This is our second time to Lago. Generally we have always enjoyed our meals there. The restaurant has a very pleasant atmosphere and thr staff are attentive. The title reflects what our thoughts are on our visit yesterday. We all had 3 courses with 2 bottles of wine, a beer and 2 bottles water. One of the main dishes a veal chop was very tough and it was pointed out to us it had been asked for as well done and that causes it to be tough. I think it the was manager who came overand explained that. He was polite to be fair to him.
My point is, Im in my 60’s and have been to many restaurants and had a few cuts of meat in my days at various establishments and at home. I must point out that it wasn’t my dish that was the issue here. It was my mother in law’s, she always has her meat well done. Anyway i tried her dish just in case she was being overly fussy or wrong (now that’s a dicey road to go down!)
It was tough and it wasn’t cooked well done as requested more like medium.
The point is we have all had dishes in restaurants and cooked by ourselves in the past well done and meats generally have been fine, you can be unlucky as it was in this instance. We weren’t looking for a refund on dish my mother in law had eaten some of it and gave up.
To be told it was our issue no matter how politely delivered is not the best way to deal with a customer’s concern. Our final bill was £324 for four people maybe a little bit of kindness in dealing with our concern should have been thought of. Otherwise the food was as expected.
A beautiful festive afternoon tea. Choice of delicious sandwiches with fresh scones and cakes (good portions too). Lovely options for the kids and gorgeous attention to detail on the tables.
We love this café anyway, but will definitely do their special teas again.
We chanced upon this restaurant during a brief stay in Cranbrook and found an absolute delight! The relaxed atmosphere with wonderful hosting from Beverley immediately put us in the mood for the superbly balanced menu. Highlights were the pumpkin soup with coriander oil, small rabbit stew starter, pork belly main course and delicious panna cotta for pudding. We would recommend it wholeheartedly!
Easy parking as always. Warm welcome from Tanya. We enjoyed paninis and baguettes, teas, soft drinks and iced coffee with icecream floating on top! Prices always great
My partner, dog and I love it here. A lovely cosy quirky feel and food fresh and delicious and cooked to perfection. Always friendly and welcoming. We always look forward to our visits. Thank you.
Fanstantic food, service, friendly, dog friendly, appreciate your custom, clean, had the American pancake breakfast very yummy, pancakes lovely & light
Lovely addition to the Tunbridge Wells casual dining scene. There has been a need for a real Mexican restaurant for years, not Tex mex rubbish of previous establishments. Great selection of cocktails 🍸 tequila, mescal & passionate staff.to talk you through the menu. Could do with a slightly extended menu as the food on offer is so good & more music to add to atmosphere.

This small restaurant opend under a new owner just before lockdown v1 and is now having an opportunity to establish itself.
Arrived for Sunday lunch at about 13.45 and we were somewhat concerned to see that we were to be the only people in the restaurant! We need not have worried as the food and service were excellent. And we were told that a large party had just left.
This is a great addition to the T.Wells food offer.
