Been meaning to give this a try for about 2 years now. Really glad we finally got around to popping in. Lovely ambience and excellent staff. The tuna mayonnaise sandwiches were excellent. The fruit scone had loads of fruit in it and the cream and jam were delightful. The vic sponge was moist and super tasty. The tea (not a supplier I would normally use) was really good. Helped no doubt by the lovely bone china. Overall very pleased. The cost was ok and I would definitely use it again very soon as I think the owners have it on the market.

What a lovely Cafe ,we searched for somewhere to take our Aunt for a light lunch. Read the reviews on this sight and we’re not disappointed. A good selection of hot and cold snacks or full meals;the Sunday Lunch looks inviting. We settled for toasted panini it came with a pretty salad and we shared a big pot of tea with extra hot water. We topped this off with a large slice of homemade walnut cake and a fruit cake. The service was excellent, the couple who own and run this cafe obviously make customer satisfaction a top priority.

We couldn't check into our B&B until 4pm so were looking for somewhere to eat as we'd not had any lunch and this place was open. It was a rainy day and at the point we arrived we were the only customers. We explained to the owner we were filling time until our B&B opened and she was happy for us to stay as long as we liked. My husband is a fussy eater so she was happy to make him cheddar and tomato on a freshly baked baguette. I chose an egg mayonnaise baguette and we could actually here the egg mayonnaise being made so we knew everything was very fresh. The only small criticism my husband had was that his sandwich came with Pringles not real crisps but there again he is fussy. My husband chose the homemade apple and cinnamon cake which was absolutley delicious. The owner also gave us some suggestions of things to do in the local area. Overall a lovely stop.

I had the beef pie which was delicious, served with a good selection of freshly cooked vegetables. For dessert I had ginger sponge pudding which came with a choice of custard, cream or ice cream, it perfectly cooked, a light sponge with plenty of crystallised ginger throughout the sponge. I visited here for a birthday tea and cakes with family having read the excellent reviews. On entering the tea rooms there was a very noticeable musky / damp smell about the place which wasn’t very pleasant. The owners met us and were very welcoming and happy to see us. We ordered some toasted sandwiches which arrived with a small dressed salad, not bad but could have been better for sure. We then asked about cream tea and cakes, there were only 2 cakes on offer neither which took our fancy / for a tea room I would have expected more! We settled for the scones with cream and jam. The scones were very good and warm, however, the amount of cream and jam dispensed with them was very small for such sizeable scones - we requested more and it came without fuss. All in all not bad, I probably would go again if passing and in need of refreshment but I wouldn’t travel the 27 miles I did for a special visit.

Tables in garden for warmer days. Venue can be hired for private events and the layout really lends itself to that idea. We enjoyed afternoon tea with sandwiches made to your exact preference and not prepared in advance and already starting to go dry as in many establishments! The cake is also your choice from a selection as oppose to lots of little delicate cakes which rarely satisfy! Last but by no means least...the scones- a choice of plain, fruit or ginger..yes ginger with a good choice of jams! My wife and I had visited Bodiam Castle and afterwards headed off to find the Sandhurst Tea Rooms. I had a feeling that we were in for a treat and we were not disappointed. After being warmly welcomed we were seated at a table at the front of the tea room. We browsed the menu and I chose the cream tea. I had a choice of plain, fruit or ginger scone and strawberry, raspberry, apricot or blackcurrent jam. My wife is a coeliac and has to follow a gluten free diet so she wasn't expecting that anything would be suitable for her. Low and behold she was offered a gluten free chocolate brownie! We thoroughly enjoyed our food, the tea and coffee too. After chatting with the proprietor we discovered that they serve a Sunday lunch. The first question my 8 year old grandson asks when he visits is "Can we go to the tea rooms" he has a special hot chocolate and chocolate cake and devours the lot they make him feel special and he loves it.I wonder if the fact that there isn't much competition around is because they couldn't compete

I have been a regular visitor to this wonderful tearoom for a number of years, as have a very large proportion of its clientele. It is not adjacent to any place of interest so simply relies on its good food and friendly atmosphere to keep customers coming back time after time. In this friendly atmosphere, people are made very welcome and proprietor Cynthia Brown and her husband Hamish and staff make every effort to ensure that you enjoy your visit. All the food is home made from the plain or fruit scones to the superb lunches. There is a vast range of puddings including at least one fruit pie/crumble, giant meringues, syrup sponge pudding, spotted dick, etc etc. Home made cakes vary depending upon what Mrs Brown fancies making, but there is always a good variety. All the usual tea room favourites are on the menu including baked potato with various fillings, toasties, sandwiches and baguettes. A delicious cooked breakfast is available until 2pm.Regulars will tell you that it is not possible to have anything other than a good meal and to reinforce this the staff love the place so much that they are all regular customers when not working. The tearoom is currently open from Thursday to Sunday. Home cooked Lunches are served on Thursday and Friday and are very popular, with pre-booking being strongly recommended. Sunday Lunches are even more popular and many attend every week - that's how good it is! You need to book Sunday Lunch well in advance.I regularly drive the 16 miles each way to enjoy the wonderful food and friendly atmosphere in what is arguably the best tearoom in Kent and East Sussex.Make an effort to visit this little gem. You will not be disappointed.

Yummy Breakfast!! We stayed at a hotel in the area but chose to eat breakfast here as we like to support small, independent businesses. We have just had a Meaty Breakfast and an American Breakfast. Everything was cooked perfectly and to our personal tastes. Hot, delicious food and great coffee! Would love to visit again if we lived closer! Well done to this lovely little cafe.

Having eaten several times at a pub run by the now owners of Tallow, we were keen to try their new venture. A way to travel for us and expectations were high… First impressions were of an inviting looking building, second impressions were of a warm, cosy place heated with a log burner. It was a cold, damp night but all this was immediately forgotten as we became enveloped in the Tallow magic. Nice decor, a mix of old and the more contemporary; stripped back wood and brick which complimented the building itself, with the statement fireplace and central winding staircase, a really lovely atmosphere. The waiting staff were all that you could wish for and more. Each course was described by the staff as it was served and just as delicious as its very explicit description. Without being told, our server asked if I was Vegetarian as I had chosen plant based options for both my starter and main courses. Without being asked, two different amuse bouche arrived, one for me and a different one for my husband. It’s little details like this that separate this restaurant from a lot of others and possibly why, on a wet Wednesday evening in November, every table was taken - bar one! Delicious food, beautiful surroundings, first class waiting staff, everything that we had hoped for and more. Would definitely recommend
