Really friendly pub. Stayed overnight in the campervan - on arrival had a quick half and chatted to the landlady and landlord - really engaging and friendly. It was bike night so lots to see and the food, traditional homemade pub menu, was tasty. Nice beer and fantastic selection of low alcohol drinks at reasonable prices. We were there to meet family but it would make a great overnight stop for people going north to south or vice versa - 2 minutes from M1.

We use this place regularly as a drinking hole and eat there occasionally. Today (21/07/24) we had a Sunday lunch, which was the best meal that we have had there for a long long time. Everything was cooked to perfection, especially the Turkey in gravy. Good range of fresh Veg and nice gravy from the heated pot.

Thank you Cindy and family for an absolutely Sunday Lunch. Cauliflower cheese, Dauphinoise potatoes and the fluffiest Yorkshire pudding ever were all included in the carvery! There were seven in our party, including two children, and we were all made to feel welcome. The pub itself is warm and cosy, and, most important of all, dog friendly. Popular with the dogs also as there are always doggy nibbles on the bar. I would definitely recommend The Old Thatch Inn!

The poor Thatch had been through some tough years and we've had a lot of temporary managers... Very hit and miss as to whether they are serving food or not... BUT.. We went on Friday for a Christmas party meal... The new people had only been in post for a week and honestly it was the best meal I've had in a long time. Really tasty, hot, well cooked and delicious. Compliments to the chef. Well done to Cindy and Mark for getting it on track quickly and the whole of Stanton really hope you can make it work.

We have a motorhome and for the 1st time used the Britstops service which is a list (a book) of pubs and inns that offer motorhome users their carpark for an overnight stay.We contacted the Old Thatched Inn and asked if we could stay overnight. On arrival the landlady had selected a safe and private spot for us to use and had parked her own car there so that spot wouldn’t be taken. She and her family gave us an incredibly warm welcome. The Inn is a quaint , gentle welcoming place, warm wooden features, beautiful solid doors and a traditional stepping back in time feeling. We had a lovely meal, beef and ale pie which was piping hot and flavoursome. We wish the landlords the very best of luck in their relatively new venture in the Old Thatched Inn, If ever we are in the area again it will be our very first stop over.

We visited on New Year’s Day. After our experience we contacted Marston’s and were advised someone would call us back within 7 days. 15 days later and still nothing- this what we sent to Marstons.......“We have visited this pub on numerous occasions in the past including New Years day for the past 3 years and always been impressed. We were a large group (11) but had booked weeks in advance. On arrival I ordered a tea and coffee from the bar together with some kids soft drinks. This was at approx. 12:30. I was immediately disappointed that the hot drinks were then made using a jar of instant Nescafé in the dining area and the tea was barely half a cup. After initially being directed to the wrong table (not enough seats) we placed our food order for 11 meals at 12:50. There were only two other tables occupied, but we waited.... and waited then at 13:30 we asked the waitress how long our food would be? She said this was because the kitchen was too small(!?) and they can't cope with tables of 10. At 13:50 we then asked again and were told it would be about 5 mins. Then at 14:10 the first meal came out on its own. We then waited until 14:15 before the final meal arrived - 1hr25 after ordering. My wife ordered the Fish&Chips off the main menu described as "battered in house" - what arrived looked like a frozen child's meal - we asked the waitress if we'd got the right dish - her response was that's how Marston's deliver it to them. We just can't understand from the poor quality of food provide how it could take this long. I have time stamped photos to support and would really appreciate if a Marston's representative could call me to discuss. There's more but I'm out of space”I can only conclude the staff and management just don’t care.

We booked a table many weeks ago for New Year's Day for 12 people. 12.30 pm was the table time. We sat there for ONE & A HALF HOURS. after our order was placed. My son was just about to walk out when the lady, we presume may have beenMelanie Willetts the Manager, who was running the pub single handed, brought the first meal out. The others followed after a short time. 5 of these dishes were ok, but the beer battered fish & chips looked like a piece of fish out of a Bird's eye frozen pack. The lasagne was horrible and the Burger ? WHen I told the lady we had waited so long all she said was the kitchen was very small and they had a very late night New Year's Eve. We paid and left with no proper apology or even a complimentary drink or any discount. The problem was they booked two large parties that were there at the same time and no staff to cope. A nice pub that we have used for years but today was disgusting -sorry to say with nothing god to say about it. Management training needed.

Went here for Fathers Day with my daughter. Arrived, shown to our table , drink order taken and just left by the waitress. Could see the drinks on the bar sitting there for about 10 minutes. Eventually the licencee (I assume) brought them over. Still no waitress visit, so no menu. We could see the carvery which we both wanted so we joined the short queue, assuming that was the correct action.. (will come to the food later).....After the meal, the waitress collected the plates and gave us a menu. Then no revisit to take our order. She went around us, wiping tables and then gave a family their menu, took their order and gave them their food (in a staggered fashion I noticed). Still we sat there waiting for our order to be taken. Eventuall she came. I said nice Sunday Menu, why didnt you give us one at the beginning as we may have chosed something else. She informed us that chef is busy and they were not offering anything else! Still would have been nice to know! The food: I had 2 very thin slices of beef - I should have asked for another. Decent selection of veg, but only luke warm. The yorkshires resembled a pancake. I like mustard and horseradish with my beef, but they were the cheapest of the cheap. Mustard disgusting and horseradish as hot as whipped cream! Will not be returning. The licencee was a wet weekend and he obviously cant manage his staff to provide an acceptable level of service!

Having been here a while back and not being impressed to say the least some friends suggested that as its under new management we give it a try. Is it better? Marginally I have to say. There were only a about four or five tables occupied so it wasn’t overly busy for 8pm on a Saturday. The staff were pleasant enough but showed a lack of training – we had barely picked up the menu when we were asked if we were ready to order and at the end of the meal were asked would we like coffee or the bill! I don’t think that the staff were at fault but more the training or lack of is the issue. The food was OK but keeping to steaks is usually a safe option. I’m not sure as to whether Marstons or the Phoenix Pub Group own the place but either way something is still lacking in the overall plan for turning the place round. Definitely won’t rush back until I’m convinced that all is well.

We have been visiting the thatched Inn for a few years now. October 2016 saw it change hands and Phil, his wife and son Tom have already turned the restaurant round bringing with him an excellent reputation along with excellent home cooking. We have eaten at night and Sunday carvery and have always been very satisfied with everything. The Burns night with haggis and the works was brilliant with a full restaurant. I have already booked again for valentines night and intend booking for their special back to school themed night in March.

I thoroughly enjoyed the recent Burns Night in this lovely old pub / restaurant . It has friendly new owners and a nice warm atmosphere ..... no swearing loud mouths !! This was their 1st ever Burns event & as a true Scot I will happily say it was extremely well done and enjoyed by a good crowd ! The traditional fayre was Scottish food all tasty, cooked well the Haggis delicious too . My only comment would be bigger soup bowls please as the cock a leekie soup was wonderful ! Thank you Phil & Claire plus staff for making it a special night for everyone Good luck for the future and all your events .

Went here with a walking group of 25 people on a Tuesday morning, they opened for us at 9.30 so that we could pre order our lunch and use the toilets. On returning just before 1, we were quickly sorted with our drinks, then sat down and within 10 mins all our meals had been delivered. The food was of a high quality and with a 2 for 1 deal was of very good value. What also impressed was that there was a good choice of meals and some different vegetarian choices, which is always good to see.The owners, I think they are new, a father and son, were very friendly and welcoming. I would certainly recommend it for walking groups, indeed for anyone looking for a nice relaxing meal. There seemed to be a lot of different things going on in the run up to Christmas

Decided to give the Thatch a try for a last minute Saturday evening meal and arrived at around 7.20 or so. There was only four people in the bar, family in the games room, no-one behind the bar and the restaurant without a light on nor a customer in site. The menu look extensive but not the place to go on a Saturday - or probably ant other night for that matter. It really has a lot of potential but is tired and appears that whoever runs it isn't to concerned about it. Very odd.

Booked a table here for 7pm on a Saturday night. We have been here in the past and had great meal's but this sadly will be our last visit. On arrival stood in bar area for nearly 5 min nobody behind bar no one to show us were to our table. Eventually served and seated and drinks ordered. Food order taken then after drink's arrived landlady or woman in charge disappeared again sat outside chatting and smoking. Starter's arrived after about 10 min breaded mushroom's overcooked so hard shot off plate when you tried to cut them. Two mains of scampi also overcooked. Food on the whole is not to bad for what you pay drinks reasonable also just service let it down felt like a paying inconvenience to the landlady than a customer! Will not be returning.

A pub standing alone in a village, should be buzzing with locals, serving great food and a pleasant retreat for all. Visit this pub if you want to hear the regulars swearing constantly and the bar staff enjoying the drink as much as the paying guests. Marston Brewery need to get a grip.

This is a Marstons pub so good for a decent pint of pedigree. Have a food menu somewhat similar to Wetherspoons but better quality food. Staff are friendly, food and drink are reasonable prices. Free pool on a Tuesday, and free jukebox on a Friday.

This is an amazing oldy worldy style pub with traditional ales/beers and a superb selection of wines. I have eaten here several times and always been impressed with the quality of the food. Walkers, dogs and families are welcome.

We had one of the best pub lunches here today. So friendly, very extensive menu, dog and child friendly (there is a play table and toys). The food was exactly what we ordered and good quality for the very reasonable price. It's on our list to return when in the area

This is my second home because of the great atmosphere alone. The service is great, even at busy times, and the staff are very apologetic if you have a bit of a wait. The cafe is also now dog friendly which is a huge plus. Lovely staff. Great coffee and food. Great all round.

Great place for a bite to eat and a drink. Went as a group of 9 friends. The staff were very helpful with pre-ordering our food and the service was very good, the food was excellent and very fairly priced. Highly recommended.

I really wish I could review better than 3*, the coffee is very good and the baristas are better than those at rival coffee houses........BUT, the queue is constantly long with very little effort to get the customers served any quicker. The tables are usually littered with dirty cups, again, little enthusiasm from the staff to clear and clean them. I also think the toilet could be cleaned more regularly, it's a lottery using it, sometimes it's very clean, but more often than not, it's dirty.

We visited straight after spending the day at the zoo. I had scouted this place out beforehand as its just down the road.from the zoo and ideal for an evening meal before our drive home. The restaurant is spacious with great decor and a modern vibe. The menu was outstanding with a good variety for all interets as well as a decent kids menu. We opted for the seafood platter sharer, which for the price I wast sure would be very good however I was proved wrong. The quality was exceptional and far better than seafood platters I've had near the sea for twice the price. If you're visiting the zoo this place definitely worth a visit. Great quality, reasonable price and a stones throw from the zoo.

The Rose Lounge was a total rip off - I paid £184 for a small festive afternoon tea for two, which is extortionate for what it was. This didn't even include any alcohol! The savoury course was tiny only 1 sandwich and 3 bitesize bits, the scones were two bites - for £92 per person (inc. service charge) I would expect full size scones. The cakes looked nice, but weren't for me, unpleasant flavours, but I appreciate this is personal preference. It was nice enough, the staff were friendly and the venue/atmosphere was pleasant. The cello player was a nice touch, but he only seemed to know 5 songs so it became very repetitive. There any so many other places for afternoon tea in London that I would recommend over and above here.
