Visiting the area and was recommended by our B&B host. Rang in advance to book a table and we did ask if there were veggie options as one of us is vegetarian. We were told there were but not as many as the meat and fish options. When we arrived there was only one vegetarian main course of Arranchini I asked if there was anything else and was told there wasn’t much call for veggie food there. Food was okay, expensive for the portion size and served without the option for extra vegetables, salads or breads. Decidedly average

Fantastic food, service and value however the evening was completely spoilt by some drunk middle aged men at the bar’s exit being abusive. They need to be banned.

An upmarket gastro pub with extensive seating inside and out and in an attractive setting. The menu is relatively small which is a positive. The food was well presented and pretty good. A decent wine by the glass too. Unfortunately, the service was mixed depending on who waited on your table. Some wait staff lovely, one in particular was disinterested. Such a shame as it's the negatives which leave the impression. Prices reasonable for the offering and area.

Really disappointed. Food was awful Starters chicken liver pate. Served with slice of standard bread no artisan breads or home made . The pate was sloppy and horrid. Fishcakes tasteless just potatoe tiny amount of salmon. Pork overcooked dry . Dauphinoise potatoes rock hard no cream tasteless . Overall the meal was very below standard and expected a lot more. Waitress asked how starters were told her but no comment given . Didn’t even ask us how mains were. No care here . Lovely place shame about the food. Very overpriced for very underwhelming food Won’t return

Incredibly atmospheric traditional pub with open fires and friendly, welcoming staff. good range of beers, dog-friendly and a good range on the menu for starters, mains and desserts. The beef special was simply incredible, good portion size very well cooked and accompanied by lovely colcannon and gravy. Well worth a visit, so much so we have already revisited.

Such a lovely pub. Very friendly staff, the food is delicious and has a good drinks offering. We visited on a Saturday afternoon for lunch, two couples with two dogs and a child, and even though they were busy we managed to get a table. We had starters, mains and desserts and all were excellent. Will definitely be coming back!

Stumbled across Three Chimneys by accident when looking for a quick drink and snack. Lovely old Pub and 'mostly' friendly staff who dealt with us efficiently. Snacks were quite costly but well presented and tasted great. To be honest, I wish we had the time to visit again for Dinner because some of the items on the Menu looked extremely appealing. Next time we are in the South-East, will definitely give then a try for Dinner

I always enjoyed my visits to this classic British country pub. It was always known for its good food and excellent service. However, since reopening after Covid the food is still excellent but the service is non existent the staff walk round with there head in the clouds as if the guests are not there. I went back a few times as thought could have caught them on a bad day but sadly not. Will not be returning. Unfortunately good pubs in this area are now a rare.

We were both looking forward to visiting, last time was over a year. Young friendly staff. Good starters, chicken liver pate and two substantial fish cakes, both with fresh well dressed salad. BUT as people came in, service was few and far between. The mains arrived, my husband had plaice in a good sauce but the potatoes were hard and not eatable, the only other vegetable was about a third of an endive. As the waitress didn't arrive until the fish was eaten when she offered to replace the potatoes with another potato dish it was too late. That was £19.95 just for a piece of fish. I had lamb with colcannon, but here again, the half a carrot (or it could have been about a third of one) was undercooked: £18.95. Our plates remained on our table for the next 15-20 minutes. I finally got hold of a waitress and asked for the dessert menu which arrived. But thinking of the time it had taken to retrieve our finished main meal we decided to stick with coffees, as we waited we decided to forgo the coffees too, as we wanted to be home for Christmas. Then added to this, the waitress bringing us the gadget to pay kept pointing out that service was optional, and how they were short staffed that someone has been recruited to help out, and my poor husband felt under pressure to leave a tip, esp as she kept pointing out the various amounts that could be left, which for once we were not inclined to do. Consequently, for this review, I can only give two points. I came away, quite annoyed. Nearly 20 quid for a piece of fish and then under pressure for a tip, did not add to my enjoyment. Staffing shortages are the restaurant's problem, not the customers, and the cook should not be serving half raw potatoes.

Many pubs claim to offer good food but few do. 3 Chimneys most definitely does. We were very hungry so had 5 different starters between 3. All excellent. Fresh and well prepared. Mani courses all head and shoulders above most pub grub. Staff were friendly and immediately attentive without being over bearing. To top it all its a beautiful old pub with lovely garden and all ales straight from the cask. Do Sissinghurst Gardens first then come here for early dinner.

We called in early evening in thé off chance and were greeted warmly and given a choice of tables in the inner courtyard which we wanted. The menu was sufficiently varied and we shared a very fresh mackerel salad starter, followed by beautifully presented plaice fillet on spinach and crushed potatoes with pea and lettuce broth; my husband chose pork loin with savoy and Parmentier potatoes. Both mains were generous and cooked to perfection. We forced ourselves to share a large sized portion of sticky toffee pudding with good coffee alongside. The restaurant served us very good tasting Sauvignon blanc wine in glasses and we were pleasantly surprised to receive a very sensibly priced bill. We had been there some years ago and were delighted to enjoy such a perfect meal served professionally by young, enthusiastic staff and in such a perfect location. Thank you to the clever chefs at the Three Chimneys, we can’t wait to return.

We have eaten at the 3 Chimmneys on numerous occasions since October 2022 and have noticed a steady decline sadly. The food was once exceptional but it is not as good as it once was. The portions are a lot smaller, a tablespoon of cauliflower cheese, thinner slices of overcooked roast beef although still tender. Deserts are much reduced in size and are not as flavoursome. Regarding the service, on the whole very welcoming however we have increasingly experienced some staff as loud and indiscreet. Also, ‘smashing’ shut the cutlery drawer, dashing around and loudly talking about evening plans. This spoiled an otherwise pleasant afternoon. This is such a shame as we so appreciated the understated quality of service and great food we experienced at 3 Chimmney’s until recently.

The Three Chimneys is an attractive old building with the significant advantage of a massive parking area between the main road and the pub. Disappointingly, we found the bar and individual rooms to be rather dark and furnished with uncomfortable chairs and tables. Our reserved table had low sided which meant that it was difficult for the taller person to fit your legs underneath. Also the wood chairs were hard, small and not easy to move. The plus points were the service from young, helpful girls and the quality/presentation of the food. We all 3 chose the homemade tomato and basil soup (£6.50) served in a large bowl with fresh white and brown crusted bread with generous portions of butter. It was hot with great flavour and a coarse texture. Really nice. My main was breaded escalope of tender pork with a spicy chimichurri, parmentier potatoes, fresh wilted greens and pureed apple (£18.95). The ladies had either a dessert or starter portion of prawn cocktail (£8.95). Our overall bill with 10% optional service was £82.00. Not sure if we would return because of the dim light and poor quality furniture.

Bit of a mixed review. I’m vegan and phoned ahead before booking to see if they had anything vegan as there was nothing listed on the menu. The guy said they usually have a couple of things they can do. So I booked. Went for lunch and again nothing vegan on the menu apart from one starter. This was lovely by the way but they offered me sweet potato and veg for a main course. This was just the starter again with sweet potato mash and a bit of spinach. No desserts but they could do apple crumble without the crumble, so basically stewed fruit which was very watery and tasteless. Left feeling hungry and £35 lighter! Charged full price for apple crumble and ice cream too! Wouldn’t go back personally but on the flip side, my friend who isn’t vegan thoroughly enjoyed her meal. So to round up, good for carnivores and poor for vegans. Lovely building and friendly staff.

Well, that was a waste of time! Arrived for lunch and waitress was rude when we said we’d like a beer at the bar. “You could have told me.” Proceeded to bang our beer glasses down. The pork chop was so over cooked it couldn’t be cut. It was left. The waitress didn’t care, just took the plate away - no question about it not being eaten, if our meal was ok, let alone would you like a replacement. The problem was politely pointed out without fuss. She didn’t care less. Ah, when the bill arrived, there was the pork chop, proving they couldn’t care less. Staff attitude problem - nobody seemed happy, least of all welcoming. Avoid.

We stayed one night in a large on-suite King size room and really enjoyed our stay. Bathroom is modern with a walk-in rainfall shower with robes. Friendly welcoming staff both over dinner and for breakfast.

We stopped here for a coffee and cake while on our walk into Taunton. Very nice cafe. Nice food and plenty of different drinks

Really bad service . Failed to heat my nacho chicken up even when repeatedly asked. ? Non toasted old bun. A particularly unpleasant experience

Great place to drop into for a drink and/or a snack. Very friendly, helpful staff. Good choice of snacks on the menu with cakes also available. Good value for money and, an added bonus, it's dog friendly. extremely convenient if you're visiting either Charity Farm Countrystore or the adjacent garden centre.

Go here instead of the chains up the hill! Food is yummy, good service and it's nice and spacious for a pram as well. The bacon paratha is really yummy too

Great service. Amaya and the rest of the team always go the extra mile and they make us feel welcome.
