Good food at a very reasonable price; the helpfulness of the staff, however, is exemplary.

First time having lunch here. Checked out menu recently whilst having a drink. Impressive choice so decided to give it a try fir double birthday celebrations. Booking was advised as very popular. Didn't disappoint in any way. Good access for our friend in wheelchair. Staff really helpful and accommodating. Service not rushed even though was lunch time menu and food was superb. 2.30pm was officially finish of serving but still took order for dessert at 2.45pm. Overall brilliant time and will definitely be returning.

Visited the Bold Dragoon in Weston Favell with good friends on Sunday 20th Oct 2024 for the 1st time. Well, this is a restaurant that you can confidently recommend to your friends and family. It is such a pleasure to have a meal out with friends and be served by attentive staff and get such good quality home cooked food that is full of flavour. This is a busy pub and restaurant and you can see why, it is a place to put on you wish list and that is my recommendation to you. All 6 of us thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch, so give it a try, you won't be disappointed. Also good prices and first class service.

Lunch today, Bold Dragoon, fabulous venue, great service, gentle instrumental music, excellent food, superb value (for retirees!), main course included huge coffee. Couldn't resist the Brownie and ice cream, which we shared! Thank you from Christina and Christopher.

It was a Tuesday evening. The restaurant was quite busy. The food was piping hot, beautifully cooked and full of flavour. No lengthy delays. Every member of staff was cheerful and pleasant but most of all, extremely professional. My first visit but will certainly not be the last. I should imagine it gets very busy at weekends, so recommend booking well in advance.

Very Tasty food; generous portions; nicely presented and perfect service. Couldn't fault the liver or pork belly dishes. Lots of veg. The Banoffee roulade was fabulous. It was a shame it was exceptionally quiet for a Friday evening so we were the only diners to begin with. Haven't been since all the alterations were done and it is a very tasteful and comfortable environment. Would happily bring guests and recommend.

I haven't been to this pub for at least 25 years, and wow, what a difference! The garden is lovely, and the new rear dining room extension is fantastic. Food's lovely, beer is good, and the service was very friendly.

I went for the Moulton Morris Men who were fantastic! The pub has had a lovely makeover but I am only giving a 2 rating for the poor bar service. We were in the snug. I waited several minutes for bar staff. I ended up shouting “is anyone serving?” as no-one came. The young man finally arrived and told me I was rude! I was told by others in the bar that it was often difficult to get a drink in the snug as the bar staff prefer to stand in the main bar. Get a bell maybe?

I visited the Bold Dragoon with my husband in May, and we had a great experience, so we returned with our family with high standards. Overall, all 6 of us were extremely satisfied with the service. The food was outstanding. Once again, all of the staff were extremely friendly. Although the restaurant was fully booked, the staff made sure all of the customers were well looked after.

Went to an 80th birthday party here..and I'll be back . Absolutely superb food, (and plenty of it)friendly helpful staff even let me loose on their fancy digital piano! Beautifully presented tables and it wasn't too hot! Extremely impressed.. mushroom starter, delicious, seabass cooked to perfection and excellent vegetables. Just managed a Very tasty sticky toffee pudding.

Won’t be visiting again. Unreasonable rule that bar menu only available in the bar. My elderly disabled guest wanted scampi but is unable to access any of the bar seating. So we had to sit in the restaurant but were told we must use the restaurant menu. It was quiet, not at all busy and staff definitely not overworked. Service was slow and staff were dismissive and unhelpful. Not the warm welcome we were led to expect.

We live close by and like the menu choices and the decor. Service was friendly and the sea bass enjoyable. Not our first visit or our last.

Lots of little annoying things, like smothering the oily dressing on a salad without asking and they cleared away the table even though one friend was still eating! I did point it out. They started a lighter meal menu but when we ordered from it, they said the chef was still cooking it, so it was not ready, they also wont allow you to eat from the bar menu in the restaurant which I find a bit disappointing when their burger and chips is the best choice. Having said that I would go there again as its convenient.

Had a lovely Sunday treat with family. Good tasty roasts, excellent amount on the plate, service great and it is such a lovely dining area. Thank you to all at the Bold Dragoon.

We went for dinner, service and food excellent. No complaints at all. I remember how the old restaurant area was. Now it is so much bigger and well laid out. One small thing to the owners, please either plant some flowers in the pots that have half dead flowers or remove them completely. The little bush at the entrance is very sad looking. So more welcoming to see some lovely flowers. In all a good evening out.

Had a lovely meal here for Father’s Day. Group of 8 and everything went smoothly. Service was amazing and the everything came out in a timely fashion We all had the Sunday lunch and the servings were huge. Plenty of veg to go round and the yorkshires were amazing. Reasonable priced for the quality and quantity of the food. Recommend!

If you were to look up the phrase "don't fix what isn't broken", it's very likely you would see a picture of The Bold Dragoon. I had previously left a very positive review for the location but it seems a change in management and a change in direction for the restaurant has completely ruined what was once a cozy and family friendly environment where you could purchase a meal at an affordable price. The Bold Dragoon has tried to redirect it's focus to being a fine dining establishment, very jarringly so. Starting with the biggest change: The menu. Previously offering large portions at outstanding value, the new menu offers terrible value for money, with an individual main course starting at around £15 and the meals often occupying less than half the space available on the plate. Not finding many meals I'd enjoy on the new menu without modifications or spending more money than I was comfortable spending, I opted for the lasagne. A staple meal in many restaurants and one that I consider a relatively safe bet. What I got was a small bowl of lasagne which I was able to compare in quality to a premade one purchased at the supermarket. Had my party not also opted to order a shared salad and chips, I imagine I would have come away from the meal still very hungry. There really wasn't anything exciting here. While I enjoyed my meal I certainly felt like I spent too much on it. Going to the service, this was very disappointing for me. After taking our order, our waiter returned to our table twice to try and upsell us on sides before we even had our food. I'm unsure if this individual was still in training but it really felt like a manager or supervisor had pushed him to keep trying to squeeze money out of patrons in the restaurant. After our meals came, he briefly stopped by a few minutes later to check if there were any issues. We advised him we were fine but within a couple of minutes, another member of staff who hadn't interacted with us until this point also came up to us to ask the same thing. Multiple interruptions such as this regularly pulled my party out of their conversation. Let's talk about atmosphere next: the Bold Dragoon is your stereotypical idea of an English pub, however the atmosphere change when you walk into a restaurant hits you like a truck. What was previously a lovely conservatory-like dining area had been replaced with a regal looking walled in area with high ceilings and glass doors facing the outdoor sitting area. I felt completely underdressed since the pub lends no indication that the restaurant experience was like that. It was almost like I'd entered a different establishment entirely! It felt tacky and tasteless. Even more so than the page in the menu that showed photos of the old conservatory getting demolished and the new area getting erected. In trying to be something it's not, The Bold Dragoon has completely lost sight of what people loved about it to begin with. And I can't in good conscience leave my previous review up since it's now so misleading, and I don't want my review to be something that tricks people into going somewhere which has changed so much for the worst. I wish the owners and staff at the Bold Dragoon all the best with their new direction, but I do not foresee myself returning anytime soon. It has lost the spirit of what made it such a draw in the first place.

Fantastic evening at the Bold Dragoon. Friends recommended us. My husband had the steak and stilton pie and I had the marinated breast of chicken. They were both delicious. The staff were phenomenal and pleasant. The young staff members showed attentive care with myself and my husband. I will definitely be back. We asked where we could share our great experience and told TripAdvisor. Jolly good service and a nice evening

Had Sunday lunch here yesterday for the first time! The restaurant is tastefully decorated, the food was excellent quality and well presented and the service Jo gave us was very professional and friendly. Thank you. We have already recommended you to friends and we will definitely come again!

Fantastic hidden gem on the outskirts of Northampton. Amazing food, great service, and a really well presented village pub. Dog friendly too.

It is a beautiful restaurant and the piano playing in the background makes it. Good choices of food and all of our four meals and desserts was excellent. All the staff are very friendly.

Excellent Friday evening sat in the spacious garden with very tasty pizza and a very cold campo lager the whole of the pub was very busy but service was quick and very polite

Beautifully refurbished. Delicious food. Excellent service.

Beautiful refurb, the staff and atmosphere were great. Went for dinner Saturday lunchtime in the restaurant. Chilled vibe staff were excellent. Best thing was the food though. I should have taken a picture to post, it looked as good as it tasted - it was absolutely delicious and generous portion too. I had boeuf bourguignon, delicious tender chunks of beef but everything looked great as I looked at the other tables! Sticky toffee pudding also lovely. Was all piping hot - their system works! Menu not huge but easily something for everyone and the kitchen clearly know how to prepare the dishes! A real treat - recommended.

Alright regulars pub UPDATE - 6-Feb-2019 Visited yesterday evening, and had a good meal; good selection of beers.

6 of us went there last night and it was great. Great staff and service, great food and great atmosphere.

First visit after the recent renovation - the place has been transformed. Still informal in the bar area, but the old conservatory is now a smart restaurant, with food and service to match. Highly recommended.

Around Christmas I had some wonderful meals with family and friends, the food and service was excellent, from Christmas menu and main menu. However, last Sunday we went with friends for Sunday lunch, very poor. Wrong information about times. Food not very hot, vegetables hardly cooked. (I had pointed out they were hard on a previous visit, this time we could hardly cut the cauliflower cheese!).Very long wait, took 2 hours to have main, dessert, and get bill. Choice was poor. Family ate there later and said the same, plus cod dish was lacking in cod, small portion, and microwaved. Same issues with veg. Only gets 2 stars in the hope they up their game and get back to previous standard.

Not really my kinda pub. Really friendly. Dog friendly in the bar & lounge. Nice locals in there. Felt like £18 for a salad was a bit pricey… So we left. Parking for about 10 cars. A prime example of a pub that’s been swallowed up by development. Not the best looking building from the outside, it’s what’s on the inside that matters right? .. the pub got knocked to make the road wider down and then rebuilt.. 19th century pub) Summit like that. I’ve read about too many pubs, been to too many too. Haha.

Visited with my mate as itbwas raining and we needed somewhere to hide from work. Atmosphere is incredibly warm and welcoming, live fire!!! And been approached and server within 5 minutes by a friendly staff! Great hiding place 👌 😀

Very smartly refurbished pub with a large restaurant area. Good pub food from a fairly limited menu at lunchtime. Will certainly go back.

The new restaurant dining area is spacious and beautifully done. We had a starter and Sunday roast. My roast beef was tender and plenty of vegetables. We ordered cauliflower cheese as an extra. Quality of food was very good overall and so was the service. Would not hesitate to return.

Have visited a few times over the past week after being a regular of a nearby pub for a number of years. The Bold Dragoon is a great local pub. Atmosphere is brilliant, the food is great and have felt welcome each and every time I have visited. I love that it is owned by three locals, rather than a big brewery. Just disappointed that I have not tried it out any sooner!

The refurbishment is amazing we had a really great time it's very homely.

Having had bad experiences at previous pubs on boxing day . We decided to try the Bold Dragoon last boxing day , right decision. Nice ambience , very friendly and smart waitresses, and most important the meal was superb. Certainly be going back again in the near future.

Love the recenr renovations - only popped in for a drink with my son but it was friendly and welcoming.

Can't really answer what the food was like because I couldn't get any in the bar at 19.00 hrs The reason being they were serving the restaurant. I felt really upset that I come out for an evening and just wanted something light before all the rich food of xmas to be I couldn't have anything.

What a great pub, the owners have exceeded anyone's expectations. Super refit, great and friendly atmosphere with a big selection of food and drink. Well worth a visit.

A group of 35 of us from St. Alban's Church visited the newly refurbished Restaurant 48 last week and we had a wonderful evening. The room looked great , the food was excellent and the service by Tanya and her team was superb. Very strongly recommended.

The Bold Dragoon has had a massive refurbishment, absolutely beautiful inside. Food excellent, some training needed for the staff as we ordered cappuccino coffees with a brandy, but they put the brandy in the coffee. Very friendly staff and all problems sorted. Would definitely go back and would recommend anyone to visit.

We booked the Bold for a small funeral wake and the food was absolutely lovely - buffet and loads of it. Would thoroughly recommend for any small private party or similar event.

Food was absolutely superb! Visited at lunchtime, the restaurant section was lovely and intimate and really quiet when we visited. Every part of the meal was just perfect, presentation was great and the portion sizes were really generous, will definitely be coming again!

A delighful pub newly renovated. Have enjoyed two meals here. Very good food. Charming waitresses and bar staff. Further renovations are in hand in the restaurant area. Watch this space for further news and views.

The people were incredibly rude. Staff gave priority to locals despite standing for a good 10 minutes waiting to be served a drink. All felt highly uncomfortable. Avoid!

A nice recently refurbished pub with great choice of ales and a friendly atmosphere

Recently had a refurb and it looks and feels great. Lovely family pub with a nice garden good service. Even the normal clientel seem helpful and polite. Great place to take family or friends or a night out with the guys. The split bar is great for splitting customers in to the areas and mood they feel at the time! The one negative is that it is expensive compared to others in the area

Service attentive. Good quality Christmas lunch. Clean and well presented surroundings.

Good number of real ales that are kept well - food generally good Update on 6 December 2022 Just been here and it has had a major upgrade. The new owners have clearly spent a lot of money with good effect.
