The Royal Victoria Hotel Snowdonia in Gwynedd

We had pleasant stay at the Royal Victoria. On arrival we let reception know we’d be leaving before breakfast, they were kind enough to offer a breakfast bag to take away and switch a few items to suit our taste, it was sat outside the door as promised and was filled with fresh fruit, yogurt and biscuits. On arrival, we had a couple of drinks on the lawn which is a sun-trap. We stayed in the coachhouse which was simple and clean which is all we needed. We also had a our evening meal in the bar area, was too late to book the restaurant. The food (fish and chips & lamb burger) was really nice and would eat there again. Overall a really nice stay and will happily book again when needed.

WORKERS MEN!! WERE REALLY RUDE THE PEOPLE WHO BOOKED THIS PLACE WERE HIJABS AND WERENT COVERED THESE MEN KEPT WALKING BY AND DID NOT CARE ONE OF THE STAFF EVEN SAID (A MAN) I DO NOT CARE ITS MY JOB IN A VERY RUDE WAY

Brilliant hotel, lots of personality and perfect location as its right next to snowden - though you can hear people really clearly when they're walking/talking in the hallway, not the hotels fault, but perhaps something to be mindful of of you stay there 🙂

The Royal Victoria Hotel Snowdonia offers excellent value for money. I was thoroughly impressed with the high standard of service across the board, from the friendly reception staff to the attentive team in the restaurant and bar. The quality of the food was superb, and the bar provided a relaxing environment. My spacious and well-equipped room added to the overall comfort. The hotel's prime location is also a significant advantage. Overall, a fantastic hotel that I would happily return to.

Nice hotel, nice room, lovely bay window nd plugs near bed. Good buffet breakfast. Bathroom bay designed with shower and bathroom door clashing, shower head very droopy too.

I don't normally give reviews... But I just had to. I have just returned home from 3 nights in The Royal Victoria Hotel. Everything is just perfect. Every member of staff were incredibly polite and helpful. The room was everything I needed it to be and very good value. The included in the price breakfast was excellent and the evening meals were of a very high standard. The cherry on a particularly nice cake has to be the location... Highly Recommended...

Always a pleasant stay at the Royal Victoria

Lovely big old hotel in a scenic location . The room was good and the bar area was really nice. I ate a couple of times in the bar area during my stay and the food was very good especially the meatballs. Parking was ample and the hotel didn’t seem too busy at the time I visited. The only cons for me were that I could hear every single conversation in the hallway outside my room vividly as well as being able to hear every time another quest even moved in the rooms either side of me. Also the multiple staff that I interacted with on my first night didn’t make me feel welcome and weren’t friendly at all. They couldn’t even crack a smirk let alone a smile. Luckily none of those people were there the 2nd night at those staff seemed very nice so not a total loss.

This is one of the best options to stay when visiting Snowdonia. It's a 3-5 minute walk to the Snowdon mountain railway station in Llanberis. Llanberis town high street or town centre is another 5 minute walk from the railway station. The waterfalls are about a 10-15 minute walk as well. In short, a fantastic location. The hotel while old is in great shape, giving a nice old charm to it. The rooms may not be the biggest, but they are good with large size beds. The bath may appear small, but it's modernised, importanly, very clean. Overall, good value for money. Breakfast was alright. Good spread in my view. Drinks (beer to be precise) were reasonably priced backed by efficient and very friendly service. Overall a nice experience. Will definitely stay there again.

Excellent value for a stay, with attentive staff

If I am to stay in a hotel in llanberis, this is where I always book. Great rooms, very good evening meals and a brilliant self service breakfast.

So expensive.......sorry. This place is taking the piss .....drinks are more than double the price. Disgusting .

Had an offer for a single room for £25! Absolute bargain & prompted a trip to Wales and up Yr Wyddfa. Room was great, just what you need after a hard day on the mountain. Bar and food was brilliant, been before and will definitely be back again. Highly recommended to all

Bathroom light is automatic but goes off after 5 min so then you need to shower in the dark. This can be dangerous.

The panoramic views from the hotel are absolutely stunning, especially at sunrise and sunset. The decor is rustic yet elegant, blending perfectly with the natural surroundings. The bed was incredibly comfortable, with high-quality linens that ensured restful nights after long days of exploring.

Thus hotel turned my husband and me away at lunchtime saying we could not get a drink or food. Unbelievable. Plus one staff member wearing a surgical mask which was unpleasant to see. I was not impressed. Hospitality includes all customers. Lazy ignorant and very un welcoming.

It's little bit too pricey like for standards.

Just spent a lovely 4 nights at the hotel and it was very cosy and warm as Storm Bert tried to ruin our trip. Great choice for breakfast, room size was good, friendly experienced staff, plenty of parking and the start of the Yr Wydffa Llanberis path was only a short walk away. We also used the bus service in Llanberis with no problems. Thanks for an enjoyable stay

Lovely staff and very welcoming. Only went for coffee and we were glad for the warmth after coming down from a cold mountain. Although we were wet, we were welcomed into the bar. Didn't eat but the food being served looked good. Thanks for having us.

A good place to visit i liked the food and drink there

Typical turn of the century hotel, bags of character along with lots of creaks, rooms were a bit tired with no USB provisions within, but there is free WiFi Staff are great, meals are tasty and the sleep was very good

a really lovely hotel, really pleasent staff, clean rooms, spacious twin room, food in the restaurant was really good.

Great location. Good breakfast, wonderful view over garden. Bar food, the worst ever (I did complain, it really was inedible). Room not so good, bike storage opposite our room, car park the other side, which made it very noisy especially with deliveries. Delivery lorry parked outside our bedroom window every morning between 4 and 5 am. Toilet in our room flushed every now and then. Problem was reported more than once. We had one day when toilet flushed as you would expect. So fed up with the problem and having to go over to the hotel toilets we decided to leave early. Reception staff, that morning, did nothing to reassure us or to try and make things better. So we left and came home. Other members of staff were very nice throughout our stay. Disappointing, having a flushing toilet is a basic need.

If you want good views, snowdon is less than a stone throw away, the hotel is comfortable clean and very polite staff and close to amenities this was my second visit and i will definitely book the same stay next year.

Wow what a fab place this is. Great location even the locals don't mind (sheep) just cross in front of you as you walk through town. Quiet cute. Clean room an bed.

Lovely staff, a little noisy at times - breakfast room great. Be prepared for a random wake up call. Night porter and late arrival if you need it.

Had a nice meal here, with decent beer and very good toilets! It did seem fairly pricey though.

Only visited for dinner; not cheap but decent food. The bar was surprisingly chaotic, given that there were quite a few staff and relatively few punters! It took a few repetitions to get my food and drink order placed correctly.

Lovely old hotel. Staff courteous and helpful. Location near Snowdon Railway Station and lake couldn't be bettered.

DO.NOT.ORDER.PIZZA.HERE. Bar nice, staff very busy but they’ve got it covered. Lovely location, only two pubs LLanberis, so not much choice, I would come to the bar again if in the area, but for goodness sake don’t order pizza, ordered Garlic Bread, it came soggy and cool, I’m sure there was garlic in the kitchen somewhere but it wasn’t on this dish. Margarita Pizzas arrived, we said we had ordered Pepperoni, pizzas disappeared only to reappear in a few minutes, with luke warm, uncooked slices of pepperoni on top, they were sliding about on top of the cheese, which was cheddar (or some other hard cheese) not Mozzarella, soggy undercooked base, totally inedible, we actually left 90% of both dishes (hungry walkers leaving food, it must be bad). I felt sorry for the waitress when she asked how the food was, I replied “Disgusting”, not her fault, the kitchen manager needs to sort this, I’m not the only person to complain about the Pizzas. We ended up back in the village and had pizza from the perfectly positioned Gold takeaway van down by the lake, so the evening improved somewhat.

After a walking event that finished at 4am in the hotel, the arranged cooked breakfast was plentyful

The rooms are overpriced for the size,a good selection of beers in the bar and the location is perfect. I found the breakfast could be improved.

Must admit the first time we stayed was lovely, but this time we were in a dark view less little room, so the experience wasn't so pleasant, This was big shame as my husband had chosen this hotel to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary, because we had enjoyed it before.

Right at the bottom of Snowdon. Brilliant views from the garden. Went for a wedding and it was lovely. I could hear music playing from another room as the ceremony was on 👎. Great food. Around £14 for a double + mixer. Pints around a fiver. Prices are high for guests at the bar. All round great place regardless and brilliant staff. Would stay there again if I were to be climbing Snowdon!

Position of hotel is wonderful, right at the foot of Mount Snowdon. Restaurant manager shouting to people to make sure that we sit in the same place for dinner, for no apparent reason. Staff apart from front desk and cleaners made no attempt at all to engage with customers whatsoever. This was enough for me not to go back.

I stayed there as part of a wedding party. The staff did a great job in preparing the venue for the wedding. The food was very good and a very relaxed atmosphere. Our bedroom was good, very clean but I found the bed uncomfortable and the pillows too hard. The location of this hotel is excellent for walkers and in easy reach of many attractions. Quite easy for wheelchair users and the ambulant disabled. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Will certainly be back.

Very nice hotel, reasonable price considering it is right at the bottom of the Llanberis pass up to Snowdon

Perfect location at foot of Llanberis track up Snowdon. Spacious comfortable room with bath! So perfect for easing weary muscles. Very impressed with the food in the main restaurant, beautifully presented and delicious. Only downside the hotel is a bit of a maze with 2 separate lifts needed to get to the third floor. But would definitely stay again if in the area.

Stayed for 2 nights. Our room was good. Tea and coffee facilities. Comfortable bed, good shower. Unfortunately it looked out over the back carpark which ruined the view. Breakfast was good, plenty to choose from. We made use of the drying room after a very wet day going to the summit of Snowden.

Stayed for 4 nights overall everything was really good. Staff so friendly and polite couldn't do enough for you.meals exceptional.so much choice at breakfast and you can have as much as you want.

Perfect for me! Travelled up to climb snowdon and the hotel was in excellent proximity. Breakfast was great. Staff were super friendly. Good value.

The hotel sits up the hill a bit from the other establishments in Llanberis which helps to set the Royal Victoria apart somewhat, especially when relaxing with a cool drink in the well maintained and aesthetically pleasing gardens. Even more to its credit, members of staff here are exceedingly good at making guests feel welcome and valued. The rooms and the food are not five star but for the price you pay I would find it difficult to find too much to complain about. This was our base to walk up Yr Wyddfa / Snowdon and we had a great time. I would recommend The Royal Victoria to friends and colleagues and will return if I feel the urge to walk up the mountain again.

Basic conveniently situated hotel with everything that you need. Rooms are comfortable, however windows don’t open very much so very stuffy and hot. Breakfast is very basic and would be nice if a few more items could be added to the menu like cheese, tomato and cold meats.

We were there for the UTS. Lovely staff, it helped a lot that the hotel accommodated breakfast earlier than usual for the runners. And looked like it was specifically accustomed for the ultra runner (different milks etc) Room was clean, had everything we needed. Bathroom a bit dated but all in working order. Views dining room and location were absolutely perfect. Parking available

Very nice hotel, rooms well equipped and lovely views. Staff were friendly and breakfast was run very efficiently. Floorboards a little squeaky throughout - maybe wouldn't be great for light sleepers. Otherwise very quiet.

Great looking hotel in a perfect location for climbing or riding up to snowdon. Free parking also. But, despite the looks the decor is very old fashioned and not in a classic way, just outdated. My single room was cheap but the room was tiny and fit and finish quite poor with evidence of damp in the corner ceiling and flaking paint. Mattress was also rock hard! Staff were very helpful and friendly though and the breakfast was nice.

Fantastic location for visiting North Wales. The hotel is clean and the food is good. Would happily stay there again.

As a member of a coach party, thought that the hotel was in a beautiful location, ideal for walkers and climbers alike. However, the hotel itself was tired and in need of the ongoing current renovations.The entrance was not disabled friendly as had narrow slate steps.Our bedroom was small and the bathroom tiny, couldn’t open the window because of a chest of drawers and large window sill.The walls were thin and we could hear the conversations of next door occupants. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice( It would have been nice to have cups and saucers as well as mugs) However, the evening meals were awful! Bland, undercooked, uninviting, cold and the majority of the vegetables were frozen. 90% of the desserts were bought in from a catering company. The staff that were serving the evening meals were young and inexperienced in table service and manners! Proper training would be invaluable. The meals served to other individual guests that were staying were of a superior quality and looked far more appetising! Apart from location would not recommend being part of a coach tour visiting this hotel.

Stayed at the hotel in the run up to Easter for a couple of nights. Friendly, helpful staff, a clean room and steak cooked as requested. The wine was good quality for the price. Great location. Would stay here again.

Wonderful time returning to celebrating our anniversary after we had our wedding reception there many years ago! Warm welcome, friendly service and food in main restaurant was amazing! Great night sleep in their Slate room, beautiful views of area despite the weather!

Friendly, helpful staff. Hotel tired but adequate. Stayed here on a coach trip and experienced some of the worst food served on a holiday. Much of the food was inedible as it was not cooked, no thought given to presentation, obviously kitchen staff had on interest in what they were dishing up. Food often cold and people complained about very small portions. Food for independent travellers looked excellent . Have not been on holiday before where people refused meals. Coach parties beware!

A lovely hotel, which feels like a home. Brilliant food served inside the hotels with access to restaurants and bar. My wife in particular loved the area it was situated in because in front of the hotel it was snowdonia mountains and on the left it was slate mountain. The staff at the restaurant are great too.

Stayed at this hotel during a 5 day coach trip .the room looked recently modified however the bathroom sink was very small .so small we couldn't even fill the kettle and used bottled water. But this was a minor issue. The room was cleaned and maid up every day with clean towels and fresh tea and coffee .views from the hotel are stunning.and snow the day before we left set it off . Staff are very friendly. Although not one for evening entertainment, preferring a drink in the lounge, we joined in with the bingo which was hilarious and free 😀. Would definitely stay again .

The location of the hotel is beautiful and our room was comfortable, unfortunately the food let it down. As one member of a coach party we were asked to all dine at the same time, this resulted in cold food for the evening meal, breakfast was also difficult if you used a stick or walking aid as the breakfast bar, where you had to help yourself, was at the far end of the large dining room next to our smaller one, it is not possible to carry a tray and use a walking aid.

Breakfast choices were fantastic and delicious with a good selection of cold and hot buffet items 😘. We initially stayed for 2 nights in the coach house. Staff were accommodating when we added on an extra night's stay in the coach house after becoming freezing and exhausted (but feeling a sense of achievement) from summiting Yr Wyddfa in the snow 😁. Just be aware it is a bit of a walk from the reception area to the coach house, which is connected to the main hotel (coach house area does not have a lift if you are carrying luggage). Location of the hotel itself is great and only a few minutes walk to the start of the Llanberis path 👍🏻.

The hotel is in a great location.The Llanberis trail up Yr Wyddfa, the slate museum and hospital, Lake Padarn and the little steam railway are all on the doorstep. The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. We've stayed there a number of times and some of the rooms are very small with poor views, but this time we asked for a nice room with a view and we got one. Food is pretty good, but if you are part of a coach trip don't expect a restaurant experience. We were lucky to get a table to ourselves whilst most people had to share. I think they assume that if you're on a coach trip, you all know each other. Other than that, the hotel is a grand old building with lovely views and it's own castle in the grounds. We enjoy our stays there.

Hotel is beautifully situated being both quiet and convenient. Staff helpful. Room in good order and warm which is important when the weather is cold as it was during my stay. I would definitely stay at the hotel again.

Would happily stay again. The woodland and Castle (ruins) behind the hotel was a plus and enjoyable. Great views of the lakes.

We had a lovely 3rd stay at the Royal Victoria earlier this week rooms well decorated and included everything we required, the breakfast was lovely as were the meals we enjoyed in the bar after our stroll up Snowdon, staff great asset to the hotel to.

Fantastic location, right by the walks. Fantastic views, clean rooms. Breakfast is buffet snd yummy. Gf options at breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Enjoyed a two night break in this friendly hotel with excellent food and comfortable room.

Despite visiting in the most awful weather, the hotel and staff made our stay very memorable and we would definitely recommend using this hotel and we will again. We did not use the restaurant but we did eat in the bar and the food was excellent. Very good portions and very well presented. The buffet breakfast was excellent with lots of choice to suit all tastes. The cleanliness of the hotel and our room was very good. My only recommendation would be to have a top sheet as well as a duvet as I did find the duvet too warm. Not a criticism just a suggestion. All in all very good value for the money paid

Brilliant location and staff very friendly. Breakfast was excellent too. It's a fairly basic hotel, a bit tired looking in places, but for the price it's a bargain. And the location, staff and Breakfast more than make up for that. Definitely will come back.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was very clean, warm and comfortable. The staff were extremely polite, the food was excellent with a varied selection! At meal times our food was delivered, very efficiently by hardworking staff. Ryan, the Restaurant Manager worked equally as hard helping his staff at all times! A great asset!

I’ve been to Llanberis before and admired the hotel from afar. I was delighted to have the opportunity to stay there on St David’s Day. The location is stunning. Our very clean room was lovely with an extremely comfortable bed. Our en-suite was bigger than I expected. Although I didn’t need it, there was an iron and ironing board in our wardrobe- very handy. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful and staff were helpful and friendly throughout our brief stay.

Location is great for walking to Snowdon Summit.

The Royal Victoria is a comfortable and well-appointed hotel ideally situated for access to Snowdonia. It has plentiful parking, and a pleasant bar with a good bar menu. The room was cosy and a good size. Staff were generally courteous and helpful. Breakfast was great if you want a fry-up, but if you're looking for fresh fruit or porridge, you will be disappointed.

Very good, plentiful breakfast. I have some reservations about the cleanliness of the room, the cups were not replaced and they were not washed. The location is great, especially close to Snowdon Mountain

We love this hotel, it is quite close to us being North Wales residents but it gives us a lovely break, whilst still being near enough if needed. Great location, views and grounds to explore. Nice to see refurbishment going on around the hotel, I hope this includes the outside an gives it a facelift. So much info on the walls, and in the folder in the rooms. Interesting menu and very pleasant dining rooms. Comfy roomy doubles, shower lush.

We enjoyed everything about our stay apart from our room must have been above a boiler room hence the constant hum. We didn't pay full price so it would have been churlish to moan.

Hotel being extensively renovated. It's not a problem and such a wonderful hotel needs to be refreshed. It's one of the old 'grand dames' type hotel, popular with the elderly and with walkers given its proximity to the Llanberis path to Y Wyddfa. Wonderful views and whilst the coach house building is a bit unsightly from the outside, the rooms are suitably done for the price point they operate at.

Fortunately, I only ate breakfast there, which was terrible, and the lady at the hot buffet mocked my girlfriend, not knowing that Im her boyfriend and I can see it.
