The Heights Bar & Kitchen in Gwynedd

Went for dinner at the restaurant. We ordered 3 “gourmet” burgers. One was okay, the other two arrived with badly burnt buns, overcooked meat, no onions as advertised and one had the stalk of a pepper INSIDE the burger. Overall really poor for the £16 per burger. Very expensive and overpriced. Chips were okay.

Ordered the sausage and mash & steak pie. Also a pile of the best onion rings! The food was really good and hot. The place needs updating really and past its best, but the food was really really good:)

No-nonsense pub with hearty food, a great choice of beers, and friendly service. Absolutely perfect for Llanberis.

Pros: Staff were friendly Negatives: Burgers were definitely not "gourmet" as described and were overcooked and tasteless. The chips were more like crisps due to how thin and nuked they were. Beware as it's not cheap!

Well positioned pub in the centre of Llanberis. We didn't stay but had lunch. The food was freshly made and delicious. The staff were friendly and the place had a relaxed atmosphere. Great place to visit for a quick drink or some food.

We visited Llanberis for 2 nights and visited the Heights for drinks and pizza twice over the course of the trip as we enjoyed it so much. Great drinks, nice pizza but even better staff - thank you for putting on the F1 qualifying for us!

We visited the restaurant for an early dinner. The food was okay but not good. Other guests and background tv / music was too noisy. Tables were not very clean. I wouldn't recommend it unless you just wanna watch live sports and have some beers and food besides.

We stopped here for well earned food and drink after climbing Snowdon. Great food and great customer service. Highly recommended.

Great place, down to earth and lovely food. Simple menu but all you need and enough choice for all. Beer was lovely and cold and welcomed all walks of life, walkers and dogs as well as locals. Relaxed place and lovely staff. Have been here every night since we got here and will come again!

Very disappointing experience, tables were sticky, dead flies in the window sills. Staff are pretty unfriendly. Manager does not seem concerned about his customers. Give it a wide berth is my advice

Went for a breakfast with mates, service was quick but this was unsurprising as most of it was cold. The coffee was awful and really not worth the money we paid. Shame because the place looks good from the outside.

Awful unfriendly service, dirty, dead flies next to the table. Tried to have a conversation with the manager and he just walked away, not interested in his customers. Environmental health and trading standard will close them down within minutes of entering.

Food is horrible and border-line safe. Chips had black burnt dots of used oil all over, burger was fried to black. All that for the same price you pay in gastropubs in Kent or Essex.

Fab pub amazing pizza very friendly staff

Seriously! In my 65 years I have never encountered such rude bar staff. I stood patiently while at least ten customers were served. I was with a Canadian friend and the barmaid instead of serving us, took it upon herself to pour herself a coke and simply ignored us. Unbelievable!! We walk out. Absolutely appalling.

Can't say anything about the rooms. We stayed at a nightly rental a block or two from this place. It was a great place! On to the food: Had the fish and chips tonight. Very good! Fast service.

Just what you want from a little pub after a day climbing Snowdon. Nice atmosphere, pub grub and a well priced pint

What a great little local bar/pub. Our first time in town, and our first trip to this establishment. Service friendly, bathrooms very clean, and food fresh and hot! Nathan and Jac made my wife very happy with some Haddock fish and chips. Barry and Kerry were also very kind. Highly recomend.

The pub smelled bad as soon as we walked in - the hostel was in awful condition. The shower and toilet were disgusting, someone had spat on the floor in the hallway. Awful place, avoid if you can.

The worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in. Dirty beds, poor service and terrible food.

Overall awful. Don’t be fooled by those reviews, the people leaving them have clearly never left the town. It’s dirty, it’s smelly, the hostel rooms are just abysmal. NEVER stay here and also don’t eat here if you value your wellbeing. To give examples, there is no pillows or covers on the beds. The sheets clearly haven’t been washed. The toilet is gross and clearly never cleaned. The shower ditto. There was just a grog on the floor in the hallway. Everywhere you looked was dirty and unclean and smelled.

Great staff and atmosphere, if you are here on holiday come to this pub locals and bar staff are so nice we had great fun. We had the chicken carbonara and it was lovely

Food was good pub grub, good portion and lovely and hot. My husband said his beer was good .The place leaves a lot to be desired, looks like nobody has done any cleaning in there for a long time, dirty. Has the potential to be a great place but definitely needs TLC.

Fantastic reasonably priced breakfast and lovely service from the breakfast manager. Decent bar with sky sports outside seating and quite large. Enjoyed our 2 visits.

Overall really nice place. I had the vegan burger, and it was pretty good. The atmosphere in this place is nice and the service was surprisingly fast! Not much to really say, but it was a nice place.

A popular venue in Llanberis for food & drink, we ate here the two nights we were in Llanberis and the food was good as well as the service.

Geordies on tour had a bite to eat and a pint, lovely staff, friendly and made welcome. Food also delish. Lovely place to visit . 😁

Cane in for a tasty pizza and that’s exactly what I got! Friendly staff, quick service. Walkers and dogs welcomed. Sky sports in big screen (not my thing).

Endroit bizarre, un peu trop désorganisé. Plusieurs pièces avec tables et chaises dépareillées. Nourriture ordinaire.

Decent pub grub after a long hike

Visited Saturday morning for breakfast and then again for an evening meal after a day of climbing. I had a small breakfast in the morning, which was just the right amount of food for me. Served hot and was very tasty. Evening was very busy but still didn't have to wait very long for our food. The chicken and smokey bacon cabonara was absolutely gorgeous. Absolutely mountains of chicken and bacon and pasta plus a couple of slices of garlic bread. Portion was a good size and well worth the money. Highly recommend

After a charity walk up Snowden The Heights were very welcoming and accommodating for our group.great drinks and outstanding food.

Only went there for a bite to eat and some drinks. Nice beer garden at the back. Amazing chips. Fast service. Nice to see home cooked food served in a pub.

Amazing food at The Heights today. It's my husband's birthday, and we went out to this pub to have a good time out. Wasn't disappointed. Though it was full of people, we didn't have to wait long for drinks or for food. The food was delicious. We had burgers, including the vegan burger and chicken nuggets, for my daughter. The chips were the best, along with the nachos and crispy cauliflower. Highly recommend for a drink/ food here.

Cold couscous, greasy chips and contaminated pizza. Had to get our own cutlery from inside when we were sat outside.

DIRTY room, dirty sheets, dirty bathroom and no flushing, spider webs on all the windows. Room without curtain working. We asked for change, the manager made an excuse saying that perhaps they didn't do the cleaning the day before because he wasn't there. The new room was just as bad. Again dirty toilet with marks on its edges, hair in the bathroom, spider webs, bad mattresses, dirty and apparently used sheets. The emergency light came on at night and there was no one to turn it off, it was impossible to sleep with that light. And not cheap for how really bad it is

We ate here for a few nights. The staff are friendly, the beer is good and the food is tasty and plentiful.

Lovely pub, had breakfast and dinner here while I was staying in Llanberis to climb snowdon. Staff were very friendly and food was great. Definitely would recommend for a bite to eat!

Rooms were big standard. Beds not particularly comfy. Owner was grouchy at best. Good location but wouldn't rush back

The room was very basic. The mattress was thin and very stained. The shower was brown and the door didn't shut properly

Mouldy, very overpriced considering they do not even provide bedding. Dirty, no soap, or toilet paper in the bathroom had to ask for both. No dedicated checkin staff, wifi doesn't reach the rooms and only works in the pub area. 2 radiators in the room, neither one works. The only mirror in the bathroom was a 30cmx30cm square high up on the wall. Bunk beds were very cheap, and one of the cross beams for the upper bunk fell on me while i slept. Food/Drinks are very expensive like you would expect in a touristy area. No breakfast available to buy whatsoever on mondays or tuesdays. Horrendous place to stay would not recommended to anyone. The only positive is the location, but just stay at the YHA or somewhere else instead. Trust me.

Lovely pub, it was the best fish and chips and steak pie we have ever had, potions were huge and well worth the money plus really friendly staff

We reserved a table that then didn't exist and no one had made a note of our pre order. The staff were really helpful fixing things but they were obviously very stretched. The 3 peaks burger was vile, we had two at our table, meat still felt frozen on the inside, so dry and £26. The rest of the food was good but basic.

Filthy, over priced & TO BE avoided!! Promising from the outside but once you check in the nightmare begins! Having done the National 3 peaks you dream of a hot nice shower and no you are greeted with a room with no bedding or pillows and the a shower with pubes and grime. You go to complain at reception and the manager says this is the 4th time someone has complaint about this today but he lies and says it’s only the second day he has worked here (this was a lie he managed everyone checking in knew all the systems and approved a card payment over cash to another member of staff - that is not the role of a new starter))!!! Wifi also doesn’t work but providing this doesn’t bother you it’s a great place to stay!!

Always great service and very welcoming to newcomers to the area and very dog friendly. Food has always been good and served quickly and great sized portions!

Extremely Disappointing – Do Not Stay Here From the outside, this hotel looks charming, but our experience was anything but. After completing the National 3 Peaks challenge, we were desperate for a hot shower and a comfortable bed. Instead, we found a room without any bedding or pillows and a bathroom that was disgustingly dirty with hair and grime. When we brought our concerns to the reception, the manager informed us that several others had complained that day as well. He claimed he was new to the job, but it was clear he was familiar with the operations – something unlikely for a new employee. Additionally, the WiFi didn’t work at all. If you can overlook these major issues, you might find the location convenient, but we were really happy to get out of here the next day.

It's a bunkhouse style room . Basic but sufficient. Service was excellent, we were away early hours of morning but manager kindly left kettle coffee and tea bags out for us and allowed us to use small room to have some breakfast. Good pub food , steak and ale pie really tasty. Great venue, close to start of walk.

Enjoyed a good meal and drinks with large group of 12, as well as sitting in sunshine in the front beer garden. Good selection of food and drinks. Staff very friendly and great service. If in Llanberis, a very good place to go to.

Location is a wonderful little village. The inside is quite standard pub venue nothing as glamorous as it looks outside does not give "lodge" vibes and it kinda cramped (please note I did not sleep here, I went here for a meal). However, the food here far exceeds the expectations of "pub grub" infact PLEASE try the Soup of the day it is SO worth your money and so absolutely delectable it's genuinely the best Soup I've ever had which feels pretty sad but genuinely I didn't think Soup was that much of an exciting dish until I had it here. I've also had the pizza which, my companions didn't enjoy but I absolutely loved it. The Cauliflower bites are positively moreish and come with a gorgeous sauce. I will say that the onion rings could use some work, the onion 90% of the time just slipped right on out of its crunchy cocoon and genuinely, even together they didn't feel like they were being experienced together infact I shouldn't need to be describing the outer shell and inside as two separate things here on any degree here. Though that's just my opinion on a good onion ring, it by all means only affects my experience based on my own opinion and may not be the same for others. As far as I'm aware for the things that matter to EVERYBODY: Cleanliness, hygiene and appropriate skill in cuisine... This is definitely a wonderful place to eat if you're visiting or stopping by. The staff are incredibly lovely too, very friendly and helpful.

Large rustic pub at the foot of Snowdon, very close to the steam railway. We had plenty of space inside, and there were plenty of tables outside. There is a large car park for guests. The Heights is dog friendly. We visited in March 2024 and ordered lunch for 6. The service and food were very good with generous portions.

The food was basically inedible, it was very drab and had the vibe of a dodgy student union bar . 5 mins after ordering, 2 scabby dry beef burgers arrived, with a family sized portion of chips. The worst £30 I have ever spent. Pints were fine, food was shocking. Not what you want after climbing a mountain.

We tried there chicken and beef burgers and we were utterly disappointed by the taste and ingredients of it.. fries were not crispy and lack flavour and were totally bland..❌❌ The burger itself was dry and without any flavour.. they had put raw onions in it and seems like a total waste of money.. 👎👎👎👎 no value of money at all.. wont recommend at all 😦😦😦❌

We popped into the pub to have a meal tonight and first impressions weren't great but at least we would have somewhere to eat. As my daughter and I are both vegetarian we ordered the quorn 'chicken' burger and the cauliflower and red pepper curry. The food arrived- and my daughter was given a chicken curry not vegetarian!! I was unsure as to the origins of my burger too. The chips were disgusting and under cooked. I complained and asked for a new curry. Unfortunately my daughter, who is autistic, was distraught that she could have eaten meat! I cancelled the order and asked for my money back to initially be told by the female that its what I ordered! I stated that I wouldn't do that when we are both vegetarian. She called the male over and didn't even say anything he just shoved the card machine in front of me so I could have a refund for the curry. He would not refund anything else even though it was awful. At this point we were leaving and my daughter was sobbing. The female asked what was wrong and I said it was because of the food and she didn't really seem bothered! Would not recommend based on our experience, or any of the other reviews I have since read. I'd recommend the Royal Victoria Hotel up the road - friendly staff, nice place and good food.

absolutely vile place, don't have a good word to say about it! floors were visibly dirty where people walk, tables so sticky that you had to peel your glass off, absolutely stunk. received the wrong dish and was told by the manager that it was our fault and its what we ordered, then refused to give a refund when we said we wouldn't eat it. was also stared at by locals and spoken to terribly by staff, which i can only assume is because we have strong scouse accents and they seem to hate everyone that isn't welsh. dire place, better restaurant in the hotel less that five minutes down the road.

Needed somewhere close to the holiday cottage to have tea. Service was prompt. Reasonable prices. Menu choice was varied and allowed for vegetarian diet.
