Lovely ambience in Will’s bar, not cheap but nice to be in. Been in a good few times over the years, but the pizza from Pat’s Shack is not really good enough. The menu sells “American Hot” which has Pepperoni, Fresh chillies, mozzarella, Parmesan, fresh oregano” Unfortunately there wasn’t any fresh chillies or fresh oregano. Poor considering the price is £12.50 The staff at pats shack aren’t particularly engaging or enthusiastic about being there. All in all it feels like an overpriced menu for a captive audience I’m sorry to say. Shame.

I’ll start with the positive, friendly staff, great decor & ambience. Then the negatives, we were waiting for over 35 minutes for food, then were very disappointed. The pizzas are advertised as hand-stretched, but did seem more likely to be pre-bought. Cheesy chips were good, but £9 is excessive. The fishfinger sandwich was the most disappointing, thick, dry, batter, very little fish in one fishfinger in a cheap hot dog bun for £13.50. Might return for a drink, but will eat elsewhere!

Went here for my wife's birthday with our son and 2 dogs. The restaurant is sat in a beautiful place and felt very welcoming. The staff were very welcoming, polite and checking to make sure everything was satisfactory. The decor was spot on, set out to feel warm and cosy and it definitely made you relax and feel comfortable. The food was fantastic too although my wife would have preferred sliced chicken rather than off the bone but that's a preference thing. We started with oysters, first time ever, chicken dinner for my wife, our baby boy and 2 doggie chicken dinners and I had rump beef roast dinner. Finished off with treacle sponge and custard for my wife ( shared with our baby boy and I has meringue with a delicious blueberry cream. All 10/10 except my wife's chicken but she still marked it as a solid 7. Overall it was a really nice afternoon and we even planned on going back later in the holiday. Now to the not so good bit. Later on in the early hours I woke feeling rather queezy, tried to sleep it off but all of a sudden I had to quick sharp march to the toilet. I spent the next 3 hours being ill from both ends non stop. I woke my wife to sleep in the babbies room ( we take it in turns on holiday) as I was seriously ill. My wife appeared OK, that was until later in the morning when she became seriously ill too. Aching bones, shivering and chills, explosive vomiting and the runs and an awful awful feeling of being ill. We have both never felt so ill and that includes having covid and bad migraines it was just horrendous. Even our 2 doggies had the runs but luckily the babbie was OK. Now we are not ones to normally complain or leave a bad review but you can't ever forget an experience like that. We put it down to the oysters but with the doggies have a dodgy belly we wondered if the food was prepared on an unclean surface. The food we ate was the only food we ate that day, and the day before was just what we normally eat at home with both myself and my wife rating different things. The meal cost us 125 pound which to most people including us is an awful lot of money but at the time it was worth it. Also after reading a previous review where one of them also had food poisoning and were offered a free drink if they were ever in the area again, well is just an insult. I understand it is hard to prove if you contacted food poisoning from a certain establishment and you could just be lying but believe me we reckon it was the oysters although the doggies were poorly so it could have been the chicken even though I had beef, but no definitely oysters and as a lover of fish dishes I am now put off for life from eating anything from the sea as is my wife. Just think there needs to be more sincerity from restaurants, cafes, food establishments that serve food that makes you ill. It's ashame really as this review would have been better and maybe would have helped bring more customers to this establishment.

We arrived for lunch, and sat in Will’s Bar and ordered from Pat’s Shack. You have to order drinks from Will’s Bar from grumpy bar staff who shout at you, and then walk outside to order food from disinterested teenagers. Having cleared our own table from the last diners’ very dirty fries and pizza boxes, we waited 30 mins for food. On arrival, the Dog’s Pollocks were two fish fingers in thick, greasy batter placed in cheap, dry brioche hotdog buns with sauce. £13.50 each for that, plus £5 for a portion of fries. Maybe upstairs is better.

An expensive meal and not good. The starter was ok. The crab croquettes were good. The main courses were disappointing, the curry had prawns with their shells on so difficult to eat and the flavor wasn't great. The risotto was inedible, very oily and tasteless. The crumble was ok but too much pineapple. A shame because the menu looked great and we were looking forward to it.

We had our anniversary meal here tonight and can't say a bad thing about our dining experience. From the moment we arrived we were treated very well. The food was amazing I had the fish and chips the portions were massive the fish batter was light and crispy and the chips are big and chunky and well cooked. My wife had the lamb leg which she says was very tender and tasty and lovely mashed potatoes and all the trimmings. The desserts were generous portions and also very nice. We just wanted to thank all the staff for making our anniversary meal so very nice. Look forward to comming bk

It cannot be denied that this restaurant is spoilt with an amazing building in an equally amazing location. Unfortunately the food simply doesn't do it justice. After passing the Oyster Catcher for many years we finally had the opportunity to book for an evening meal in the restaurant whilst staying locally. Sadly I wish we hadn't bothered and will not be visiting again. Whilst the food and presentation was very nice the price of the food compared to what you received sadly didn't hit the mark. We felt the food was extremely overpriced and felt you're paying for the name and location rather than just the food. The staff seemed over-stretched and didn't seem to be focused on anyone.

Great staff, atmosphere and location. Food has been a disappointment three times now. My biggest complaint every time is the desserts, flavourless gunk mascarading as cheesecake or chocolate mousse served in a jam jar. A jam jar! We had heard several reviews of this restaurant and after a family walk we called in on the chance that we might get a table. There were 12 of us and were given a table directly in front of the kitchen where we were able to look at the kitchen staff working. Most of my party ,children and adults enjoyed it ,Burgers and fries etc, but I was disappointed because I thought it was going to be something special. What was a concern however was the person running the kitchen who constantly put the food on the plates using his hands . He never once washed his hands even after wiping his nose or removing sweat from his forehead and once he pushed a tub of chips into a fellow chefs face before putting it on someone's plate It is a very popular place and in a nice spot. By all means try it but try to sit and enjoy the view not the kitchen

We last visited a year ago and came back for a meal on our family holiday again this year. Love the setting, food was nice but service was poor. It wasn’t full as the weather wasn’t great, but still waited ages between starter and main, didn’t get asked if we would like another drink even though we had finished them before the main, had to ask for a desert menu, when desert came… we had no spoons and I just had to get them myself and lastly had to ask for bill twice. Was a real shame as it could be so lovely. Only complaint with food was £4 for gravy with the fish & chips… gravy was very watery and a ridiculous price but the fish was amazing.

I went here with my family and friends for lunch, and one of my friends got food poisoning shortly afterwards. I contacted the restaurant the day after about this, and they conducted an investigation. This resulted in them denying that my friend got food poisoning from their restaurant, which is weird because they can't actually know that this is fact. My friend only eats vegetarian food at home - and we had all eaten the same food earlier that day and the day before. Only he had eating the (deconstructed) fish pie at The Oyster Catcher, and got ill shortly after. We all felt fine, but we hadn't eaten their seafood. Anyway - I did try and get some compensation, at least only for the overpriced fish pie which ruined our friends last day of holiday (although the rest of the food was extremely overpriced and average - especially the prawn cocktail!) and made the drive home awful. But instead, the manager offered my friend a free drink should he be in the area again (we live in London). Soooo, I would avoid any dishes from them that include seafood as it's so not worth getting ill over!

We were pre-warned to book as this is a very busy pub/restaurant. They were right, we were offered 16.15 or 20.30 for times available a week in advance. Not an issue, at all just a pre-warning to others! I visited here more than 10 years ago, I'm sure it was under different management but it's just as I remembered! Clean, bright and with lovely sunset views (at the time we dined) I remember it being quite pricy the last time I visited so wasn't such a shock, but for what we received portion wise it wasn't the best value. I ordered slow-cooked British pork. The food when it arrived was lukewarm at best and the pork was tough as old boots, all be it tasty still. The food was delivered quickly and the staff were very attentive! I hope this was an off day as I would visit again, the bar downstairs was cracking after a day on the beach. All in all reasonably happy, but portion sizes, heat of the food and price let it down slightly!

The food the views look pictures, I love the design. I was really looking forward to eating here I’d heard great things. Unfortunately it was quite a disappointment, the starter was prawn and crayfish cocktail which was £13 the sauce was standard not surprised if it was from a jar, shame when it’s so easy to make from scratch.. and 10 times better I just don’t get it.. The oysters were standard but Tabasco sauce as your addition? ( no thank you for £15 for 3 oysters with tobasco I’d expect maby some localy sourced wood sorrel or sanfire as a small addition. The fish unfortunately was a huge disappointment.. batter was soft and I’ve had better in weatherspoons (they should try a beer batter) The rump steak which there was no other steak option was another blow, the chefs done his best to mask this one off, it’s a bad cut to serve but he’d managed to give that some great taste but unfortunately as the only option was a rump you don’t get that melted butter taste you get from sirloin or rib.. it’s simply tastes like liver.. I was impressed with how much he had to beat that rump to get it soft and hats off in that.. Finally the burger made me want to walk straight out the door, tho I presume it was with the 70/30 mix I rib it was dence hard and extremely plain.. it was lacking something. It was just boring. It put me off ordering burgers and I’d suggest the chef tries a smashies or 5 guys burger to see how it’s done.. Hope this menu gets a revamp and I look forward to coming back to try again soon..

Pretty poor all around. It's a lovely place and in a nice location. However the food is just not that good, especially when you consider the prices they charge here. The "short rib" burger was woefully unseasoned and no better than any other burger. For £19.50 you'd expect more. The black cod dish - £26 is an awful lot to pay for one piece of fish on a couple of spoonfuls of underseasoned, bland mushroom risotto. I'm sure they'll come back and say they use premium fresh ingredients which justifies the higher prices, but the point is you still need to feel like you're getting good value, and this isn't it. It's not expert cooking and it's not worth what's charged. £9.50 for an ice cream sundae is taking the mick by anyone's standards.

Average food, shop-bought 'Lebanese flatbread' and indifferent staff. Overpriced too. Chicken, chips and peas was pretty bland and to be honest, for a restaurant of such status, to use pre-made flat breads (also available in packs of 5 at Asda) is inexcusable. Went back the day after for a couple of pints. Staff seemed very stressed, unfriendly. Ordered a pint in the bar downstairs then took it upstairs and sat outside - great. Went inside to the restaurant bit to order a second pint only to be told they can't sell me a pint. Instead, I needed to go back to the table and someone would come and take my order. Did as told but no-one came apart from a young girl who walked past several times then went into a little hut. Eventually I went up to the hut to order said pint, and despite us sitting right opposite the hut and no-one else around at the time, was asked (in all seriousness) "which table are you sitting at?" er...."that one opposite you!!". Complacency seems to have set in big time. I suspect that if another eating place was set up nearby, they would have to seriously up their game. Save your money, buy a couple of bottles of beer from the Spar on the way into Rhosnieger and sit on the wall near the Oystercatcher if you really want to!

Have always rated this restaurant, and had chosen it specifically because of this for a 50th birthday family celebration. We had informed them of this when booking. Food was ok, starters were nice , mains , the sauce was split with the chicken and the fries, all overcooked and 3 of us left most of them. Desert had been absolutely nuked in the microwave and was too hot to enjoy. Service was dire. Waited 15minutes after seating to order a drink. We had to ask if we could possibly order anything. Wine plonked on table, we served ourselves… Whole evening made us feel very much an inconvenience. Had to ask for cutlery for the mains, sauces etc. no one came at any stage and asked if we wanted further drinks or refilled water. We rarely complain. We’ve worked in hospitality environments and understand the busy environment can affect the best of us momentarily but this just felt like no one cared. And it wasn’t that busy. It might have been earlier but not that evening. Oh and birthday was ignored. It didn’t spoil it but if you act like a destination venue, which it always was , behave like one. Weve always recommended the restaurant, won’t be doing in future and the server was apologetic at the end of the meal when we had the chance to raise it but that didn’t change our overall experience which was poor. Unlike at the sandy mount for our sons birthday on Monday , where the food, service and attention to detail from the booking without further reference was exceptional-wished we’d booked there again . Won’t be back here.

The reviews said this is the best place to eat in Anglesey esp. for the oysters soy we had to try. We got a reservation for the restaurant upstairs which was a very pleasant place, with glass walls all around. It's actually fun to walk around on the outside verandah even though it's not any great view. We had two oysters, a Caesar's salad with smoked salmon, a lobster eggs Benedict, a king prawn spaghetti and haddock fish and chips. The two oysters were a let down; small and watery and that was £10 which was a bit shocking. The Caesar's salad was good with very nice smoked salmon from a local smoker. The lobster eggs Benedict was pretty good but not really memorable. The prawn spaghetti was the best dish with pasta well cooked and the sauce perfectly spiced. The fish and chips was mixed. The fish could not compare with the other fish I've had on this trip though I must say this is the best mushy peas I've had so far! The chips unfortunately were also mushy and we needed some sauce for them. I ordered a curry sauce which was okay but lacked salt and heat. The other sad part was that we tried to ask for ketchup but nobody took notice of us. Three servers nodded that they had seen our wave but always seemed to have something more important to do. We had a plate of chips when we first tried to ask and four chips left when we finally got the ketchup. Overall, quite disappointing. We won't be back.

Honestly, not one for a review but I was ordering food and told 30 minutes. Eventually 90 minutes later it came. It was a cheese bloody toastie.

As I'm not a local, I was driving and decided to stop. What a lovely pub, service, beer well kept, clean and well priced food. If I'm that way again, I think I'll stay the night.
