Large rustic pub at the foot of Snowdon, very close to the steam railway. We had plenty of space inside, and there were plenty of tables outside. There is a large car park for guests. The Heights is dog friendly. We visited in March 2024 and ordered lunch for 6. The service and food were very good with generous portions.

The food was basically inedible, it was very drab and had the vibe of a dodgy student union bar . 5 mins after ordering, 2 scabby dry beef burgers arrived, with a family sized portion of chips. The worst £30 I have ever spent. Pints were fine, food was shocking. Not what you want after climbing a mountain.

absolutely vile place, don't have a good word to say about it! floors were visibly dirty where people walk, tables so sticky that you had to peel your glass off, absolutely stunk. received the wrong dish and was told by the manager that it was our fault and its what we ordered, then refused to give a refund when we said we wouldn't eat it. was also stared at by locals and spoken to terribly by staff, which i can only assume is because we have strong scouse accents and they seem to hate everyone that isn't welsh. dire place, better restaurant in the hotel less that five minutes down the road.

We popped into the pub to have a meal tonight and first impressions weren't great but at least we would have somewhere to eat. As my daughter and I are both vegetarian we ordered the quorn 'chicken' burger and the cauliflower and red pepper curry. The food arrived- and my daughter was given a chicken curry not vegetarian!! I was unsure as to the origins of my burger too. The chips were disgusting and under cooked. I complained and asked for a new curry. Unfortunately my daughter, who is autistic, was distraught that she could have eaten meat! I cancelled the order and asked for my money back to initially be told by the female that its what I ordered! I stated that I wouldn't do that when we are both vegetarian. She called the male over and didn't even say anything he just shoved the card machine in front of me so I could have a refund for the curry. He would not refund anything else even though it was awful. At this point we were leaving and my daughter was sobbing. The female asked what was wrong and I said it was because of the food and she didn't really seem bothered! Would not recommend based on our experience, or any of the other reviews I have since read. I'd recommend the Royal Victoria Hotel up the road - friendly staff, nice place and good food.

Tried the heights for food, but we’re met with nothing more than disgust on entrance. We were told the kitchen had closed, then a local ordered food no problem straight after we tried. As weren’t Welsh (Newcastle) we were told to try somewhere else. The staff and owners are the type of low life little specimens who abuse the little power they have, if they were in the police they’d be another Wayne Cousins. Avoid at all costs if you’re not a local, atmosphere is dismal and the food already served looked pathetic

They welcomed dogs, which was the reason we went. The first night was ok, the lamb was hot - a bit over cooked so it was solid on some edges but nothing too much to complain about. Service was ok. Went a second time (as the preferred pub was booked). This was busier. Service was slower and fish and chips - massive amount of chips and mushy peas - the fish was poor though.

We chose here because of other good reviews, the pizza was delicious and didn't disappoint! Portions are huge. I had a burger and I'm one of those people that loves a rare steak but thinks burgers should be fully cooked, I also think they should ask how you want your meat cooked if they are planning on serving it pink inside.... I couldn't eat it, and I hate waste. Chips were lovely though. I also asked for a coke and they served me a pint of pepsi, it's not the same!!!!!It's ok for the price, you definitely won't leave here hungry (unless you're fussy like me)

Visited here on 14th October and was greeted by a lovely young lady who quickly found my family a suitable table after she helped me fill in the track and trace.Plenty of sanitiser situated around the bar/restaurant and nhs QR code in various locations this made our family feel very safe indeed.Very Covid safe well as safe as you can get it,they seem to have got it right and knew what they were doing. She quickly took our drinks order and even gave our dog a bowl of water and doggi snacks, nice touch I thought.I was encouraged to try their local ale which didn’t disappoint as I had another one ,my wife had a glass of house wine and also tried an espresso martini cocktail afterwards as she reminded me we were on holiday.I had the 8oz burger which was absolutely amazing which I struggled to finish as it was huge, the chips were so tasty,my wife had the lamb stew which smelt so appetising our two hungry grand children had the kids meals which filled the plate to the brim.,very good value for money. My son in law had a pizza the best he’s ever had I was told .All in all it was a very traditional country pub, good food, good beer and a very warm welcoming feeling inside,if I ever find myself in Llanberis again I would definitely be coming back.Well done to the management and you young lady that waited on us I didn’t catch her name

Stopped here after a day climbing snowden, when we first walked in the smell was like a hospital, however once we were in and seated this wasn’t noticeable. Paper menus, and a specials menu too. A fair bit of choice. We had Nachos for starter which were awesome and soooo big. Then we had Pie and Chicken burger, so much food. The young lad who served us was fantastic and displayed amazing customer service, only sorry I didn’t catch his name.Price was reasonable for 2 eating out at a pub. You have to pay on your card when you order food before the food is bought out, I’m not sure why this is done?? Didn’t see any signs or any note on the menu? If you eat here you will not leave hungry :)

Busy place so clearly popular, did feel like we were being stared at my customers. We were on holiday. Wasnt greeted had to ask whether we find ourselves a seat and order at the bar.....we sat outside at the back and the menu was on the table. Went to the bar to order and they were out of a few things so had to go back and ask my husband again, saw a different menu on a table as we walked in, i asked so are there 2 menus? So my husband ordered off the other. Staff were friendly and laid back, maybe too laid back, was stood at the bar watching 2 girls talk and after their conversation is when 1 acknowledged me and took our order. With these unprecedented times i didn't like the laid back approach. Food was surprisingly delicious. I had a lamb hot pot of some sort and my husband had a burger and chips. Chips were amazing! They asked us to do track and trace and we came back another day just for drinks.

Had recently drove through the village of llanberis in previous months as i was working down south and always stopped at the spar to have a quick drink and scran on the drive back up home and never noticed the heights. Anyway the mrs asked if we could have a few nights away due to me being off work now and the lovely weather and both of ys trying to stop smoking and drinking we need to do something that didnt involve us sittong allday on our arses so we decided to do snowdon and what weather we had to do it.After a heavy trek up the mountain we had worked a proper appetite and we thought there were nowhere in this village that looked to serve any food from just you average pub side like chips or onion rings we decided to go to the spar as that we thought was more suitable for us but as we crossed the road our noses were hit with a lovely grilled smell of Burgers as we found the heights hidden in the shadow of the trees i dont know how a food lover like me never noticed it while working on the deliveries. We were greeted by polite and tidy looking staff the place was properly cleaned through and through we had a variety of places to sit as we had a beautiful view of the lake and woods in the back garden sitting on the decking .The food was superb as we both had the snowdon burger that was packed with flavors and spices and the services from sonia and david to help find us get a way home back to our hotel in caernarfon were so helpful . Definitely recommend and will come again even if it doesn't involve snowdon this time lol! The heights a hidden Gem!!

Visited last week on a Saturday evening. Reasonable pub grub and catered very well for my daughter who is coeliac, the staff were friendly and efficient. However, I felt that in the current situation, social distancing just didn’t exist - tables were close together and the pub crowded. There was a track and trace facility at the door but not obvious and nobody asked us to sign in! ( including the security guy on the main door)! No members of staff wore masks, although at the time of our visit it was not mandatory in Wales - however In all other food establishments in Llanberis that we visited, the staff all wore masks. Just had the feeling that this pub was more intent on increasing the coffers than people’s safety.

Family lunch for four. We wanted a hot meal for lunch so decided to try The Heights. Seated quickly, ordered drinks and food at the bar. Help yourself to condiments. The food looked better than it tasted. My sons burger looked tasty but he left 1/3 of his meal. The burger didn’t look very appetising, and he said the bacon was too salty and very fatty. We all did comment how nice the chips where, but the £64 bill did seem very steep for the quality. Two portions of fish and chips, the batter and fish appeared to have been pre cooked then wanted again, that’s how it tasted. We had food and it did the job but I would not return.

When my partner went to order the half a chicken in the evening they said they had run out but when I spoke to Liam at lunchtime I said this is what I would probably order, he had saved me one, now that’s what I call service and it was cooked to perfection. Having researched venues prior to our 3 night stay in Llanberis, The Heights was on our shortlist based on menu and previous reviews.Originally we had planned to have dinner here on our first night (Wednesday) but it was packed inside and out presumably because of the Eat out to help out scheme. Seeing the number of people queuing to get a table heightened (no pun intended) our enthusiasm to try again the following night. We did just that, and it was the day of our Snowdon climb so we had really built up an appetite. Sadly, our positivity was misplaced... to start with the food was served in cardboard takeaway containers - I've seen a response on a previous review that it's a Covid measure however, no other restaurant I've come across has done this for dining-in. If i want takeaway style food served in takeaway style then charge me takeaway prices! The meals themselves were just about 'OK' - not bad enough to send back or complain about but equally not good enough to ever return or to recommend to others, hence this review.Drinks were fine.Service was fine. And no, contrary to several recent review responses, this is not a false review from a disgruntled competitor! Although if that's the way that criticism is handled then you can see why standards appear to have fallen so far.

Popped into The Heights for a bite to eat and a drink with high expectations and left disappointed. The place was "unkempt" looking and in need of a refresh. The staff were friendly and are doing their best with what they've got. This is a "climbers bar" that charges restaurant prices...not what you'd expect in this area. Our food was served in polystyrene take away containers, and looked as though it had just came out of a freezer. I had the "steak and ale" pie which consisted mainly of gravy and a few bits of meat in a soggy short crust pastry, the accompanying chips and peas were freezer shop fayre. On the plus side the Guinness is as it should be!! I get it that we're in the middle of unprecedented times, and that small business' are struggling to make a living, but there's no excuse for serving "café" type food at restaurant prices. In saying that, The Heights is no different from many other establishments in Llanberis we visited that are doing likewise. I wasn't overly unhappy with my experience, just a bit taken a back at what, and how, we got for our money. We were also subject to the smell coming from the very wet dog accompanying the table next to ours....I like dogs, but not wet, smelly ones, and especially not when I'm eating my dinner.

Just been reading previous reviews and the managers replies which I found unprofessional with their sarcasm and claiming reviews are fake... I can assure you the tables are sticky and after they've acknowledged this through other reviews you'd think they would wipe them more thoroughly. I didn't complain about the sticky table as I'd already had to complain about receiving a drink in a dirty glass. The barmaid was apologetic and replaced with no problem, however the new drink was also in a dirty glass and at this point I didn't want to cause more bother so just accepted the glasses were dirty and left the drink. The food was okay not bad, it comes in takeout boxes which is fine but have seen some people complain about this. They couldn't accommodate a table of 5 which was disappointing as we had to sit on two separate tables and haven't had to do this anywhere else during the pandemic. My partner came here a week ago and said he had no issues but he drank out of a glass bottle and sat outside on the wooden tables.

This was the first suggestions of an issue.Went to place the food order was told the kitchen was closed at 19.15 as they had a back log of orders - come back in 10 minutes and place order. Started drinks and went backafter 10 mins to be told at least another 10 to 15 mins now before we can order - presummably along with everyone else who was waiting.Opend Trip Advisor, looked up another restaurant, phone them and was there and ordering within 10 minutes. Not sure what was going on but the staff I met were not very competent and seemed to lack any customer skills - they need to up their game really here. There were lots of male groups there drinking beer and being loud so not very family friendly. We had walked from out holiday house into llanberis and decided we had earnt a pint. The bar is set up as a one way system that works well with the staff quickly getting drinks and snacks for people. You then leave through a side door and sit on the front of the property. The car park used to be huge but a lot of this has been used for seating which makes sense in the current covid world. Some seating under a couple of huge gazebos, some under umbrellas and some just open to the elements. It was a great day so we sat in the open. My only negative was that everywhere seemed to be smoking with no clear space for non smokers. This lead to our kids breathing other peoples smoke even when we moved seats. Not a deal breaker but one that could easily be resolved and help some families.

Visited The Heights after our morning hike on Saturday to have a much needed drink. All staff were lovely and very welcoming, and we were served quickly despite it being quite a busy afternoon because of the rugby. All 5 within my group were beyond satisfied with our food - and believe me we were starving after the hike! The Heights is not only an ideal spot for hikers like myself, but a great spot for family and friends alike (including your four legged ones). From the staff, the food, the cleanliness of the building and the overall atmosphere, I could not fault The Heights if I tried. I will definitely be returning soon

We came here for a few drinks before our climb the day after. It was okay good service but don't expect anything too fancy as it is for walkers etc. and is a bunk house so it does what it says on the tin.The food coming out did look very nice but we didn't eat.

Visited on a Friday evening after a journey to the area, hungry and ready for a nice supper. Overall it was just OK. Both our meals had cold vegetables that we couldn't eat. The rest of the food was ok as in no complaints but not the best. Service though was friendly and welcoming.

Not a bad place if you're having a drink, food however was average at best. My wife had chicken korma and I had beef lasagna and for £26 we expected alot better. Tasted no better than a microwave meal.

The staff here were very friendly and welcoming. The food arrived quickly and the portions were generous. It’s good pub food so they’re are the usual staples of burger, curry, scampi and sandwiches.

Fantastic pasta, cooked perfectly with a tasty tomato sauce. Made to feel very welcome with our dog. Good beer - only one ale on tap in low season but good that they look after it (as I can imagine it takes a while to get through the barrel.Only observation would be that they’re clearly used to fast service - when it’s not as busy they would benefit from slowing down the service so customers spend more on drinks...

I visited Llanberis as I was on a Mountain training course in the area, stayed for 5 days down from scotland. The place was cold but after a few tough days in the hill it was made better when I arrived and was greeted by Dion and Peter. They accommodated me for the next 5 days and made sure my stay was enjoyable and I was comfortable my entire stay. Can not thank them enough and I will be back in the near future.

After a long walking weekend climbing Snowdon we decided to try the pub for Sunday lunch before the long drive home. We were pleasantly surprised and all thoroughly enjoyed it. Very generous portions and friendly service. The only thing that lets this place down is that it could do with a good spruce up.

Whilst I would like to say I eat here I didn’t as whilst being a restaurant they decided to stop serving food. At first this was for 10 minutes then we were told an hour by a very rude member of staff
