Just been charged Ā£9:30 for a pint of fosters shandy? A bit pricey in my mind. On and off me and the wife have been here a number of times mostly for Sunday lunch but I don't think we will be returning.

Enjoyed a lovely breakfast here this week. Iāve actually been a few times and itās always been good. The service feels like whomever is hiring or training the staff, really wants them to care about their customers. Both of us enjoyed our eggs benedict and watermelon iced tea. The eggs were perfect and runny. Yum. We noticed that there is a happy hour with cocktails, so we might try that next time!

Doesn't look much from the car park. Go through the arch to the beer garden, it's like the wardrobe to Narnia. Open fronted glamping pod, table in a boat, an unbelievable Hobbit house, fully furnished, with books in a bookcase. Go down the steps to the garden terrace overlooking the bay. Comfy and sheltered seating, with stunning views. Is dog friendly too. The beer is no worse a price than tourist places. And is a decent pint. Ignore the naysayers. It's a very pleasant place for relaxing with a drink. We will be returning.

Having walked on the Wye Valley Greenway from Tintern Abbey, we needed lunch in Chepstow. The Ugly Mug cafe fitted the bill perfectly. Table service was very welcome and food was excellent. Had the BLT sandwich while others had the Cheese and Onion sandwich, plus toasted teacakes. Very friendly people running the place. Dog friendly too. Could not ask for more

Lots of 2010 memorabilia and a nice touch is all the balls have the course logo on, but you will lose some balls on the course. Some great holes to be played but their is a lot of sand so beware, one of our team wished he ha brought a bucket & spade with him as his balls seemed to be attracted too the sand !!

Christmas lunch 2023, Ā£90 per head. Utter disappointment and a truly Fawlty Towers-esque experience. We had to laugh as it was Christmas Day but it was really awful. No one in reception, sign saying go to the bar. No one in the bar, eventually found a passing member of staff and we were directed to where Christmas lunch was happening. Through a door with a large sign saying ātoiletsā past a kitchen set up and into what I assume is their banqueting space. We managed to catch someoneās eye and rather than being shown to our table we were waved in the general direction and had to please ourselves. After ten minutes of just sitting there I had to get up and ask a nearby waitress to take our drinks order. She seemed a little bit surprised we wanted drinksā¦ Eventually some drinks arrived but it would take four more times asking for some water for the table before it came. Starters came out eventually and were fine. We then thought it would be nice to have some wineā¦. Me- could we have some wine please? Waitress- ā¦ā¦ā¦.. Me- do you have a wine list? Waitress- ā¦..not really a wine list noā¦ā¦ what were you thinking ofā¦ā¦. Me- maybe some white wine? Nice and dry? Maybe something from New Zealand? Waitress- ermā¦. I think we have a Pinot?? I donāt know about wine, Iām the wedding plannerā¦.. Me- ok letās try the Pinotā¦ Screw top of Italian Pinot Grigio plonked on the table and three glasses plonked down upside downā¦.. By this point we really needed the wine! Mains were served, plated turkey dinner. We wait patiently for the dish of veg seen in the middle of all the other tables. It doesnāt arrive. I catch the eye of the waitress and enquireā¦. In her words āhmmm, they have run out of veg and thereās no more. Iām not sure what the plan isā¦.ā No apology, nil, nada. Not five mins later we see veg sailing out to other tablets. At this point not even the wine is enough to soothe and we managed to ask the only sensible member of staff in the place, who magics up some veg asap. I could go on but I wonāt. What the experience lacked in terms of service, it make up for in sheer comedy value but was daylight robbery for what we actually had. Hey ho! Update- very kindly the venue read my review and got back to me directly without me having to chase. They kindly refunded the cost of a bottle of wine and Ā£15 per head. To be clear, the food was fine, I think we expected a little more for the price though, maybe a glass of fizz on arrival, coffee and petit fours after the meal etc. Kelly was fab on the day and when replying. The rest of the service was poor as described as above.

I decided to pop in to Y Sied for lunch. Until then I had only ever visited there for coffee and maybe a cake - which are always scrummy. Today I had the gorgeous Bacon Maple pancakes. Just the right size for my lunch.

This is a very pleasant pub with great food. We always make a point of visiting when we are staying on the Gower. Staff are always pleasant and helpful and on this occasion we were looked after very well by Matilda. The mocktails were great fun and made up for not being able to have a drink when driving. Food is well -cooked with good options. Excellent choices for vegetarians, vegans and GF as well
