Visited twice during our stay in nearby Dunkeld. Luvly friendly welcome from the laydees behind the counter, who delivered our coffee's to us outside, as we sat in the sunshine, enjoying our surroundings. We enjoyed sausage rolls, and delicious carrott cake, Cafe very popular with locals, and dog walkers, thoroughly enjoyed our visits, also has a wee Post Office inside, well worth a visit. :) :)

My wife and I celebrated our silver wedding in the summer and a friend bought us a gift card with lunch for 2. The excellent parts: The scenery, the drive along the loch side, the location - simply gorgeous looking out of the window whilst eating. The service. Highly relaxed and informal. Lunch was 2 hours. The Italian waiter was friendly and professional. The food was exquisite. Home baked bread with nasturtium seeded salt in the butter. I had duck, my wife had mackerel to start. Mains were pork for my wife and monkfish for me. Desert was a lick the plate clean chocolate cremeux for me and cheeses for her. The not so excellent parts; Nothing. At all. Fine dining of this quality with cookery skills like this and these flavours to luxuriate in, in this gorgeous setting… for £35 each??? I’ve paid double that in Edinburgh.

Food choice limited and unwilling to change the menu in any way. Beans on toast is only served until 1100hrs, but you can still have beans with a jacket potato and a toasted sandwich at lunch, but not beans on toast. We tried 2 cakes (rolo slice and rocky road) - both were awful, full of sugar, soft when they should have been hard and did not taste good at all, they were left on the plate. Very expensive for an underwhelming lunch. The park attached to it is very poorly maintained and very disappointing. THere are hardly any animals to see and the play equipment has not been changed, fixed or upgraded in years by the looks of things. I had been a few years back and it was great, but it has not aged well at all.

Never have we been to a hotel with such friendly welcoming staff. Everyone we met showed us the greatest hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble. We ate in the restaurant on both nights of our stay and enjoyed the food and again the friendly attitude of the staff. Breakfast was varied with a choice of hot dishes including Arbroath smokies. Our room was spacious and warm with a view over the green. We will certainly return if we visit Montrose again. The birdwatching was good too!

Terrible, don't go unless you don't mind it being dirty and leaving smelling like a chip pan. The picnic table, bench, floor, skirting boards were filthy and there was a blue haze around open plan kitchen. Extractor fans were not in use, we left reeking of fat. Our meals were terrible and the server looked like she'd just walked in off the streets, leggings in socks, trainers and a black hoody. When it originally opened,2020, it had so much promise.

Food was fine but seating area was cold and staff were shouting to each other and delivery drivers making it a very noisy environment. There was only our table and one other seated but we could hardly hear each other speak over the loud rabble Next time we'll order a takeaway and eat at home in peace and quiet as we did enjoy the food

Was advised by guests at another hotel that Powfoulis Manor did excellent food so we called in on spec. We had a freshly cooked 4 course meal at £35 each, generous portions and very tasty. The restaurant was immaculately clean and staff attentive. Will return.

We have been here many times and have always enjoyed the food and service. We had 2 plates of soup and bread which we enjoyed. The bill was £1.40 more expensive than the cost of the soup.We were told this was for the water.I said you charge for CV old tap water and was told the water is free it's the serving of the water they are charging for. This charge is ridiculous and nowhere else I have been charge for tap water.I may have missed the mention of a service charge on the menu however surely the customer should decide whether to tip or not for good service. I see there has been a previous review for charging for hot water which I understand but disappointed in this establishment for our charge. Not keen to return now.

Really enjoyed our two nights at Broomhall. Our room was huge and very comfortable. The only issue we had was the noise from the creaking floorboards of the room above. The floors definitely need some work, but I do get that it’s a castle and not a modern building. Other than this it was a fabulous stay. The bar was very reasonably priced and there was entertainment on Friday night. Breakfast was fantastic. Best porridge I’ve ever had and a full fry up.

Since we have been blessed with good weather recently, my partner and I decided to venture across to Newport to get ourselves a fish and battered sausage supper and sit at the beach. Both tasted good, however we have both been feeling extremely sick for hours, as if a load of grease is lying on our stomach. Such a shame as we have heard a lot of good reviews about this place.
