Staff here act like customers are an inconvenience. More interested in measuring coffee grounds than serving customers. I came with a stroller and they weren't interested in assisting, despite there being numerous staff and not that busy. Staff are a bit odd. I was made to feel stupid because I asked for a different size flat white and staff weren't forthcoming with other suggestions. I didn't enjoy my experience but the coffee was good. There is a step up to the entrance and the door opens outwards so this is NOT an accessible coffee shop, not even for strollers.

Following a 12km hike we enjoyed family Sunday meals which ,for the team led by Claire , were remarkable served cheerfully in blussful surroundings. Abbot ale, Thatchers & Saxbys cider . Treats & water for our sprocker, George. Our sincere thanks for effortless quality of meals & service with a smile from Jo.

We were here with my friends for a drink. I asked for Pina Colada and the bartender didn’t know how to make it. First he took recipes and was confused for a while. Then he started to search in his phone and he was looking for drinks and ingredients. After some minutes he told me it takes 40 minutes to make my drink. So, I just changed my order and asked for half pint of beer. Meanwhile, he was so unkind and he behaved really unmannerly.

Amazing meal was had by all. Scallops for starters with black pudding were some of the biggest we have ever been served and they were delicious. Portion sizes were just right, service was impeccable, country location surrounded by beautiful houses. Looking forward to visiting again already. I must say - liquorice panna cotta was amazing, this is without a doubt the best pudding I've had in such a long time, i couldn't put it down. Team loved the night so thank you to all the team.

As visitors from Oxford we left the choice of venue to our 92-year-old host. She got it it spot on. There was no trouble parking in the huge car park of an ancient building with all the nooks & crannies, beams & uneven flooring anyone could hope for. A good old village pub full of atmosphere and original features. My eye was immediately taken by the row of four hand-pumps at the bar (taps for the modern beers were on the other leg of the compact 90º serving area) covering a range of Marston's ale;. Breakspears' Oxford, Wainwright's Lake & Courage Directors included, so a hard choice. Mine was a well-kept pint (curse drink driving laws ). We ordered food at the table from a good choice, although just the haloumi burger or curry for the veggies. Being a quiet Tuesday lunchtime it came relatively quickly and all at once. Served politely and attentitively it was a sight to behold: generous portions, well-cooked and delicious. Only one of us managed to clear our plates due to the amount stacked on them. Sadly, no room for desserts. The prices were very reasonable too and that made for a good value meal. Very satisfying all round. Next time we'll have to come for beer and desserts in the sunny garden. It's good to see that an ancient village establishment can retain its character while becoming a genuine gastropub.

Been a few times to this out let Coffee always been ok . Unfortunately.the toilets are bad. Obviously not checked or cleaned regularly it appears ? However .. it's apparent to me, the reason the toilets have got dirty. ...so many people now using them ,due to our council , changing ..0.50p card only at the , greyhound toilets around the corner. ..many people are not visiting Costa , refreshments then the code for toilets, they just wait outside untill someone vacate the said toilets and grab the door and enter......yes they should be checked and cleaned more. ...but the council has made this situation even worse in my opinion..!

Surly unfriendly service on 2 separate visits to the bar. Took a pint back that tasted of vinegar only to be dismissed and told it’s fruity that is how it is supposed to taste… whether that was the case or not the way it was handled with several members of staff chipping in made me feel like a criminal.. guy with the cap I assume was the manager should have taken control and thought about the longer term benefits of customer service.. I bought another pint and returned to my friends, only to find 7 of the probably 9 staff on the table next to me smoking cigarettes and looking far more jovial than they ever did behind the bar.. As a user of the Castle Rock loyalty app I hoped for better and will not be returning anytime soon.. Castle Rock sort this place out please..

We went to eat at noon. Everything was very correct and was delicious. The atmosphere of the place is very cool, dark style. At night we went for a drink and both the ciders and the beers were very good. There was a DJ playing rock/metal music. The atmosphere was great.
