I brought my granddaughter to The Trough for breakfast, having visited previously and enjoyed my trip. I didn't think that the coffee tasted good and wasn't presented well. We had a mini breakfast and a full English, the service was prompt, though I didn't feel that the breakfast was good value, namely the poached eggs where flat and not hot, bacon was so dry found it difficult to swallow the baked beans were cold along with the toast. A bit disappointed this time.

I love the Trough, friendly staff, a very relaxed vibe and a great place to take kids. They also happen to have the best flat white in the weald. I'm a bit of a coffee snob and you won't find a better one anywhere nearby!

Great place to drop into for a drink and/or a snack. Very friendly, helpful staff. Good choice of snacks on the menu with cakes also available. Good value for money and, an added bonus, it's dog friendly. extremely convenient if you're visiting either Charity Farm Countrystore or the adjacent garden centre.

Big Thank You to Holly, Charlotte and Team. For a rustic afternoon cream tea for sixteen people. Good service, pretty tables and delicious food. The pink pigs were fun and looked amazing. Bonus to have jugs of fresh water on the tables.

This was our first visit here (and it won't be our last) and we decided to have a snack lunch. I had a pasty and my wife had a jacket potato. Both were very tasty and very good value for money. Also, the staff were very friendly and helpful and, an added bonus, it's dog friendly. We will be back.

Rude staff with no people skills and have no professional approach, long wait for a simple bowl of soup to be heated and no urgency for people on a short lunch, awful experience I wouldn’t recommend.

Didn’t start great when I wanted to order the banana pancakes as advertised on the website and actually they don’t do them! Anyway decided to give it the benefit of the doubt as the coffee was lush. Two breakfasts arrived quickly by the time the rest came out they had almost finished theirs. Two arrived without the added extras by the time they were actually brought out to us we had nearly finished our breakfasts and the beans were cold. They were taken away to be heated, when they came back they were still cold. No one ate them as by the time they finally came back we had all finished. Would not recommend unless stopping for a coffee whilst shopping. Sad because I thought it was going to be good from reviews!

Visited here today for my dads birthday. There were 6 adults, 4 children and it was spot on. Our table was ready and the pre-order was spot on. I made a mistake with our order which they happily sorted out despite it being my error! Coffee was delicious and my avocado on toast was the best I’ve had for ages. So glad we tried this venue and I’m sure we will return.

Go here instead of the chains up the hill! Food is yummy, good service and it's nice and spacious for a pram as well. The bacon paratha is really yummy too

I came to the cafe on Saturday afternoon and I felt that this cafe could be greatly improved. We had the only cakes on offer (maybe there's sometimes a better selection?) which was muffins in packets. I also had a flat white. Unfortunately, the muffins were really synthetic tasting, with very long use by dates. The coffee wasn't barista coffee, so wasn't very good - came from one of those machines with a picture of the drink that you press.. always a bad sign. My coffee definitely wouldn't pass as a genuine flat white, more of a watery white coffee. The view was great but the floor was covered in litter and bits of food/chips etc. felt unloved. The staff were really nice and friendly though. Please get some fresh cakes and proper coffee! The standard felt like it was more like something from 10 years ago.

Sat outside which was nice. Not on a road so no traffic. Good beers. Red wine was good.
