Blaina Wharf in Newport

Went for a family carvery yesterday, food was great we were well looked after by Jazz who was friendly, jovial and looked after us all.

Can't complain. Staff polite and friendly, foods good as always. Nice play area for the kids. Never had any delays with food and it's a nice place to go

Had a really nice meal today. Your member of staff Jazz was really helpful and went above and beyond.

Great pub and atmosphere, huge parking place and gardens for the Sunny days + kids place where you can play with them.

Wonderful atmosphere as soon as we walked in through the door. Very quick to be seated and very quick to order. Jazz was very accommodating, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about food and drinks and made suggestions on what would pair better with our food. Jazz was very cheerful the entire time we ate and drank and that alone will make is come back. Food was cooked to perfection and from kitchen to table in amazing timing.

Jazz’s service was second to none and his shot and cocktail making skills are amazing!! Customer service is amazing Thank you Jazz

Not been here for a while and remember why now as bar staff slow and definitely avoid a Thursday as really annoying loud guy doing a pub quiz who loves the sound of his voice and miss pronounces so many words it’s cringeworthy I won’t be back

Friendly and chatty bar waitress, delicious cocktails that were not too expensive, and pleasant beer garden to enjoy them in. I liked the sticky chicken wings.

Probably the worst roast dinner I have ever had. All the meat was dry and cold. The yorkshires were stale and cold. Veg was cold and begun to dry out, my stepsons mash had began to form a skin on top. Staff watched us wait at the carvery station which was empty, and ignored us and the kitchen staff saw us through the door window and ignored us too until a member of staff finally went to get them from the kitchen. I imagine the poor quality of food would be to do with the demand not being there on a Monday (8th April 2024) evening as the pub was basically empty, however if you can't adequately sell enough to warrant cooking it to a decent standard then DON'T!! All in all a totally miserable and disappointing experience.

Overall the carvery was lovely with plenty of choice. Only criticism the meat was quite fatty but otherwise tasty.

Best way to describe the place was 'it's ok' nothing special.

Meet friends usually once/twice a month for a catch up last night as usual food tasty and service quick! Played the bingo and whilst there was a slight glitch enjoyed it! staff were trying there best as it was super busy and usually staff not there doing the quiz or bingo the staff that did the bingo/quiz did well be back in a few weeks

Popped in for drinks after dining @ Rafters. Staff always very pleasant & despite tables being "reserved for diners" we were told we could sit there until the tables were required. We had Baccardi with Coke & Gin with tonic, both of which were very good. Chatted with staff & between ourselves whilst we had our drinks then left. Nice cosy atmosphere with happy chatty staff - great service as always

Went on the of chance ordered food it took nearly an hour had to ask where it was as people that ordered before us had their food and finished or left the pub.when food did come out It was very disappointing had scampi rump steak pepper sauce I had to ask about the portion size of the sauce as iv never seen so little then only 4 scampi not 5 no tartar sauce in all it was very disappointing and warm a member of staff came and offered me more scampi but i didnt want to wait an other hour then ask if we would like a drink or a pudding when your driving you don't want a beer. In all we were very disappointed and will think twice zbout going again

Best Sunday roast in the area, the staff are very helpful and friendly. We took other members of the family this time and they agreed the roast is delicious, we have also recommended it to friends.

The food was lovely but cold I think put lids on in between quiet time so it keeps hot

Lovely place, never been before, but the day we went the easter bunny was around, there was a bouncy castle and daughter loved it! Staff were all friendly and smiling, and food was good :)

I have visited more than 5 times now. Absolutely love the food, the quality and flavour of the food. Fantastic atmosphere, very friendly and pleasant. Nice interior decor. Feels cosy and warm. Very good cleanliness. I have always had service with a smile. Great prices and good parking facilities. My only complaint would be that the establishment isn't closer to my house LOL

I've left a review before so thought I would update! It was 5* last time and still is. Previous comments still stand: Visit the Blaina Wharf every 4-8 weeks on the Thursday for quiz night. Staff are always lovely and if there is a mistake or issue are always very quick to rectify it. The grills and burgers and carvery are their best dishes in my opinion, and the puddings are decent. Jahzier is always very friendly and approachable and managed to convince my dad to go for a different bottle of red wine tonight which is to be commended! Thank you all here!

Always a welcoming atmosphere and lovely food at reasonable prices. We visit weekly and enjoy every time. Just need to add broccoli to the Carvery.

Tom who served our meal was very polite and courteous and served with a smile. Very happy with the meal massive portions.

As a family we frequently visit on Sundays, this week Kelly worked above and beyond to make the meal extra special for us and our nan who was celebrating her 80th birthday. We love blaina wharf and will continue to use it for our future get togethers

We go to the Blaina Wharf fairly regularly, the staff are always very busy but equally they are always helpful and cheerful, particularly Jazz behind the bar! Food is always tasty and great value (particularly when there are Marstons promotions on!). My daughter requires a gluten free diet and there is plenty of choice to suit. Will be back again soon!

Booked a table in advance to avoid disappointment on arrival. Food was quick to arrive, hot and very tasty. Drinks could be a tad cheaper though

All the staff were friendly, chatty and helpful. The carvery was very nice.

Wonderful local pub. Good standard pub chain food with a cracking carvery. Also banging pint of Pepsi. Pub quiz on a Thursday is brilliant, recommend booking as can get very busy, starts at about 7.45. There's bingo in the break at half time. Ample parking. Great staff and service

Really good service at the bar friendly and welcoming staff. Carvery wasn't the best the veg was overly seasoned with pepper , Carrots were dry and hard and the beef was tough but the Yorkshire puddings were very good though

2nd time here 1st since refurb.what a difference it makes. The food was fantastic I had fish that was almost a shark!! The service was fast and pleasant. Will happily ho back again.

Food was delicious! And service was great Jazz was really polite on the bar and so friendly always nice to have a friendly face when out for a family meal.

Fabulous. Walked in without booking and was seated straight away. Staff were polite and very helpful, I am allergic to gluten so asked what was gluten free and was presented with my own menu with loads of choices including starters mains and pudding. One complaint is minor there were no prices on my menu. We were served at the till by jazz who was brilliant and very funny. Pub has a lovely atmosphere and is dog friendly inside and out. Will definitely be going again. Oh and a side note the portion sizes are very big, we thought the fish was a whale it was that big, everything was well cooked and fresh.

Visited today with 6 wheelchairs and they were very accommodating to us. Very friendly service. Food was great!

Had a carvery and a quick drink on the way to Cardiff. Paid extra for the larger plate but still got the same quantity of meat than the normal. But nevertheless the meat and all the extra vegetables and potatoes were lovely. Definitely recommend a visit.
