We had a lovely meal today. My butternut squash, gruyère and quinoa roulade was superb, even better than it looked. At first sight I was disappointed with the portion size but actually it was perfect for lunch. Our table all enjoyed their main meals and the just out of the oven homemade scones, served with Rodda’s Cornish Clotted cream and jam were excellent. I read for some the service is too slow but we enjoyed the relaxed ambience. If you want fast food there are plenty of other places to go. I’m pleased to have discovered a place we can drop by when passing with good parking, great food and is licensed for alcohol.

Popped in here for a late lunch. Lovely warm welcome. Seated in the conservatory which was charming and overlooking the garden. Food was wholesome, freshly prepared and very reasonable. Will be returning 👍

Steve, a great fella, made our stay amazing and Sheila warmed our stay even more with tea and scones that were perfect. Both are fantastic hosts and we couldn't have asked for more. Room was spot on and the surrounding area was sublime. From a swim in the waterfall to a hike to the summit Snowdon, we had an ace time. Couldn't recommended highly enough and will defo be back. Thank you for everything. Top notch! 😊

On the hottest day of the year so far and after the stunning but strenuous walk we partook of nearby Aber Falls, my boyfriend and I were desperate for refreshments. After a quick google he directed me to pull into the car park......all looked good so far, picturesque tearoom and we were positive our thirst would be quenched shortly. But upon arrival which coincided with a party of jovial lads.....we experienced no less than shaming and ostracisation. While I’m wilting my knight in shining amour battles through the seating area and said jovial lads.....reaches over to the fridge (not behind any counters mind you, he knows the rules).......the coldness from the open fridge door hits him.....I can see visible relief....happy knowing I’m gonna get some of that cold any minute too......his fingers touch that god like bottle of posh cloudy lemonade......and he gets shouted out! Shelia (I know cus I read her poster proclaiming her own ongoing ballroom displays for guests in the evening and had gently nudged the other half with a knowing wink and a nod in the direction of the poster.....this confirmed the type of woman we were dealing with)......shouts out ‘NO.....it’s not self service’ . We were mortified.......we’re not the type of people to go about doing wrong.......and fore-gods sake Shelia we were dying of thirst. With obvious fluster at a few people in ‘the tearooms’ needing the type of things you go into tearooms for, we were then told to go from the main area into the hottest conservatory built I’m sure for the devil in mid summer.....we really would of died so disobeyed Shelia and her wrath and stepped a little further out into the garden and waited......and waited, o.h pops back in and she’s just merrily buttering away the lads sandwiches, comes back......waited.......I actually topped up my tan if you’re into the burnt look.....and waited.......near death we staggered back to the car......found a fabulous place called a Shell garage AND.....he went in and was allowed to purchase refreshments immediately! On the positive I did hear Shelia pronounce ‘scone’ as in ‘cone’ and not as in ‘gone’ which did rather make me happy, so well done there Shelia.....and keep on dancing!

Stopped off here today as we were passing through - big sign outside saying cafe was open. As we arrived we were told that they were closed as they had a function - there were about 10 people in the “function” with plenty of seating still free in other areas. All we wanted was a coffee - won’t bother again & will tell others not to either.

Myself, partner and three kids called in after a walk to the falls. The place was almost empty. Ordered a coffee, tea, coke X 3 and three slices of cake. Tea and coffee came out after about 25 minutes wait, but no sign of the kids drinks, we drank ours as didn't want it to get cold, 45 minutes into our wait I decided to ask where the kids drinks and cake were. They told me it was on the way. 10 more minutes past so we got up and just asked to pay for the hot drinks. At that point the cokes and cake came out of the kitchen. The owner couldn't comprehend why we were leaving. I tried to explain that it wasn't fair for us to drink our drinks in front of the kids and they should have arrived at the same time. Here reply was they were busy. I looked around and there was a couple in the corner who had been their longer than us and were still waiting, and a family of four who were explaining to the waiter they had messed up his order. I'm not one for complaining but the service was shambolic and obviously the owner didn't have a clue and was way out of their depth. It a pity as the place is in an idyllic location. But somebody should go in and train the staff how to be efficient. Service so bad it was almost funny.

We visited here following a lovely walk up to the Falls and have to be honest in saying that we were very disappointed. As nice as the staff were, the same cannot be said for the very, very slow service provided. We had been looking forward to the heavily advertised "Scones, with Clotted Cream and a cup of tea/coffee" only to find that they had no scones left by half past three. When we arrived we were informed to take a seat and that orders were taken at the tables but after waiting for around 10 minutes, nobody came out and we went to the bar to order (this is when we were told about there being no scones). I ordered 3 Lattes (one iced) & our 3 second choices of cake, a bottle of water and a bowl of soup. And then we waited!!!. ONE coffee arrived after about 5 minutes. A further five minutes later the second coffee arrived and we were then told they had run out of ice for the third. We asked for a jug of water instead of the iced latte but had to go in to ask/collect the bottle of water that we had originally ordered and asked for another coffee. Still no sign of the cakes. The jug of water arrived, with no glasses, another wait. The final coffee was brought out with the glasses and finally - when all of the coffees had been drank, the cakes arrived for one of them to be frozen solid in the middle.....still no sign of the soup!! This followed once all the cakes had been eaten (the frozen one returned and replaced by the only other one that was tempting - and now my third choice). The soup arrived and was definitely not worth the wait - the bowl was only half full, this is no exaggeration. We finished and paid our bill (almost £20) and foolishly said nothing - something I often do and always regret as I did not want to cause offence at the time - like I said, the owner was very friendly and the cakes we had were very nice. Just wouldn't go back and would not recommend to friends. Really wouldn't like to see how they coped with a full cafe! A hint to the owners, maybe a notice outside to inform people when you have run out of the only thing that you advertise on the outside of the building.

called here late in the year when there were few visitors around . The proprietor was alone and took a very long time indeed to produce two stale scones rock hard butter and jam that e had specifically said we didn't want. the teas were standard fare . The outrageous price for the scones ie over £5 each then was enough to fuel our avoidance of this café however thirsty . This was our experience then . Reading your reviews and noticing the number of people who call in to this café we're glad to see that most other visitors have more positive experiences .

I was determined to have some coffee and ice cream before leaving Wales and took a turning off the A55 pretty much at random in the hope there might be something in a nearby village. Indeed there was. I initially pulled in to a car park outside an extremely run-down building but was relieved to discover that the restaurant was actually next door. This is a charming place, really well-presented, clean and simply inviting with a special atmosphere. I guess all the butterflies helped. They are everywhere.

We stopped by for tea and scone and a hot chocolate on a chilly Monday afternoon and sat in the comfy, warm conservatory. It was our first visit and we were thoroughly delighted by what we found. The presentation was first class and the food excellent. The lady who served us was very friendly BUT and there is quite a big but, the service was so slow. Fortunately we were not in a hurry so it didn't concern us greatly and was not enough to put us off going again Oh and an added bonus of ample free parking outside the door!

I visited here on Friday 16th of June. I ordered a tuna panini and a coffee. The is no mistaking this place is beautiful and the service behind the counter was great from the young girl (Jenny I think her name was). However I am a trucker and as truckers will know, we have to take a 45 min brake due to law. If we take any longer it can have massive effects on our delivery times , and unfortunately the service from the kitchen didn't live up to the service of the counter. As after forty minutes my panini still hadn't arrived and it was pretty quiet. So unfortunately I had to ask them to cancel it and be on my way. I was gutted because this place looked great but I left hungry and disappointed.

We parked at the bottom car park (free) and walked up to Aber falls. The walk is suitable for all the family you could manage a buggy but, in my opinion, is not suitable for a wheelchair of those need walking supports. Apologies if you think I'm wrong. The musical and comedy evenings once a month and special event dinners are quite a change from the rather lack-lustre and unenthusiastic just-a-pub and roadside motel offering of the previous owners. It is clear that the Butterfly Rooms proprietors really want to be a real centre of hospitalty for our lovely historic village of Abergwyngregyn.

The cafe had only just opened 4 weeks earlier. The menu looked good but they did not do chips. We had two pesto chicken panini's. They were delicious. The staff were very warm and friendly. The setting is beautiful with flowers and plants in the grounds. The high hills cradling the cafe look hauntingly vaulted. If they just tweak the menu slightly and plump up the portions they should be fine. It's an excellent watering hole before hitting Aber Falls. And they gave us their WiFi password too. Excellent customer service.

Awful experience. We arrived around 2 pm, and we asked what the soup was. We were told it was Parsnip and immediately ordered. The member of staff went to the kitchen to ask something and then came out to say they are no longer serving food. We found this odd given that she had just confirmed the soup with the kitchen, and the cafe is open until 4 pm. Fair enough if we were trying to order at 3.45pm, but this was at 2pm. We ordered coffees and welsh cakes, which took 20 minutes to come (cafe was empty, save for ourselves). The rude member of staff then slammed them on the table, didn't even take the items off the tray, and walked off. Never have I had such an awful customer service experience. Complete letdown to what is a lovely area.

An out-of-town farm/campsite/farmshop. Reasons for 5* = service (friendly), quality (.take a look round the shop), price (very good value) . I thought this was a lovely place. As a family we’d all happily revisit. Good value for the quality of produce. In Leeds (where we come from) could charge a lot more. We’d happily happily revisit

A most welcoming local pub with an excellent chef who happily adapted starters into a main for me - veggie! Although menu catered for everyone. Mine hosts were so cheerful & hardworking - many could take a leaf out of their books! The place was absolutely buzzing with people of all ages - locals & holidaymakers having the time of their lives singing along to the live musician of the evening who sang everything from Beatles/John Denver to modern day...talented chap! We will definitely be back - next time we may stay if not during the summer months, perhaps for an Autumn/Spring walking holiday!
