The 3 course auberge meals are very good value for a special occasion. The menu is fixed and is published in advance. The main menu is relatively expensive but you are allowed to buy from it.

The service is as good as the food, a good choice and high quality presented to show the skills and professionalism of all the staff. From the booking to the bill nothing was below excellent. Strongly recommended soufflé which was as good as previously tried. Not overly expensive but worth every penny, we will be back again. A great birthday experience

Amazing meal was had by all. Scallops for starters with black pudding were some of the biggest we have ever been served and they were delicious. Portion sizes were just right, service was impeccable, country location surrounded by beautiful houses. Looking forward to visiting again already. I must say - liquorice panna cotta was amazing, this is without a doubt the best pudding I've had in such a long time, i couldn't put it down. Team loved the night so thank you to all the team.

We celebrated a special birthday with lunch at the Joiners Arms, we were offered a set menu for £43.50 per head which was good but missing some of the dishes from their main menu, however we were not disappointed with the food, the scallops with black pudding was amazing and cooked perfectly, beef medallions were also amazing and cooked to perfection. For dessert I had blueberry soufflé which I found too sweet but my son had chocolate fondant with was delicious. My husband had strawberries which were a little sour so he couldnt eat them but overall a lovely meal and very good and friendly service. A little pricey for a lunch but the food was very nice.

What can I say, I cannot fault this place. Fabulous food, fabulous place and fabulous staff! We travel an hour and a half to get there and we’ve been a few times now and I can honestly say it never fails to impress. Yesterdays meal topped them all for me though. I had the sea bass, my partner the halibut, followed by the liquorice panacotta and crème brûlée. Wow, absolutely perfect, 10/10 and I could eat it all again right now! Can’t add photos of our dessert as we ate it before I thought about it 😅 Looking forward to our next visit!!

Not sure what all the fuss is about, we were left distinctively underwhelmed. It is clearly a regulars venue and they are all greeted warmly on arrival, however we as newbeeies not so much. The man who I guess was the restaurant manager, was devoid of personality and appeared to make a point of not interacting with us, even though the restaurant was empty. 2 courses were served in less than 30 minutes totally unnecessary and to me a clear indication we were not welcome. What a missed opportunity to get to know some new potential customers by making them feel special. Would not recommend.

My friend and I travelled 2 hours each (met in the middle of the country) to have lunch here and we were not disappointed. The greeting was warm and professional. The bread I assume was homemade was lovely. In fact our starters of scallops for my friend and chicken liver pate for me was delicious, we both chose sea bass -again very nice. We were to full up for dessert however very impressed when we saw some of the desserts bought out for other customers-looked like works of art. If ever I was in the area again would definitely make a reservation here and would recommend to anyone. Envious of people living nearby as a great place to eat.

From the staff to the food, it has been amazing. A Saturday night meal out with my wife, have wanting to visit for a long time but only just got round to it. First impressions were great - a nice welcome, given a choice of tables from friendly staff. We both had three courses and and enjoyed every course, leaving very full! If I’m being very picky, the Guinness I ordered was a bit strange, not a creamflow Guinness that you would get in any pub in a England, it had a foam head, not the best. The steak I had was great but a little chewy on one side so I think could have been rendered down a little more - I also ordered medium rare and and they gave me medium but by this point the food is being served and I just want to eat it not send it back! The rest of the dish and other 2 courses were absolutely top notch. All in all a great night out and will be back.

My sister and her husband treated to Sunday lunch at this venue as a birthday treat. We arrived at 12:20 lunchtime to a deserted dining room set up ready for lunch. The place filled up rapidly and there was a gentle murmur of conversation as people tucked into their lunch. The food was delicious. There was a good range of options for every course. I had the melon and sorbet starter which was fine, the beef and vegetables to follow was fresh, properly cooked and well presented, Finally I had the liquorice panacota with blackberry sorbet which was sublime. I couldn't fault the food and neither could any of the seven us sat round the table find cause for complaint. The owner here has got his act together and is running a well organised eating establishment. I heartily recommend this place as a venue to try food that is a cut above the rest.Prices were a little on the high side but this was reflected in the standard of the food, the service and the venue. All of which were excellent. It was a delightful lunch.

Although the online reviews were promising, we had no prior experience of what it was like. Straight away it gave the impression of being very well run. The meals were excellent value. Whilst not Cordon Blue, nor are the prices, and the food was well above the average pub restaurant food both in in quality and imagination. I am sure if it was in a large conurbation rather than a small village prices would be much higher.

We booked the Joiners this week to celebrate our wedding anniversary.Sadly it didn’t live up to previous experiences. The lady who welcomed us and served the drinks was very friendly and polite. The waitress who served our food was less engaging, polite, just not great. Great service is as important as the food. The food, I had cod cheeks, they were really small, very over cooked and served in an unpleasant batter, on hindsight I wish I had sent them back, the chick peas and chorizo they were served on were very tasty. My husband had Field mushroom with poached egg and toast, this was OK, but the toast was extremely small and over cooked. The sirloin steak was OK, the steak knife could have been sharper, the home cooked chunky chips were very good. My seabream was very nice but surprised that the crab ravioli that was served with it was crispy, strange. All in all the experience did not live up to expectation so doubt we will go back.

The Joiners is comfortable and classic, and a pleasant relief from over-modernised pub restaurants. A shortish menu and an extensive blackboard provide a great range of choices of interesting and tasty dishes. Scallops with Conakilty black pudding were particularly good, as was Welsh Hake. Went as a couple on a lunch time. It was a special occasion for us so we went al a Carte...my pigeon starter seemed a bit over cooked, duck terrine was good but needed more toast. Chicken supreme was ok. I wanted the lamb, but when I asked for it I was told there wasn’t any!! Very annoying! I went for the steak and it came medium, when I asked for rare it was disappointing. I didn’t say anything at the time because what do you do to correct that...? Cook a new one? meanwhile your partner eats their food, then you eat yours after..? Not my idea of a celebratory meal out. We had ice cream for dessert. We had pre dinner drinks, a bottle of wine and another glass of wine. The service was absolutely spot on. But the food was a bit underwhelming, considering the reviews and with a bill of over £100. I suggest going for the set menu which would be much better value for money.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch here, the food and service were excellent. For starters we had the mushrooms and the chicken liver pate, which was delicious. The mains were roast beef and Yorkshire pudding and one in our party had the cod. The vegetables were served separately, so everyone could take as much or as little as they liked. The only thing I would say is that the portion size of the roast and the vegetables were huge, so there was quite a lot of food waste as no-one could finish their serving. Which also meant that we had no space for desserts. Also it is not a cheap restaurant, but worth it for good quality food.

Having been at least once a month this year, the scallops never fail, and have recently had the prawns - delicious. The fish is always very well cooked and presented. Highly recommend for a local restaurant.

It is about half way for me to meet some friends and we meet there every year. It has never disappointed. I recall the souffle dessert the most - two years running. We were three and nobody did anything but sing their praise.

The cafe is permanently shut and has been converted to an outside bar only used in the summer. It needs to be removed from Tripadvisor. Fortunately, they still do a nice pot of tea in the bar
