As guests at the hotel, we visited on our last night with no problems being seated without a booking. We both had starters and mains (steaks) and all good ordered was absolutely beautiful. We came away very full and very impressed.

From the moment we entered the restaurant to leaving the service was first class. The food was amazing too and there was a good selection of wines and drinks on offer. For main course I had the cauliflower and red pepper curry with wild rice, which was incredible. The decor and atmosphere were ‘old school’ and our whole visit felt like a wonderful step back in time to when values mattered. Thank you Hansoms. We’ll be back for another visit, next time we’re in Beaumaris.

The food was excellent but the service was poor unfortunately. The staff were very pleasant but just didn’t seem to know what they were doing. It wasn’t busy. They weren’t familiar with the menu and didn’t know what sides went with the meals when serving so we weren’t sure who should be eating what. I had to ask for the prawns that were missing from my meal. They came out after on a side plate. They had a dish delivered to a wrong table which meant they had to recook one of our meals. They should’ve recooked all of them so we all got our food together rather than one person waiting whilst everyone else ate. A shambles for a hotel restaurant. The food was excellent though so we’re going to give it another try and hope for a better experience.

We were looking forward to eating a meal (4 meals) but Joe Hughes in the black was so intolerably rude on two occasions we decided to eat somewhere else. He seemed particularly keen to repel anyone interested in spending any money. On a side note, thé tables outside were all loaded with empty glasses- there was no interest in keeping on top of things and clearing up. Baffling how little they wanted any guests.

I knew I wanted to try the Welsh lamb and what better way to experience this than for Sunday lunch? Although this is a hotel, the restaurant is open to all and is actually really good value for money. The lamb I had was superb with a unique flavour and so tender. It came with a variety of different vegetables with both roast and boiled potatoes, delicious gravy and of course mint sauce. Service was good too - all in all a really healthy and tasty lunch.

Last minute booking and we were not really dressed for such a fine dining experience but it didn't seem to matter to anyone. An excellent Sunday lunch with the bonus of a pianist in the corner playing jazzy, classic pop tunes until at least 3pm when we left very full and happy. My lamb, which can often be cut thin and too fatty was like two pieces of fillet steak – very lean and tender. Good mix of vegetables and tasty 'new' potatoes (which I usually avoid) as well as the roasties. Husband's beef was also to his liking with a good Yorkshire pudding. Generous mackerel fillet starter which we ended up sharing.

We have just had the most lovely Sunday lunch! Table setting, ambience, service, food and entertainment by a classic pianist! Utterly charming setting and food was as good as you would want - italian meats/olives and freshly made smoked haddock fish cake with side salads followed by roast sirloin of beef (as good as it gets) with veg/sides/gravy/yorkshires. Undoubtedly full to the brim we could not resist the puds - gooseberry, apple and treacle crumble with custard and toffee and honeycomb cheesecake! We have been coming to Beaumaris for years but first time dining at Bulkeley given childcare commitments etc but this is our new discovery and go to place to wine and dine! Special shout out to our servers and pianist - thank you for making our visit special!

Staying at the Bulkeley Hotel in Beaumaris we had 3 breakfasts and 2 evening meals in the restaurant. The breakfasts were excellent, nicely cooked and well presented. Some of the best breakfasts we have had for the past few years. The evening menu was sufficiently varied and again the food was beautifully presented and very very tasty. The staff both in the mornings and evenings were friendly and efficient. We found the whole experience of dining here to be faultless.

Food was outstanding-very tasty starter of fiscakes with lovely salad dressing.second course was excellent roast beef with generous sides of fresh vegetables. The portions of beef were generous and succulent.both sweets we ordered reflect the care and attention to detail and display. The service was excellent -staff were welcoming, pleasant and helpful. Lovely live music from the resident musician Jordan on the piano -overall a lovely warm experience. We have been coming to the Bulkely for several years and have never been disappointed. A lovely hotel in the heart of Beaumaris. Would recommend unreservedly for both visiting to lunch or dine but also to stay as the rooms are beautiful. Would recommend to try for a room with a sea view to enjoy the beauty of the place. We shall return!

As hotel guests, we decided to have an evening mean at Hansoms. We were really pleasantly surprised! The food was really top notch - Welsh lamb was to die for and wild mushroom risotto was superb. Excellent wine too. The service was excellent and to top it all, they had the most fantastic classical pianist playing. Best dining experience we've had for a while. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Staying in Anglesey for a long weekend, we thought to try the restaurant for dinner. We were a little taken aback the day before our reservation to discover that the bar wasn’t open, at 2:30 pm on a Friday, Oct half term week (we don’t have young children, just wanted a drink). At our actual reservation this evening, the restaurant was not at all full. The young people serving were attentive and helpful. The food, however, was average at best - moules in tomato sauce were very substandard, with the mussels very small and the tomato sauce thin, acidic and poor. The bread rolls were par-baked rolls, not home made. I had the cod which was over cooked in a thin, listless sauce. My husband’s lamb was beautifully cooked however. My husband’s dessert of apple pie and custard was obviously straight out of a box. Completely appreciate that restaurants are struggling to restart post COVID however charging high end prices for average food is not the way to build a successful business.

We have stayed at the bulkeley hotel a few times and also pop in for afternoon tea when we in the area , always been very pleasant visits . Not today we went in and we knew we could no longer sit on in the lovely room with leather setees as these reserved for guests even though most were empty, we understand . We found a little table in hallway there were also a couple of other tables free to. I went to order two cream teas and was informed by a sullen faced man that if we were not resident in hotel he had no tables free and couldn’t serve us . Which was strange as we already had table and there was plenty tables in room for residents. No explanation just walked off very rude no way to treat past customers with no explanation. We not be booking here again we will look at other hotels. Very sad as lovely staff on previous occasions 😞

Staff were wonderful and the menu looked reasonable. For starters we had Caesar salad and baked Camembert. The salad was bitter had olives in it and was just unappetising. The Camembert was lovely however, it came with a poorly dressed salad a handful of raw warmed walnuts, fried half a plum, it could have been delicious with more effort. Mains was worse. The mussels were in a watery soup and were so small it was a travesty to call them mussels, they were tasteless and the watery soup they were presented in was over flowing with bacon which overpowered everything, really disappointing. The bacon chop was not to salty but presented with melted cheese on top, it said it was served with a mustard sauce where in fact it was a teaspoon of grain mustard thrown around the plate. With more effort and thought this could have been a great meal yet it was just average - I can serve better at home, as this was a special occasion we were extremely disappointed. It was not a busy night either.

My girlfriend and I decided to eat out last minute and thought we'd give the Bulkeley a try, I'm glad we did! I opted for scallops whilst she had mussels to start, followed by a mixed grill for me and steak for my lady. The seafood was cooked to perfection, and the mixed grill was one of the best I've had. The staff were always on hand but not intrusive. Will be visiting again soon.

the reviews looked reasonable, so although we were not staying here we decided to try the food. The restaurant is pleasant enough, with a pianist playing and the atmosphere was OK. Staff generally pleasant and when the starters came they were very good. It all went rather downhill after that as we had to wait 40 minutes for the main course to arrive. Several other tables seemed to have a similar wait, so it may just have been that they were trying to serve too many people at the same time (meals were also being sent out to the bar area) Main courses were good, but we decided to forego a dessert - didn't want another 40 minute wait. I think there are better restaurants in Beaumaris.

We ate in the restaurant 'Hansoms' in the evening.....I had the seared scallops and rack of lamb which was cooked perfectly, excellently served and the restaurant setting is lovely........however, (and although it didn't spoil the meal, it needs mentioning) the desert options were very lame, clearly not homemade or of good quality (squirty cream overload) and the cheese board was explained as "there's a reddish one that looks like cheddar, a white one but I'm not sure if it's soft or hard and I think there might be goats cheese"........I received red Leicester and Bavarian smoked with a huge salad on the side......sort the pud's out and you have a first class restaurant....

Doesn't look much from the car park. Go through the arch to the beer garden, it's like the wardrobe to Narnia. Open fronted glamping pod, table in a boat, an unbelievable Hobbit house, fully furnished, with books in a bookcase. Go down the steps to the garden terrace overlooking the bay. Comfy and sheltered seating, with stunning views. Is dog friendly too. The beer is no worse a price than tourist places. And is a decent pint. Ignore the naysayers. It's a very pleasant place for relaxing with a drink. We will be returning.
