The Duke of York in Tunbridge Wells

We did not eat food, but whenever I have been to this pub, I like the friendly people. The decor is cosy and gives a feeling of warmth. Highly recommend.

As soon as you enter you can see it is a restful old style pub with cosy corners. Very quiet when I went in and charming

I ordered Beer battered cod and chips but it tasted totally bland and similar to frozen food heated in an oven. My friends sausages, gravy and mash was equally bland. I could not recommend and will not return.

Went there to have couple of drinks with friend for his birthday.welcoming atmosphere. Good service and friendly staff. The speciality of this place is good selection of craft ales. Plenty seats inside as well as outside.

I was in town for Local Live with one of my best friends and her partner. We were welcomed warmly and we enjoyed food and drink in the sun, before headed to the park. I ordered Bangers and Mash, it was tasty but the menu specified that there were peas and leeks with the dish-but only peas were present. I wasn't bothered by it, so I just enjoyed the meal and enjoyed the company.

Not been in here for some 40+ years. Insides changed a lot, outside is still the same with people filling the tables and sitting on the nearby walls. Nice atmosphere. People behind the bar have changed a bit too, 40 years ago they were happy serving you instead of chatting with their mates!

Staff, excellent, food, excellent, atmosphere, excellent. Would highly recommend for family or for the group. Best pub in TW.

A really well looked after pint of real ale in a pleasant environment. Sitting outside there is a steady stream of people exploring the Pantiles, good for people watching.

Stopped by on a hot Sunday afternoon for a quick drink with my partner. The drinks were fine and not too expensive, we were in a sunny area outside and engaged in a lovely conversation with a local couple who were walking their English Mastiff, Bob! Lovely atmosphere, chilled vibe and a good place to revisit should we be back at the famous Pantiles soon!

The Duke is very nice with kind people and it's just a nice place to socialize and enjoy and I feel very popular there

Don’t go if you expect to eat, not even a snack. We got our drinks then were told they couldn’t do food as they already had three tables eating. We were a group of 7 and only wanted 3 portions of nachos to share with a lunchtime drink. They advertise good food out side the pub and we’re happy to take our money for drinks( which were expensive) . We wouldn’t have minded if they had said we can’t do food before taking our drinks order and money as we would have just moved on to somewhere else. Not at all impressed.

Sat outside which was nice, only downside are tables to close together, so if size 14 or over can be a squeeze.

£4.90 for a bowl of chips. £2.15 for a large dash of lemonade for a child. Never again.

Nice bar, friendly staff and dog friendly too. Come in the winter and you might be blessed with the roaring fire too. Not today sadly, it's too warm. But perhaps the next time I get a chance to visit.

Great to see old faces in this old nostalgic haunt of days gone by. Love how it's only changed in the best ways but not in its essence. Wish I'd been able to say Hi to one person in particular.....u know who u are.....x

Roaring fire and great sunday lunch, friendly staff too.

Pricey and could do with a wider selection of spirits and bar snacks.

A pub should serve its staple fare such as fish and chips, hamburgers, pies, bangers and mash etc very, very well. We ordered hamburgers and chips at The Duke of York. The chips were excellent. The hamburgers were awful. They were served lukewarm at best, overpowered with bacon jam so that the predominant flavour was acid and sugar, and cheese nowhere to be seen there was that little of it. But the worst was the meat patty. So hard, it could be used as a curling stone. My friend described it as “indescribably tight”. I had no words so let my actions speak instead and left three-quarters of it on the plate. Demolished the chips though. We debated whether or not to mention anything when we struggled through our first mouthfuls of the hamburger but decided against it. As mentioned above, if you’re a pub owner/pub chef/pub manager, you KNOW what you’re serving to your customers so why make me the bad guy and point out how bad your burger is? GBP18.50 for this sub-standard meal, btw.

Atmosphere and staff were both good but whoever put together the recipe for their burger has got the weirdest concept of what works in terms of flavour I have ever come across. The overall flavour had you wonder if the meat was not quite right. But I don't think this was the case just too many flavours from the pickled red onions and their special sauce that really don't work. Very disappointed considering it was £33 for two burgers with fries.

We went to an English pub for the first time during our family holiday. We loved it! First we played a game of Scrabble and then enjoyed the delicious shepherd's pie and ribs.

Had the signature dish the ribs they were just a plate of fat and gristle. Costing £25 I question how they can justify this!!!!

Four of us ate lunch here, food and service was good, if we're in the area again we'll return.

Came here to eat as we had a birthday voucher. The food was disappointing, l went for the signature dish of pork ribs, which looked like they had be microwaved and it certainly did not live up to its description. The burgers which others had again we dry, and not juicy when cooked fresh. The service at the bar was great. We were found a table outside. Good selection of drinks. Would visit again for a drink.

A nice olde worlde pub. Like the rest of The Pantiles. Mainly a mature crowd and not overbearing. Clean toilet's, although upstairs the is a wheelchair accessible amenity diwnstairs. Beers ok and staff pleasant.

It's not a bad pub, per se, but £6 for a pint of average Guinness seems steep

Good Fuller's pub serving. Range of Fuller's ales and other brands. Had the best fish and chips here that I have had in a long time. Miles better than the fishy and chip shop.

Lovely spot, we went for roast dinner as a group - those who didn't order the roast fared reasonably well, but the roast dinners (beef and turkey both tried) were simply awful. The beef was particularly bad, overcooked, dried up and very, very chewy - and at nearly £19, not cheap. A real shame.

Quick bite to eat for a late lunch. Food was lovely, service quick and we managed to waste two hours playing a game we found and laughing our heads off. Will defo go back. Reasonable priced food and good choice. Very relaxing atmosphere.

Really amazing place. The staff are so lovely and willing to help in any way they can. I came here with my father, who isn't very mobile, and everything was super easy. There is an accessible WC there too.

Nice chairs but overpriced booze

I only popped in for a drink with some friends after a meeting. We had a quiet corner and had a lovely chat. Staff were polite and helpful so I'd definitely head back again.

Beer to expensive, considering you can to nearby pubs just as good with the same beer and it's cheaper. Young staff also couldn't deal with 3 drunk aggressive blokes. Perhaps door staff required on weekends.

Chilly out, first date, snuggled up by the fire - it’s ideal. Lovely setting tucked away in the Pantiles so we started here with a 🍷 Old school place, timbers, fires 🔥 x 3 ~ enjoy before moving on to the Ragged Trousers & The Wine Room as we did. Finally headed to Steak which was fab .. see my review 👍

Cozy place with a real fire and big beer selection.

Went this evening with a family with twins and the staff went out of their way to make us welcome. I had the chefs special of pie,mash and greens. Very nice. A good selection of ales. My favourite was the London pride. And excellent beer, perfect temperature.

3 gin and tonic’s and a vodka coke was nearly £50. I questioned this and the lady rolled her eyes and said this was the pantiles. I don’t recommend unless you like being patronised and spoken down to.

Asked for 4 single gin and tonics and the bill came to £44. I questioned this and the bar lady said you're in the pantiles. Then half way through our drinks we had to pour all our drinks into plastic cups. I've used this pub for many years but the current staff were very rude to me and my friends tonight. We wont be going back!

Decent food and reasonable service except for them refusing to serve my partner a glass of milk because "they couldn't ring it up on the till" which seems silly when I ordered over £50 of food and drink.

This is the second time we have visited this pub. We ate on Friday and food was ok. We asked for the bill which came out at 52.90. The barman brought out card reader and I trustingly thought that it would be for that amount. My husband gave him a £5 tip for which he was grateful. When I checked my santandar account the amount I paid was not showing as pending. It was not until Sunday that the money was taken. This was for £59.32. My fault for not checking card reader before going ahead. On the bottom of our receipt it had that an optional 12.5% service charge is added to tables of 8 guests of more. There were just two of us. Our visit now ended up £11 more. He was quite happy to accept our £5. My fault for trusting these people. We will not go back and probably not only check reader but pay by cash. Much safer. Like to hear what the Manager has to say about this. Probably won't though.

Went with my mate for a quick drink, the interior was nice and the staff was very friendly. The Duke of York is a good place to go if you want a relaxing drink with some friends.
