The food when it eventually arrived was good quality and tasty, although the pork belly had to be returned due to poor taste and was replaced with a beef Sunday roast. The service was atrocious, everything took an eternity, from ordering, to food arriving, even paying the bill. No apology for the dire service. Staff priority was given to a group booking that arrived after us. We arrived at 12:45 left at 16:15 after cancelling our deserts due to excessive waiting then waiting forever to pay the bill! Absolutely shocking.

Booked for Sunday lunch. The staff were friendly and welcoming. They have large TV's which were on and showing the Wales game. The roast was lovely with decent portions. We'll definitely be back!

Ladies night out bottomless brunch, excellent service from Heidi, Chantel, Gregg plus others. The food was delicious and arrived hot and all together for a party of 10+. I would highly recommend for a gathering. Great team work all the staff, big thank you for a great evening.

Beth and her team very kindly accommodated a party of 16 at quite short notice. We all chose Sunday roast and nobody was disappointed. It was superb! Piping hot, lovely vegetables great meat choice and a very reasonable price. Fabulous selection of dessert too. 16 of us left feeling very contented.

They increased the price in the menu deal and said its a new menu but the dishes are exactly the same. I ordered the roast and it was the worst I have ever had. Cheap quick items used. I would not eat there again.

Quiet when arrived, filled up a bit later on. Small dining area, food was average. Ordered steak that came out medium well when ordered medium rare, didn’t receive check back so once we did see the waitress partner had already finished her meal. Maybe we just visited on the wrong evening.

The food was amazing - again! My other half had a double cheeseburger with bacon, which was taller than his head?! My 'don't overdo it this close to Christmas' chicken in lemon and thyme, was deliciously tart & so filling! I'm already looking forward to revisiting the menu in 2024!

Lovely welcoming pub. Menu features something for everyone. We opted for weekday offer of two lunches for £15.00 and both chose the roast beef. Beautifully tender beef, huge Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and parsnips together with brocolli, peas and sprouts - fabulous!

Lovely meal. A few things were out of stock but the waitress (who was friendly, cheerful and efficient) told us about them before we'd decided we wanted them so that was fine. Just bear in mind that the website is owned by the old owners so the web contact doesn't work. Also this is (as far as I'm aware) just a restaurant not a hotel.

Came here last night, Thursday 26/10/23. Big group of us over 20 people, food was absolutely unreal and presented very well. All came out together and was fresh/boiling hot. Chef should Be very proud absolutely smashed it. Service/food 10/10 will definitely be coming back for food before Christmas.

We went for a family meal, 4 of us had the beer battered cod and chips, and it was disgusting, no fish hardly in it,,n just batter,, the chips were also terrible, £13.99 each,, but have honestly had much better fish from local chip shops, other members of family had better experience with things like steak and kebabs,, but do yourself a favour and avoid the terribly small fish and chips., the drink prices not too bad at £4.40 each pints of carling. ,

13 people went for a meal together. 3 people said their meal was ok, 10 people were unhappy with their food. Comments like "the worse lasagne I've ever had" " just a pile of stodge" "really bad". 1 starter didn't arrive. 1 main course was wrong.

Excellent food very attentive staff

Lovely pub, the food was excellent. Took my parents here on a impromptu visit, the service was warm and happy. I have been on a hunt for a "local" pub for a while and i think i have found it.

This place is like a wasted opportunity to be something great. Fairly recently it had a great outdoor play area built for kids which is already showing signs of neglect - with two of the only swings and one of the slides being removed/broken. The food is okay but lacking creativity at best and so is probably overpriced outside of the weekday saver deal of 2 meals for £15 at the moment. Its virtually all self service here for cutlery, napkins, sauces and also ordering food at the bar. This place is trying to be welcoming and family friendly but still feels like a classic pub catering more for their local regulars who drink quietly in it's dark corners and help keep the lights on. In such a prime location of Caerleon by the river, the Ship would benefit from taking itself more seriously .

A very nice stopping point, for 5 mates to meet up and enjoy a good meal. Would definitely frequent the Swan Inn again.

Twice we’ve visited now during the kitchen opening hours as shown on google and been refused service because either the kitchen was closed or we didn’t have a booking despite it being empty? Assume the chef rules the roost here and fancied a break. Staff seemed panicked and unorganised. Advice would be to call and make a booking as it’s clearly not a walk in venue. Just a shame as the food is good and we’ve travelled twice and been let down. Perhaps list food as booking only?

We didn't stay in a room. We enjoyed their lovely food and the staff were great. Would deffo come back.

Great food, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Nice and Clean place. Food was alittle pricey but drinks were cheap so there was a balance there.

Read some of the reviews, meals were excellent and quick to arrive the 2 for £15 were the size of normal portions and the beef dinner was fantastic.

Food very good well presented and okay surroundings for a meal. I found it a bit pricey if I'm honest, just a thought you will have to pay for parking fortunately for us today the car park camera was out of order, give it a try and see for yourself.

Just had the best chicken burger and chips I’ve ever had at a pub. Two for £15 and I would happily pay £15 for it alone! Also the cocktails are well worth it. Will definitely be back

Had lunch special today, 2 for £15. My burger & fries was ok, however wife had homemade chicken tikka, which was awful. She had 2 bites and that was it. Should have been taken off bill, but we paid for it. Also very disappointed that mats and salt & pepper shakers were dirty and empty. Disabled toilet had no soap or toilet paper. Waitress did a good job, considering she was on her own for 30-45 mins. Sadly, won't be returning.

It is a lovely place, good service & nice food. However if you have any allergies DO NOT take what it says on the menu as true. I am anaphylactic to eggs & they asked me at the time of booking about allergies so I told them. They then told me each item on the menu is individually labelled with the allergen, so I checked the menu online. When I came to ordering I double checked the allergen information on what I was going to order & it was exactly as it was online, luckily as I was ordering I asked the lovely waitress to double check with the kitchen it was egg free, but it wasn’t, I then chose something else & she checked & the chef said it may contain eggs, this wasn’t stated on the menu either. Luckily there was an egg free option, but if I hadn’t asked the waitress to double check I would’ve had an allergic reaction which would’ve made me seriously ill or could’ve killed me. This definitely needs to be rectified & either have a separate allergen menu that can be regularly updated or have nothing & get the staff to check with the chef on the day to make it safer for people with allergies.

Diner beware, we headed over as it was a nice day to eat. We parked and as advised paid to park. We then wandered in and found a seat . I went in to get menus . I was then approached abruptly "Have you booked?" Well no , we hadnt but plenty of room outside, "well you cant eat then " ?????? Really , are we that busy after covid to turn business away????? . I then asked the sensible question, how do i get my parking refunded? Well the excuses, its not our car park , etc etc . Im sorry, if you have signs out to pay and then you cant eat dont rob your customers it's horrendous. Stear clear be warned the customer service is horrendous

3 of us arrived and were told about 30min wait for food, was fine with that, the young blonde girl said they were very busy, I could see 2 sets of tables of 6 people so I would not say that was busy. Had our drinks and sat down, and 3 of us had a good old chat as catching up on life. Stomachs were rumbling, and we realised we had been waiting nearly an hour before food arrived, disappointed. We had 2 for £15 meals, I had fish and chips with musy peas, fish was a little bit bigger than a battered fish finger, there was another piece of batter without fish in it, my friend had beef stew, what arrived was a bowl of gravy with a couple of very small potatoes with a handful of peas No carrots and a little bit of beef, disappointed, sister had pork with sauce chips, she enjoyed chips pork was cold so she gave pork to dog. Had well done steak to go. That was like a small burger. Disappointed all round, complained to the girl ony apologised and did not offer to refund as already paid. They could have transferred some money back into account, did not even offer us free drink. Extremely poor food and service, excuse head chef on holiday, dreadful excuse for lack of food and average service. Been here quite a few times over last few months and always been good food. But must admit they never respond to emails, and I phoned and booked for 6 on another occasion when we turned up they did not have my booking. So afraid this time I cannot recommend.

I have gone down the middle with this rating. Because I had a really one great experience here and one pretty negative one. The first was on a Saturday afternoon, the service was really warm and the food was lovely. Second was a Sunday roast service and it was subpar. The service was quite neglectful, and the food was cold.

All I can say was PERFECT food, service cleanliness and speed. We went for my son's 6th birthday and as I said it was perfect

Very accommodating, good food, good prices. The lady at the bar was very nice (didn't catch her name) and the staff helped us get home safely. Can't recommend The Ship enough! If visiting from the Celtic Manor, be careful since it's dangerous to walk there. Driving is a must.

We popped in for lunch a couple of days ago and received amazing service and food. We were traveling in our motorhome and were able to stay overnight in the car park. Lovely and quiet. Thank you for having us.

Drinks are cheap as well compared to other places in Caerleon. Nice clean traditional pub, definitely recommend.

We just happened to be passing on Sunday lunch time so we decided to have lunch. We have to admit it was one of the Best Sunday dinner’s we have had in a long time, and the staff were excellent. Well done team keep this up and you’ll do well.

Breakfast with characters , to busy for a booked event three of the party received no food and five who did received stone cold meals, the characters were superb and the poor waitress worked her socks off but left feeling let down, my granddaughter whose birthday it was had no food. Excellent food, appalling service. Pre-booked a Christmas meal for six people on a Thursday evening. Keeping in mind that all of the food was pre-booked with no alterations, it took an hour for our starters to arrive. This delay was despite the waitress being told that we were ready for our starter. At the time it was understandable that there might be a delay in the starters as there were a number of other tables being served concurrently. Although, I find it hard to empathize when starters are inherently simplistic entities (i.e., soup and pate). However, giving them the benefit of the doubt we drank wine and were merry. Unfortunately, we then had to wait another hour for our main course! Taking us to around 10pm by the time we were eating a roast dinner, hardly ideal on a school night, unless you enjoy sleeping with a full belly. Finally our desserts arrived, some time much later, by which point of the our party just wanted to go home and were not particularly interested in eating a heavy, mince pie cheesecake. I will however, say that the food was delicious, especially the beef burrito and I thoroughly enjoyed eating all aspects of the meal. It is unfortunate that the poor service has somewhat tainted our experience at The Ship and I must say that I certainly will not be returning for food for the foreseeable future.
