Blaina Wharf in Newport

I've been going there for a while with my family it's not bad value for money and the food is great Especially the Carvery I highly recommend this place for all the family.

7pm on a Saturday wasn't the best time for a carvery. Dry food that looked shriveled up and like it had been out for many many hours. It's a nice pub though and i The food was better when we last visited.

All the staff were friendly, chatty and helpful. The carvery was very nice.

Christmas Day Lunch 2024. My husband and I took mum and aunt to the Blaina Wharf, we all love the carvery. Jaz and the team were great, the ambience was warm, relaxed, there was no hassle. We weren't rushed at all. The food was excellent, meat just melt in the mouth, we all chose different and the quality remained the same. The whole experience was wonderful.

Christmas Day family dinner was lovely. Employees working on Christmas Day to ensure others Christmas was special, very appreciated.

Friends lunch visit - large menu & Carvery an option. On entry, no-one to show us where our reserved table was so we sat at a table with "Reserved" on it. After deciding on our menu choices we went to the bar & joined a queue of 4/5 people where 1 man only was serving. The person at the front of the queue had a large drinks order & was giving meal choices, it took over 15 minutes before we were served then a further 30/40 minutes before our food arrived. During that time we saw the queue increase to approx 16 waiting, during which time no other staff member arrived to help out. This was not the 1st time we had a long wait to be served, staffing seems to be a problem there.

Disappointed a little, pre ordered for large party and table wasn't set up for correct amount as booked, starters didn't come out very quickly, had to ask for them to be cleared, and waited ages for mains, asked for carvery tickets and it was then explained they will be given out when other food ready from kitchen however with 6 children in our party we asked for them early. Slow to clear main plates and again had to ask. I know you were busy and it's christmas but please only take bookings if you can cope with them. We appreciate everyone was doing their best but we just felt left to get on with it. No one checked on us or if our meal was OK, it was just a bit poor, sorry I do think they were doing their best.

Very popular modern pub, with a good menu and wide range of drinks.

Busy when we visited, seated quickly, wait for the food wasn’t long considering how busy they were, we didn’t have the carvery but it looked delicious. Food piping hot and good portion sizes. Will definitely visit again

I came in a group of 8 for my birthday meal on the 21st December And went again yesterday 5th January 2024 And also attended yesterday for a meal out 5th October 2024 will definitely be coming back the staff are amazing andba very good atmosphere

Food was lovely, but Jazz made the service exceptional and this is why I came back because he was super friendly I would recommend to a friend I would only come back just see his friendly face

Visited here the last couple of weeks as it's on the way back from a frequented place. The food here is great. Recommend the cauliflower wings, in fact any of the starters. All the ones we have had so far have been great. They have a carvery as well which I haven't tried yet but my wife has, and has had them every time. They have Neck oil on tap which is a refreshing change from the previous Green king ale which is not as good. The main courses are big portions for the meals I've had so far and the best thing was the Kebab with fries. The pita bread was the softest bread I've ever had, and the kebab meat was delicious. Also recommend the hot maple syrup sauce with it as it's just amazing. This is a bar with a little extra, carvery is very nice, good parking and electric points for the electrical and the staff are friendly and inviting, and already know what drink I want before I get to the bar.

Good service as normal. Not easy for people working in hospitality, they are trying their best please be understanding

Entered pub to find no staff at front of house or behind bar. When kitchen staff came out I asked if anybody was serving . She shouted out I'll have a look if I can find anybody, don't have a go at me.. absolutely shocking behaviour. The bar should never be unattended. We left and would never return 😔

Food was really nice however had to wait an hour for drinks to be served, music was super loud too

Came out for food and waited 20 mins for our booked table which is fine but the one lady even forgot about us and the other poor lady had to sort it out bless. Ordered food and drinks off the qr code, drinks didn't arrive but assumed because it was a bit busy that's why. But then our food started coming out still no drinks had to ask a server then only some drinks were brought out and when asking a server again instead of getting the drinks or asking the woman at the bar to do them she didn't. The woman at bar was very sorry for missing them couldn't fault her. Dirty cutlery had to ask for new cutlery. Food was cold and dessert was poor. Overall wasn't worth the money spent, complaining didn't get us anywhere it would've just been nice for a sorry but no. It had died down after half an hour waiting for drinks.

Love coming here for food and drinks with friends and family. Warm and welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. One bartender always stands out Jazz. He always has a smile on his face and is always so happy and polite. He has great customer service and and as a company you should be thankful he works here as he keeps me and my partner coming back. 👍

This is a chain pub. We had our Christmas lunch here. Starter was cold and the bread dry and old. The carvery was the best of the meals. Good portions and loads of veg etc.

Visited at lunchtime. Was greeted warmly, and then we found a seat. Had the veggie burger as its delicious, my son had his usual ( fries), this is our local, and I wish I could go more often. The staff, food and drinks are great. The atmosphere is nice( it was quiet when we got in at 1130 but soon filled up). Looking forward to our visit next Friday!

Shocked to see the bar full of empty dirty glasses when I arrived the staff seem to change each week and not nearly enough staff, again at 5 pm the queue at the bar is pretty ridiculous, nothing wrong with the food, or service, you just need more staff. I also left negative feedback last week, I didnt want to post it and embarrass you but as I had no reply to it I decided to leave feedback from this week. So last week you ran out of turkey so I had to wait for a chicken breast to be cooked and was only served half of it , by the time it was ready my friend had already finished her meal so what was supposed to have been a nice evening out over a glass of wine and a meal turned out to be a bit of a disaster

Very busy when I visited but I still managed to get a large carvery and a pint of Pepsi Max from a very friendly and welcoming member of staff and leave within an hour and with change from 20 quid. The food is decent, sometimes in a carvery the meat can be dry but this wasn't and the fact that dauphinoise is a choice gets a huge thumbs up from me.

The ultimate Southern fried chicken burger was lovely, as it is in every Marston's. We will continue to have our 'date dinner's with you, as we always have..

We had an amazing cooked roast dinner. Everything is so fresh, hot, clean serving area. Staff were very polite and helpful.

Staff always pleasant and food very good. Would like to comment that lately several items on the menu haven't been available. Also last week I ordered ribs and wings in barbecue sauce, arrived with only wings.

Nice place with all the advantages of a new purpose built pub. Of course new is the problem you can't buy character or atmosphere and like all recent interiors it's lacking autistic dampers so nosier than it needs to be but not too bad. I'd go again the staff were great. So worth a visit

We go here for the carvery - tops a toby everytime! Staff are always really friendly. Beef was exceptional today. Only thing that could be made better is a bigger play area for children. Bonus is that its dog friendly too

Absolutely amazing service. Table of 22 and nothing was too much for you. Your barman was great. Even when we all decided to desend to order. He wasn't phased 1 bit. If he was, he didn't show it. The food came out in a timely manner and was still hot, even with so many sittings. My only negative was the table set up. But when we asked for an extra table, it was dealt with quickly. Thank you so much for an amazing night.

I didn't go in for food or a drink, although the food did smell amazing, I originally popped in for a glass. The service I received from Jazz was outstanding, he was polite and friendly and really helpful. Excellent customer service.

Had a lovely meal here tonight! Jazz & his team were amazing! So friendly! I wasnt sure what wine to order so Jazz went through all the wines and recommended the Hardys Chardonnay which i really enjoyed! Will definitely be back! X

If you ever been and had a carvery before it’s time to revisit!!! The food was so tasty and cooked to perfection. The flavour of the veggies n roasties have improved so much 👌🏻 all the staff are lovely but Adam was especially polite and cheerful.

The food here is good. Whilst my meal was exactly as it should have been my husbands was not. He's quite picky and asked for no salad in his burger but it came out with it anyway. The biggest contribution to the loss of a star though is that there is rarely enough staff on and the service truley suffers.

Slow service, only one member of staff who was trying to take orders at the bar, deal with customers at their tables and everything else required. Food took a while and was just ok. Felt unclean in the restaurant. Waitress sprayed D10 without leaving it for even a second on the tables and wiped with the same cloth on every table. Sticky dirty menus

Went for my birthday meal, waited 45 mins for mains to come everyone on my table was half way through there mains and mine finally came, I had the hunters chicken. Chips were cold and hard especially the fries. Ordered desserts children’s ice cream came within 10 mins, 20 mins until they came over and said they don’t have vegan ice cream so I had a refund, then asked 2 girls about rocky ice cream they said it’ll be coming now another 10 mins came and no ice cream so went up and told them I didn’t want to wait anymore so we had money back, it wasn’t even busy hardly anyone in the restaurant, not coming back, very disappointed ruined my birthday meal

I feel so disappointed. We ordered surf and turf. We had to go to the bar to order. Nobody appears to take orders at tables. The poor girl behind the bar did amazingly though, considering she had queue's of people and was serving alone. The food was poor. Plenty on the plate, but the onion rings were dry, also the scampi. I felt like I was just eating crumb. The steak was overcooked, although we asked for medium, and one piece had a large line of gristle through it. Nobody came to check on us at all. Nobody cleared our table. Nobody asking if we wanted a drink or dessert. I took our plates to the bar for clearing as there were no staff. The bar had not been cleaned, and my sleeve was sticking to it as I was leaning on it. The toilets were not clean. One of the dryers was broken. The cobwebs and dust is in plain sight. I don't see myself visiting again soon.

Roast Sunday dinner. Fabulous. Hot, tasty, great veg selection, meats cooked perfectly. Pigs in Blankets to die for ... Lovely inexpensive white wine, NZ sauv blanc ... service excellent ... staff happy polite and professional. Will be back soon

Jazz dealt with us for the evening what a top bloke kind friendly and made our evening the food was lovely and the atmosphere is lovely also 1st time being here tonight and I would not hesitate to come back again what a nice pub and grill

Took our 90 year old mum/grandmother out for a treat, ordered our food it took 40 mins for starters to eventually come also missed one of the starters off our order (soup and nachos) and then we were told that there were no jacket potatoes available which by this time it was over an hour in. So we cancelled our mains and was expecting a full refund but they only reimbersed us for the mains. As a kind gesture of their mistake it would have been acceptable to give us a full refund including cost of starters etc So disapointed with service and wont be going back there!

always a great place for an impromptu lunch /evening meal, always accommodating, lasagne was delicious, fresh and well cooked, called again day after and had carvery which was delicious, with good gravy, and tender meat, lovely veggies, staff very welcoming, only downside - no Merlot on 2 occasions ☹️but good alternatives

We go every week mainly Thursday but as we both have mobility problems and loads of appointments can differ went again today short on staff as usual but great crew in jaz behind bar always quick efficient service mandy and Lauren out front always running their legs off all amazing staff you need to keep and appreciate them too many good staff have left but the carvery the last 3/4weeks been banging beef amazing melts in your mouth all vegetables really well cooked and know with added flavour just pure delight to eat not bland and tasteless roasties perfect lush did stop having the carvery for ages but what a massive change Adam been on there for some weeks massive bonus he's really good obviously knows what he's doing and appreciates good food always happy chatty and truly cares nothing is too much trouble even got me a tray to carry my lunch on as I understand you don't want them used sorry bad move older people like us those not of firm ability and children who are old enough to go pick their own choice and like a bit of independence need a tray health and safety issue

I had the most horrible time, i arrived and waited to be seated nobody turned up so myself and my partner decided to find a seat to then see 2 members of staff talking about us as though we had not waited to be seated then a waitress came over snd the thing she said was i am not happy with u i was dumb struck i then asked if we could move seats as was by the door and was cold to be told after we could see many empty seats no u cannot move all reserved the attitude was so not cutomer service i then asked for the manager who came over very laxy dazy and did nothing to make our visit nice all he said is next time book i was fuming so we left and i have made a big complaint , avoid this place horrible staff

Had the carvery which I thought was pretty decent to be fair, went large so got a bigger plate with extra meat, an extra Yorkshire pudding with stuffing, that was £2 more. Not sure about the food that other people had, they said it was ok

Food was lovely and delivered within a good time frame. Did not have to wait to be served. Atmosphere pleasant but it was quite cold in there we used our coats as a blankets to keep us warm

I attended the Roblox breakfast with my two daughters on the 26th March and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The breakfast was very tasty too.
