Nice views and looks a beautiful place but we drove in for a coffee and sandwich only to find that the parking is a mandatory fixed fee of £7 for the day courtesy of Ringo. Decided against stopping and drove out again. Maybe will go again outside of school holidays and when we’re able to spend a bit longer there.

When I visited the kitchen was closed for some reason so no meals available just sandwiches and some very flaky sausages rolls. The sandwiches were ok but on the expensive side. The seating was comfortable enough but the place just has no atmosphere. Two sandwiches, two drinks, two packets of crisps and a poor tasting sausage roll cost almost £20!

Crowded. Food and coffee not the best. Left keeping warm in trays like a department store. So can be stale . Seems to have a stressful atmosphere about it. Probably due to the queue to buy and wait for your purchase. Ice-cream choice was very minimal. Seating capacity not enough for the customers using the facility. Fortunately there was plenty of grass outside to sit on. Dry weather you could make do and mend , wet weather you will not find a seat.

Thinking of visiting but initial put off when you read £7.00 parking all day! How is this accommodating those who wish to pop into the cafe for just an hour? Losing potential customers at the first hurdle. Quite often less = more! What a shame.

Awful food and awful service. They weren’t serving basically all of the menu (other than the fridge things) no ice cream as advertised (apart from the items in the freezer) coffee was awful, honestly worse than a hospital or train station coffee. The ready made pasta made me feel sick for the rest of the day. The coffee came in a takeaway cup even though we sat in and was just chucked on the side and we were shouted at to collect it. The view is lovely but I would definitely not pay to eat or drink their again. Shame as it should be a lovely cafe/ coffee shop. My school canteen was nicer.

We went there on the Sunday and I was impressed with the size of the cafe and the range of choices available. There are sitting options inside and outside. Drinks are great, the salsa on the burger was not everyone's taste, but this is always personal preference, so other customers might also enjoy it. Staff work really well under pressure (it can get very busy) and are very polite.

We visited today with friends for a dog walk , called in cafe first to ask directions for the walk . Really friendly and extremely helpful young lady gave us a map and pointed us in the right direction. Had a great two hour walk which was good footpath and make a nice change from slipping around in mud. Called in the cafe for coffee and sandwiches and again was made to feel so welcome by the same young lady. Really nice visit and made nicer by such friendly staff member. This is a very nice large cool cafe, a very welcome respite on a hot day, clean and comfortable with toilets. All sorts of coffees, teas and cold drinks available plus sandwiches, cookies, cakes etc. The young staff were friendly. I didn't see any hot food on offer but there is a kitchen (maybe I was there at the wrong time) price of food and drinks reasonable, the sandwiches were very fresh and delicious.

This review is purely on the cafe… Went here for lunch with the kids, there was barely anything on the hot plate to choose from, only 4 options anyway, two of which were empty, and the sandwich option for kids was pretty awful, as parents we are all aware that our kids won’t touch certain thing even if they are removed from the sandwich. Nothing out the back to replenish either. As it’s winter, apparently, then nothing is cooked fresh! Not even some chips! So be aware, £6 for parking and nothing to have for lunch… should probably have stop at Burger King! Definitely bring a packed lunch!! Mega disappointing! You’d have thought people walking round the grounds would have enjoyed something hot to eat.

We paid £8.50 for a “quarter pounder with gherkins and diced onion” expecting something half decent seeing as it took a while to come out. The photo says it all really, I was fuming, you’d get better quality in McDonald’s. The burger was so thin and obviously microwaved and I got a grand total of 3 gherkins out the jar that’s probably a year old. The £8 “battered chicken pieces” were like eating dry cardboard too. Appalling establishment to say the least.

On a Friday during the school holidays we decided to take our dog for a walk round Bewl Water. We thought that we would be OK food-wise as there was The Waterfront Cafe and The Waterfront Bar & Bistro. Arriving at 11.45 we were pleasantly surprised to find that the cafe was dog friendly and decided to have a coffee whilst we thought about whether or not to have our walk or lunch first. Although the coffee was served in cardboard cups, it was good and reasonably priced but, in regards to lunch, there was not a sign; apart from a chalked up board and sandwiches in a chilled self-service dispenser. My wife is Gluten Free and when she asked about what would be available for her, she was told that there would only be one item to cater for her diet and that food service finished at 3.00. Enquiries regarding the Bistro revealed that it was not open as there was a wedding reception that afternoon. Not a sign anywhere to show this closure. The decision was to go for our walk and find somewhere else for lunch. It was a pity because, from the terrace, with the views it has, this could be a great attraction.

We did quite a long walk round Bewl on a weekday, really enjoyed that time, and then the cafe spoilt it! It was lunch time but we had a hunch that the dinners they were serving wouldn’t be good ( it was quiet). After being overcharged by about £9 we got the two hot drinks in cardboard cups and two different sorts of soups as they’d run out of one. Mine was meant to be tomato, but it was so strong, like puréed tomatoes, nasty! and my other half said his tasted strange. The bread to go with soup was obviously stale so they’d toasted it, and it was a very small amount. This place needs to cater for hungry walkers, cyclists, fishermen and generally people out in the fresh air, and serve nourishing tasty meals, with some care and pride in their jobs by the sound of other reviewers. We’ll take our own food next time we go!

Having walked right round (29 km!) we got back at 4.15, changed out of our VERY muddy boots and went to the café at 4.25 only to be told all the machines were off and they were shut! There were several other people in front of us being told the same thing. When we said to the staff that all signs said 5pm and that we had just walked all the way round they just shrugged. They clearly had somewhere to go. Not good enough we set off at 09.15 so unless you set off even earlier then don't expect to get a refreshment. Not good enough! Either change the signs or tell the staff to that 5pm means 5pm not 4.15 - the machines were already clean so had been off for a good 10-15 mins before we got there.

For such a large facility in such a great location, it's not very good. A small selection of food, only some of which is fresh. The coffee is served in single use paper cups, and the cutlery (and some plates) is disposable. The tables and chairs are quite dirty, covered in mud from other guests who've been out rambling. I understand this might be tricky to keep on top of, but in the half hour I was there, nobody did any cleaning, despite it being fairly quiet. I'd skip this place.

Venue and view awesome. Customer service questionable. Had 2 children following £125 Santa experience. No child food obviously available. Asked for a ham sandwich which was made and ok. Tried to get another and apparently too much for the chef to do despite staff hanging around chatting everywhere. Given the clientele likely to see Santa is children disappointing experience. My toddler made a mess with the complicated adult sandwich she had to have and that attracted huffing and puffing. Again not ideal but not all that child friendly given our reason for visiting. Shame given overall cost. Not especially cheap either with what we did have coming to £20.

Visiting the area and was recommended by our B&B host. Rang in advance to book a table and we did ask if there were veggie options as one of us is vegetarian. We were told there were but not as many as the meat and fish options. When we arrived there was only one vegetarian main course of Arranchini I asked if there was anything else and was told there wasn’t much call for veggie food there. Food was okay, expensive for the portion size and served without the option for extra vegetables, salads or breads. Decidedly average

I was utterly humiliated by the cafe manager. As regular visitor ( 2 or 3 times a week) and Bedgebury member I was there with my running group on Friday morning. I ordered an Iced Tea & provided my own cup. I am also entitled to a 10% discount as I'm part of a running group and I genuinely thought I could get my card stamped too (another runner also gets his discount & card stamped) as part of a buy 9 coffees & your 10th is free deal (or something along those lines). The manager Bobbi put my order through the till & then said to me in a very loud voice so that everyone could hear that I couldn't have a discount & my coffee card stamped at the same time and as she'd already stamped my card that I couldn't have my 10% discount. And proceeded to cancel the transaction & put it through again. I was so embarrassed, I went bright red. I felt utterly humiliated. She could have said (quietly) that she'd let it go this time but wouldn't let it through next time. There was a long queue by the time she re-entered my order. I was mortified by the experience ! I will bring my own drink next time.
