Lots of 2010 memorabilia and a nice touch is all the balls have the course logo on, but you will lose some balls on the course. Some great holes to be played but their is a lot of sand so beware, one of our team wished he ha brought a bucket & spade with him as his balls seemed to be attracted too the sand !!

My son wanted to play the Twenty Ten course as a birthday present so i booked for my wife, my two sons and myself to play. On arrival at the clubhouse the service was exceptional from the golf staff who made sure our experience was very memorable by showing us around and making my son's day by letting him use the locker that Tiger Woods had used in the Ryder Cup. The weather was bright but cold and the course lived up to expectations being in fantastic condition. We all walked the course which is fine for most people as buggies are only allowed on the paths. When we finished our round we changed and went up to the Rafters restaurant for lunch. The waiter asked if we had a reservation and when we told him we hadn't he looked around as if wondering where to fit us in even though there were only 5 tables occupied. We were seated at a table and after 10 mins another member of staff asked if we wanted a drink to which we said we would and we were also ready to order our food. We ordered 1 Chicken, 2 Fish & Chips and a Burger. After 40 mins i asked how long our meals were going to be and after going to the kitchen the waitress came back and told us they would be another 10 mins but could not explain why they were taking so long. At no time during this waiting period did anyone ask if we wanted another drink so we had to ask for a jug of water. 20 mins later i went up to the till area where 2 members of staff were and again asked where our meals were. The waitress disappeared and eventually came back with our meals and we asked if we could order our desserts then, which we did. Whist waiting i noticed 2 or 3 trays of dirty plates and cutlery sat on serving stands in the centre of the restaurant which were totally ignored by the 3 staff on duty and also when 2 more staff arrived as we finished our main courses. I have to say the quality of food was very good but this visit was totally ruined by the time we were waiting for our meals and also the lack of communication by the obviously very badly trained staff there.

There is a formal restaurant upstairs and a seating area for coffee or you may be luck enough to attend an event and eat in the dinning rooms where the Ryder Cup teams ate. For us, we were comfortable in the leather arm chairs in the downstairs spikes bar, having coffee and a shortbread in expectation of a round on the 2010 in a 30mph wind and then a beer to celebrate surviving it. A nice place to grab a drink / snack

Visited here for a special occasion. However was soon turned to a disappointing occasion. Apparently the Celtic manor resort is a 5* hotel. Oh no no far from it. Please do not think of this as a five star hotel. Leave that for the likes of the Peninsula in Hong Kong, or the Ritz in London. This is like an upmarket Holiday Inn Express. It started when trying to find the Twenty Ten club, sign posts aren’t the best and having used the force like a newly qualified Jedi Knight managed to find it. The only good experience from this visit was the views of the Wye Valley on the approach to it, and subsequently sat in the restaurant. We ordered drinks no issues. And then remembering my childhood, water was given in a school dinner ladies jug for the table that looked like it had been there since the first golf ball had been swung in 1995. Starter was adequate. Mains came and the steaks were again lacking flavour. Was not 5 star food or service. If you want a decent steak where the staff are attentive and the food is decent value for money and quality go to Miller and Carter in Cardiff Bay. Desserts were adequate. Cheese board however, £11.50, clearly some kind of chemical substances were inhaled when pricing or deciding portion size. Save yourself some money pop to Asda and grab their multi cheese board and some Jacobs, sorted and won’t cost you £11.50 for the trouble. 10% service charge is a joke. You can tell that due to you having to pay £30 for a bottle of wine £24 for a poor steak etc the average bill is going to be over £100 so the staff tip is guaranteed to be £10 or more and the staff know this. All in all if you are expecting a 5* evening with what you would expect that experience to entail don’t go here. Save your money ,go to Miller & Carter or Viva Brazil or any other restaurant in Cardiff and pay less. You’ll have a better evening, better food and not have to remortgage your house doing so. Clearly a place that is basing its 5* rating on the 2010 Ryder cup or the NATO summit, and not actually in the real world. Massively disappointed.

We were lucky , we picked a fabulous night to enjoy a meal in the Twenty Ten and we were not disappointed. The views were stunning as we watched the sun set over the hills. The food was lovely, the staff attentive, the only gripe being that the wine list felt slightly on the high side, but overall a great dining experience.

Making us play in thunder and lightning!! Treated like second class customers ,refused entry into dinning room! Poor service from Team leader Ben. Guests are required to wear smart casual clothing when dining at Rafters after 5pm and entry will be refused if this is not adhered to. Whilst denim is perfectly acceptable, sports trainers, flip flops, rugby or football shirts and tracksuits are not permitted. No mention of smart shorts!! Well what a let down, refused to let us eat in the dinning room as dave had tailored shorts on! Told we could eat down stairs ok we said! Waited 3/4 hr for food!! Then bought the wrong meals!! Cold no one else in bar!! ..both the lady and lad very apologetic not their fault. We were given this as a experence day !!! ...bad experience!!! Total nightmare! Asked to see Manager who eventually turned up, team leader needs training in public relationships, if any of my staff treated clients the way we were treated they would be sacked!! Manager Mohammed Serhan has informed us we will be re reimbursed the cost of the meal but I have to email him!! It is not the votcher I want or money, please do Not let this happen again to other customers. Training needs to be implemented to your staff!! Left at 10.30pm after a so called meal taking over 3hrs!!! Photos below of the empty bar we had our meal in!!

Fairly informal dining in the clubhouse specifically built for the 2010 Ryder Cup. Busy and therefore a good atmosphere in a fairly basically finished room with huge ceiling height. Nice views. Highlight of the food was the Welsh beef shin which was delicious. Would eat here again if on resort.

I had Darren Clarks locker and what a nice touch when they put ur name on it as well,You are driven to the first tee where your bag and buggy are, you can hit some balls on the range next to the starters cabin. Then its photos next to the Ryder cup boarding next to the first tee and away you go.Great course and I even won the par 3 challenge (free round at the Montgomerie course),After the golf you get your engraved ball marker (nice touch) and your clubs are taken to the clubhouse for you,To the 19 hole for drinks and food. staff are so nice and helpful.I have played many of the top courses but this was by far the best experience, How golf so be.

Good food, nice atmosphere, helpful staff. We ate at the Rafters restaurant after playing the Twenty Ten Course. The only problem was it was the date of the England v Wales Rugby World Cup match in 2015! We found ourselves as Englishmen in the wrong place at the wrong time when England managed to lose in the last 5 minutes. Overall a really good atmosphere in the clubhouse that evening despite this and afterwards in the main resort bars (as you can imagine). With regards to the course, its very tricky if you are a medium to high handicapper and are having a bad day (me). Nice holes but very punishing in areas. The buggy situation is frustrating beyond belief, to the point it seriously reduced the enjoyment of the day. You are encouraged to use buggies but can only use them on the paths. You hence end up walking at least as far as you would without a buggy. Absolutely ridiculous situation.

My wife, daughter and I dined at 3pm 29th August. The process of serving each course took an unacceptable time. From our arrival the main took an hour and it turned out, when we asked where it was, that the kitchen had trouble with the polenta recipe. I would have changed my order if told. There was food on the carpet and my daughter described the toilet as fairly disgusting, not having been attended to. The food wuss excellent although the polenta was boring. It's unfortunate that the hotel clearly cannot maintain its supposed 5 star standard.Nick Mowat

I have watch the Wales Open here a number of times, I was really looking forward to playing the course. The course USED to be well looked after with superb greens, clearly now no European Tour event is played here looking after the course does not seem a priority.I attempted to play here mid April at a cost of £136 a round, it had rained over night. After hitting a drive down the first fairway and walking down a water logged fairway I was concerned, the greens however were worse bald and patchy. My local public course at £20 a round is in better condition.Clearly drainage is not used here, as I am sure it has rained before in Wales and the course staff should know how to deal with the wet conditions.I would highly recommend only playing this course in the summer, I would not pay more than £50 to play here.On a good note when I went back to the club house after 2 holes and complained I did get a full refund.

What an incredible experience. Myself and 3 friends played the 2010 course yesterday and we were ALL blown away by EVERY element of the clubhouse experience. We were met at the door by two charming receptionists who, after checking our booking and taking our individual sets of initials (explained later) handed us to the care of a young man who gave us the full tour of the clubhouse. He finished our tour in the changing room where we had been pre-allocated lockers, many of which had brass plaques on them to signify which pro golfers had used them for the Ryder Cup - I got Lee Westwood's !We were asked to be ready at the back of the clubhouse 30 minutes before our tee time to be driven down (in a luxury black people-carrier) to the proactive area and first tee. After 20 minutes on the open range and putting green, we then posed in front of the 2010 Ryder Cup hoarding BACK-drop for professional photos - both team and individual tee shots. The course is one of the very best we have played anywhere in the world (apart from the hollow tined greens - but they have to be done at some time!). Sadly none of us really did it justice !Returning to the back of the clubhouse we were each presented with a commemorative ball-marker that had been individually engraved with our initials !!! The final added touch was being told our clubs would be cleaned and carried through to the front of the clubhouse for us to collect after we had cleaned up. Every person we interacted with, in whatever their role, was cheerful, polite and enthusiastic about where they work. That made for a fantastic and totally memorable experience at what is one of the best golf facilities in the world.

Being a guest in the hotel for two nights, a colleague and I had taken two clients out for a game of golf on the Twenty Ten golf course. We had rolls and coffee in the morning before our round which was fine and then after our round we decided to dine in the clubhouse also. The place was deserted and since there was 4 of us we moved from the very small circular table close by the bar to the main restaurant area where a larger table was available. A very stroppy waitress declared to us that we shouldn't be sitting in this area but `she would allow it this time!' Who the heck did she think she was speaking to? Two things here. Firstly, she embarrassed me in front of my guests with her attitude and secondly, as four of us were eating the small circular table was clearly not large enough for this. I was furious at the time but let it go. If this establishment wants to attract a business clientele who will spend money in the place then some staff training is strongly advised. This arrogant young lady left a very poor impression and I wouldn't look to rush back as a result of it.

We held a post conference meal for the delegates in the Samuel Ryder Room at the 2010 Clubhouse which is part of the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport South Wales. The food was pretty good, the room was very nice and the staff good as one would expect from the Celtic Manor. Unfortunately it was night time so we did not get a view, although this is apparently lovely. One huge complaint though: It is impossible to find. We started over an hour late because every one was so late. Signs which the staff in the hotel thought were obvious were in fact so discrete and unassuming that they were invisible in the dark. We all arrived stressed from the drive across unmarked lanes and onto tees and memorably up towards a playground with no turning space. Because we were so late the chicken was pretty dehydrated.
