't comment. We didn't use soft play. The park areas are OK but there is a better park just across the road which my kids preferred.

Not as bad as I thought it would be, only downside not enough place to get a takeaway, breakfast and evening meal set as one price, eat as much as you want, not good for someone who only eats small portion, plus drinks sold in plastic glasses

great holiday with the family! i really enjoyed it staff was lovely and the bluecoats made my week amazing , rooms were fine probably need a new cooker but other than that was okay, entertainment was amazing all week never disappointed, food on camp was lovely and alot of things to do for my sisters inlcuding golf, soft play, colouring and the arcade!, place does need a bit of a clean up and the club needs aircon was dying of heat every night from dancing but the club is great and spacious, beds were comfy and nice to sleep on every night. i went for a week and already want to go back. no shower sadly but atleast we had a bath. security was amazing we had loud music the first 2 nights until 4am and woke us up at 6 eventually they got moved along and kicked out and the rest of the week was fine. kids were loud but wont complain because thats what kids do, overall amazing and cheap get away for the family cant wait to go back next year!

The accommodation was DISGUSTING Windows thick and covered with filth, clearly hadn’t been cleaned in years. My mum actually wrote ‘clean me’ in red lipstick on them! The entire room stank of cigarettes But the actual entertainment bit for kids was good

Pros, beautiful beach, nice family spot getaway. Weather was a bonus, it was sunny. I expected it wasn't going to be 5 star quality, so i wasn't disappointed when we got there, we just bought a load of cleaning products and cleaned beforehand so we could comfortably settle in. We enjoyed ourselveslves and made the most of it. The kids loved soft play and the arcade. There were 15 of us, incl young children. Cons, Place needs cleaning, modernising, better management, better entertainment, and air conditioning. The swimming pool needs to be monitored. Otherwise, the smell of urine overpowers the chlorine.

You 100% get what you pay for here. Good location but very dated no where near enough staff waited for a hour to get a drink in the evening as only 2 staff on! Beds were sooooo uncomfortable the swimming pool smelt like sewage half the things weren't open! Fridge leaked once on no shower only a very dirty bath. Great to be able to walk to such a lovely beach but even that the restaurants near it had seriously gone down hill last time I visited was soo much better. Rake inflatable mattresses if u must stay as ur pretty much camping with the state of the place. We could only really use as a base as nothing was on so a cheap break was pretty expensive in the end as we had to go out most days to entertain the kids.

Great location a short walk to the beach and short drive into beautiful Rye. That's where the positives end. We left on day 2 of 3. Dilapidated dump where half the activities are broken or out of order (questionable mis-selling by Pontins). Pool is disgusting. Never cleaned (we were first in at 10am and there was dirt and hair everywhere and the changing rooms stank of pooh). It's a plain rectangle and the only thing to do, the slide, was obviously out of order. The biggest issue though is the clientele of slovenly chavs and their feral children. Primary school aged kids still running round screaming at 1am. Fat mums lazing around paying no attention to anything but their phones whilst the dads start in the pub from check in to ignore their kids as long as possible. This isn't a holiday park. It's a theme park - theme being Shameless TV show. Every negative from your worst local council estate.

Rooms are real basic and nit cleaned regularly, I came to this conclusion as I was putting 2 single beds together I found a female's vest wedged against the bed and wall. I cleaned my room and the sitting area on my first night there. See the pictures for just how dirty it was. Saying that, I would stay again for the fun things to do, but bring my own bed protectors, coz as I said all was not clean.

Rooms are kinda bad stains all over the wall the hot water doesn't work and we've called to fix it many times but no one has came the beach is good

It's in need of some renovations in many places. Go karts weren't working/damaged. Dino park was also closed during our visit. Pool pumps broke down twice in 4 days which was also disappointing. The pool timetable system is set up in a way that means kids are disappointed all day every day. It's unnecessary. A booking system would work so much better. Rather than having tens of people queue up and miss out continuously. That said, we enjoyed our stay. The staff try hard to please which isn't easy given the environment they work in and the understaffing issues. The entertainment of an evening I thought was good quality. Plus the wrestling was decent too. It is in an amazing location which does help loads. We have visited a few times and do so with low expectations. I do recommend this particular Pontins. But there's definitely room for improvement.

Rooms are basic but we're clean. They had everything we needed tho. The Entertainment was 5star.. The blue coats were amazing this year. We go here every year for the beach across the road and the entertainment in the evenings. This place always gets a bad reputation... But if you're looking foe a great English beach and perfect entertainment in the evenings for all the family. This is the place to be.

Only good thing was the entertainment. Accommodation could be better.

What an awesome experience highly recommended for any family holiday. Special thanks to the Blue Coats and The Croc Crew and all the other entertainers for the 1st class shows, you are a credit to Pontins. We will be back.

Lovely family friendly holiday park. Loads of entertainment for kids and adults. Rooms we got were clean and looked like new bedding and crockery. Central. Staff very helpful if treated with kindness. Very busy, but a great location. Yes we had a few hiccups at the beginning but it was sorted out asap.

Very dated holiday park that needs serious money spending on it. Lots of things hit and miss if working or not ( lift, swimming pool, air con in the upstairs venuel etc. Read the reviews.) The Blue coats entertainment team are brilliant and a credit to Pontins. The Alladin panto was great and also their other contributions are worth watching. The acts brought in, for example Boomin were also brilliant. The Queen Vic shut at 8pm on most nights of our stay, which seems a bit strange as the main venue was so hot, big queues for drinks, and very busy. The can bar was never open either. A fair few other things apparently haven't been "open for years' The arcade was good even though the cash fruit machine section was never open when we were in there. The tickets are pretty generous and a good selection of prizes available, when the prize counter was open, 2 hours in the morning and 2 in the evening even though the arcade was busy at most times. Must admit all staff are generally friendly in the face of all the negativity. We used Pontins as a base and had days out around the coast. Rye Harbour(for crabbing), Rye, Hastings, Eastbourne and Folkestone amongst other places. The beach at Camber Sands was lovely and sandy, unlike other beaches in the area which were pebbles and the sea was quite shallow for quite a distance. Holidays are what you make of it though and we had a good time none the less.

I booked this place really cheap and after I read reviews.... I was pretty scared to go there but tto be fair room was clean and I was positive surprised. Meaby I got lucky with new room. Idk. Place is a 2** hotel so u can't expect much. As a place to sleep and go out for a day it's really good. Beach is really close. A lot of playgrounds for kids. At evening there are some attractions for kids where they can dance and play with animators and other kids. In general I would say that this is a good place for price and for 2 star hotel.

It's not nearly as bad as I expected. The whole park is looking pretty tired, needs a fair bit of investment to bring it up to where it should be but at less then a quarter of the price of anything else we could find I think the offering is fair. The accommodation was clean and everything was in working order, the furniture and the fixtures and fittings were tatty and worn in places but perfectly functional. The one bedroom apartments have a small twin room with a sofa bed in the living room. The biggest problem was that they are all single glazed, so offer almost no sound insulation, if you have noisy neighbours it will impact your stay. The costal location means lots of gulls, and we were frequently woken by the racket they made, I would advise packing some earplugs if you're a light sleeper. The main building again looks tatty and tired but houses a decent enough arcade on the ground floor along with the restaurant, we didn't use the restaurant so can't comment on the food but noticed the queue was always very long so expect to wait if your plan is to eat on site. There are several decent takeaways with 5 minutes walk aswell as a convenience store on site and another across the road. The main entertainment venue is on the 1st floor of the main building and is surprisingly good quality in the context of the rest of the park, it looks like one of the few areas that has seen some recent investment. The blue coats were friendly, entertaining and engaging and the couple of guest acts we saw during our stay were good. It does get really hot up there though. I would advise people avoid using the toilets in the main building, they really were next level disgusting, in fact the entire corridor outside the toilets is best avoided, the smell really is quite pungent. The pool on site was only open for half the week, it opens for 45 minutes slots and is limited to 70 people per session, given the size of the park this means the pool is often oversubscribed so it's advisable to arrive early and queue in advance of your desired time slot. The changing rooms were pretty dirty and had a strong smell of drains but the pool itself was okay. 25m x 10m with some small water slides in the shallow end. The location of the park is what sells it. You are a 2 minute walk from a beautiful beach with rolling sand dunes. It's very clean and well managed, the lifeguards are brilliant, give regular, clear updates on the tides and are very approachable if you need help. The water is very shallow for quite a long way out, and if you stay between the red and yellow flags you know that you're under the watchful eye of the lifeguards. It felt like it would be a very safe place to go with young children. Rye is a short bus ride away and is a beautiful small town with cobbled streets, gorgeous tudor buildings and a small castle. All in all, it's far from perfect, but for what you pay I think you get your moneys worth. If you treat it just as a base and explore the local area you will get a good holiday at an extremely good price.

I came here for a week with my 5 month old twin babies, my 90 year old nan (that uses a wheelchair majority of the time) and more family members. it was awful. the lift hadn’t been working since the minute we got there, kept getting told people would be coming to get it fixed, which wasn’t happening. we had to lug our twin buggy, the wheelchair, and my nan had to walk up the flight of stairs just go to the entertainment. the security just stand there, doesn’t ask if your okay and doesn’t offer to help whatsoever, just stood there gormeless. the lift eventually got fixed, but they were only allowing wheelchair users to access it, no buggies. you pay £10 per person for their ‘all you can eat’ buffet, totally not worth it. by the time you get round to the food there’s barely any food left and the food left is stone cold. also, the menu is never what is actually there. the chalets are grimy and never been cleaned in their life’s. there were tiles hanging off the bathroom walls, about 10 spiders, the floors made yours socks black, barely any cooking facilities, doors didn’t lock so was unsafe at night, the furniture was hanging off the walls. the staff are rude and have no care, swearing at customers and being too lazy to do the job their paid for. the dinosaur land was shut due to damages, so was the soft play. the go karts we’re shut because someone had stolen them. the swimming sessions were limited to 45 mins as understaffed, a lot of times they were closed all together. reception was always closed, staff weren’t helpful at all. the chalet smoke alarms don’t work either, which of course is a safety hazard. rubbish is all over the floor and not getting cleaned. do NOT go here

Didn’t get to have food but it was a great visit, had lots of games and a good selection of drinks. Very family friendly and highly recommended.

Went on Mother’s Day 2022. Place was empty. Ordered 8 roasts. They were horrendous. Meat was very tasteless and low budget. Potatoes were the same. Had one carrot uncut which was too hard and some hard peas and cabbage undercooked and a parsnip and one burnt Yorkshire. It tasted like A rotten school dinner. We told them about it and they said we don’t normally get bad reviews and they weren’t really interested as we had already paid almost £100. When we left she refused to say. Goodbye. We sent a message later and got accused of saying the food was lovely, which was a completely dishonest of them. We had no cutlery and had to ask. Toilets had broken locks and no paper in. Never again and it ruined Mother’s Day.

Had a lovely breakfast at camber castle, food tasted great, service was really good, quick clean and efficient. Very polite young lady on front of house. Will definitely come back again.

Had a meal here today with my family , service was excellent made us feel welcome straight away , we order food at the bar and some drinks , food came out quickly and all together and was lovely , the facility’s were really clean and was well priced, will 100% be coming again

We visited on a weekday evening in August and were the only family in the whole pub which was a little off putting. The staff were friendly and service was good. We were served by a young lad of about 14 who was working very hard. Food was quick and ok. Very upset to get home though and find out we have been fined for parking in their private car park. I couldn’t see a meter and assumed as a patron I wouldn’t have to pay! I’m also disabled so unsure where else I was supposed to park!

Wow fantastic food, good sized dishes come out hot. Service was excellent. Don't be fooled by the outside it might look like social club, but its a pub, not our usual style pub. Please vist this pub, could not fault the food.

Staying at Pontins along the road, found the Camber castle to do a great breakfast for myself and the two kids. Great welcoming service, prices were reasonable for the location. Also if you are visiting Camber, the large car park is only £5 for the whole day as opposed to the beach car park 2 minutes away which is ££. Will use again when next in Camber. 5*

This pub could definitely do with a bit of updating and from the outside doesn't look that good, however you get a very friendly greeting and excellent food. This seems like the only place that you can get decent food in the area if you don't want to book somewhere or have chips. Don't be put off by the look of it - inside reminded me a bit of a 70's works canteen - the food is good and at a reasonable price.

Visited twice as the food was very good - basic food but generous and service was quick . we eat downstairs as the restaurant upstairs was closed and it was a little cafe like in character but v friendly and covid secure

Great atmosphere and a good food selection and very polite staff.Had a very nice time with friends, the pub has very good socially distancing rules in place even with all these restrictions in place a good time was had by all.

I live in camber sands seasonally and we often visit the castle and I have never been served by anyone as hospitable as Anne, she is incredibly friendly and always takes notice and care when a group are in the castle, she deserves all the success xx

Nice pub if all you are after is a decent pint, I had a Ham, Egg and Chips on Saturday evening and the ham looked as though it had just come out of cost cutters, I'd rather pay extra and get a decent piece of ham, the main meal got a little mixed up with someone else's so our food turned up at varying times, the pudding (there were three) turned up at different times so that we had finished ours and then my daughter got hers, not great BUT it is a decent pint and the food is edible

Friendly place and actually use track n trace.The food is simple and the kitchen is open most of the time.The bar staff work solo but some of the locals seem to help.There is a bar and lounge (if we are being old fashioned) there is a TV in the lounge with kids shows being shown. Very family friendly. Bar staff were polite and accommodating but work very long hours - not relevant but it's always helpful to know!

Had a bloody great laugh with old wiz boi couple of crackheads but there alright geezers tbf would recommend to anyone and the skirt in there is 10/10

Camber castle pub is amazing even if you go in on your own or with your family, l am a very bad eater, they will cater for your food requirements. L all ways get a warm welcome and the locals are so helpful

Reading some of the reviews I think they must be false, I went ere for two meals Monday and Tuesday as I always do when working in the area.The food is excellent and the staff are friendly and helpful, I’ve been eating and drinking ere for years when working in the area and never had a single issue.It’s clean and well priced, if the staff are wondering which customer I am I was wearing a brown leather jacket and arrived in a van around lunch timeKeep up the good work!!

We always come to this pub when we visit camber and have eaten here on many occasions. Staff are always friendly and welcoming and food is always great and reasonably priced.

Having read the recent rude reviews i have to assume they were writen by recently excluded individuals that would have been excluded from any good honest establishment given their behaviour. It is credit to the management that they take firm "appropriate" action to exclude such people and protect their valued customers.This pub/restaurant is a very family friendly place that is enjoyed by many people, both locals & the very large number of visitors especially during the summer months, all of whom are welcomed and treated with courtesy and respect.

ALWAYS make a point of going to eat and drink here when I'm in camber,be it on a day trip or little family break. Food, entertainment and atmosphere are amazing. Staff and locals always welcoming... definitely a 5 star from me and my family x

Terrible management and they victimises there customers hurling abuse at them and threatening them in view of other customers and licensees would not recommend this place

Dark, dingy run down "pub" and the management are vile people. Shouting and swearing abuse at customers whilst trying to drag them out (without an SIA badge) whilst also drinking. This place would be amazing In the right hands but instead is exhausted, dirty, cold and vile just because of then mindset of useless people.who couldn't run a bath. Would recommend to avoid this place

Previous reviews of this place are either false or very misleading. It looks as ropey inside as out.... There is a large menu choice which should raise queries about how realistically fresh the food is. The advertised Sunday lunch was "cooked" in less than 10 mins.... The pork had an odd taste & the brocoli was under cooked. The Yorkshire tasted awful. All in all not worth the money or effort. Travel to Rye for chips instead....

This is a typical pub you would expect to find on a council estate, it lacks any charm, but if you are looking for a local boozer with nice clientele, friendly and efficient staff and reasonable beer, you wont go far wrong.The food seems to have very mixed reviews, although the food we saw being served seemed to be well received, although I was slightly concerned to observe the smooth creamy potato that appears to be featured in a lot of reviews is actually packet smash for those who remember the powder potato times and the coks method to test if it was at a suitable temperature was to put their finger in it.I would be inclined to stick to anything with chips and the beer to e on the safe side.I really a really enjoyable experience

Great food, good service and all reasonably priced. Like others have said, it looks more like a social club from the outside but this shouldn’t put you off...it’s a great restaurant and only a short walk to the beach if you are looking for something to do after your meal. A great find.

So they serve up large portions here. So your get fed well here. Fully bellys all round. Garlic bread is not nice that was one let down it was hardly cooked.

Not very impressed, hubby had a beer and the glass was filthy. Food was nothing special. Two women staff were OK but seemed more interested in talking to each other. We didn't stay for dessert

From the outside you wouldn’t think this was a pub, more a social club. But don’t be fooled. The staff were friendly and the locals also. Felt for the Crystal Palace supporter having to wear a spurs kit for a full day when the food came, it was an impressive roast lots of veg, succulent meat and good roast potatoes. All in all a great pub

17 of our family members turned up and they didn't have enough space in the restaurant so they opened up their function room for us. The service was outstanding just like the food. Kids all served fast and with great meals. Great steak. Great servings. Great restaurant. Thank you so much.

My wife and I popped in on a Saturday night whilst passing. Staff were friendly as were the few locals that were in the pub. I'd definitely return if in the area again.

Great placeforsunday lunch, prices are very reasonable. Cookie dough is to die for. Visited here as I fancied a change while at pontins. Free parking also just type in reg at front door.

Popped in for breakfast, which was ok so we though we would pop in for a roast when at 4 pm nothing left the staff ate ok but the bar looks like your on a council estate not very welcoming .

An excellent place to enjoy an all day breakfast at a reasonable price. Great staff and well prepared to meet your needs. Vegetarian option served is excellent. Well worth a visit

Popped in for a beer on a wander around Camber. Barmaid was good, friendly and the pint was alright. Place was tidy and clean. The decor is more pub on housing estate. It wasnt very busy. Probably locals. It is out if season . I imagine there can be a good crowd there some nights.

Have just had a meal at the pub. What a lovely place. The food is 100% and the staff are just as good. Definitely go back here.

Having arrived later than expected for our short break in Camber, looked for somewhere close for dinner and found the Camber Castle. From the outside, as so many other reviews say, it does not look much, and maybe inside could do with a little bit of improvement. However, the food was freshly prepared, very tasty, enormous portions, the bar attendant was helpful, and friendly, and the cost was less than expected. Overall, it was a very pleasant meal, with generous portions, in a nice pub with friendly staff. It was certainly what we needed, and would probably return having given it a try.

I read the previous reviews about this place not serving food after 7pm, and management's response that they were now open to 8:30, so thought it would be OK.

The pub looks a little un-pubish from the outside, but the food is freshly prepared, and the drinks are reasonable in price. If you're having a meal or drink, just register your reg number at the bar, as it is so close to the beach, some people try and park there before wandering off. Nice staff, I'd go back.

We ate here as a family of 4 with 2 over-tired and grumpy kids! It doesn't look very inviting from the outside, and, to be honest, the inside isn't particularly inviting either! However, the food was good and the portion sizes were great!

Popped in here with friends on a Sunday afternoon, good service, the best Sunday roast! And reasonable price too! Would definitely return! Thank you camber castle 🤗

Popped in pub for a quick pint at lunchtime with family and was made very welcome and at ease instantly, all our drink prices were good and bar staff really friendly, we decided to have dinner there that evening, it's a good menu a specials board and meal deals loads of choices. The meals themselves were delicious,everyone had ample portions and it was really good value. Thank you all at Camber Castle

Service may be a little slow probably because food is cooked to order and worth the wait as it is always piping hot. Generous portions and excellent value.

Came here for Sunday lunch. Thank goodness I opted for the small portion - I was stuffed. Had I ordered a large plate, I would never have eaten it all. The food was great and the value amazing.

great pub people really friendly bar staff and rob and jennene lovley people food is great we had the meals deals when we were there great value for money food excellent we had a fabulous new years eve there with live band will be going back thanks all clare and steve

First visit as not somewhere I would venture in as has an unwelcoming appearance. Inside wasn’t much better but the staff were friendly and helpful. We chose the special meal deal for £10 which included a pint or glass of wine. When the meals arrived I was gobsmacked at the size, each meal could have fed 2 of us. The Beef Rib in Ale was the best I’ve ever tasted so much meat and very tender and moist. The Belly if Pork has a lovely crispy skin and the meat was delicious. Accompanied by smooth mash great carrots beans and cauliflower cheese. Unfortunately neither of us could finish our meals because they were so big.

we had my dads birthday drink here and we loved the pub, we also booked in for the Sunday roast there was enough room for all us, well there there was 25 people in our party. the food was very I would recommend having a meal.

We popped in here for a quick drink and lunch. Very slow service but the food was ok. Handy as there isn't much else open this time of year.

From the outside it does look a bit dated. Reminds me of a social club. However the meal was spot on. We were staying at Park Dean and needed a night away from thousands of screaming kids. We've eaten on the camp and for the same money the meal here was far superior. A great steak cooked exactly as asked. Lovely seafood medley, nice bit of fish and chips and a tasty lasagne. Staff were great. Don't pass it by.

THIS IS ADVERTISED AS A FAMILY BAR. Sorry but this place is dull and looks more like a place for power drinker's. will not be going back.

Visited pub with son. Great friendly staff nice beer . Game of darts. Thanks guys will visit again next time I'm in the area

Was a bit dubious about this restaurant mainly due to the aspect of the building so was very pleased with Knights restaurant upstairs on Saturday 15th Sept. Tiff the waitress was very pleasant, the food good and plentiful, the prices were also good.
