Insomnia in Harborough

First time visiting Insomnia today I tried the Thai Soup and it really was delicious. My friends had coffee and said it was really nice Great service too Thanks Guys 😊

Overall, the café is not bad, but the tables are covered with centuries-old dirt, to which you stick with your sleeves, and the chairs are like those after Armageddon. In general, I can't rate it any higher due to the dirt.

Great place when it is quiet, as with everywhere, not so fun when it gets busy...

Nice and comfortable place for coffee and tea in the heart of the Market Harborough town centre.

Got married on the 28/10/2023 we booked for us to have drinks and cake they had done the place up lovely for us looked after us very well would recommend to book the place

Popped in to meet some old friends and we received excellent service, some lovely drinks and snacks and the young server called Charly was so helpful

Popped in for a coffee to give this place a try to find a young server with long dark flowing hair sitting on the work surface! Needless to say I didn’t bother getting any food! 🤢 do you have any health and hygiene in place ??

Average coffee (ie not good!) and very average cheese & onion pasty.

The place was quiet But staff still didn’t clear the tables My table was clear but the top was sticky - poor standard of cleaning I wouldn’t bother again

This is without a doubt the most friendly coffee shop ever. They serve the most amazing coffee and I have been so impressed with the flavor that the Insomnia coffee is my choice for drinking at home. I must be honest, I have had some difficulty in obtaining the pre packed ground coffee but the manager at the Market Harborough shop has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help me. I have had to temporally use the pre bagged Insomnia Coffee Beans and the manager has even offered to grind the beans for me. How's that for service, take my word for it this is the best coffee shop in Market Harborough and probable for miles around.

Absolutely love the coffee here and staff are so friendly! The cakes are also delicious I would highly recommend the chocolate brownies, great place to relax and chill catch up with friends, so glad I found this place!

Lovely staff who are always a delight to see. Great coffee, amazing brownie and toasted wrap is a game changer. Take my daughter here and it’s great for the pram as I can always tuck ourselves somewhere.

Popped in today with family, it was warm and welcoming just like the workers. The two girls Emma and Abbie were just perfect with great big smiles and very helpful. Emma suggested drinks and got me just the taste i was looking. I could see how busy they were and how well they worked to still give fast service. Will be returning and hopefully see those two sweet girls again.

Lovely big comfortable seating and tables. Very spacious! Excellent coffees and drinks menu to choose from. Staff super friendly and efficient. So nice to actually find somewhere to sit back, relax and drink a nice coffee while chatting. Toilets next door in the attached council offices absolutely spotless. Recommended!

Coffee made by children who know nothing about Coffee and actually don't seem to care....if you like mediocre Coffee in a nice building then this is your place of destination.

I take an elderly lady here for coffee. The staff know her and always give excellent service.

On arrival there were few free tables the tables that were free had the last customers dirty cups left on. The three staff members spent the time chatting at the end of the bar . Not one of them went and collected any dirty mugs or disinfected the tables and stayed chatting to each other . With being closed for so long because of covid i would of thought that the standards of cleanliness would of been upkept to protect there customers and themselves or for just basic hygenie should be upheld surely or am i expecting to much,

Absolutely delicious coffee and cakes. We've been twice now and their Americano and decaffeinated latte are best in town. Lovely, friendly and polite staff. Highly recommend.

The coffee area was quiet, and as a new visitor I wondered why. It is nicely decorated, lovely and light. As I went to the counter (and since read a few reviews I’m here) I can see why this business isn’t busy and thriving. The members of staff really don’t appear to care about the customers or how their actions are seen. All of the staff were sat on the worktop behind the counter….. a health and hygiene risk surely….Either on their phones or chatting. As I approached I felt like they were deciding who would draw the short straw and get down off the worktop to serve me. I felt like an inconvenience to them. I work in a coffee shop in my home town so know that these customers are paying my wages! It felt like it was lacking in some sort of management. I wonder where the owners/managers are, and do they know the current staff are clearly taking the pi@@ and getting away with the bare minimum.

Bad service, been twice and had to wait half hour for a cup of tea when it was busy, then popped in first thing when it opened for a coffee and was told had to wait 10-15 minutes as the coffee machine wasn't up and running yet! Should really be ready for when it opens! Bad management, plenty of other cafes to go to in town with much better service.

I visit cafes and coffee shops very often, but Insomnia in Market Harborough is by far the one I frequent the most, and serves the only coffee that I personally really, really enjoy. They are often very busy (which speaks for itself), and I have found in other coffee shops that this can sometimes make for an overwhelming and hectic atmosphere. But I have never felt this to be the case with Insomnia; even when they are heaving with customers, it is still a lovely and welcoming place to visit. There is a brilliant range of cakes, snacks, and light bites, and they accommodate different dietary requirements without hassle. The décor is pretty and bright, the chairs are comfortable, the layout is cosy, and all-in-all, it is a charming little café that fast became the favourite of mine (and multiple others who I know). However, I think that a lot of the above - the charm, and the atmosphere - can be credited to the staff members, and I absolutely cannot write any sort of review without commenting on them. The young men and women who keep this place running so smoothly deserve the greatest commendations. They all do an incredible job. As with all customer-facing roles, it can be difficult at the best of times. But I have never seen the staff be anything other than kind and warm, attentive to their customers, friendly and approachable, all while maintaining professionalism and delivering brilliant customer service. They all do such a great job and I admire their work ethics, as well as appreciate their kindness, very much. I have lost count of the amount of times where there is a rush of customers, with endless drinks on order and hot food being delivered to tables. It definitely cannot be easy, but the staff are excellent. Not one of them can be faulted on their service, and if I were the owners, I would be incredibly proud to have all of them work for me.

Ok, range of foods was not usual standard and there was only one member of staff serving, making drinks and cleaning the tables - poor girl!. Try the coalville branch which is surprisingly the nicer cafe.

Called at Insomnia with my elderly parents( my dad is also disabled). My parents sat outside whilst I went to get our drinks. On entering the lad serving was talking to what where obviously a couple of friends. I waited at the till and he came to serve without actually acknowledging me. After he had made our drinks I asked for a tray and he asked where I was sitting when I replied outside he sighed and said he was about to bring the furniture in as they closed at 4.pm this was at 3.05pm !!! I told him my dad couldn't get in and walked away from the counter only to hear him say rather sarcastically " do you want a straw, no ok thanks bye then ". After taking our drinks out he came a few minutes later to speak to his friends who were waiting outside. It was made obvious he was discussing us. A couple of ladies came and sat outside closely followed by the lad who on seeing them sit down stood tutting and making it plainly obvious he wasn't happy. They remarked that he had an attitude while serving them aswell. He then came out again and started clearing the furniture that wasn't being used making us all feel very uncomfortable to the point we all left. I work in hospitality and have to say his attitude and customer service rated a zero. The clue is in the title mate, if you can't be hospitable to the customers who pay your wages I suggest you stay clear of that trade and find another job. We will not be returning anytime soon.

Came here twice for meetings, both times it was young staff that seem to not care. They were mopping around customers 20 minutes before closing time on one of the days. Second time I came I didn't have a coffee as I wouldn't ever pay for that again! Decor very bright and busy. Not much else to say.

Visiting Insomnia used to be our regular treat each week, driving out from Kettering some 10 miles away. We would enjoy a great coffee and cake/sandwich while sitting in comfortable armchairs. Sadly this has all changed partly due to C.virus but there is now very little choice of food and what armchairs are left are very grubby. Sadly it's no longer our weekly treat.

Honestly this place isn't even worth 1 star, absolute lack of respect for staff and customers.. I over heard the staff moaning about pay, the equipment they have or haven't got... I actually felt sorry for them A lady walked in, who spoke to staff in a very manner, she wasn't exactly discreet about it either, so unprofessional. She walked behind the counter, so could only presume she was the owner. You could see the embarrassment on the poor girls face, as she was spoken down too. I wouldn't even speak to my cat like that let alone a human... I hope this place isn't here for long, or they find some more respectful owners who know how to treat staff.........

Nice, relaxed lounge-style coffee shop with plenty of armchairs in one of Market Harborough's finest buildings. Decorated with sewing machines, celebrating the building's former use as a corset factory. Lovely big windows to look out onto the street with. Oh, and the coffee is good too! And they do a white hot chocolate. Why don't more places do that!? Thumbs up.

I visited this coffee house with my family in market Harborough and we all had a fantastic experience. The supervisor, Amy, showed exceptional service. She always had a smile on her face and was kind enough to bring our coffee’s over to us. I highly recommend Insomnia, the coffee was lovely and the staff were very friendly. Will visit again.

We regularly pop into Harborough for ice-cream or cake. I didn;t know this place existed, its in the Symington building so a little hidden unless you know its there. We had an appointment in town and fancied cake before we left, but it was new years eve and everywhere was either shut, or the usual chains were bursting, full of people on computers who were sat with empty coffee cups taking up tables, so it was only by chance that we found insomnia. Drinks are a little overpriced, over £2 for a small orange juice etc. However although it was late afternoon and they had sold out of many things, we all found something we liked. The croissants were huge, served warm with butter, my husband had carrot cake which was really nice, and i had the lovely raspberry and coconut slice- i could have eaten several more portions its so nice! The environment is lovely, lots of large comfy chairs, some booths so you can choose to sit in a quieter area for a little more privacy. Staff were friendly and efficient and its wheelchair friendly. We would definately visit again.

I've had a stressful few days and needed a break, we went in for treat and a young man called Logan served me.. He was kind professional and very helpful with the seasonal drink I had ordered. I wish more young people would be so helpful.

There are few places that are memorable amongst such a tide of very similar establishments, this place was very popular with the crowds

Great friendly staff, lovely, if a little pricey drinks. Tables and chairs could be cleaner--not always wiped /hoovered, and the toilet, by midday is not always as clean as it could be.

Popped in for a quick snack and had a cheese and onion toastie. I think it's the worst one I've ever had. Hardly any filling and dry as a bone. The drinks are fine, but you might be better to go elsewhere if you're hungry!

They do snacks however I have only had coffee here which has always had a different nice taste and is an independent coffee shop which I great

Often overcrowded cafe just off the high street below the library. Decent snacks and typical drinks menu, but with the inclusion of a really tasty chai latte! Worth a visit and probably a cut above the branded coffee shops, at least in atmosphere if not in it's products.

I'm really feed up with people using cafés as their offices. I don't want to sit next to someone with computers , files and discussing businesses on their phone. We have been coming here since it opened but unless the management stops this practice it could be our last time. Sorry.

Located on the ground floor of the council offices, this well appointed coffee bar provides excellent coffee as well as snacks and cakes.

Coffee not warm, very strong and only half a mug full, rest was froth. Manager very rude when I complained . Won't be going back.

Happened to be walking by and ducked in here to avoid the rain and found a little haven of pleasure! Lovely decor, relaxed atmos would happily sit in here with a book for a couple of hours. Lovely Americano and latte. My other half loved his tuna toastie and I had a large toasted teacake, bitter and jam. Prices reasonable, young friendly and efficient staff. Will come again!

Coffee too strong and not very warm staff was rude when complained hot food was microwaved and not at all appetising no recommendation other than to find somewhere else, plenty of nicer places in the square and surrounding areas some with better prices and much better food.

We only dropped into Insomnia as the independents we usually go to were full. The decor was bright and the place looked welcoming however there weren’t too many tables for two so we sat on a sofa next to another couple. Conversation was stilted. The flat white coffee was fine the cake was just OK. Would not hurry back.

I ordered a drink which was horrid and left me feeling very sick. I ordered a caramel ice cap. I had had this drink before and enjoyed it. This time it tasted horrid no flavour at all just a cup of cream with no flavour. I was sick after drinking this. I complained and was told that my taste buds must of changed! Horrid experience

Popular and well run Irish Coffee House. A bit dark and dingy down one end of the lounge but, otherwise, a pleasant environment. A reasonable selection of cakes and other goodies available.

Bit pricey and manager rude to his staff. Other staff members helpful though.

This is a non chain coffee shop who also have lovely snacks and I believe are also open evenings for drinks and cocktails. The coffee they sell is a very nice mix and should be tried, it's the only place I drink coffee in MH.

Quality of the Millionaire Peanut Shortcake and Americano is is a treat, pricey but nice. The cafeteria is lacking Ambiance feel, some music to raise the spirit as the decor is starving of much needed lift-me-up factor. Otherwise, five stars

This place has a really relaxed and comfy vibe. Take a newspaper and chill with a great cup of coffee. The cakes however were rather dry and disappointing. They didn't taste fresh and I'm sure were not homemade. Never the less, you can enjoy a light lunch for a reasonable price. Worth a relaxing moment!

Insomnia is in my opinion one of the best, if not THE best place in harborough, to meet friends for coffee, clean and comfortable, excellent service, staff are very welcoming, will be returning very soon.

Have visited a number times to meet friends and for 8nfor all meetings. Staff always friendly and helpful. Decaf americano is available if you prefer and I noted that there is an oat milk, hot drink available for vegans (noted for when a family member visits). Comfortable seating. Have only sampled the warm, buttered tea cakes.

I asked for a brandy, which I could see on the shelf. No problem with the separate till but wasn't served as the staff couldn't access the alcohol till?! Yet wine was being served..I felt like the staff just couldn't be bothered

My cake was good, friends had to send theirs back as they'd been given the 'end' slices, but it's not a good sign when a red velvet cake is dry and stale, even then.

Went with family last week. Nice coffee and cake, reasonable prices and nice atmosphere. Would visit again.
