This is a fantastic pub…brilliant atmosphere and Gwyn and the team are sooo lovely and couldn’t do more for you…great food and the locals are lovely and friendly too ! I promised Gwyn I’d do a review but a bit reluctant to advertise this wonderful place lol…dog friendly and happy to see our four ( they loved Maddie) although dog friendly and allowed in some areas…Gwyn ensures that areas are also dog free. We went in on Burger and Steak night on the Friday. The burgers were sourced from a quality local butcher and were very tasty! Booking is essential as these nights are very popular! Well done to Gwyn, Maddie and the team for our warm welcome ! John and Pam

Called in for a drink when exploring the village. Amazing balcony with a view of the bay, very friendly and helpful staff, will definitely come again.

This is a lovely pub with lovely owners. Great choice of beers and drinks, we didn’t try the food but it looked and smelt amazing. The atmosphere was clean and cosy. It was so friendly and welcoming and the Pool table was a family favourite. Dogs were welcome as well. Highly recommend this pub just for the friendly staff alone.

Can't recommend this place enough! ❤️ Absolutely beautiful pub with the best people. We were in Cemaes Bay for a couple of weeks in December - my husband and I travelled through from Manchester, sister in law caught the ferry to Holyhead from Dublin and on from there and my brother travelled through from the South - good meetup spot for all of us over Christmas! This pub was a real gem of a find near where we were staying and we visited a good few times during our stay. Landlord Gwyn was SO lovely and friendly to us all and we all thoroughly enjoyed going here! All bar staff were really friendly and lovely. Dog friendly too which was a big plus since my sister in law had her two dogs with. Beautiful food too! Thank you so much for your hospitality and hope we'll be back soon!!!

Great local pub with decent pub grub. I was on my walk around Anglesey with my dog, we were made feel very welcomed by Landlord Gwyn after a couple hard days walk in the wind and rain. Definitely worth a visit. Thanks, Tom and Tegwen

Incredibly friendly people, great food & beer.

We popped in for a quick pint & stayed all evening. Gwyn & Maddie were fabulous hosts, and the locals welcomed us to their table. Beer & food were fantastic. Wonderful people & a brilliant place.

Visited whilst we wrre staying in the area. Lovely place and both dog and human friendly. Good priced drinks. Food was excellent quality and also well priced, especially with the deals they had on. Went for the weekly quiz too, which was great fun. We were really made to feel welcome. We will be returning next year.

It was ok, the chicken tikka curry was nice but the garlic mushrooms and scampi, both over done and hard

Ate at the Stag Thursday night (it was curry night with a couple of options for those not fancying a curry). We both went for the beef madras & it was absolutely superb! The right amount of heat, delicious lean beef that was cooked to perfection & absolutely melted in the mouth! The rice was cooked perfectly & generous portions. We enjoyed it so much we booked back in for the Friday burger night. Soooooo glad we did! Absolutely divine homemade burgers with a wide choice of additional toppings & sides. Honestly they were the best onion rings we have ever had! My partner, who doesn’t normally eat pork couldn’t get enough of the loaded tater tots! Excellent value, delicious food, friendly welcoming staff & locals. The stag is a small village pub, it does get busy but it is worth the short wait! Exceptional, looking forward to visiting again

Poor, 3 choices on menu chicken coujons, fish coujons sausage , jar curry sauce curries, anything that can go in a deep fat fryer worst meal I've ever been served in a pub, 8 people all disappointed 60th birthday celebrations, quiz was a savour. If you going to Camaes there is a lovey bar and restaurant though the field from the beach Gove this a miss all day long

Great beers, fantastic atmosphere and friendly local pub

Went in for a dri nk after a very long hot walk, we asked the landlord about bus services in the area and was offered a lift back to Amlwch, which we were so glad of. Couldn't thank him enough, will hopefully be back soon and for food this time. Spoke to one local man in the pub and he a,so offered a lift and spoke of the area. One bonus for me was that they sold the nice Blue WKd , gluten free ones and not the awful barley rubbish.

Can't comment on food didn't have any. Service from the bar was excellent. Dogs are allowed has 3 main indoor rooms nice and snug with one a games room. Toilet facilities very poor no urinal in gents just a sit down and not the cleanest to be fair it's the people who use it that make it messy in the first place.ladies has 2 loos not as bad clean wise. Does have plenty of outside space. Would I go again yes .

I was staying in Cameas Bay on the second night of my cycle camping tour of Anglesey. I had gone to the Stag Inn for lunch only to be told they don't serve but I was more than welcome to get food from elsewhere in the village and come back to the Stag to grab a beer and eat my lunch - works for me. I asked about dinner and was advised to book a table which I did. Come dinner time I wasn't massively hungry so I opted for the kids sausage, mash and peas, plus a couple of adult drinks. The food was spot and the sausages were locally made which I always look out for. From the upstairs terrace, you can just see out across Cameas Bay.

The Stag Inn was such a welcome site at the end of a long day walking the Anglesey Coastal Path. We wanted somewhere welcoming and comfy to sit to have a celebratory drink and some nibbles and it was perfect for us. The lady who served us was polite and attentive and expertly poured our Rev James beers. The beer was just at the right temperature and was so tasty. The pub was busy but service was prompt, friendly and welcoming. We enquired about food later in the week and we're told it would be best to book to guarantee getting in as they are popular and busy at this time of the year. We will definitely be returning here for food and drinks when visiting Anglesey again.

Such a fab pub to find at the end of a very long 25k coastal path walk. We had a well Seaver’s pint. Then to talk to the landlord and book a table for their Mexican night… pre-booking is a MUST as they are very popular! No WiFi problems at all once there … it’s an island so you expect 4/5g not to work all time! Your in the middle no nowhere. WiFi issues aren’t the landlords/areas problem! I/we will be back….. fab find and the end of a huge walk. And the beach was a bonus. Rev James is a fab pint. Kelly xxx

Just a couple of pints each of cask beer and they were absolutely tip top. No food at lunchtime but had a look at the evening menu and it looked OK. We will be back.

Not good for holiday makers that can't pre book tables for food. Fully booked .. not good phone signal/WiFi where we were staying so not able to pre book..left and went somewhere else to eat Edit In response to owner. You may feel it is harsh but it is factual and the signal to leave the review is because I am back home. Sarcasm doesn't change the fact we couldn't pre book and were turned away at the time for food as you were fully booked. Poor signal and no WiFi where we were staying ..we struggled to park and my disabled husband struggled to get into the premises as we couldn't get the wheelchair out of the car due to parking issues and someone blocking us in. We struggled across the road and we're turned away ..the review is to make sure others holidaying in the area know that they are best looking elsewhere if they can't book in advance. Also the website and your board outside say you're serving food which is misleading if you are only serving to pre booked in peak season

Ate here one evening whilst on holiday with my family. Great friendly service and food fantastic. I had the vegan pie. I'm not vegan but fancied it anyway. As we left the landlord (or chef?! I'm not sure), came running after us to check everything had been OK with our meal. He said it had taken him ages to get a vegan pastry he was happy with. It was delicious and I couldn't even tell it had been made without butter. Definitely recommend eating here.

We visited here whilst holidaying on the Island recently. A gem of a pub! A very friendly welcome and a nice chat with landlord Gwyn. Got chatting to a couple of local lads too who were also welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. Cracking pint in a cracking little pub. Glad we stumbled across here and will definitely be visiting again

Visit "back home" for a few days, and the first time since Gwyn and his team have taken over. Well not really too much to say apart from OUTSTANDING, a Very warm welcome from the staff behind the bar (who I hasten to add did not know me as the were new) which shows every customer gets the same service, Food was excellent (and no I wouldn't just say that I'd tell Gwyn if it was bad as he would expect honesty) and YES Booking is Advisable as it is very busy. Can't wait for out next trip back and see how much further The Stag has grown.

Absolutely gem of a place in a beautiful village setting. Staff go above and beyond for their customers definitely made to feel welcome. You arrive as a customer and leave with friends. Good honest food all served hot and fresh fantastic choice available. They have a fantastic beer garden and balcony with a great view. Open fire in the winter when the weather gets cooler. Great selection of real ales and and lagers. Definitely a gem with great atmosphere.

Went to The Stag on Thursday for curry and quiz night. Food was lovely, service was good, staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome. Took part in the quiz which was good fun and created a great atmosphere in the pub. Will definitely go back again.

We had a brilliant evening meal here - in fact it was so good we came back two nights later! As mentioned in many other reviews, the landlord Gwyn is fantastic and his busy staff are friendly and welcoming. Our first meal included Dressed crab salads and Chilli con carne. On the second evening we sampled the Chicken, Gammon and Leek pies. Everything was delicious. This pub is such a little gem and also serves great cask ales……we enjoyed Directors, Rev James and Wainwright. Well done, Gwyn!

When we visited the pub was busy with locals and visitors; the bar staff acknowledged us and served us in turn with a friendly manner. Unfortunately this was the only positive part of our visit. The pub itself is grotty and run down. We sat...

We had a table booked for 7 people for 1.30pm, arrived at 1.15pm, they said that there was a little problem but would only be a few minutes... That's fine, we were early anyway. They asked for our drink order and sat us in the bar. At 1.30pm we were told the chef hadn't turned up so we couldn't order any food. Fine, these things happen and they suggested a couple of other places, but the reason I rate this experience so badly is because they refused to refund our drinks when they knew there was a problem the moment we walked in and still let us place a drinks order. We left the full drinks behind.

Lovely food lively pub very accommodating with our dog made to feel welcome despite our Harry not being the quietest boy. I had the squid to start and penang curry both tasty and well presented. Very central location had a little walk around near the beach. A choice of on tap beers … I’m only a shandy drinker but all in all a great place.

Called in on a Friday evening - this place was much busier than expected. We hadn't booked a table and were told there would be a short wait of about half an hour before we could order. We enjoyed a couple of pints before ordering two pies off their specials board - ABSOLUTELY SPLNEDID!! Bar staff and locals all friendly - we've booked again for Monday night. Food looked and smelt good. Barman didn't look like he enjoyed his job. Girl was friendly and happy. I work In bars and know you are supposed to make customers feel welcome, we didn't get that vibe at all! Sat in the pool room and made to feel very uncomfortable due to the 3 men at the games machine, swearing, sounding aggressive and being loud. Had 1 quick drink and left ASAP. Won't be returning

Absolute gem of a place! Doesn't look like much from the outside however this place boasts an incredible view over the bay from its hidden balcony. Real Ale drinkers will be pleasantly surprised at a choice of up to three well kept ales. At the time of my visit they offered Wainwright, Courage Directors and Brains Rev James! Three cracking choices! Foodies will be haply here too - their simple menu offers a great selection. I opted for one of their pies, as did most of our group, and everyone was more than impressed with what was served. Staff wise their team are extremely pleasant and approachable, nothing was too much! They even took time to share their local knowledge about the area. Big praise to the landlord, Gwyn, who has worked tirelessly over the last few months to bring Cemaes a fantastic pub to be proud of! Brilliant to see someone local to the area doing so well! Our only complaint is that we can't pick this place up and take it home with us so we can enjoy it more often! Thank you all so much for your welcome. Went for sunday roast 16-7-23 was chicken or pork, we both had chicken, meals came kids sizes, chicken was chunks out of a packet, small spoonful of mash two small hasselback potatoes supposedly roast, raw carrots, hard peas broccoli and cauliflour not tender gravy like a weak soup, all for the sum of £14.95 pp stay well away

Didn't have high hopes here to be honest - but the Thai Red Chicken Curry was excellent - perfectly spiced with tender chicken. Just one point though - you don't serve papadums with Thai curry - those are for Indian food only.

My daughter, baby and myself called in for food at 5.15 on a Monday. One or two tables reserved for 7pm. Lots of space. We were asked if we'd booked when we said no. We were told they would struggle to fit us in. More like we weren't welcome.

Had a lovely meal today, 4 of us. Serving Sunday roast today but the very obliging landlord cooked 4 meals from the normal menu for us. Very glad that he was so helpful and we will definitely return. Thank you
