Just passed by doing some walking and asked if we could leave our car at the parking. The kindness of the reception was overwhelming. Need to come back. In addition to that the walk that ended at the campsite was beautiful.

Nice quiet holiday park, well maintained and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Best time to visit is outside of the school holidays if looking for a peaceful escape. Short walk into Porthmadog, and easy enough to drive to anywhere in North Wales from here. Should note: The gate to the site is locked 10pm - 7.30am, which can be a bit of a problem is like to be out late or go out early in the morning.

Tyddyn Llwyn is a excellent caravan park right in the heart of Porthmadog. It has a lovely bar/restaurant on site, which is hosted by a fantastic and friendly team of staff and serves a brilliant Sunday dinner; the pork and beef are to die for! The facilities onsite are cleaned daily. There's also a small store that offers a variety of essentials should you need them. The caravan parks grounds are immaculate. Our stay is always peaceful and we continue to return. I would highly recommend a short stay or a seasonal pitch. You won't be dissapointed.

The camper site was lovely and clean, making our stay comfortable from the start. The site itself was well-maintained, with showers that were both hot and spotless The highlight of our visit was the friendly and welcoming warden. She knew my name as soon as we pulled in and made a point of chatting with us throughout our stay, which made us feel truly welcome. Our granddaughter, Lillie, particularly enjoyed the warm atmosphere. Overall, a fantastic place for a family getaway, and we look forward to returning soon!

Went for a long weekend..weather mixed but only rained on the day of arrival. Porthmadog is a lovely place , surrounded by wonderful north Wales mountains scenery and great walks. The caravan/camper site takes full advantage of the area and also provides excellent amenities and a top notch restaurant and pub. Try the meat pie... but go hungry . Its huge I can't rate the rooms as we had our own vehicle.

Very friendly people who work here made us feel welcome. Showed us to our pitch which was a nice size. Good location to a little cove through a little wood and to little beach's with cafe and pub. Pub food on the site was very good. Felt the site was a tad expensive as 2 adults and 2 children £53. Then had to pay 50p each for a shower, crazy they aren't inwith the price, we hired a house in whitby for half term and it cost £420, so if campsites are going to charge this much then people will just rent a cottage/house. Had to walk to dispose of rubbish on edge of campsite as no bins on site. Understand as there's wild life about and takes more effort to keep emptying the bins. We had a nice time just thing the above needs to be looked at

We decided to eat on the site on our last night. We both ordered ribeye steak and chips, and I had a chicken liver pate starter. The food arrived ridiculously fast which at the time I didn't mind so much as I was starving. The presentation was lovely but I was disappointed with the food. The bread was a par-baked roll that you can get in lidl or tesco. There was no butter. The pate was just plonked on the plate. From a packet, cut in half. Not even made to look like any effort had been put into preparing the food. It was tasty though especially the onion marmalade. The steaks arrived, i ordered medium rare, which it was. However it was so tough and chewy and there was grizzle in every mouthful. I ate what I could but ended up leaving most of it. Very disappointing. It wouldn't stop us to returning to the campsite but wouldn't eat there again. The male member of staff was really friendly and offered us money off. Generally the staff we met there were pleasant enough, when we got our drinks there in the evenings. All except one. She obviously doesn't want to be working there. Unfortunately we didn't get her name but she was miserable looking and unapproachable. We both found her very rude. I wouldn't recommend eating here but I would recommend the campsite.

This site is supposed to be in the top 100 sites in the UK. Can't understand how. We stayed for 7 days as we had paid for them, otherwise we would have moved on. All units be it caravan or motorhome are all on top of one another. Hardly any space between them. No bins on site, you have to take it to the site entrance. Showers are 50p a go, never paid on any site before. The shop/reception closes its doors at 5pm, very early for the height of summer. The Hotel/bar on site is not owned by the site. Take a wide berth. We ate there on the Friday night. It was not packed we had a table very easily. The food we were advised would be 1 hour. When it arrived the steak was cold, the chips in a basket were all the little tiny ends from the frozen bag and the onion rings were so fried to a crisp you could not eat them. We were given another meal to replace it which came in another 10 minutes by which time the rest of the party (of 4) had finished. On the way out of the bar the Chef came to see us and was so rude it was appalling. He was dressed in cut off jeans and a Tshirt hardly Chefs Whites. While he was dismissing the fact that the meal was atrocious he then in mid conversation started to talk in Welsh to another local couple leaving. We had no apology what so ever. This site and the bar have absolutely no customer service and it seems to me that all they want is your money and when they have that they could not care less. In my opinion give this place a miss.

Campsite was clean and the surroundings are beautiful. Toilets are really clean, the showers are good and the staff were helpful and polite. There is a nice bar onsite (didn't eat there but food is available) and the couple who run it made us very welcome. Good ales are available and an alright wine list. Bad points: you have to pay 50p for a 10 minute timed shower and 20p for a hairdryer or a plug to plug in your own. It's a bit of a struggle to find a flat area to pitch a tent. We were lucky but I now understand previous comments here on this point. Some areas are quite steep. Also to note Porthmadog is walking distance (or a quick bus trip if you don't want to tackle the hill on the way back!) but it's not a particularly nice place so if you want to go out for a meal you may have to drive in the evenings.

First year we'd actually gone here to eat - after the disappointment of Spooner's - and it was fine. Considering the write up on their website I found this restaurant to be nothing special, and quite expensive with limited choice. The Sunday carvery was extremely disappointing, no beef or lamb available, the vegetables could have been better, mushy cauliflower with what was described as a stilton cheese sauce was an insult. Lessons on making a roux as the base to classic sauces would not go amiss. I also found it annoying that the "chef" in attendance was more interested in the tv in the bar than keeping the food service area clean and tidy and tidying the food to make it more presentable. This could be an exceptional restaurant with a bit of application and imagination but at the moment is on a par with most pubs.

We have just returned from a 3 night camping stay (4 adults and 3 children). The campsite is lovely, very picturesque and well maintained. The main toilet block is clean and warm. It's 50p for a shower but that gives you plenty of time, the only downside is having to keep pushing the button back in because it only lasts about 20 seconds before turning itself off, quite annoying when midway through washing your hair! The showers/toilets are pretty good otherwise! There is enough on the site to keep the kids amused, the woods and stream were great for the older ones to explore (12 and 9) and my 3 year old was more than happy running around the spacious field where we pitched the tent, the small playground was also good for her. The only thing the children weren't impressed with was the games room, 2 of the games in there were not working so that only left one game and the pool table. The only other thing was the noise coming from a group of campers that pitched up on our last night (a group of friends from what we could see rather than a family), obviously over excited about being there and were quite rowdy for a few hours. We finally got some sleep sometime after midnight after asking them to keep the noise down on several occasions. The restaurant is ok, slightly overpriced in my opinion baring in mind the quality is just standard, the barmaid was quite miserable and abrupt but our meal was ok. We ate in here just the once and decided to venture out the other couple of nights because there are places which are similarly priced but the food and atmosphere are better than the onsite restaurant. All that said, in a nutshell this is a lovely site for camping, it's clean, well maintained and relaxed, the staff are polite and helpful but the restaurant needs improving and updating. We would be happy to stay again.

Went here last Sunday for Carvery as it was recommended, well I won't be returning soon thats for sure! We ordered our food & drink at the bar, we were told 6 meats to choose from & 13 veg! When we got to carvery no one to serve us, the chef eventually came, you could not choose your roasties & yorkshire pudding, he put them on your plate, the cauliflower & broccoli were in pots with lids so you couldn't see them, then there was a table with all veg, some of the veg I could not recognise what they were, there was leeks but seemed as if they were floating in milk. Lots of different cabbage, well thats what I thought they were! From where we sat we could see the carvery, the chef disappeared again. More people arrived, by this time there was quite a queue for the carvery & no one to serve them, thats not good in my opinion. The food was cold only hot food was the mash, beef was tough & no taste to the pork, but after being told at the bar that they have 13 veg there was no new potatoes to be seen anywhere. There was a couple with a young boy, he dropped his plate & the food was left there on the floor for a good 5 mins before it was picked up, in the meantime people had to tip toe in between to get food. I think this is not good. The helper came from the kitchen to put more roast potatoes out, he just threw them on top & picked what was left out of the tin with his hand, this is not hygienic & being a local I knew who he was & I was disgusted that he even worked in a kitchen to be honest, this has completely put me off the place.

We ate here on the recommendation of a local taxi driver. Not at all impressed. We arrived at the same time as a large party , and were told we could not order food for about 40mins as they were "too busy". The term "steakhouse" is not really appropriate. The steaks were of mediocre quality, served with frozen chips on a wooden board. Certainly not worth the £17.50 cost. Overall we spent (including beer, wine and food ) about £60, After the meal we asked for the wifi password, to be abruptly informed that it would cost us £2 each. Needless to say we didn't bother. We visit North Wales annually, and there is far better food/steaks to be had in local pubs etc at a far more reasonable price.

No attempt at any warmth and made us feel very uncomfortable. Any attempt at conversation with this sour faced woman was nipped in the bud. You now have to pay up front which I find a bit off. The food arrived on a piece of wood. Not impressed as it didn't look very clean. I had four chunks of lamb served with frozen chips onion rings and a tomato. Didn't think it was value for money and the coleslaw and olives I had came in a tiny dishes and had obviously been stood uncovered for a few hours. My partners brisket was no better. Sweet sickly sauce and beef was dry and hard in places. Small portions too. We won't go back. Not even for a drink. Avoid, as there are much better places to eat and drink.

Menu stated "Eggs" with Gammon steak, however only one egg is served. Lasagne & gammon steak meals served cold. Waiter took meals away saying he would re do them, however the original meals were just re heated. The Gammon was reserved minus the "egg" so the dish went back again and an egg was added.Bar Manager had seen the issues we had and to be fair to him he refunded the price of meals in additional to a round of drinks. He explained the Chef had a night off and the "boys" were running the kitchen. Next day summed up the meal as I suffered a dodgy stomach. With so many other nice places in the area to dine out we never felt any desire to go back. A real shame! Aside from the Restaurant, I had paid for a "premium" serviced pitch, upon arrival I found that the fresh water and grey waste to be on the WRONG side, not just wrong side of the van, but about another 5ft past a 3 meter awning. Therefore a standard 7.5m fresh water hose length was not long enough and the grey waste had to be cobbled into the pitch uphill from me - far from ideal! Despite questioning the available services when I booked this was not explained to me before hand. I have to say the park warden was very accommodating in helping resolve the issue. All was well until someone pitch up next to me wanting to use the services on their pitch, I returned to find my water connection thrown back onto my pitch with no new solution and because they had pitched up close to the services to over come the same issue I was left with about 4 feet gap between my van and their awning. To fix the water supply I was forced at late evening to source a length of hose and suitable connections. Had I been aware of the situation I could have been prepared taking longer hoses etc from home. Although the showers were very new, clean and good,, when paying the price of a "premium" pitch I would not expect to have to pay a further 50p for a shower.Having said all this the site is very well maintained, its in a great location and seems to be very popular. Please be aware my rating is for the restaurant and not the campsite.

Food was expensive for what it was and the vegetables were old and overcooked.....so much so that I returned the Broccoli, as it was yellow rather than green!!! In fairness, I was offered a replacement but I refused as did not fancy the chances of getting anything better. The waitress was dour and when we stated at the end of the meal, that my husbands coleslaw was terrible , she just took it and left without a word of apology! I find it odd that you have to pay up front for your meals... what redress do you have if it is unsatisfactory?? We won't eat there again, so will will be voting with our feet!! It's a shame really as it could be so good., and has been in the past.It needs to be consistently great and have campers prices to get a regular customer clientel. This place lets the Brilliant Campsite, the campsite owners and staff down!

Went on Sunday evening as a family of 6, ordered a mixture of grill dishes and traditional all which was well cooked and good portion size and quality. The brisket not as good as some specialist steakhouses but also not as £££ and it is a pub at the end of the day. The BBQ chicken breast with bacon and cheese was amazing according to two of the party that had it. Would return again, fancy to try the pulled pork next time

Been here twice for food, meat was okay although the beef nearly broke my mates tooth it was so tough! Wasnt too amused with the selection of veg! Half of it was different kind of cabbage, but all steamed or boiled! Tastless! Had carrots and they tasted like they'd been boiled in rotten lemon juice! Stuffing was clearly slop from a packet! Next time dont add as much water! My pork was very dry and ended up leaving over half of it on the plate! And before people think, im a chef myself so i know good food! Anyways came back today (5th of july) was hesitant on going because of the veg selection! My friends convinced me to go so i went! There was 6 of us so two cars of three! My car got there first so we went in to look for a table! It was quite busy so we went round the corner and saw two tables that we thought would fit us all on so we pushed them together not blocking any pathways or doors! There was tables for 6 but sitting only 3-4 people on the, so maybe they should choose where people sit especially in the summer! Anyways the woman in the bar asked us with a sarcastic face how many of you are there? Which i answered with 6? The man then came over and started seperating the tables saying very rudly that it was against health and safety for the tables to be together? Makes no sense to me or mh friends! He said that's how it is and thats how it will be all summer! He didnt offer to find us a table for all of us and simply walked off! What a rude gentleman! I walked out and said to my frineds that i refuse to give them my money when thats how they treat their locals! Just remember that the tourists will soon go home and will leave you with only the locals! So show some respect to the people that will be the key to staying open in the Winter! Won't visit again!

As usual the camping facilities were good, lots of space and friendly reception. It's a shame that this isn't reflected in the bar restaurant. On arrival we headed to the bar for refreshment after a long drive and any attempt at banter or conversation was rebuffed by the female bar staff member and we felt that she didn't care for our custom. Others said the same. Reluctantly went back on another night and the same indifference, it was better when the man was on duty, though. We use this site a lot but will think twice about using the bar restaurant in future.

I only found the restaurant by accident towards the end of my trip to Porthmadog, but it was so good that I ended up going back the following night as well. The food is all fresh and well prepared and the portion sizes are really large so it makes it really good value for money. I had the cajun chicken the first night which was on the special offer, and although the bolognese I had the following night wasn't the best, the rest of my party's meals were universally wonderful. Will definitely return again when I go back in the area again - I just hope at one stage that they bring in a table ordering service, as I don't enjoy having to go to a bar to order food when I'm out. It's a small gripe and more a personal preference, but it's one thing I think would really improve an already good foody experience.

Excellent food, freshly cooked, good selection and very reasonably priced. They also do a carvery on Sunday lunch time and I was told that was fantastic, so much so they sold out by 2pm!.I had battered cod with mushy peas, chips and salad. The batter on the fish was the best Ive ever tasted. Think it cost round £10. Very well worth it.Only one down side for me, the food is all served on wood chopping boards? Why?I would definitely go again when in the area.

WE always eat here when camping. Once again we were not disappointed. Last time we were here we saw another table with the most enormous pizzas, so it had to be pizzas. When they arrived, oh my! Huge crisp thin base with the most gorgeous combination of flavours in the topping. Massive dressed salad- I love salad and hate it when restaurants treat the salad as a garnish, so this was a lovely surpise to find as much care had gone into the salad as the main- this was freshly prepared with nice crisp lettuce. We were stuffed, but had to go for cheesecake dessert- I love a good cheesecake- this was sublime! Dylan comes out to chat to see if you were happy with your meal. The waitress was lovely and friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and wines. I saw her discretely looking over the diners to see if all was ok, which was lovely a change from waiting staff either being invisible or in your face every 5 minutes. The bar and restaurant has had a makeover, with a new friendly barman. There is a log fire and real ales. Next time I want to try the grill menu. Always get value for money from beautifully cooked locally soursed food. Sunday carvery is fabulous too

Just returned from 5 days camping at tyddyn llwyn and what a lovely place this is, we were welcomed by a really nice lady in reception on arrival and give all the information we needed and given directions to our pitch, we were staying on a electric pitch with our tent and it was plenty big enough for our 9 man tent. The park itself was really well looked after and the toilet/shower block was great, yes you have to pay 50p for a shower but they are loverly and hot and last for ever so I for one dont mind .I had read the reviews about the bar /restaurant and was cautious about going but we did on our last night we was welcomed by the couple behind the bar and had a seat in the restaurant, the food we had was beautiful and plentiful and the service was friendly I could not fault it and wonder what people expect for pub food , my only regret is that it was our last night otherwise I would have definitely gone again.all in all it's a great friendly park with great facilities and we will definitely be returning

I've done quite a few reviews on Sunday lunches as I hate making them and love eating them. I think we've been to pretty much all purveyors of Sunday lunches in the area but Dylan's was undoubtedly the best. Served as a carvery there is a choice of no less than six different meats, between us we had the beef, ham and lamb, all delicious. But the real joy was the vegetables, not only a vast variety but all cooked differently and to perfection. None of the stodgy school dinner stuff you get at some carveries. It's open as a steak house for the rest of the week, with lots of other stuff on the menu too so I think we may have to sample that too.

We have stayed here last year and decided to return. We would return again but won't visit the bar next time. The pro itself is very clean and peaceful. The young guys working there are very helpful and friendly always acknowledged us and helped with our tent. The only reason this campsite has not achieved excellent from us is the bar, the lady behind the bar is not friendly and not what you expect from a barmaid. For a site that allows dogs this bar no longer does so when it's cold you don't want to sit outside the bar. When having a drink at the weekend ordering and paying for the drinks no eye contact was made from the barmaid and found her very rude. This is a shame as other people we spoke to said they noticed a change fromLast year and how unfriendly the bar had become. Such a shame as we loved coming here. Friends also went to use the toilet to be told you carnt use these as cleaning them maybe a friendly sorry would help by the man. Going camping again at the end of the month but might try another site.

This is a review for the caravan park as did not use the restaurant. We stayed for tour nights the last week of October in a touring caravan with electric hook up. We were greeted in the reception by very friendly staff who welcomed us, explained where our pitch is on a park map, and wished us a good stay. We found the pitch easily as the site is only small, but really nice. There are 2 sets of toilet/ shower blocks 1 very basic, but another superb! That has plenty of room in both the toilets and the shower cubicles, with a sperate area in cubicle with a bench to put your dry clothes on. The showers are 50p to use, but me and my daughter shared a shower and there was plenty of time for both of us to have a hot refreshing shower without rushing. There are no bins on the site, you are asked to put your rubbish in the skip by the entrance on your way out of the park, which was no trouble at all.It also has a small park, which my 12 year old loved! We had a great time, we love porthmadog and all it has to offer, we will return to this park next year, but will stay in a tent. I thoroughly recommend this site to anyone.

We stayed here in our camper van as we were unable to get camper van tickets for festival no6. Glad to have stayed here as it was nice to not camp at a festival but to have nice facilities. We had a good spot on an electric pitch, even though we did not need electric as was told it was all that was available. Funny that as there seemed to plenty of non electric plots! Hope this wasn't an attempt to charge us more!Great clean toilet/shower/washing up facilities. You have to put 20p in the slot for shower/plug for hair dryer. Complimentary dryer was not working. On site shop selling supplies- mainly camping accessories, kids toys and confectionary. A small fruit selection would have been welcome but that maybe asking too much. We did not use the bar restaurant. Whilst in the shop/reception over heard a camper complaining about noise during the night from neighbouring campers. Didn't notice anything myself probably due to being away from the noise luckily. Looking at previous reviews, the wardens were on it. Suppose it's luck of the draw! We had a good experience but would prefer to be offered non electric next time as requested.

This has been out second summer holidaying at Tyddyn Llwyn with our caravan, children and dogs. It's a superb site, very friendly and welcoming. The staff are super and will help you manoeuvre your caravan if you are new to it or uncertain. The caravan pitches are excellent (some of the tent sites are on slopes) and the toilets are great. The main block is best, super-luxurious, but the others are fine as well. Always clean and tidy. The showers are 50p a go but you get ages and the water is always piping hot. We didn't eat at the pub this year, but the food looked excellent when we dropped in for a drink. It does seen a shame that all the games that used to be available in the family room have been scrapped however. From the site you can easy walk into Porthmadog (10 to 15 minutes and pavement all the way). You can also walk on footpaths to Borth-y-Gest, which is a lovely little seaside village. The climb up Moel-y-Gest is well worth doing as the views are stunning. This is a great place for a holiday and we will be back. Thanks to all the staff for making it so good.

We stayed for 3 nights Friday to Monday and every night we were approached by warden's, 2 nights we were blamed for noise complaints because they thought we were the Liverpool gent's nextdoor (who wasn't noisey at all to us) when we're from Cheshire and were out from mid-day to evening, the last 3 night were due to another camper who had some kind of problem with us even though me and my family camp alot so i am very considerate to other campers. We both a gorgeous beef curry with rice and a poppadum- it was better than any of the local Indian takeaways. The portion was more than generous, with big chunks of meat and lovely spicy, non-greasy sauce. It was washed down with some lovely real ale. The wife and I were staying at the campsite and thought that we would eat here to save the walk into town. At first we were not sure if this was wise, but our fears were unfounded. We both ordered sirloin steak and chips, the wife had a side of peppercorn sauce which was big enough to share, I did notice a lack of background music, but no big deal although I could hear a few (perhaps just the one) bambino(s) squawking from the family room.Although service, particularly at the bar was very good, it was more "matter of fact" than pretentious, which to be honest is just the way that I like it.Food was served in a timely manor. The plates were warm and had a balsamic drizzle which was a nice touch. Worryingly, the size of the steaks was not mentioned on the menu but they were certainly of an adequate size, maybe 8 - 10 oz. The cost of the steak was £16.50 and the sauce £2.95, at the top of the price range for pub food.Orders for food and drink are placed at the bar. We ran out of ale mid meal and I suppose the waitress missed a sale by not offering a top up, but this is more of an observation than a criticism. I`ll stock up next time. The meal itself was particularly nice. Steak cooked to perfection (rare), nice chips and the best onion rings ever. It was served with mushrooms and a tomato, but for some reason I was expecting salad - possibly an error on my part? A really enjoyable meal and we both agreed that it was one of the nicest pub steaks that we have had for a long time.

I wish we never bothered went in and had to sit in the "family" room, which seemed neglected and dated we then had to push two tables together because there were 5 of us, when i requested a meal for our 3 year old i was told the fryers are off on sundays so no childs menu only the carvery. The staff told us to ask for a plate just so we could share a little with our little man which was nice instead of pushing a childs price meal onto us for a couple of peas and carrots because thats all he ate ), but then greeted at the meat stand by what i believed to of been the "chef" who seemed very uninterested and had a terrible and arrogant attitude well if he was the "chef" id strongly suggest he get a timer to avoid burning his roasties and learn to make the gravy a little bit thicker than water, was looking forward to this meal but was very dissapointed and wont be returning here again when were back in the area shortly.

It's a shame you can't review the campsite separate from the restaurant because the campsite part would have got 5 stars off us as it is fantastic it has friendly staff probably the nicest shower and laundry block I have ever seen and is a lovely place to stay. However we are reviewing the restaurant which unfortunately was probably one of the worst establishments that I've eaten in a very long time. Aside from the fact that there were little stickers all over the menu which were the things they didn't have so I ordered a burger and they didn't have that either. When the food that we did order eventually came it was rubbish my wife had the cod which was so raw a good kiss of life would have resuscitated it so it had to be sent back with the very apologetic waitress I had the lasagne which was supposed to be freshly prepared. It wasn't it had gone burnt congealed and rubbery typical of something that had been microwaved and the chips that were supposed to be hand cut were like something you would find at the bottom of a bag of oven chips little bits of crisp scrag ends that looked like they were going to run out of chips as well. My son and I had finished eating by the time my wife's fish came back which looked like they had bludgeoned it with an axe to get it to cook. By this time my wife wasn't interested in it any more so we took it back for the dog and even she turned her nose up at it and our dog like most isn't fussy. Never the less I paid the bill and as we were about to leave the woman I believe to be the landlady came over and asked if everything was ok in the end to which I replied no. She was very apologetic but said I should have told her before I paid the bill. I don't really see what difference it made when I told her but it obviously did. She also told me that on that day she had a temporary chef in and that he probably wouldn't be back whether that was true or not I don't know but it didn't make my meal any better for knowing her normal chef wasn't there in my opinion she would have been better telling me there was no food on so I could have gone elsewhere and wouldn't be giving them such a poor review.

I hope you find this review helpful. I've given my honest opinion and listed everything I can remember. It is a long one so bear with me! I went camping with my 6yr old daughter (unfortunately as my husband is in the army and currently training in canada, he couldn't come ).Firstly, Well kept grounds, very polite reception /shop staff, lots of leaflets on what to do in the area. No hassle check in! Shop sells NO meat, but does stock local milk, cheese, butter, no proper bread but has long life bread rolls (?) which tasted ok! Croissants are good too! Wifi is available but before you buy it, make sure you are able to get signal at your pitch or inside of your van/tent/caravan. I was lucky to get 1-2 bars sat in the awning. (Pitch 31.)There is only 1 bin on site (or rather off) and that's by the entrance/exit. So be prepared to walk up a few hills with bin bags/doggy bags. I wasn't too bothered by this though, at least the smell was restricted to one area! Games room is by the reception. I never saw anyone in there! There's a lovely little shallow stream and woods for the kids to go exploring in and that's where most of the kids were! Children's park is at the top of the hill. It has monkey bars, slide and a few balance things. No swings though.Water taps a plenty throughout the site! Chemical waste disposal by the toiletsTOILETS: Cleaned everyday between 3.30pm and 4.15pm (I think) Motor home side toilets are dated and in the morning, very very cold. There are 4 toilet cubicles and 3 showers. Could really do with updating or heating at least! Newer toilet block is much warmer and feels cleaner but only 3 showers and 3 toilets in that block. Worth the short trek up the hill to have a warmer shower. Cost 50p for a shower and 20p hairdryer. If you have your own hairdryer or straighteners, it's another 20p to use their plug socket. £2 to use the washing machine.. you will need at least £3 for the dryer to dry your clothes (that's with a light load!) Pitches are clean, quite level and on stone. They are however very close and cars end up parked on the grass right next to your van. Local shops are at least a 20-25 minute walk (with children) there are hills so bear that in mind! There are some fab little cafés to choose from. The site does feel a bit far out so unless you're really into your biking or have a car, you'll have a long walk everywhere. Only real complaint : Restaurant.. I decided on our last night to give it a try after reading good reviews on it. When I went in, the barman came across as very abrupt to me. I felt quite quickly that I was a hindrance. I noted his rudeness to another family as they wanted to push tables together because there were 8 in their group. I was mid ordering and the bar man (without apology) cut me short and began shouting at the grown men who were simply pushing tables together. (the barman totally put me off at this point.) I finally got to order my food and sat down in the corner out of the way. 10 minutes later, a woman appeared and apologised to the family. I will say however, that the waitresses are lovely and very friendly. High 5 to the girls! The newly decorated dining area that is shown in photos is only for adults. Families are put in the back room that's very dated and feels dirty. (I was disappointed as I was looking forward to sitting in there, my daughter is very well behaved and sits quietly.) In the 'family' room, there's 2 tvs showing sky sports and music playing over it (currently listening to Ant n Dec - let's get ready to rumble.) There's a pool table. Old style blue carpets, depressing dark maroon painted walls, ugly curtains, old light fittings and old miss matched tables (probably the old stuff from the newly decorated dining area) I ordered the cajun chicken which was off the 'special' board. It was dry yet swimming in fat. I only ate the chicken because I was so hungry! Onion rings were very deep fried and left little to be desired. There wasn't much onion left in it tbh! Mushrooms (all 3 of them) were also swimming in some fluid but we're edible. The chips tasted very strange and I could only manage 3 before feeling like I was going to be sick. My daughter ordered the kids fish fingers, chips and peas. All again, very deep fried and tasteless but she enjoyed the peas. . I decided not to order dessert, I didn't want to waste any more money, told the waitress who was very polite and thanked me for the feedback and I then left. Maybe I arrived on a bad day but it wasn't all it was cracked out to be.... Save your money and go elsewhere. All in all I did have a relaxing break, the weather was good (ok a few showers but it's Wales, not the Algarve!) and my daughter made plenty of friends. Just a shame that the restaurant and barman ruined it. I'd not rebook here personally because it's just a bit too far away from anything but if it's what you like then you'll enjoy it!

I can't believe the previous reviewer who left early and wrote a bad review- were they at the same camp site? the staff are always friendly, from the reception, wardens and bar and kitchen staff. They're not in the list of the country's top 100 campsites for no reason. We go several times a year and have always been treated with respect, courtesy and cheerfulness. The bar has a designated children's area and the showers are always hot- I don't mind paying for them- has the reviewer seen the price of electricity lately? They do have overheads you know.Anyway, that aside, it's great to be back after the winter break. The refurbished bar serves real ales and there's outside seating. There is a blue tits nest in the ciggy bin on the wall, so smokers will have to smoke elsewhere! The restaurant is one of the best going- great food, beautifully cooked and reasonably priced. We partook in the Sunday carvery- what a feast. We couldn't make our minds up which meat to have, so Dylan gave us a very generous, thick slice of each- pork, lamb, beef, gammon, turkey- all beautifully cooked and lots of flavour. We also had two big roasties, a yorkshire, a choice of creamed leeks, mash, carrots, brocolli, sprouts, peas, mashed swede, gravy, stuffing and appropriate sauces. We stuffed ourselves silly and walked it off on the beach afterwards. Great value and certainly quality food. Lovely real ales from our friendly chatty hosts behind the bar.The kitchen and bar staff are lovely and friendly happy to chat. The evening menu is fantastic- I had a beautiful home made bolognese, last year, served in the Italian style of the pasta stirred in the sauce, instead of the American style of the sauce on top of the pasta. I was impressed as I cook Italian at home and study how it's prepared and served etc. Dylan and staff know what they're doing in the kitchenThe restaurant is open to non patrons and the adjoining campsite is fabulous. We look forward to more good food and ales ;-)

Having watched the bar and restaurant's recent and splendid refurbishment, we were delighted to dine there this evening. There was a good range of vegetarian options [more imaginative than most] and the meal was delicious and generously portioned. There was a warm friendly atmosphere, and the bars are carefully and clearly segregated for those who don't wish to share their evening with young children. A bonus was a charity auction being held in aid of the local school; evidence of the establishment's involvement with the local community too. May Tyddyn Llwyn go from strength to strength!

The restaurant area was lovely, and the carvery was one of the best I have ever had. Tender roast beef, honey & mustard glazed gammon, pork, turkey & chicken. What a choice to pick from. Then there was the freshly prepared vegetables, beautifully seasoned with different herbs. With home made roast potatoes, and freshly made Yorkshire pudding, I am already looking forward to my next visit, as are my family. The cost was very reasonable for adults and children, and the play area for the children was lovely. All in all a great experience, and hats off to the chef.

Set in lovely grounds, great outside play area for the children, on entry there was a sign directing children into the lounge, where there is a pool table and other games to play. The views are lovely. They have a wide choice on the menu, and a child's menu too. I had the penne arabbiata, which I couldn't fault, and my husband chose the rack of ribs, which was huge, and he enjoyed it very much. Great customer service, and we will definitely return next time.

We have just returned from a camping trip here and to be quite honest we left a night early due to the atmosphere and being made to feel unwelcome from the minute we arrived! The attitude of staff was appalling from check in, warden and bar staff. We were looking forward to this week away with our two young children 8 & 3 who were not welcome in the bar we were not able to sit in main bar still failing to understand why on a family campsite children are not welcome!! This was not a cheap site we paid over £30 a night for electric hook up only to find it was more like a boot camp than a relaxing holiday the facilities were lovely and kept extremely clean however after paying per night why you then have to pay for a shower which were only just warm. The site in itself was lovely the only reason I would never return was due to the bad atmosphere and unfriendly staff who in there own comments said they would not have any " old s@*%e" on their site as they only have a certain standard!!!!!!!!

We have just returned from a wonderful weekend of camping at the site but I was extremely disappointed about the atmosphere and "welcome" we received in the family area of the pub/restaurant! There was a separate family area which was designated for families however it was far from family orientated. I have 2 children aged 8 & 6 who we take out to restaurants regularly and are always well behaved!! We were accused twice of moving another customers pound of the pool table when there was a group of older children standing by, not only was it extremely embarrassing it cost us £3 for a game of pool. The owners were abrupt, rude and not child friendly, we won't be returning.

We stayed at greenacres haven in porthmaddog and of course got really bored of the food, so decided to drive into Porthmadog to find a nice pub. As it goes we couldn't. Very few at extortionate prices so headed back. When we spotted a small chalk board advertising home cooked food. Off up the beautiful wooded drive we went. At the top we came to a caravan park with the clubhouse. Please please do not let the view of this put you off. You arrive at the back of the building. So it's not much to look at. We went in to find a lovely welcoming reception area. When you go through the club house is then separated into an adults and a family room. Which is good as if you have no kids you have quiet and if you take the kids. Fine they can play without you being worried. Anyway. The rooms are a little dated. Not bistro but definitely clubhouse. But again ignore this for the view is amazing!!So we ordered. I had the burger. Best I have ever had. My husband had the steak and ale that looked and tasted amazing and the kids had the pasta. Trust me this was some of the best pub food we have had in this part of Wales. At reasonable prices. Apparently they had only had the chef 3 weeks so that's why the sign was so small. But please please try this place. A hidden gem

Awful experience. We arrived around 2 pm, and we asked what the soup was. We were told it was Parsnip and immediately ordered. The member of staff went to the kitchen to ask something and then came out to say they are no longer serving food. We found this odd given that she had just confirmed the soup with the kitchen, and the cafe is open until 4 pm. Fair enough if we were trying to order at 3.45pm, but this was at 2pm. We ordered coffees and welsh cakes, which took 20 minutes to come (cafe was empty, save for ourselves). The rude member of staff then slammed them on the table, didn't even take the items off the tray, and walked off. Never have I had such an awful customer service experience. Complete letdown to what is a lovely area.

A most welcoming local pub with an excellent chef who happily adapted starters into a main for me - veggie! Although menu catered for everyone. Mine hosts were so cheerful & hardworking - many could take a leaf out of their books! The place was absolutely buzzing with people of all ages - locals & holidaymakers having the time of their lives singing along to the live musician of the evening who sang everything from Beatles/John Denver to modern day...talented chap! We will definitely be back - next time we may stay if not during the summer months, perhaps for an Autumn/Spring walking holiday!

We where told that it was a good place to eat and we weren’t disappointed. We had the moose ribs and chicken. The ribs were perfectly cooked and the chicken was very good. A nice place with good service. Can recommend to stay for a bite and a drink.
