Had a fantastic Mothers Day lunch today! Food was amazing and great host. Even had a little chocolate wrapped up for all the mums. Decorated for the day beautifully.

Visited for mother’s day lunch. Food was absolutely lovely and the service was excellent; attentive staff and efficient service. Had a lovely complimentary Mother’s Day gift too upon leaving. Will definitely be back and would definitely recommend. Dr Cross.

We dined in as it was our 65th wedding anniversary. There was nothing we could fault. Good was great as was the service and a wonderful atmosphere. The staff were so friendly and attentive. We will certainly go back. Thank you all.

Me and my partner came here for Valentines Day! One of the best meals we have had. Food was amazing and so was the service. Loved all the decorations too. Couldn’t recommend enough.

Disappointed. We ate Friday evening. There were only 8 people in total including us that night.The order was taken incorrectly, this meant 1 of the 4 of us had their meal 1st while the rest of the order arrived an hour later. They gave the person who had finished a complimentary garlic bread , worth £3.60. The chicken curry was mostly tomato and onion and the chips were soggy. I discussed the poor experience with the owner and tried to come to a compromise around the bill, so it reflected the reduced service we received. The bill was snatched from me and a reluctant reduction of the wrong order removed from the total bill. We have eaten at this establishment many times over the years, with the previous owners and this is far from that standard. We will not return.

Lovely meal over the Christmas period. Gave us a private room due to the size of the party. Staff were friendly and attentive prioritising the children to ensure they didn’t wait for the adult meals and could eat as soon as possible. Would definitely return again.

Lovely country pub. Friendly service, attentive staff with manageress juggling between the bar and restaurant and directing the staff very professionally. Very welcoming place.

Four of us came on Christmas Day, on arrival it was busy so expected a good experience, I couldn’t be more wrong, to start we ordered 4 cokes 2 diet 2 normal, the staff didn’t know their arse from their elbow, 3 drinks were delivered and the other didn’t come til over 20 minutes later and I was the second of us to go to the bar and tell them this, cut it short the service the food and waiting 45 mins from starter to main to come was horrendous and all the trimmings we did not get, no home made stuffing as said on the menu, no pre dessert champagne sorbet, my husband being type 1 diabetic became ill waiting and had to be taken home, the Meal was not worth £5 let lone £95 and when it came it was barley warm and potatoes tasted like they had been warmed a number times, don’t normally write reviews but the more I think about it the more angry I get, ruined our Christmas and would never go back again, no sorry no explanation just sat there and nothing to why we had waited so long to get fed, sorry but it was a disgrace the whole experience

Booked for six and a dog for Sunday Lunch. A nice welcome given to us and our dog with treats! Ordered pork belly , brisket beef and fa vegetable option. Excellent portions and very tasty with plenty of veggies available. The family certainly enjoyed the dining experience Very attentive staff. Will return Diolch yn fawr iawn

We had 2 meals for £15 from the lunch menu and couldn’t fault it. Good food, decent portions and friendly service.

We only popped in for a drink, but the food looked great, and they accommodated us without trouble. The roast beef was perfect, unbelievably tender and great service too. Recommended.

Great pub!!! It would be great to see more veggie options in the menu, I think this would draw many more customers if 2/3 veggie options were added to the menus, and the themed menu nights.

Visited from Somerset on mother's Day. Party of 8 and what a wonderful lunch we had. Food was delicious as you can see from the piccies. Service was brilliant plenty of attentive young people, clearing the plates almost as expertly as it's hungry patrons. Was definitely worth the travel, thank you for making us 3 mums feel very special. Just gutted we can't come back for Easter lunch. Hot cross bun & butter pudding yes please.

Just had the Sunday lunch 2 courses for £18.95 well worth the money. Food was amazing and plenty of it. Service was amazing too lovely staff. Well worth a visit and will definitely be back again soon.

Lovely pub and service, slightly let down by the quality of meat served the Sunday lunch. One single piece of pork loin / chop, that was quite tough and the beef brisket lacked flavour. For the money, you’d appreciate a bit more quality and value.

Can’t fault the food, it was hot and fresh. The service was a let down. It took half an hour to take our food order, when clearing the table only half was cleared and the rest left for half an hours. The desserts came out at different times; to the point where the majority of the table had finished their desserts and some of us hadn’t received ours. This, after asking for a dessert menu and still waiting for it after 20 minutes, really was the nail in the coffin. The service didn’t warrant the price, and an apology after payment and said poor service doesn’t cut it. We wouldn’t go back for this purpose.

I had a curry and was delicious. They were very accounting for us as a family when we visited. Two of the starters that came with mine were cold though. I had hot wings so didn't really notice if they were cold or not. Other than that. Traditional pub grub I thought was good

Thank you for accommodating my little family today, at short notice on Easter Sunday! Delicious food and plenty of it. Unfortunately was way too full for dessert but will try that next time! Service was outstanding, friendly and accommodating. The small Easter egg hunt was a great touch for the kids! Will definitely be back.

I made a reservation for Mother's Day over the phone, nice helpful person on the other end of the phone. I cannot recommend highly enough the excellent food we all received. I had the vegetarian dish, which was delicious. Others had beef, chicken and the salmon, all of which went down well Service was second to none. Such a lovely friendly pub, we felt so relaxed. Try this place, good for parking, all on one level, good for elderly or people with mobility issues. 💯%recommend this lovely country Inn. You won't be disappointed.

The pub was dark, the food expensive, so we had a drink & left.

Called in after a funeral there were 18 of us. We were dealt with quickly with excellent customer service, the food was very good tastey well presented plus a nice glass of Sauvignon.

Beautiful food. Welcoming and helpful staff. Took my 91 year old grandma for Sunday lunch today and the blonde lady in red who served us couldn’t have done enough for us. Thanks so much, will definitely be returning!

Had an ok roast dinner, was recommended to us for dinner. Was just a bit disappointed with some of the basics like roasties were unseasoned and poor and beef was very dry. Half a carrot and half a parsnip is a bit tight. 3 small roasties is also a bit tight. Veggies were fine. I know it had a good rep here so was just a bit underwhelmed. Dessert was nice but out of vanilla ice cream by 2pm is a little annoying. Cosy pub though don't recommend being the table next to the men's toilet though I didn't really like that.

Visited recently I was not fussed on the olive bread starter. The burger was dry and overcooked. My first cocktail was warm, but after that they were lovely. I hope you look to improve, all the best.

My food come 10mins behide everyone else's on my table of 3 people, then my food order was wrong!! My friends food went cold while we where waiting for our vegetables to come out! I waited 5mins for then to remember to bring my gravy out! All in all I terrible experience!! Will never go there AGAIN!!!

Beautiful dinner 10/10 enjoyed every bit the lady that served was so pleasant ..we did only eat and run but we will be going back again and popping back in the week to try the menu 😊

Service a bit slow but the food was worth waiting for.

Booked the marquee for 36 close friends & family to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday. We had one of the best nights of our lives. Buffet food was delicious & received many compliments from our guests. Angelina & Phil were so accommodating & helpful..nothing was too much trouble. Phil kindly set up karaoke for us to end the evening on a high & even gave us a fab version of 'That's life' to end the evening. Thank you Phil & Angelina for going above & beyond to make it a special night for my husband & our friends & family and one we will remember for a long time!

Went for Sunday lunch with 2 small children and couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. The food was incredible, by far the best roast I've had in Newport. Portions were excellent. Can't wait to go back again!! Thanks to the staff and the kitchen, we have a lovely few hours spent as a family

Was an old school pub , now not as good as it was unfortunately.

1st time visiting for Sunday lunch. Roast potatoes were cold chicken was pink in places. Told staff about this but didn’t seem bothered. Ordered dessert to only be told they didn’t have the option that a majority chose. Rather than being told when given the menus. 2 desserts were ordered with sorbets. But were given ice cream instead. When the bill came we were charged full price for the meal where the chicken was pink. And even charged for a sticky toffee pudding which wasn’t even on the menu we had. And We hadn’t even ordered one. It seems there is lack of communication between waiting staff and the kitchen or the other way around. This would not be good for people with food allergies. Can’t blame it on being busy as there were only 2 other tables eating at the same time. All in all. For £13.95 per roast dinner. You get a few slices of meat 3 cold potatoes a small side portion of veg between 3 of us. Paid extra for mash and pigs in blankets. Originally wanted cauliflower cheese but didn’t have any. Was charged £3 for a small ceramic dish with 2 scoops of mash in. Again to share between 3. So not great value for money at all. I can agree with other comments about being rushed out. As we were finishing our desserts waiting staff were just hanging round ready to usher us out. We were the last ones in the restaurant and as soon as we walked out. We were followed by the manager who I’m assuming who was waiting to go home. I like to support local businesses rather than big chains. But I’m sorry this has put me off returning.

We were passing and decided to stop for some lunch. The pub had a pleasant atmosphere, attentive service and delicious food. Would definitely return again for lunch if we are in the area.

I heard good reports about the curry years back so when I was served something that had the worse after taste I've ever had I couldn't eat it. This was the first time ever I've not eaten a meal, also the pompadom was covered in oil which made me heave I have to say the staff were very friendly and the food I seen being served looked lovely

Disappointed with the meal...Easter Sunday lunch, 2 small pieces of meat, a Yorkshire pud which had 2 very small roasties and a bit of packet stuffing in it that was overcooked and 1 parsnip. Extra veg came separately for 3 people to share but was barely enough for 2. Gravy was the best part of the meal

Really disappointing experience today. The staff were friendly which is why I've given more than 1 star. Starters: The soup (4 of them) came out cold, they did get warmed up but it wasn't very nice.. tasted like tinned tomatoes. There was also salt in the pepper shaker. Main: They'd unfortunately run out of cauliflower cheese. The vegan meal came with a non vegan Yorkshire pudding even after being assured that everything on the vegan meal would be suitable. This made me worry that I may have consumed something else that wasn't actually vegan as the server didn't seem to be sure whether the Yorkshire was vegan or not (luckily I've been vegan long enough to know). 2 of the meals came with 3 roasties and 2 of them came with 2 little ones which is a shame as the roasties were actually nice! Gravy was nice, veg was ok, can't comment on the meat but think that was fine too. Dessert: They'd run out of the only vegan dessert so the rest of the table didn't bother ordering dessert either. Nobody was up for risking another bad course anyway. Bill: We were charged for 2 cauliflower cheeses even though we didn't get any so sent the bill back but when it returned we then realised we'd been charged for 2 large sparkling waters and 1 small when we only had 3 small. So the bill was wrong twice! It started getting embarrassing having to constantly bring up issues. There were so many problems we actually expected a big apology at the end and maybe even a bit taken off the bill but nothing was said.

We’ve been here a couple of times now and the food is always delicious and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Our dog loves it here too as there’s always dog biscuits and water bowls available. Highly recommend!

Just had a pleasant meal my husband had the curry he said very good , I asked for fish of the day when told what it was king prawns in cream sauce lovely I’ll have that when it came it was king prawn in “ tomato “ sauce not what the chef told the charming young lady serving us she was most apologetic I would not have ordered it if I knew it was tomato based , she took it away and I waited for it to come a little while later my husbands had eaten most of his by the time mine came , Young lady gave me a drink on the house nice gesture ! I asked did they have any Parmesan cheese she came to sorry the chef said I could have cheese slices if I want ?.. no thank you was my reply On my last fork of linguine the young lady come back to say he had just found some Parmesan! Not the standard we would expect from this establishment today bitterly disappointed !

Service was appalling, the staff wandered round as tho they were lost, not once were we asked how our meal was, the only course I enjoyed was the prawn cocktail. The beef was not sliced just put on my plate in a huge lump, Yorkshire pudding was burnt, the roast potatoes were like bullets, in fact I tried to cut one and it bounced across the table. The veg was not properly prepped, I might leave the skin on carrots but I do top and tail them. We waited 40mins between courses, I thought they had gone to catch the beef and pork. We were not offered canapés, which it said we would receive on arrival. we had a very small table which just about fitted 3 of us, yet another couple were given large table? The sense in that. The deserts left a lot to be desired, my roulade was not fresh, my daughters g.f. cheesecake was so bland. In fact the only decent thing was the first course and coffee. There should also have been a gift for the mother which I did not receive. All in all not a good experience.

Staff absolutely superb in service reception. Very happy with it all.

Maybe we went at wrong time but booked. Most things on menu they had run out of. Meal took long time to come and very bland.

First time back here since being taken over and renovated during Covid. All I can say is WOW. The food is amazing, the Calamari is some of the best I've ever had, unbelievably light and tasty. Chicken Supreme and the Curry also great. Sticky Toffee pudding lighter than a Victoria Sponge cake. Service impeccable, friendly and polite. Will definitely be back soon..

After just moving to the area, we were very pleased with the warm welcome we had at The Inn. Wonderfully attentive staff, efficient service and outstanding food. I have a severe peanut allergy and felt reassured that my food would be safe. We will definitely be returning regularly.

Food was good but felt very rushed. Servie was efficient but some would say to fast. Out for a family lunch to relax and chat. After declining dessert as just needed time for lunch to go down we were quickly asked would you like the bill. Made to feel uncomfortable and time to leave. In there lass than hour for two courses. Not full lots of empty tables..

Firstly the staff were really helpful and attentive but service took a while and few items was missing from the plates. They corrected as soon as mentioned but as first impressions last, I hope that we are an isolated case and that others have a better experience.

Nice atmosphere, prompt service although early evening. Varied menu. I chose the chicken curry. Nicely spiced and tasty. Good portions served in good time. Host checked regular that we were happy with food. Would recommend.

Not warm and "homely" A bit Austir, food was good, but overpriced. Did not feel comfy, it a pub after all. Probably wont visit again.

Unfortunately I am having to give a 1 star. I visited here the 22nd of November 2021 to be greeted by a lovely lady who showed myself and my mother to a table even though we hadn't booked. My mother can't drink Pepsi of any sort and rhe only diet soft drink was Pepsi. So that wasn't an option. We both ordered our food to which I was told the steak I had ordered was not up to quality so wasn't available. This sounded promising. 5 minutes later the lady returned to tell me they didn't have my starter either. So none of what I actually chose. Fast forward. The patè had a weird moisture on it like it had been defrosted overnight. We could deal with this. Still tasty. Fishcakes were delicious. Then onto the main. My mother had lamb shank that looked severely over cooked. Took one mouthful of her mash. And it was stone cold. Hadn't seen a microwave in its life. Absolutely disgusting. Clearly wasn't made fresh that day either. The lady took it away. Brought it back 3 minutes later in a different bowl partially warm and claimed it had not been in a microwave. 100% had. I then turned to my steak. Sirloin-rare. It was grey top bottom and straight through like it had been cooked in a microwave. By this point I took it back to the bar myself and declined any further offers of food. My mother had to wrestle her lamb and needed dentures by the time she had finished it was so over cooked. Microwaved and extremely poor quality. My steak was refunded as I literally had not eaten any of it. However after serving my mother freezing cold mash that had come from 'the wrong pot' in the words of the lady. There was no further discounts. Now I am very happy to pay for decent food at a decent price. But it's extautionate poor quality. Poorly cooked and service was not the best. The bill and car machine were at the table within 60 seconds of refusing rhe dessert menu. The rhiwderin was highly recommended to me by a few people. However it turned out to be an utter disappointment and I will not be visiting again.

Excellent Food staff incredible nothing is too much trouble. Shame about the table of six today who complained about everything yet had the same Sunday Roast as everyone else !! Which was perfect. Refused to even pay for their drinks and walked out. Absolutely disgusting behaviour . Hope you know who you are

Sunday lunch , beef and Yorkshire pudding, seasonal vegetables, cauliflower cheese. Cooked to perfection, welsh cheese cheese board to follow. Couldn't fault the servers today, can't wait to return.

Excellent meal, top class service.

Since new ownership the food is superb and I don’t what the landlord has done to the Guinness but this is the best pint of Guinness I’ve tasted outside of Dublin. Always a good sign even if you are not a Guinness drinker!!

Stunning, the food is so great, portions are massive

This is the perfect pub. The chef is creative and skilled- always thinking of delicious and fun things for the menu! (I mean, check out those desserts!!). We also had an absolutely gorgeous Sunday roast there with the biggest Yorkshire pudding I have ever seen. The owners are lovely and make you feel like you are at home. I can’t think of a cozier place to spend an afternoon with friends or family. Thank you so much for great meals and great times!!

Lovely atmosphere staff very friendly and helpful, I was in a party of 17 and they dealt with that really well food was very tasty hot and reasonably priced plus plenty of it really delicious. Real family feel about it . Plus a good range of wines spirits, and beer. Enjoyed myself immensely.

It was OK. Presentation was first class. Portion control was on the small side ,meat was below standard for me. We ordered a set menu before hand but on the day the menu changed. I was looking forward to part of my meal. But it wasn't on the menu.

Have just had a lovely Sunday lunch here the food was beautiful with plenty of veg selection The beef was stunning . Desert was also very nice Although they were very busy I found the service welcoming & staff were attentive making sure we had drinks as we were advised that there was a delay in our meal .. completely understandable in these difficult times .. will definitely visit again

The outside area was filthy, looked as if it could do with a thorough clean. The table we sat at in the restaurant was also filthy, my plate was sticking to the surface! We were rushed in and out and the food was very hit and miss, I had the duck and it was like a piece of leather. My partners chicken schnitzel wasn't a real schnitzel. I've paid half the price and had a far better quality meal in much cleaner surroundings. The website is far nicer than the restaurant actually is. Very misleading. Poor!
