The Heights Bar & Kitchen in Gwynedd

Again absolutely love this place, friendly staff. Was disappointed the bunkhouse was fully booked but understood there was a race on and I left it last minute as usual 😕 😅 the lad gave me directions to the place I needed to be to park to ascend snowdon! Lovely pint sat in the sun outside with a great atmosphere! I stayed less than a year ago in bunkhouse also, was clean tidy and the chap managing loaned me a map! Really rate this gem of a place! Worst place I have ever stayed in my life, the rooms were dirty, bathroom floor looked like no one mopped them in years, they don't provide blankets and even if they tell you this, the covers of the mattress, if you could call it a mattress, seems like are rarely changed, when I arrived home first thing I did was taking a shower and wash all my clothes. Also on the second night there, the fire alarm started ringing at midnight an no one was there to take care of it, we needed to wait for the firefighters to tell us if it was safe to come back to our rooms and turn of the alarm. I slept like 4 hours in total each night I stayed there. It is a shame because the place is well located and with just a bit of care and cleaning it would be much better.

I ordered the steak and ale pie and what arrived at my table simply wasn’t a pie. It was a bowl of stew with a pastry plopped on top. False advertising. Pub must only have 2 guinness glasses, as I never got one with my pint. Also chef clocks off early at 8pm, but some staff will tell you they do pizzas after 8:30, only for other staff to tell you the kitchen is closed. Alot of confusion going on. Lovely chips and view though.

The breakfast offer quality ingredients and was cooked to perfection. The staff were incredibly welcoming to our dog and made us feel very comfortable. We will definitely be back!

Good selection of beers and drinks, food ok but nothing to write home about. Washing machines and driers out the front, good service

Don't be put off by the random people sitting around, they maybe from the bunkhouse. The food was good.

We preferred to come here over our hotel bar as it was such a nice vibe and the food was so good , especially the nachos for 2 !!!

Upon visiting this humble establishment, I partook of a pint which proved satisfactory to both the palate and the spirit. The service rendered was prompt and courteous, a rarity most welcome in these hurried times. The company of fellow patrons was genial, lending the house an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie. In sum, a commendable haunt for the weary traveller or the local soul in search of modest refreshment.

Stayed in the Bunkhouse here that I had booked online. Unfortunately, I had accidentally booked a month too far into the future. The staff kindly just moved my booking as they had space for us. The bunk rooms were warm, with plenty of space and a wc. The food was excellent. I recommend the 3 peaks burger.

I love it here... I visit regularly on my own and the bar staff are always so welcoming and friendly with me... The food is always 👌 perfect ( thank you to the chef) I highly recommend

Don't know about rooms because stay elsewhere, but food is nice

Very basic food, ordered a freshly prepared sourdough pizza which was a frozen bread base with some cheese ham and pineapple on it. No sourdpugh at all and i assume the freshly prepared part meant putting toppings on and into oven for 10 mins . Burger buns were burnt and nachos were very sad looking. The pies looked alright but definatly a place to eat if your just hungry and need a meal. Not a place if you want a memorable meal and a treat

Had a lovely meal tonight. Fish and chips were delicious, best I have had in a pub. Fish was huge! Hubby enjoyed his steak and ale pie too. Both reasonably priced and served with a smile. Staff very friendly and efficient.

Lunch time Tuesday. Most eating places closed. We red a light snack. Food served from 12. Ordered pizza read with garlic butter and cheese. Arrived quickly

Not a charming pub. Youth hostel / cafe feel. Shabby and not inviting. Hearing others ordering food and drink they had ran out of many advertised choices.

Terrible breakfast, the cheapest of everything, but a £10 price for a full English. The eggs were like rubber, the sausages were mainly rusk. It was absolutely disgusting

Came for drinks but ended up having pizzas too. Local beer very good as was the food. Barman very friendly to us. Food arrived quickly.

Went for dinner at the restaurant. We ordered 3 “gourmet” burgers. One was okay, the other two arrived with badly burnt buns, overcooked meat, no onions as advertised and one had the stalk of a pepper INSIDE the burger. Overall really poor for the £16 per burger. Very expensive and overpriced. Chips were okay.

stayed in the bunk house for £35 and for that price i wasnt expecting much but heating was promised and it was freezing in the room.2 radiators not working even after asking twice will it come on and both times was told yes it would.bunk beds are very cheap and broke when got on it.breakfast isnt served in winter months when you most need it so not much point in staying there unless your really stuck but then again your car would be a better option!

Ordered the sausage and mash & steak pie. Also a pile of the best onion rings! The food was really good and hot. The place needs updating really and past its best, but the food was really really good:)

Pros: Staff were friendly Negatives: Burgers were definitely not "gourmet" as described and were overcooked and tasteless. The chips were more like crisps due to how thin and nuked they were. Beware as it's not cheap!

Well positioned pub in the centre of Llanberis. We didn't stay but had lunch. The food was freshly made and delicious. The staff were friendly and the place had a relaxed atmosphere. Great place to visit for a quick drink or some food.

We visited Llanberis for 2 nights and visited the Heights for drinks and pizza twice over the course of the trip as we enjoyed it so much. Great drinks, nice pizza but even better staff - thank you for putting on the F1 qualifying for us!

We visited the restaurant for an early dinner. The food was okay but not good. Other guests and background tv / music was too noisy. Tables were not very clean. I wouldn't recommend it unless you just wanna watch live sports and have some beers and food besides.

We stopped here for well earned food and drink after climbing Snowdon. Great food and great customer service. Highly recommended.

Great place, down to earth and lovely food. Simple menu but all you need and enough choice for all. Beer was lovely and cold and welcomed all walks of life, walkers and dogs as well as locals. Relaxed place and lovely staff. Have been here every night since we got here and will come again!

Very disappointing experience, tables were sticky, dead flies in the window sills. Staff are pretty unfriendly. Manager does not seem concerned about his customers. Give it a wide berth is my advice

Went for a breakfast with mates, service was quick but this was unsurprising as most of it was cold. The coffee was awful and really not worth the money we paid. Shame because the place looks good from the outside.

Awful unfriendly service, dirty, dead flies next to the table. Tried to have a conversation with the manager and he just walked away, not interested in his customers. Environmental health and trading standard will close them down within minutes of entering.

Food is horrible and border-line safe. Chips had black burnt dots of used oil all over, burger was fried to black. All that for the same price you pay in gastropubs in Kent or Essex.

Fab pub amazing pizza very friendly staff

Seriously! In my 65 years I have never encountered such rude bar staff. I stood patiently while at least ten customers were served. I was with a Canadian friend and the barmaid instead of serving us, took it upon herself to pour herself a coke and simply ignored us. Unbelievable!! We walk out. Absolutely appalling.

Can't say anything about the rooms. We stayed at a nightly rental a block or two from this place. It was a great place! On to the food: Had the fish and chips tonight. Very good! Fast service.

What a great little local bar/pub. Our first time in town, and our first trip to this establishment. Service friendly, bathrooms very clean, and food fresh and hot! Nathan and Jac made my wife very happy with some Haddock fish and chips. Barry and Kerry were also very kind. Highly recomend.

The worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in. Dirty beds, poor service and terrible food.

Overall awful. Don’t be fooled by those reviews, the people leaving them have clearly never left the town. It’s dirty, it’s smelly, the hostel rooms are just abysmal. NEVER stay here and also don’t eat here if you value your wellbeing. To give examples, there is no pillows or covers on the beds. The sheets clearly haven’t been washed. The toilet is gross and clearly never cleaned. The shower ditto. There was just a grog on the floor in the hallway. Everywhere you looked was dirty and unclean and smelled.

The pub smelled bad as soon as we walked in - the hostel was in awful condition. The shower and toilet were disgusting, someone had spat on the floor in the hallway. Awful place, avoid if you can.

Had a lovely pizza and drink staff very friendly and pizza was delicious. Would recommend

A fantastic feast of a lunch. A lovely family friendly place to eat.

Food was good pub grub, good portion and lovely and hot. My husband said his beer was good .The place leaves a lot to be desired, looks like nobody has done any cleaning in there for a long time, dirty. Has the potential to be a great place but definitely needs TLC.

Food was quite basic for the price but warm and nice enough. Staff friendly but I feel the food could use some improvement to match the selling price and location

Overall really nice place. I had the vegan burger, and it was pretty good. The atmosphere in this place is nice and the service was surprisingly fast! Not much to really say, but it was a nice place.

A popular venue in Llanberis for food & drink, we ate here the two nights we were in Llanberis and the food was good as well as the service.

Geordies on tour had a bite to eat and a pint, lovely staff, friendly and made welcome. Food also delish. Lovely place to visit . 😁

Cane in for a tasty pizza and that’s exactly what I got! Friendly staff, quick service. Walkers and dogs welcomed. Sky sports in big screen (not my thing).

Visited Saturday morning for breakfast and then again for an evening meal after a day of climbing. I had a small breakfast in the morning, which was just the right amount of food for me. Served hot and was very tasty. Evening was very busy but still didn't have to wait very long for our food. The chicken and smokey bacon cabonara was absolutely gorgeous. Absolutely mountains of chicken and bacon and pasta plus a couple of slices of garlic bread. Portion was a good size and well worth the money. Highly recommend

After a charity walk up Snowden The Heights were very welcoming and accommodating for our group.great drinks and outstanding food.

Only went there for a bite to eat and some drinks. Nice beer garden at the back. Amazing chips. Fast service. Nice to see home cooked food served in a pub.

Amazing food at The Heights today. It's my husband's birthday, and we went out to this pub to have a good time out. Wasn't disappointed. Though it was full of people, we didn't have to wait long for drinks or for food. The food was delicious. We had burgers, including the vegan burger and chicken nuggets, for my daughter. The chips were the best, along with the nachos and crispy cauliflower. Highly recommend for a drink/ food here.

Cold couscous, greasy chips and contaminated pizza. Had to get our own cutlery from inside when we were sat outside.

DIRTY room, dirty sheets, dirty bathroom and no flushing, spider webs on all the windows. Room without curtain working. We asked for change, the manager made an excuse saying that perhaps they didn't do the cleaning the day before because he wasn't there. The new room was just as bad. Again dirty toilet with marks on its edges, hair in the bathroom, spider webs, bad mattresses, dirty and apparently used sheets. The emergency light came on at night and there was no one to turn it off, it was impossible to sleep with that light. And not cheap for how really bad it is

We ate here for a few nights. The staff are friendly, the beer is good and the food is tasty and plentiful.

Lovely pub, had breakfast and dinner here while I was staying in Llanberis to climb snowdon. Staff were very friendly and food was great. Definitely would recommend for a bite to eat!

Rooms were big standard. Beds not particularly comfy. Owner was grouchy at best. Good location but wouldn't rush back

The room was very basic. The mattress was thin and very stained. The shower was brown and the door didn't shut properly

Mouldy, very overpriced considering they do not even provide bedding. Dirty, no soap, or toilet paper in the bathroom had to ask for both. No dedicated checkin staff, wifi doesn't reach the rooms and only works in the pub area. 2 radiators in the room, neither one works. The only mirror in the bathroom was a 30cmx30cm square high up on the wall. Bunk beds were very cheap, and one of the cross beams for the upper bunk fell on me while i slept. Food/Drinks are very expensive like you would expect in a touristy area. No breakfast available to buy whatsoever on mondays or tuesdays. Horrendous place to stay would not recommended to anyone. The only positive is the location, but just stay at the YHA or somewhere else instead. Trust me.
