We could not get a table inside so sat outside. Paper cups takeaway containers paper bags and no service. The croque monsieur is a ham and cheese sandwich with some melted cheese cold on the botton warm on top and disappointing. The coffee was overly sweet and the cakes are not cakes but super sweet brownies and tray bakes. Anyway not great and hoping dining in is a better option. I probably won't ever find out.

Good food and service, however, I was unaware the cafe was dog friendly, and when a family with a very large dog were seated right next to our table and it was moving around close to us, it really put us off our food and conversation. I realise the Abbey Grounds are a haven for dog walkers but if they all bring their dogs in, it may not be a pleasant environment for everyone. I paid almost twenty eight pounds for two coffees and two sandwiches, predominantly for the stress free environment, not for the smells and attention of someone else’s pet. A shame, but not a place I shall return to.

I booked afternoon tea here for my Mums 60th birthday yesterday. So so disappointed how awful the service was! We got there at 1.30pm they didn’t even ask if we would like a drink untill 2.25pm. We had to keep getting up and asking which they then said oh sorry we have ran out of cups. Which simply isn’t good enough. My mum is disabled and doesn’t get out much so I thought this would be perfect, the reviews looked really good that’s why I booked it. Everyone lefted hungry!! Half the food did not get touched as they didn’t ask us about allergies or anything or even explain what food was what! It was a joke. 1 hot drink the whole time we was there?!!! They just lefted us but was great to all the other tables?! I don’t understand it we paid £120 they gave us £30 off the bill but if im going to be honest the lady said it was the best she could do!! We shouldn’t have even paid I am so bloody embarrassed! I was the one that arranged this and I had to apologise as I was so embarrassed the way we was all treated!! I will never ever ever be coming back here im so annoyed with myself that I even paid a penny! It’s so important these days to be asking about allergy’s etc!! Im definitely going to be taking this further, I don’t like confrontation but the truth is they treated us so bad i am so embarrassed.

We started to come here every week as a family because we always got lovely attentive friendly service. The last few visits however have been a let down and not half as much care. Seems to be a lot hiding behind the counter. We noticed that our usual waitress has not been around lately and service was suffering because of it. A couple of the better members of staff seem to have vanished quite recently and with it the goes the service we were getting used to. Very disappointed as of late. Such a shame. Good staff make the place and nonchalant staff can ruin it.

Came with two friends for a celebratory afternoon tea. We were served by Harvey who couldn’t have been more lovely and professional He explained the food to us and offered drinks and kindly put the small heater on when we asked The setting is lovely. Although the large room we ate in was quite cool. We came on a very wet day at the end of September and would have preferred to be a bit warmer We did have trouble parking initially as all the car parks were completely full and we were heading towards the field for overflow parking … which wouldn’t have been great when we’d had so much rain and we were wearing nice shoes. But thankfully we did get a space All the food was delicious, and they catered well for one vegetarian. My only comment would be that the sandwiches were dry.. the edge of the bread felt a little crisp as if it wasn’t completely fresh or had been made much earlier? This apart, we did enjoy the experience

We celebrated our 40th Anniversary at The Orangery Delapre Abbey yesterday and I would like to say it was wonderful. We were in a beautiful room overlooking the garden. The food was incredible and very generous in portion. The tables were all laid out for when we arrived with lovely china, We were given boxes to take home what we couldn’t manage to eat. In my party were 36 guests and we were all served at the same time. The girls were lovely, friendly and smiling. Could not have asked for more. I ask for Prosecco for my guests that wanted a glass and the girl in charge set up a table with lovely glasses, a huge glass bowl with ice which looked stunning. So very happy and our guests have all commented on how well organised everything was. Thank you to all the staff for making our day special.

We called in yesterday during a rather wet cycle ride for a coffee. The indoor seating is classy and comfortable, and we probably dampened it whilst we were there. We simply opted for a couple of hot drinks, but there is an extensive menu to choose from. I've often dined here at breakfast time, and the food is excellent. The service was great and the staff were friendly.

This place is marmite, and the reason I say this is because the food is always amazing, cooked to perfection and presented beautifully, truly crafted by an artisan team, nor for the marmite part the service it’s either amazing or totally shocking and it’s off putting because you can have the best food but if you haven’t got cutlery and not getting served and being ignored then it’s not great, we have walked out once and almost another couple of times.

Afternoon Tea.... Shocking! AVOID!! although time with my mum is precious and enjoyable that was down to our relationship, the venue was like a canteen very noisy, not welcoming, there was baby running around and banging on tables, there was enough savory sandwiches to feed an ant only, honest it was pathetic!!!!! Mum and I felt this was very very poor for the money.... £50 pounds for 2 afternoon tea and also the scones were the size of a 50 pence piece.... they take your money and give you hardly anything return and you definitely don't feel like it's a treat, I wrote to complain and received a "sorry for you disappointing experience but I am not going to do anything to make it better response.. " from Valeria... which made the whole experience even worse! Do not waste your money please! Awful....FAWSLEY HALL Is the same price but amazing surrounds, and lounge and the double, Triple the amount/ selection of savory snacks.... I WISH I HAD KNOWN THIS BEFORE WASTING MY MONEY... DO NOT GO TO THE ORANGERY FOR AFTERNOON TEA

Thought we might stop here while in the park for lunch. We, unfortunately like several others who sropped to look at the price list, decided not to ! £8.50 for a plain jacket potato, or a samdwich with a small side salad, £12.50 for a cooked breakfast is just shocking in the current climate. Ended up just having to takeaway sized coffees which took a long time to get ! Too many people going in, looking at prices and walking out, although im sure it does plenty of business in the summer !

Very disappointed! Considering the reviews and the price, I was very disappointed with the afternoon tea we had this week. The bread was hard, and there was very little filling in any of the sandwiches. The scones were over baked and more like rock cakes. The cakes were very average. Service was ok, but nothing special. Luckily I was in very good company which was the best bit! We will not be returning.

The Orangery, Located in the largest park in the city center, Delapre Park, situated within the historic Delapre Abbey monastery building. The environment and food are both excellent. The afternoon tea is beautifully presented and has a range of goodies. The sweet treats are perfect size and there really is plenty, you won’t go home hungry! There is a vast range of teas that are constantly topped up throughout your visit. The Orangery itself is a beautiful room with views overlooking the outside garden. Called in with family for a late lunch after walking around the beautiful grounds. Got seated and given menus then ignored by the waitress for 25 mins. Customers arriving after us were seated and orders taken. After 25 mins (we were in no hurry!) I asked a waitress if she could take our order. She said she was looking after another area but would get our waitress. I could see her talking to ‘our’ waitress who then walked off to serve customers at the take-away counter. After another 15 min wait we walked out. Prices are fairly expensive but we are willing to pay for good food and good service. Unfortunately, we experienced neither!

My husband arranged an Afternoon Tea to cheer me up on half-term. It was a disaster. We said no seafood (for the whole tea), they gave my husband a sandwhich without it, then left seafood on mine. They got taken back when we tried to explain it was mentioned as a special request for the whole Afternoon Tea. They replaced the sandwhich and offered something different as my husband is diabetic and needed more carbs as he was feeling unwell. They offered to give us the sandwhiches, only to come back 10 minutes later and tell us there were no more sandwiches and if we wanted something else to order off their other menu. As far as drinks go. I ordered a house special cocktail. It never arrived. Our tea cups and dishes were not clean and absolutely no one offered to refill the tea which they explained was unlimited when we were sat. Nobody cared about us, checked in on us and walked past us constantly without stopping to see if we needed anything. In the end we just walked out as we pre-paid (BTW they had the audacity to ask for a tip before we even got there). We don't intend to go back.

When we pointed out the mistake, we were told that we had a more expensive wine than was listed on the menu. We had to fetch the empty bottle to show the person it was in fact the £32 bottle on the menu before they admitted a mistake. We all make mistakes, it's human. I took my friend for afternoon tea for her 30th birthday. My friend whose birthday it was asked for coffee and we didn’t realise until we left that we had been charged £3.50 for the coffee. We weren’t offered anymore tea and were there over 2 hours. Usually at an afternoon tea the tea keeps flowing or at least expect to be offerrd another fresh cup. I was at delapre today at 11 am (12 nov) with my daughter walking our dogs in the cold and rain. My daughter didn’t feel too well and needed something to eat. I waited outside while she went to buy a snack. The server who served her was rude. My daughter bought a scone £4.50! and asked if she could have it warm. The server muttered there would be a wait for some bizarre reason. My daughter asked for butter and was given a pkt. How can I spread it she asked ? The server said there is a knife there (a wooden picnic knife). The server also made a comment which when my daughter asked her what she said she replied ‘it doesn’t matter’ Now, bearing in mind that for 2 pkts crisps, one cold scone and a small coffee costing £10, which is an absolute ripoff, plus the server’s awful attitude and manner, this to be honest, was well out of order. The server obviously hates her job and should really consider changing her vocation or needs in-depth training on how to be polite to customers who are the restaurant’s bread and butter ! Please take this on board !!!

We were seated quickly by friendly staff and given one menu to share, despite there being a large basket of menus. Our order was taken promptly, and the food came out surprisingly quickly. My Croque Madame was delicious, and my girlfriend was thrilled with her cheese and tomato sandwich. When the drinks eventually turned up, after I’d finished my meal, the coffee was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. We had planned on ordering some pancakes for desert, but all staff appeared to have vanished. I ended up going to for a wander to find someone as we had been waiting 15 minutes. Once the pancakes arrived, they again, were perfectly cooked and we are so glad we ordered. 2nd round of drinks was just as slow. The pancakes were finished by the time the coffee and coke arrived. Lovely venue with great view onto the fields. I would ask that they fix the door coming into winter, it takes a long time to close and gets quite chilly inside when people keep coming in and out. A little more attention to detail when cleaning the glass wouldn’t go amiss either. That said, beautiful food and wonderful setting, I would definitely recommend.

The Orangery is a restaurant/café within Delapre Abbey grounds. If you are walking from the car park, then just go around to the right of the main buildings. We had a southern fried chicken burger which was delicious. Would highly recommend a meal or just coffee and a cake. They also do cream tea, which I have not had but am told is good. You may need to book this in advance. This restaurant is popular and always busy. We were here mid week at around 11:30 and all the tables were full. There is free parking at Delapre Abbey, and some nice walks and a walled garden, if you want to work up an appetite or burn off the calories. Would definitely recommend the Orangery.

Without doubt the most awful experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Went in with my family for some lunch on a sunny morning. The minute we got there the staff all looked miserable and stressed out. It just got worse from there. Staff...

Went there for lunch, staff all looked miserable and stressed. Sat at a table with my 2 year old and pregnant wife. Nobody came to take our order so ordered at the counter. Got scolded by the supervisor for doing that. Sat down, cutlery literally thrown on the table. They then bought all the food out in take out boxes. Told the staff to bring it on plates. Got a smirk from one of the staff. Supervisor eventually came over, apologising through gritted teeth, then accused me of being racist when I described one the rude staffs ethnic origin. Then one of the other staff told me that I didn’t speak to her with any respect. Demanded a refund, to which again they just shook their shoulders and walked off. Was told a manager wasn’t working who miraculously turned up and dealt with the situation in a mature manner. Happily offered a refund and some desserts to take away. Am still considering reporting the supervisor as to be accused of being racist is highly offensive. Without doubt the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my 48 years. If I could give no stars then I would.

Wonderful afternoon tea experience, the food was absolutely delicious and the service was first class. Lewis was so friendly, attentive and knowledgeable with all the speciality teas - we were thoroughly spoilt and will be returning on a regular basis - thank you to all who made our afternoon so special xx

Popped in after a long walk with a friend. Love this place so nice to just sit and look at the grounds. Staff are very friendly and you don't feel as though you are being rushed, would highly recommend.

Absolutely horrendously rude staff which lack any sense of customer service. Sat down and waited to be served for over 15 mins as I was told I couldn’t order my drinks at the counter if I was dining in as it’s table service only. After...

Very nice food, and the restaurant had a good atmosphere. Had to wait 15mins for a table (fine), and order was taken quickly with friendly service. Less good was the 45+min wait for our food to come out. However when it did come out it was very enjoyable.

Afternoon tea for two as voucher gift from son. Excellent service from the waitress who explained the service. Food was fresh, tasty and well presented. Choice of as many teas or coffee as you wished. Although a beautiful building and architecture the room lacked atmosphere and warmth. Not enough to spoil anything and would still recommend. Just my small observation.

⭐️ Beautiful location (especially when the sun is shining). ⭐️ Clean and comfortable seating area indoor. - 50% of staff are unresponsive/slow. - 50% of the menu is rather flavourless. All about who serves you and what you choose to how your experience will be.

Popped in early afternoon for a pint during a brief stop off in the area. Absolutely nothing special, only a couple of other customers. £6.05 for a very average pint of Guinness, would expect to pay that for a pint of craft beer. Where did the 5p come from?
